Best restaurant in town! Came here for dinner the other night and it was the best experience. Christine and the entire staff were so welcoming and made the night absolutely amazing. The blackberry martini was delicious refreshing and fit ever sweet tooth. Christine recommended to try the Roxy next time which is a white peach martini and I'm eager to come back to try. The food was AMAZING! We started with bacon wrapped jalapeño poppers which was the perfect heat with smooth tastes. The filet and ribeye were cooked to perfection and had so much flavor! We tried this place for the first time last night after hearing a lot of hype. The atmosphere is lovely and the staff were friendly and attentive. Unfortunately, the food didn't match the price point. My dish was fine but nothing special, and a $60 steak was pretty mediocre for that cost -- not the quality cut you'd expect at that level. We've eaten at a lot of great restaurants around the country, and this just didn't deliver the quality for the price. If the prices were lower, the food would feel more reasonable. That said, the ambiance is great, so we may give it another try and hope it was just an off night. read more

A small hidden gem tucked away in a local town. Hands down the best ribeye in the CSRA, along with delicious shrimp and grits. Everything was excellent, and the customer service was superb. Christine's atmosphere reads more like an upscale but intimate NY eatery that the locals know about and wish the public didn't... Yet in this spot ALL the locals not only know about it -- they're super glad to have you come by. The owner (Christine) stopped by our table at least twice to check on us and chat about the history of her family (her youngest was preparing our dinner as she spoke)... and point out the celebrations of the folks who had come in... "That table over there is my brother and this one... that couple just got engaged..." And then..: the FOOD! Let's start with her "surprise." Normally at the time of year she preps apple butter but she had frozen her farm's strawberries and made the best selling strawberry butter for the fresh biscuits that are brought to the table right away. I came across this gem while on a very short business trip. I felt very awkward coming in after a long day of travel because the restaurant itself is so beautiful and quaint I felt like I should have gotten gussied up to step inside. But I was wholeheartedly welcomed by the hostess and greeted by the friendliest staff I've ever come across. They didn't care about my rain soaked hair or my t-shirt and jeans and I felt grateful for that. The owner of this establishment, who I met while I was eating, came over to introduce herself and shared that she owns a local farm and highlights their crop in the menu that they serve. Because of this, and her culinary talents, the food is just outstanding. They start with a complimentary basket of biscuits and strawberry butter (made with strawberries from Christine's farm). I ordered the roasted beet salad and the fried green tomatoes. Everything was absolutely stunning and delicious. I also ordered a dessert cocktail and the bartender stepped over to talk to me about other ways she could enhance the drink for my taste, not because I asked, but because she was just excited about her creations. I have never eaten at a restaurant quite like this, so if you're a local, know that you have a true diamond in this little town. If you are a visitor, do not hesitate to have a meal here. For my entree I got the chicken piccata and it was hands down the best piccata dish I've had! So fresh and delicious. My husband and our friend got the Korean bbq and absolutely raved about it. Crab cakes were light, perfectly seasoned and cooked with slight crunch, the corn salsa and sauce, were delightful!!! 3 cheese Cavatappi was perfectly cooked, mashed potatoes were delicious with cream, and butter, and they have this lovely basil cream corn, which is outstanding in every way, but I had the best fillet EVER. On Wednesday, we took a short drive to Edgefield to try Christine's Farm to Fork. Edgefield is such a cute town and Christine's restaurant was perfect. The ambiance was cozy, the service was great and the food was outstanding. We started out with the fried green tomatoes appetizer that was very tasty. For our entrees, I had the salmon special and my husband had the filet, 10 oz. I might add. They were both cooked perfectly and both delicious. The sides selected for the filet were the Mac & cheese and creamed spinach, which were plentiful and yummy. During our dinner, Christine actually stopped by our table and introduced herself and asked how things were. Such a nice touch! Would highly recommend as everything was just perfect. Just can't say enough about this gem of a restaurant. Edgefield and the CSRA at large is so lucky to have Christine's! We've been several times, Valentine's Day being the latest, and let me tell you, it was one of the best meals, ever. The tuna tartar and deconstructed lobster rolls were fantastic and fresh. I had the mushroom