I would love to give Good Day Cafe 5 stars. The food was exceptional and the restaurant very quaint. However, I almost left as soon as I entered. No one greeted my party of 2 when we entered. We felt like eyes were staring at us. We had to find our own table and ask for instructions. It was very uncomfortable. However, we decided to stay and give them a chance. I don't know what occurred or why the change of heart, but once a server came everything else went very smoothly. The server was amazing. The food was dynamic and the drinks were tasteful. I would definitely go back and give my first impression another try. Hopefully, it was just an off night and they make all people feel welcome. We've been hearing a lot about the café, so wanted to try it out we had quite a long drive to get there. The side was cute and the inside was quite kind of an old building with established brick inside. When you walk in, it's kind of unclear what the next step is. We ordered the mushrooms appetizer as suggested by the waitress. It was a bit of a disappointment. Six tiny white mushrooms with cream cheese. I prefer portobellos waitress suggested ordering the fillet medallions. I expected filet mignon. It was actually not filet mignon but some other cut of meat sliced thinly on a bed of potatoes and asparagus. I thought the potatoes and asparagus were very good. My husband ordered the lemon garlic salmon. It was so salty he could hardly eat it. And there was no real garlic on it. And perhaps a squeeze of lemon I would say it was a decent restaurant, but I would not be driving the long distance again to go there. read more

Where do I start with GDC, the atmosphere, the attentive staff, the decor? Let's start with service, food then go into overall experience. Upon entering GDC, we were warmly greeted by the staff on such a chilly night so well received. One thing a restaurant can do is not warmly greet a customer and especially when it's their first time there. This sets the tone of the visit so I appreciated the warm welcome for me and my Mom as first timers. We were sat at a nearby table with a gentlemen who just so happen to be a long time customer who drives pretty far for the food call myself intrigued. Now the bar has been set high. Our waitress asked if we'd visited before and of course we hadn't so she spoke on the menu and the Chef specials. Mom and myself ended up getting the Chef specials. We also ordered the appetizers. Needless to say the food was beyond goodness beyond amazing, it bad to be one of the best dining experiences I've had. I like to consider myself well traveled and coming from NYC I've been to Michelin star restaurants. GDC is definitely up their in the top tier to be in such a small town. Next time I'm in town visiting, GDC is a must visit. Oh yeah, how could I forget. The owner came by our table checked on us a few times and held some small talk. Told us about the photos on the wall that my mom was admiring. The best part is, when my lambchops came out and I was one bone in, he told me to slow down he has something that would blow my mind. Not impressed. Maybe it was a bad night, but it was a first impression for us and my wife and I will not be back. No bread was served as we were instructed that they were out. The wait for our meal was entirely too long and the waitress repeatedly came to the table to apologize for the delay, which was strange because we were the only table they had aside from a larger party, but the place was far from capacity and half of the staff was just hovering around the bar. When our food finally came, mine was cold, sparsely seasoned and sitting in a puddle of liquid, my wife ordered the veal and it was utterly flavorless, she wouldn't even eat it. We waited around 20 minutes for our food and heard a waitress say later to some in-coming guests "our kitchen was backed up, but your food should be out soon." I liked it. It's a cute little cafe. It's super busy, because it's in a small town, so there aren't too many options. It's pretty good. I got the fried shrimp basket with sweet potato fries. Our food took a really long time, but they were kinda swamped, I guess. I liked the sweet potato fries a lot. If you like sweet potatoes, get the fries because they're good. The fried shrimp was ordinary--good but nothing special. I'd try something different next time. The server was nice, and she was pretty attentive, even considering how busy they were. First time eating here. The service was good & the ladies were very pleasant. I ordered the French onion soup & the fried pork belly & a rebuen, my mom ordered the grouper po boy. Everything was great. The French onion has a tang to it that tastes amazing & the pork was great. My one & only complaint would be that the fries for both my mom & I were cold HOWEVER, they cooked up another batch on the spot. Otherwise no issues whatsoever. It's a nice little spot on Liberty St in downtown Waynesboro. Definitely interested in eating the dinner menu. Thur fri & sat nights. Everyday they have a new special for lunch. Just passing through and found this little gem on Yelp just a few blocks off the main road. Loved the location, the hip ambiance, and the food and service were wonderful. We walked in and were seated right way and our orders were taken and served up fast. The sweet tea was amazing, it