The building was an 1893 cotton warehouse still with the original roof so it may throw you off a bit. However, when you enter "The Hive", it's gorgeous and welcoming! We were there on a Friday night and were joined by the friendliest locals we've ever met! The bar was packed and we all had the opportunity to share stories and laughter until closing! The owners Mark & Jennifer are so open and inviting you can't help but settle in and feel comfortable! Cheyanne was our bartender and boy can she mix some fun and creative cocktails! From the New Fashioned to the Screaming Cicada, she has definitely mastered her craft! The whiskey and bourbon Mark is crafting is unique and delicious. With his wife's passion for everything bee's, the added honey influence is very pleasing to the palate! The owners, Mark and Jennifer have made it their mission from the beginning to only buy from local and regional farmers. All other materials, such as bottles, etc. are 100% American-made. To date, they have named and dedicated two whiskies to the men and women who have served this country by sea and by land, Sea Duty and Sword and Saber. The third, for those who have served by air, will be released early next year. It has also been their goal to provide a space for folks to gather, meet their neighbors, and enjoy life. The Hive Pub, which is part of the distillery offers seasonal cocktails, mocktails, and an assortment of other beverages. The pub hosts a number of events from a monthly supper club that highlights the talents of local chefs, to music festivals and parties. Finally, their other passion lies in helping to provide habitat and food to those that help feed us, pollinators. Found this by accident on Yelp and thought we'd check it out since we are new to the area. Went on…read morea Saturday after 2ish and there was one other couple besides us and our adult kids. It's a very large building (a industrialize feel) with what feels like multiple rooms (one room connected to main room has a stage) with quite a large open air patio with high top tables and patio furniture with padding and tables. Inside has tables, a HUGE Projection TV on the wall, a long belly-up to the bar, also a private room (The Legacy Room) for private events. It also has a store inside selling the spirits the distillery makes (which by the way is made on site). We loved the laid back feel and wide openness of the building. We were told that once a month they have line dancing/swing dancing and hire two instructors to teach. The music isn't live to continue dancing and practicing what you learn. Apparently the first night had about 60-70 people. They clear the entire floor of tables so there is plenty of room to quick up your heels. However there is a $10 cover charge. Sorry I didn't take a pic of the flyer on the door so you'll have to call and ask what night it happens but I believe it's a Friday night and right now once a month. As it gets popular, we were told maybe twice a month. They offer tables games and cards to play while tasting their Bourbon, Gin, Vodka, Tequila and mixed drinks they sell. Our guys tried a flight for $25 with generous pours. Most they liked, some not so much, but would like to go back and try their Old Fashioned. There is a very long ramp for accessible access or stairs whichever is needed. Ample parking but I'm sure on those nights when line dancing is taught it could get full. The bathrooms are gender neutral as seen in the picture. The guy behind the bar was very nice and shared lots of info on their spirits production. It was nice to have a bowl of saltine crackers but they were stale. I guess it doesn't matter because they are most likely to use when taste testing. We will be back!

They are fairly new, but they have a nice vibe. We did a tasting which included their gin, white dog whiskey (they called Moonshine), and their Small Batch and Single Barrel bourbons. Carolina Crème is why I came, but they have an Avena Oat whiskey and an Heirloom Rye vodka that are both very nice!! Also had a BBQ BLT, which was amazing!! The bacon is rubbed with BBQ spices, and rather than fresh tomato, they use julienne sticks of marinated sun dried tomatoes. It hit just right! I did request another leaf of lettuce, since the other ingredients were a bit salty. That did the trick for the half that traveled toward home with me. Only a small part made it all the way home to Durham, however. I kept nibbling at it while driving. So good! I'll need to make this pilgrimage again soon.

Pricing is on their website, and they currently have an active Groupon for their tours.   It's located in West Greenville and very close to downtown. There's plenty of parking. On one side of the interior, there's the bar/lounge area. There's couch-like seating, tables, and the bar. There's also an area for merch. I highly recommend purchasing from them versus your local liquor store, as the prices were cheaper there than anywhere else I've found them being sold.   The other side is the distillery, which is the side you step into for the tour. You start the tour with a cocktail of choices within the options they give you. I started with an old-fashioned, and it was good. Definitely carried a bang with it; a drink for the grown and experienced. It was pretty cool to learn about the distilling process, but it was even cooler to learn about the local and regional ties that made this South Carolina alcohol brand unique. It's informative, and the tour guide is engaging.   Towards the end of the tour, samples are provided of their vodka, which is strong but light tasting and very smooth; their whiskey, which was a bit strong for me but did carry a warm flavor; their bourbon, which was my favorite because it's very smooth and it carries a lot of good notes; their gin, which does have some floral and earthy type notes, and it's really cool how they make it; and another absolute favorite of mine is their Carolina cream. Their Carolina cream is so good. It is seriously delicious! I highly recommend it.   Again, next time I'm in the area and I'm looking for something to do, this will be my go-to place. It was fun, I learned some new things, I enjoyed their alcohol, and it's really neat to learn about something amazingly local, South Carolina.

Every time I have gone, they have been very welcoming and a fun ambiance. Usually there are other people doing a tasting at the same time and it almost becomes a fun group activity as other people just want to have a good time as well.
