This is the 3rd time we have come here (usually once a year when we get some work done on our RV). Food is simple country cooking but everything is done well and tasty. Tried this cozy restaurant while passing through Waynesboro and was very pleasantly surprised by the food quality and ambiance. The young server was friendly and efficient. My husband and I tried the grilled chicken wrap and it was moist, filled with chicken and lettuce and a caesar dressing. The hand cut fries were done just right, very similar to Five Guys -baked potato interior with a firm edge. We topped it off with a slice of turtle pie that really hit the spot. My first time visiting TLR while visiting some family in Waynesboro. I of course used Yelp to find a place with good scenery and as well enough variety so everyone would be satisfied. Upon entering, we were greeted to sit any where with our party of 6. Since I had my elderly grandma with me, we picked the first table that sat us all which was really close so so far so good. Our waitress came to the table and took our drink orders but what was weird is we just sat down and she asked for our drinks which was great but also appetizers which we didn't even grab the menus yet. Maybe she thought we were regulars so maybe that explains that. When we arrived there wasn't a bunch of people but maybe 15 mins later it was like a revolving door so they got a bit packed which was maybe 3-4 other tables. Our salads came out very quickly which was perfect but took another 30-40 mins for our food which again I'm with family so we talked to pass the time. Food arrives and the hush puppies were cold, sweet potato fries cold and the onion rings on another plate dripping in grease. I ordered the fish which was catfish and for the price wasn't worth it. 2 very thin slices pieces on a slice of lettuce and not seared just felt steamed with no flavor. I'm thinking they must have an older clientele so they keep seasoning to a minimum. This is a nice family style restaurant with great views of the lake but the kitchen was off this trip. Our waitress was good in getting us new hush puppies and fries which did come out hot. Checking out was not a problem but overall the issue here was the kitchen, the service was fine. While checking out the ladies were talking on the phone which I'm not use to but nonetheless I left a great tip for the waitress and didn't base on the food experience since she dealt with all of us and her other tables. I don't find myself in Waynesboro often but I would be willing to try their buffet next time which seems like they have a good variety. I heard The Lakeview had buffet lunch. Hubby & I arrived at 12:40. Lunch out together is a special treat, usually. You seat yourself here. They were quick to take our drink order. The buffet looked stocked pretty low. Choice was fish or chicken. We each got a piece of chicken & fries. I managed to scoop a couple pieces of squash & clam strips. Well the chicken was good. The clam strips were ok like fried freezer food. The fries were cold & hard. The squash was watery & mushy. A couple of men arrived after us. They got the rest of the chicken. When I went back for seconds, the trays were completely empty except for baked beans, plain hush puppies & grits. I asked the waitress if they were making more fries and she said she didn't know. I tried a small bowl of beans and they were good. I asked another waitress for more fries & she said she'd check. So there was a lunch rush, but they don't replenish the buffet. So much for the Welcome Golfers for the Masters. Don't go there. read more

My husband got the build your own burger with bacon, pimento cheese and cheddar and I got the cream cheese chicken wrap deep fried with some amazing sauce to dip it in! We had not eaten here "since Covid". We were happy to see it not only survived, but it has been remodeled. We were traveling home from vacation and had our dog with us. The girl inside made the command decision to permit dog-friendly seating outside. My husband moved one of the small tables onto the grass(off the cement patio) so our dog would be more comfortable. Our waitress happily took our order outside, and in a timely manner, brought our drinks and took our order. She checked on us(we were the only ones sitting outside) at least 4 times during our meal...which was very good--not to mention the breeze and the view. We 6 stopped in on our way to FL. The potatoes and fried okra were hand cut and delicious! We had hamburgers, patty melt, phili cheesesteak and chicken tenders and they were all fresh and delicious. A little sad about this place... maybe I'll try it again another time I'm in town. I ordered the hush puppies (2) which were hot and tasted kinda like donut balls. The famous smothered hamburger pattie with onions... I struggle a bit with this because it wasnt seasoned the onions were not sauteed... it was just blan... and it wasnt hot it was cool. I ordered fries... should of asked for potatoes. The fries were so limp I didnt even finish them... they were cool and tasted like they were reheated but they looked good but they were limp and not crunchy very soft like they were microwaved. The service when I first came in was nice. Staff was very polite and nice. It wasnt packed at all... it didnt take long to get my food. Stopped here for lunch bc I had seen on FB that they had a buffet and I was ready for some good southern cooking. The buffet left something to be desired not only in its few offerings but also in the appearance of the food although it was 12:30 which is normally a time when buffets should look fresh and appealing. My husband and I decided to order from the menu. He ordered a hamburger steak /w fries which was basically a hamburger with fries piled on top and covered in gravy. He said it was good but then anything slathered in gravy is good to him. His roll was the cheap kind that you buy at the grocery and just tear apart and serve...no butter , no warming, no nothing. I ordered the philly cheese steak on a TOASTED (according to the menu) hoagie bun w/ coleslaw. My sandwich was completely tasteless and no I'm not recovering from covid. I tried to help it by adding some salt..which I never do but I was pretty hungry...and mustard In hopes of adding some flavor. (I had to stick my fork tine in the mustard bottle to get it to squirt out so it clearly had not been cleaned in quite a while.) My coleslaw...I LOVE coleslaw...was like eating a head of cabbage with a little pepper sprinkled on. I only knew there was pepper bc I saw a few specks but couldn't taste it. The TOASTED hoagie bun clearly had not even passed close to a heat source much less been toasted. The topper to this restaurant was that none of the wait/service people wore masks. Luckily, we had ours and wore them the entire time except when eating and bc of the few patrons we were able to social distance well beyond 6 ft. We won't be back! read more