soup with truffle oil and it has ruined me on all other mushroom soups for the rest of my life, it was THAT good. Short ribs and salmon were outstanding, and all 3 desserts we had were spectacular. The lemon torte being the gem in the crown. This restaurant is absolutely amazing and a wonderful experience. It is located in an old downtown building in a small town downtown. The building is magnificently restored inside and out. There is plenty of seating and a bar is in the rear. The staff was attentive and great in every way. The owner Christine greeted every guest that came in. Listening to her speak to the regular guest and about the food, you know she has a true passion for this place. Everything we ordered was so delicious. We started the meal with fresh warm bread and strawberry butter. It was so flavorful and like I was eating strawberry icecream. I had the shrimp and grits, which also had sausage. The flavor and portion was great. I also had the fried green tomatoes and I recommend those. If you are local are within a short drive (Aiken, Augusta, North Augusta), make the stop here. There is live music during the warm months. There is also a great local distillery around the corner that offers tastings. We met Christine at the Augusta Farmers Market a few weeks ago. She had lotsa fresh vegetables and herbs from her acreage in Edgefield. I saw her business card and remembered hearing about this restaurant. So the next kid-free evening we drove 45 mins out to Edgefield for dinner. It was absolutely the best meal we've had in the CSRA! Our server Emma was sweet and very accommodating. Fresh biscuits, homemade jam, strawberry butter, fresh cocktails! My husband loved his appetizer of stuffed jalapeños. I got the special blackened grouper and he got the Korean Beef and we both enjoyed our meals. A five star review doesn't begin to give this gem of a restaurant in Edgefield, SC the kudos it deserves. I went there this past weekend with my family to celebrate my birthday and we couldn't have chosen a better location. I do not exaggerate when I say it was a 10 star experience in every way, from the moment we walked in the door and were pleasantly greeted, until the moment we left with a hug from the owner and our promise to return. We had a short wait on our arrival as we had a party of six which necessitated clearing and combining two tables. While waiting, we were asked more than once if we needed anything or would like a drink, and apologies were made for our wait. As we waited, we were impressed by how efficient all of the staff operated. It's like a well oiled machine. After being seated the table is treated to homemade biscuits accompanied by the yummiest peach and strawberry butters, made with produce from locally sourced farms. I understand that most of the veggies and many of the fruits and berries come from their own farm, situated right dow the road. The biscuits and flavored butters hit the spot as we decided on appetizers. We decided on the ahi tuna and pepper poppers, which were both delicious. They were seasoned perfectly and well presented. As for entrees, we ordered country fried steak with white gravy, three orders of the Korean Beef with glass noodles, the pork chops with seasonal veggies, and a chicken marsala. Every plate was delicious. My husband said, without a doubt, his country fried steak was the best he's ever eaten, and after tasting a bite, I concur. It was melt in your mouth tender and perfectly seasoned. Chicken Marsala is one of my favorites, and their version did not disappoint. The chicken was tender with a creamy sauce loaded with mushrooms, and a hint of marsala wine that gives the dish its name. My daughter said her pork chop was also perfectly seasoned and she was happy that they were glad to substitute her sides to accommodate her eating plan. As for the three guys in our group that ordered the Korean Beef, they left there plates clean. They're not the type to "ohhh and ahhh" but they let their empty plates speak for them. I'm always impressed when I ask for a box (which I did since my hearty serving necessitated it) when the server offers to box it for me, as ours did. It's that extra touch that says so much about the establishment! After the meal, we ordered both the strawberry and peach cobblers for dessert, which were ooey-gooey in a marvelous way - filled with fruit and just sweet enough without being overly so. The owner, Christine, came to our table to ask how everything was. We told her we were waiting on dessert and that everything had been wonderful. She asked what we had ordered for dessert and I told her, mentioning that we would have to come back to try the Creme Brule, my usual birthday dessert, another time. The next thing I knew there was a Creme Brule placed in front of me "on the house". It was perfect, and I do not say that lightly. I know a good creme Brule. I've had lots of practice. What a sweet (no pun intended) thing to do. As has been mentioned in many reviews, Christine is a perfect hostess, owner, and a person you know could easily end up being