Soul food with a smile! Fried chicken was to die for. I initially got the small dinner plate, which only came with one breast. It was so good, that I ended up going back through the line to order two additional pieces. Sides were fantastic as well, as was the sweet tea (just the perfect amount of sugar) If you're on a road trip passing though, this is a MUST STOP! Mostly locals around these parts, but visitors are welcome. Plenty of parking behind the restaurant

Wonderful food! We got there right at 11 and the line was through the restaurant, but moved very quickly. We will definitely be back.

Peggy's is a popular local joint in rural Wrens, Georgia. It is pretty highly rated, so we wanted to check it out for breakfast because that's our jam. Parking is a bit tight and we got there a little before eight on a Saturday, but traffic picked up shortly after we arrived. We seated ourselves and our orders were taken promptly, drinks brought promptly, and food came out in a timely manner. The omelette was good, and I would rate it more at a 4/5. I'll add that the ham was cooked prior to going into the omelette and that made a marked difference for flavor. The hot cakes were maybe average for flavor but my husband really liked the syrup. He was not a fan of the biscuit, for which he had high hopes. Not only was the biscuit room temp, it was quite dense and seemed like it might have been frozen prior to cooking. I got the grits and toast, and I was very pleased with the toast even if the bread was your basic loaf type - the butter was done so well you hardly noticed the bread. I found the grits to be passable, perhaps overly buttered (I know that sounds wild coming from someone born in Mississippi) but maybe slightly too thick. I have had worse grits, but I did not finish these. My husband generally likes his bacon cooked crispy, but this was on the edge of too done. The house coffee was great - no complaints on flavor at all and I'd have given it a 4/5. I asked if there was spinach or anything we could add to the omelette but that was a negative. You get the basics for coffee as well, so if you need the schmancy hazelnut creamer or you are lactose intolerant, this may not be the place. I am guessing the lunch and brunch game here is a bit bigger, but for breakfast it's about midrange. It's a good local option. Also, there is a charge for card use at this business.

This spot is AMAZING!!! True southern cooking without all the glitz, glam and nonsense. Just good ol fashioned southern cooking! I can't recommend this place enough! I am sooooo glad I live 45 minutes from it because I might weigh 400 lbs if it was in my city! Get the sweet tea with lemon to wash everything down!

On a quick trip into wrens my husband said he had heard good things about Peggys...so we went. The food was fresh & hot & tasted very good.i even ordered chicken wings to go with cornbread for our son yummy snack to eat after school. I will gladly eat here again. The mac & cheese tasted good & the fried chicken wasn't greasy.

The eggs were seasoned perfectly! The menu claims their grits are "creamy", let me tell you they may have been the best, creamiest grits I've ever had! I had bacon and country ham with mine, my wife had bacon and chicken sausage. It was all great! Belgian waffles come with the meal and a compote of (I think) raspberries & strawberries is served on the side. Lord Have Mercy!!!! I could have eaten it alone, but I did like I was supposed to and poured it on the waffle. We will definitely be back! Keep up the Good Work Mr. Herschel & Staff!

My folks and i stopped by for lunch recently when i was home for a visit. They don't eat out much but recommended Steeley's; I'm glad they did! Their menu is short and simple. A variety of diner sandwiches and simple sides like fries or onion rings. There was more, but i ordered a dipped chicken sandwich and thought fries would be the best option. It was a solid choice as the sandwich was very good. Their hours indicate they're open for breakfast so next time i'm over this way, I'm going to have to check that out. When I saw "...and Tackle" as part of the name I knew this was going to be some good food. Plastic trays for food, plastic ware for utensils, and styrofoam cups for your drink. And let me take a moment to get proper honor due that sweet tea. It has been a hot Georgia minute since I've had sweet tea. 1) I strive to consume mostly water and 2) I don't want the disappointment of mildly sweet/bitter tea. But I had a feeling about this place. I have no shame in admitting that I drank three glasses during the meal and got a refill for the ride home. Now the inside seating is nice and cool, but much like the team working here the layout has a family feel. You might be at separate tables, but your conversations will be overlapping. The outside seating follows the wrap around porch, with the very back giving you a view of the pond. We opted for outside and I am so glad we did. Aside from the occasional vehicle passing by, one only heard birds chirping and frogs croaking. Pure bliss. The burger is a thing of beauty. The mac n cheese, just order it. I don't care if you got a salad. Order this and thank me later. And to top it off, the banana pudding. I will try the pie and/or cake another day, but I had to do the pudding. And there was no sharing at my table. I had it consumed before they returned with my card and receipt. I don't know how long this place has been around, but I sure hope it stays so I can continue to visit (and indulge). If you are anywhere near this place, go!

It's a small place sort of looked like it could have been a fast food restaurant. There was plenty of seating. You could order from the menu or from the hot table (not sure what else to call it). There were two ladies working up front and it took a long time to order. I had the fried chicken with mashed potatoes, green beans, a cornbread muffin and a tea (half sweet/half unsweetened). My colleague had meatloaf, Mac and cheese, green beans, and a biscuit. We each ordered peach cobbler. They serve a lot of food! My colleague said she was going to take some for dinner. Well. . . she ate everything. It must have been really good. I haven't had good fried chicken in a long time and it was delicious. I ate all the green beans and the cornbread. I took the chicken to eat later. The mashed potatoes started out tasting good but then I started to notice an after taste that I didn't like. I didn't eat them. My colleague could not eat the cobbler. I'm not sure what was wrong with it but she tasted it and said she couldn't eat it. I unfortunately never got to eat mine. It sat in the fridge in the hotel and I ended up tossing it before I left. I was a little disappointed. I really was expecting some grits and maybe some greens (not green beans).