The first thing I noticed was the delicious smell and the beautiful view. I ordered the ribeye and the were out. So I ordered the catfish. After the hour wait for our appetizer, the burnt cheese fries were not impressive. Then when our food came out 15 minutes later, it was great. We decided to give this restaurant another try after a very disappointing first. This trip was worse than the first and we will not be going again. For a place to brag that their hamburger steak was famous, it makes me wonder just what it is famous for. It's certainly not for flavor. Service was poor at best and the quality of the food could be compared to a Hungry Man frozen dinner. Food took nearly an hour to arrive and I watched the faces of the other diners (and there wasn't many) as they tasted their order...that should have made me leave right then and there. Friendly staff and great place for groups however the food on the other hand is just not that good. It can be a bit of a wait on busy days. The service is ok but nothing to write home about. The layout is ok however could use a good makeover. Seems a big aged and the deck is never open. Nice views from the back. They had a couple of large parties already seated and food ordered. We sat down at a table that looked clean but were unpleasantly surprised that it had not been wiped down. Lots of salt on the table. The service was slow but friendly. We both ordered the Lake Burger and a trip to the salad bar. The salad bar hadn't been attended to in some time. Several items, like grated cheese, were empty. We settled on iceberg lettuce, carrots and tomatoes. The salad was okay. The burgers came out in about 20 minutes after we ordered. They were over done, like charred, and small. The fries were greasy and limp, and not salted. We ate what we could stand and quickly left. We will not be back. read more

Shaped a PERFECT oval and as close to exactly the same thickness as possible. Personally, I'll never believe that it was anything other than removed from a box out of the freezer. Mashed potatoes weren't an option. Again, the waitress made a suggestion of their "home-cut" FF's. They were so hard that I couldn't eat them, even with gravy on them. Speaking of the onions & gravy. I had about 1/2 onions & 1/2 onion skin. Above all of this, was the waitress. A terrible, consistent cough. I've often passed by on my drive from Savannah to Augusta and thought it looked like a nice little place to try. Sat (2/15) I ended up passing by about dinner time and decided to give it a try. I asked the my waitress for a recommendation. She said the hamburger steak was popular, so I ordered it with fries (nothing very exotic for sure). I never saw her again. Thirty minutes later I was beginning to wonder what had happended. I flagged down a young man who worked there and asked about my order (after 35 minutes). He said he would check, but then he too disappeared. After 45 minutes, I got up and went to the counter to pay for my salad and tea. I overhead another customer being told their fryer was broken. I have no idea how long I would have sat there before being told I would likely never receive my food, but I'll NEVER, NEVER be back. After reading the other reviews...I don't think I missed much. By the way, I can't believe they had the nerve to charge me for a small salad ($2.99) and tea ($1.50) after that experience. Obviously they must have more customers than they need. read more

Awesome place had wonderful service. Actually called lakeview restaurant. Home of famous hamburger steak. But the boys got grilled cheese and hand cut fries and double order of wings. Wife had a smothered grilled chicken breast with cheese, grilled onions and peppers. I had a soup and salad. Great meal all around. Ambience is quaint and it is decorated with about 100 owls, i counted 56 in the one dining area over looking the lake. read more

Went for breakfast today, which I didn't knew they had breakfast. Food came out fast and quick. Food, was good as well can't complain, had French toast platter. Waitress was very pleasant. Looking at the lake while eating breakfast wasn't bad either. Defiantly will be back. read more