your best friend. You can see why, under her guidance, the restaurant has become a great success. I know this review is long, but I just had to expound on its many virtues! Go out of your way, no matter where you live, to experience this slice of heaven in downtown Edgefield. You'll be glad you did! PS - try the strawberry beer. Last night's dinner was simply outstanding. I had the best steak of my life, but I am getting ahead of myself. For Valentine's Day Christine's Farm to Fork offered a special menu of three appetizers, soup/salads, entrees, and desserts. Those offered provided enough so that everyone could find something to their liking. We were among the first to arrive, but the dining room was soon filled. Great to see a business that gives so much back to our community to be doing so well. Christine welcomed us with her usual warmth and charm, except this time she had a red rose for us. Giving a rose to every couple was a lovely touch. Over the course of our meal Christine would continue to check in on us and all the tables. Many places I often find the owner/management is a greet and done, or only available if a problem arises, I have never found this to be the case at Christine's Farm to Fork. The service as always was genuinely friendly. Sometimes I find the food to come out of the kitchen a little slower than ideal, this was not the case last night. There were a couple waitstaff bobbles either experienced or witnessed but nothing to impede our enjoyment of the night. As a classically trained fine dining server I tend to have a critical eye, more so than the average dinner, I am sure. This is not worth dwelling on, doing so would only delay getting into recap of the food. Of the three appetizers we selected one to share, Smith Farn Southern Collard Dip. Christine and her husband Jake own JM Smith Farm, which inspired the concept and name of the restaurant and provides much of the produce that goes into the menu. This dip was reminiscent of an artichoke dip, but in my opinion better. It had more depth of flavor. It was served with fried pita bread. As someone with a lot of kitchen experience sometimes it's the little things that stand out to me. The pure clean flavor of the fried pita bread showed me oil in their deep fat fryers was filtered and/or changed often. This is a tedious task that no kitchen staff enjoys doing, but when it is not kept on top of over used oil can impart an off taste on anything delicate that is fried in it. This was such an enjoyable appetizer, and it was a large portion. But it did not go to waste. We held on to the last quarter of the dip to finish off with the French fries that would come with my entrée. For our second course, Brian selected the Roasted Red Pepper Bisque. It was smooth as it should be, full of flavor, with a slight kick of spice that lingered just right on the tongue. A little chiffonade (fine slice) of basil or a few toasted croutons would have added some visual interest to match the complexity of a really fine soup. I chose the Strawberry Salad for my second course. It was simple but very satisfying. Fresh spinach with sliced strawberries, walnuts, and feta cheese tossed with a slightly sweet creamy vinaigrette. I found the acidity of the dressing and the overall lightness the perfect choice to follow our rich appetizer. For our entrée course, Brian, after some debate, selected the Carolina Gold Rice Vegetable Purloo. This was a dish neither of us were familiar with. I was familiar with Carolina gold rice, I have added information about it's history below. We learned that purloo, which in the Lowcountry also goes by "pilau" and "perlo," is a baked pot of rice, vegetables, stock and poultry. A dish with roots in the Middle East, purloo most likely arrived in this city with the rice plant itself, by way of northwestern Africa and the slave trade. Of course, as listed on the menu this version would be vegetarian. The dish was nicely prepared and had a very subtle flavor profile. I went with the Steak Frites (French Fries) and Chimichurri. PERFECTION! Honestly this was the most perfectly cooked steak I have ever had. Thankfully it was a large enough portion that seeing some envy on Brian's part I was able to share a substantial amount with him without feeling any real loss. It was so tender it could have been easily cut with a butter knife. It was spot on medium rare. It was served atop some intense jus (beef drippings, Worcestershire sauce, beef broth, and red wine) and topped with a very crisp and bright chimichurri paste (an Argentine sauce made with finely minced parsley and garlic, with olive oil, red wine vinegar, and red chili peppers or flakes). When a steak only needs to be supported by such low key sauces you know you have a real winner. As asparagus was not listed on the menu or mentioned by our server, it was a nice surprise to see it on the plate, perfectly cooked with just the right bite to it. And of course, I mentioned we saved the last bit of our collard dip to drag the fries through, so so good! The meal ended for both of us with Burbon