Where do I start with GDC, the atmosphere, the attentive staff, the decor? Let's start with service, food then go into overall experience. Upon entering GDC, we were warmly greeted by the staff on such a chilly night so well received. One thing a restaurant can do is not warmly greet a customer and especially when it's their first time there. This sets the tone of the visit so I appreciated the warm welcome for me and my Mom as first timers. We were sat at a nearby table with a gentlemen who just so happen to be a long time customer who drives pretty far for the food call myself intrigued. Now the bar has been set high. Our waitress asked if we'd visited before and of course we hadn't so she spoke on the menu and the Chef specials. Mom and myself ended up getting the Chef specials. We also ordered the appetizers. Needless to say the food was beyond goodness beyond amazing, it bad to be one of the best dining experiences I've had. I like to consider myself well traveled and coming from NYC I've been to Michelin star restaurants. GDC is definitely up their in the top tier to be in such a small town. Next time I'm in town visiting, GDC is a must visit. Oh yeah, how could I forget. The owner came by our table checked on us a few times and held some small talk. Told us about the photos on the wall that my mom was admiring. The best part is, when my lambchops came out and I was one bone in, he told me to slow down he has something that would blow my mind. He made this freaking amazing maple bacon and pecan sauce (I could have screwed up the ingredients) that I could literally have poured over my entire meal and maybe my own fingers it was so good. Appetizers: Wonton (new item) Sesame Seared Tuna Chef Special: Mahi Dinner with Brussels sprouts and Jasmine rice Lamb Chops with Green Beans and Mashed Potatoes

My mother-in-law recommend that we try this place and my rating mainly reflects our personal experience there. We waited around 20 minutes for our food and heard a waitress say later to some in-coming guests "our kitchen was backed up, but your food should be out soon." I ordered the Groupie Po-Boy and was disappointed with the meat-to-bread ratio. I was dissatisfied with the amount of space left in the hoagie. I will say that my wife enjoyed her food and the sweet potato fries were good. Beware of the lunch rush and the Po-Boys and you should be fine. Enjoy the great sweet potato fries.

It is so refreshing to come across a chef that knows how to cook a blue rare steak! My mother and I were absolutely thrilled. Both steaks had a perfect crust with a delectable center. BRAVO!

I liked it. It's a cute little cafe. It's super busy, because it's in a small town, so there aren't too many options. It's pretty good. I got the fried shrimp basket with sweet potato fries. Our food took a really long time, but they were kinda swamped, I guess. I liked the sweet potato fries a lot. If you like sweet potatoes, get the fries because they're good. The fried shrimp was ordinary--good but nothing special. I'd try something different next time. The server was nice, and she was pretty attentive, even considering how busy they were. Good experience!

First time eating here. The service was good & the ladies were very pleasant. I ordered the French onion soup & the fried pork belly & a rebuen, my mom ordered the grouper po boy. Everything was great. The French onion has a tang to it that tastes amazing & the pork was great. My one & only complaint would be that the fries for both my mom & I were cold HOWEVER, they cooked up another batch on the spot. Otherwise no issues whatsoever. It's a nice little spot on Liberty St in downtown Waynesboro. Definitely interested in eating the dinner menu. Thur fri & sat nights. Everyday they have a new special for lunch. Definitely worth trying.

Just passing through and found this little gem on Yelp just a few blocks off the main road. Loved the location, the hip ambiance, and the food and service were wonderful. We walked in and were seated right way and our orders were taken and served up fast. The sweet tea was amazing, it honestly does not get any better than this. I ordered the soup and grilled cheese sandwich. The French onion soup was perfect on a chilly day and it is hard to go wrong with a multi cheese grilled sandwich. My husband had the reuben and sweet potato fries. I have to say the sweet potato fries stole the top bite honors at our lunch. There were hot and crispy delicious morsels of sweet and salty bites. His reuben was good, but thought the meat was more like a processed lunch meat than fresh carved corned beef he had hoped for. Either way, we would not hesitate a moment to have lunch here again. They did show off the dinner menu and I have to say I really wish I was in this area at dinner time since the evening entrees sound top notch. Plenty of homemade desserts too and classy ones like crème brulee. Prices were very reasonable and servers were very attentive. I would be a regular here if this were in my town.