honestly does not get any better than this. I ordered the soup and grilled cheese sandwich. The French onion soup was perfect on a chilly day and it is hard to go wrong with a multi cheese grilled sandwich. My husband had the reuben and sweet potato fries. I have to say the sweet potato fries stole the top bite honors at our lunch. There were hot and crispy delicious morsels of sweet and salty bites. His reuben was good, but thought the meat was more like a processed lunch meat than fresh carved corned beef he had hoped for. Either way, we would not hesitate a moment to have lunch here again. They did show off the dinner menu and I have to say I really wish I was in this area at dinner time since the evening entrees sound top notch. Heading home from Asheville, NC & happened through Waynesboro, GA. Stopped at Good Day Cafe after seeing the great rating! This place did not disappoint! The food was right on point. I had the chicken Caesar wrap with sweet potato fries. The sandwich was moist & full of flavor. My husband had a cheeseburger with potato salad. The burger was juicy like a burger should be, juicy enough that it dribbles down your chin. They make their potato salad in house & it's the really deal! Our server Liza suggested the Key Lime pie as it's what they are known for! It came out in a Mason jar with a lime & graham cracker on top. The bottom of the jar had a nice little crust topped off with key lime goodness. Our server Liza was efficient, knowledgeable & courteous. I also loved the feel of a small downtown diner. The customer service here is so bad, it is beyond belief. And, when you call to speak with someone about it, they ARGUE with you (Chelsea). I have been here three times. They were rude the first time. The second time was fairly pleasant except for the teenage child playing a noisy game on his phone, he was the son of one the staff out of school for the day. This last time, Chelsea mistakenly assumed that I was with the party coming in the door behind me, even though I stated that I was a party of one (even held up my finger indicating one, she didn't listen or observe), she completely ignored me, and greeted and addressed the party behind me, not saying one word of greeting to me. I left, when I called to explain why I left, ignored and all, Chelsea actually argued with me. Patronizing me with, "I'm sorry that you feel that way". I feel the way you treated me, Chelsea, BADLY. We were staying at Magnolia Springs State Park and made reservations for dinner Friday night. It is about 15-20 minutes away. Our table was ready when we arrived and the waitress was very knowledgeable and friendly. We are newly on keto and she guided us through the menu asking the chef questions about ingredients when necessary. We started with blackened shrimp, stuffed baked mushrooms and then ordered the delicious pork chop. It comes with green beans and mashed potatoes so we subbed mixed vegetables for the potatoes. Dinner is served with a fresh salad. The bonus is they make all their dressings in-house. Huge extra points for that! If we had not been on keto we would have definitely ordered one of their desserts. Even the owner and other waitresses kept their eye in us and checked to make sure everything was going well. We liked it so much that we made reservations for Saturday night too. Again, our table was ready and service was excellent. We has the cajun crawfish dip and the chef subbed bacon for the bread. So yummy! He brought some pepper sauce to the table to give it more of a kick. We also had blackened shrimp again. The filet medallions were so tender and the sauce is edible perfection. It is a reduction sauce that takes hours of slow cooking vegetables to make it. Total food orgasm. We were so pleased to find this hidden gem. An upscale foodie restaurant in a small town. Who knew? In downtown historic Waynesboro, GA hides a fabulous place. Homemade paintings on the bathroom walls welcomed this tired traveler. The WiFi code Eclectic Chef gave me an added hint that we were in the best place. Never had anything so delicious as the daily special Shrimp and Grits. I saved one mouthful to photograph! It didn't get any better than this true taste of the South. Were there bits of sausage in the faintly peppery grits? The gravy was delicious and every mouthful was flavorful! Yum! We stopped here on our way to savannah at around 9pm. Yelp says they're open until 10pm, but they don't actually have an official closing time- they go by traffic. We asked if they were still serving, and they kindly sat us even though the other tables were finishing up. The food was excellent (we had the salmon and shrimp scampi), but the best part was the service. The owner and waitress are extremely hospitable and personable. We will make a point of coming back here every time we come through this area. read more

A little shocked by a place like this in Waynesboro. This place wants to be a 5 star restaurant in a 3 star town. Not much of a wait and the decor is nice. Very small layout and the seating can be tight. The food is good but can be so much more for the cost. For a small town its nice quality but far from the great. For the cost of the what one pays I would expect much more. shockingly many locals are willing to pay the high prices for par food. Restrooms are clean and service was nice.