Cream Pie. Neither of us were familiar with this either. I was expecting something like a Boston cream pie. It was not. It was a chilled, cream based, filled gram cracker crust with a real burbon punch. Last night the family drove to Edgefield, a 50 minute drive one way to dine at Christines FTF. It was amazing and worth the drive. Everything was great! The server, Abby, is a sweetheart and accommodated all 7 of us with special requests with a smile. My only regret was they were out if the collard dip, (I love collards) and I really wanted to try it. But the appetizer special was pimento cheese and it was delicious. Everyone ordered something different, from Ahi Tuna, grilled Pork chops, blackened Salmon, Chicken Madeira, Mac & cheese, Blackened snapper w/ Mango salsa to Crab cakes. It was all good and cooked by Christine's 21 yr old son. You could taste the love and the freshness in every bite. And the biscuits, OMG, so fluffy and light served warm with a delightful strawberry butter. Lucky for me, they sell the butter. And they have buckets of fresh strawberries which I also bought. Christine was busy tending to everyone and personally stopping in to chat, refill drinks, and help out wherever she could. I didn't take pictures of everything but here is a few. We ordered drinks, an appetizer of fried zucchini and squash and while waiting for our food Christine came over and introduced herself and told us a little about the restaurant and her family. Everyone was very friendly here but likely will not go back. The staff honestly appeared to be scared of the owner. It was really weird and you could tell they were working hard but were afraid of what she was going to say. Costs the same as Frog Hollow but was nowhere in the same ballpark of quality. We both ate steaks which were 45-50 each. That's not a problem but the ribeye was poor quality and full of gristle. The filet tasted like someone dumped a whole jar of pepper on it. And both had some sauce on them. Drinks were good and appetizer was very good. Just way overpriced for the quality. And the owner goes around trying to sell buckets of strawberries to people trying to eat for $20 cash only. I like the fresh food aspect but I would consider not doing this. She told us her sons was the chef but he's not an actual chef yet she charges prices like a fine dining restaurant. read more

I'm not one to give out the 5 pot of stars very often, but I will say that Christine's deserves each and every one. If you've read some of my previous reviews, you know it always starts with the beer. It doesn't have to be special brew, it just needs to be served cold and quick. One star. I went to clean up prior to making a menu selection. The restroom was nice, clean and stocked with paper towels. One more star. The staff greeted my son and I with what can only be described as a warm and very genuine greeting. My perception of the greeting only continued through out the duration of the meal. Add another star. That's three if you are counting. I wish I had taken pictures of the meals my son and I enjoyed, because they were almost to picturesque. Meals that look that good rarely live up to the self induced hype. I was clearly wrong. Each component on the plate of my fried pork chop, and my sons filet medallions tasted as good or better than they looked. BAM! There is the most important one. There are many things that go into the fifth star, and they can vary from place to place or even city to city. In the case of this Edgefield County Resturant, they accumulated enough dust to get the fifth star with many things, but I will only list a few. Location within the county-good General feeling in the Resturant-good The quality vs county expectation ratio-off the charts. Cost vs value for what you get- highest of marks I could go on, but I won't. I will leave with this comment. It's obvious there is passion within the ownership, And I hope the citizens of the county and the surrounding environs can see and appreciate that passion. We had made a reservation for 6.30pm. They were not ready for us which is fine but seated us in the bar area and did not offer us a drink while we waited 15 minutes for the table. From their website "Our menu was designed to utilize seasonal items sourced from our community", well with that in mind I was surprised to see a menu that was mainly sea food. Had the green tomatoes for starter, pork chop for main and peach cobbler for dessert. I would say the wine and the peach cobbler were the best part of the meal. The bill came out to $50 a head with the tip. With that in mind I would expect the meal to be outstanding. It was a pleasant meal and I would go again if one of our group wanted to go BUT I would say there are better places to go to with that price tag. read more

Exceptional dining experience during our visit to Edgefield. Staff was great, food was excellent (best Shrimp and Grits anywhere) and owner was on site and took time to visit with us. We will definitely return. Strongly recommend to anyone who lives in or visits this cute little town. read more