Heading home from Asheville, NC & happened through Waynesboro, GA. Stopped at Good Day Cafe after seeing the great rating! This place did not disappoint! The food was right on point. I had the chicken Caesar wrap with sweet potato fries. The sandwich was moist & full of flavor. My husband had a cheeseburger with potato salad. The burger was juicy like a burger should be, juicy enough that it dribbles down your chin. They make their potato salad in house & it's the really deal! Our server Liza suggested the Key Lime pie as it's what they are known for! It came out in a Mason jar with a lime & graham cracker on top. The bottom of the jar had a nice little crust topped off with key lime goodness. Our server Liza was efficient, knowledgeable & courteous. I also loved the feel of a small downtown diner. I also loved the fact that everyone knew everyone, stopping to visit or chat for a few minutes.

This is such a gem. I got to talk to Liza. She told us all about the town and the food. It is a charming little place. Right in historic downtown Waynesboro Georgia. Their lamb burger was unexpectedly delicious and flavorful. Being from Los Angeles and having some what of a high standard in food, we were so impressed by the quality of food and freshness. Perfect serving. Not too much not to little. Who knew? Besides the locals. If driving by this town...you must stop and eat here.

Great service, generous portions reasonably priced. Absolutely better than anything Waynesboro deserves. Gourmet food with a hometown price tag, cant be beat. I'd have given 5 stars except they have the oddest hours of any restaurant I've ever seen.

Pork chop, mixed vegetables and green beans.

Best kept secret down this stretch of the South might just be Peggy's fried chicken…read more Now, a great many places have the confidence to fry a bird. That is not the same as knowing what they're doing. Plenty can make chicken hot. Fewer can make it memorable. Peggy's managed the rarer thing. This was the kind of fried chicken that makes a man quiet for a minute and reconsider whether he has properly valued his past blessings. They had other meats on the menu, and I do not doubt they were prepared by decent people with honest intentions, but ordering anything besides the fried chicken would have felt like showing up at a revival and asking for directions to a yoga class. And the sides, Lord help me, the sides were no afterthought. If I had not attended the funerals myself, I might have suspected my great grandma, grandma, and momma were back there in the kitchen, keeping an eye on the pots. Forgive me, Mammaw G, Mammaw, and Mom, but Peggy's had the better day with that chicken. I say that with love, respect, and a willingness to dodge a lightning bolt if one has been set aside for me. Fried okra, green beans, sweet potatoes, and mac and cheese, which any Southerner with good sense knows is a vegetable when it needs to be, spread across our plates like a family reunion of the righteous. The only medical advisory I'd offer is this: if your doctor has warned you against coating your insides with salt, you may want to admire from a respectful distance. And the sweet tea was right. Not tea-flavored water with ambition. Sweet tea. Properly made. The sort that lets you know nobody in the building is interested in modern nonsense. Next time I'm rolling down I-20, I may well make the turn toward Wrens again just to see whether Peggy's can do it twice. But judging by the regulars, the handshakes, the easy way the staff knew folks by name, and the fact they made us feel halfway local ourselves, I'd say this was no one-off. This felt less like a lucky meal and more like the kind of place that still believes doing something well is reason enough to keep doing it.

My grandson and I were hungry so we scurried over to get a place to go because they close at 8:30. We were kindly greeted and informed that the cooks have left the building but they had buffet style. The server came out and prepared our to go plates with care. We ordered sweet ice teas, had great conversation and I'm out merry way. I had Chuck beef over rice, candied yams, lima beens and a biscuit. OMG the food was as it should be, comfort food. Every bite was delicious and that biscuit melted in my mouth. The ice tea was perfectly crafted. My grandson had fried chicken in Mac n Cheese. He didn't expound in its taste but he gobbled it up with no complaints. I would say that he enjoyed it. I know the locals enjoy this restaurant because it seems like Peggy's is a staple in the community. It's too bad that I won't be back here but I am glad that I supported this restaurant rather than going to a fast food that's close by. Thank you to the staff for making us feel welcomed and by serving us with care. I choose chuck beef over rice, yams, lima beens, and a biscuit. I felt nostalgic eating this food reminiscing from days of past, living in the south and eating soul food
