I finally got to dine at the place my husband rave about when he eats lunch here when working at the plant! I had him drive me from Evans to Girard for our family outing. Talk about a hidden gem!! The pictures online don't do it justice! The food tonight was seasoned so well and delicious!!! I had the fried catfish dinner with fried shrimp added and keylime pie to go. My husband had the ribeye with grilled shrimp. One of my daughters had the filet with fries and the other daughter had the Asian all you can eat buffet. The atmosphere was perfect. This place is definitely unassuming but I am so glad we decided to check Fish Eye Grill out after someone recommended it to us. The wait staff and workers were super friendly and helpful. They assisted in explaining the ordering process and options since it was our first time there. We decided to get food from the hot bar line. This was an absolute win. The food was incredible. The portions were huge and the price was well worth it. Everything we had was wonderful. The pulled pork, the greens, the mac, the sweet potatoes...even down to the sweet tea. Everything was amazing. First time coming here. I thought the food was reasonably priced for the quality of the food being served. Service was excellent too. Chatted with the owner as he was checking everything was great and that is always good to see owners invested in their business. I had the pork chop and it was very tasty. Opted for the sweet and sour cabbage and rice and orzo pilaf. We also shared a piece of blueberry cheesecake. To be honest if I was to be down on anything I was a little disappointed that it was not made in house and to me even though it was a good cheese cake just didn't cut it for me. This is my grandfathers favorite restaurant so we make the hour drive for Father's Day and it's always worth it. We arrived a little early today, so my daughter and I played a little corn hole outside while we waited for the rest of our party to arrive. The food and hospitality are always amazing at Fish Eye Grill. We always start with an order of pulled pork nachos, and tonight we tried the crawfish dip and the collard greens dip. The collard greens dip was surprisingly delicious, savory and a little tangy. I ordered the ribeye steak with shrimp skewer to share with my husband and our daughter ordered the hot honey chicken and pimento cheese sandwich, my dad ordered the pasta. The garlic red skinned potatoes were the other star of the dinner, so velvety that we could have all ordered just those! Nice atmosphere. Great service. Helpful staff. Owner came over to greet us once seated. We ordered the brown sugar glazed pork chop and it was soooooooo good! The biggest pork chop I have ever eaten. The side of garlic mashed potatoes were excellent. I would order this again for sure. The second entree was a 10 oz ribeye. It was cooked to perfection. It was so tender you could cut it with a fork. Tasted great. We had been told to get dessert but we were stuffed so we didn't but next time we will. This restaurant is off the beaten path but worth the drive to find it and eat. Visited Fish Eye Grill for the first time last night. Had eaten their food at a wedding they catered earlier this year (which was FANTASTIC), so was really looking forward to checking out the restaurant. The food did not disappoint. The rolls served as we were seated were really good and kind of gave you "steakhouse" vibes. Who doesn't love a nice roll !? I appreciated the fact they were small, so as to allow us health-conscious folk to partake and not ruin our meal (or calorie budget) ! I had the shrimp and grits as my main meal, and it was spot-on as shrimp and grits go. 10/10 for me. Very generous portion and the perfect balance of moisture and salt ... queue the mouth watering !! Had a few bites of the blueberry cheesecake for dessert, and I can say that was the best cheesecake I've EVER had ... and I am not a huge cheesecake fan. I love that they're supporting other local businesses !!! Even though the food was flawless, I have to say it's the PLACE that will bring me back. Fish Eye Grill is one restaurant that I do support and make my way to once or twice every quarter due to the distance since I live in Augusta. Us Yelpers are are huge fans of small businesses/ family restaurants that are hidden gems, and I do consider this restaurant to be just that. After tonight's visit, I will be more selective where I spend my time, gas, and money. Let me start off by saying my server, Oakley, was fantastic. Attentive, personable, and gave amazing customer service. She is the reason for one of the stars. I also enjoyed the Southwestern Egg rolls and the salad bar. I do feel there was a nice variety of appetizer to choose from. However, the chicken penne dish lacked flavor and was watery. I did inform my waitress and asked if I can switch out my entree for the fried shrimp basket instead. She was understanding and said she will see what she can do. Waitress came back (not the manager) and shared what the kitchen and supervisor told her. Paraphrasing: the kitchen and supervisor stated this is not their problem or mistake, and because of that, I will still be charge but given $5 off. What a disappointing way to rectify an issue. Never have I heard of a restaurant (chain or small family restaurant) to still charge an unsatisfied customer for the food. If there is an issue, every restaurant I've ever heard of is more than willing to accommodate the customer's need. If this is how business is being conducted, I personally refuse to continue to support. read more

Fish Eye Grill catered a luncheon at my son's job and he came home raving about the food and insisted that my husband and I needed to go try the restaurant. That is high praise coming from a major food critic like our son. He said the brisket was amazing, as well as the macaroni and cheese and other items. We went that night and had the all-you-can-eat fish and shrimp special. Everything was delicious, especially the grits, fried catfish, and fried shrimp. The owner, Ryan, personally checked on every table, and even sat with us for about twenty minutes having the best conversation. Our server, Oakley, was as sweet as can be and did a fabulous job of taking care of us. The entire restaurant is clean, well decorated, and there's plenty of seating. Traveling backroads from Mapquest returning from Hilton Head to home we got hungry on our ride home. Being in rural Georgia on a Sunday we doubted we would find much more than a convenience store with a hot food counter. I got on Yelp and low and behold saw this little gem was not too far off the beaten path and open. We adjusted our route to have lunch there and what a treat. It was buffet style and on par with the best Sunday lunch you could ever get on the grounds with all the senior ladies fixing their best dish! Fried chicken was juicy - green beans were just like my mama's - and the squash casserole and sweet potato casseroles were off the chain! Friendly staff. It's in the middle of nowhere and I'm so glad we found it. They obviously have regulars who stop by, from what I could tell. Small town feel. You have the choice of what items they have at the counter, or something on the menu. My youngest son and I opted for the counter items - Roasted chicken, rice, tomatoes, potatoes. It was awful. Thursday night with only 5 tables, but the service was worse than the Sylvania McDonald's! I don't understand the hype.

We were heading out of town for Fourth of July/ honeymoon weekend and gps took us back roads. About an hour into the trip we were hungry! My husband started asking me to find something, anything which is easier said than done on back roads. As we were driving by he said a steakhouse would be great! I caught a glimpse out of the corner of my eye and we did a uturn asap! We were not disappointed! That weekend they had a 48oz tomahawk steak for the special! My husband & 2 coworkers brought me here to eat dinner on a Thursday night. They told me that this restaurant is visited by the people working at the power plant almost every day they are open. They happen to eat dinner there every Thursday and some Saturdays. *NOTE: they are not open M-W. Building was clean and very nicely decorated. Seats were comfortable & spaced out well. Bathroom was clean & picturesquely "country". Our waitress was very friendly. Although I could tell she was young, she did great with the " construction workers". We are laughing every time she came by to check on us. Both the hostess & our waitress knew my husband and 2 coworkers by name - which is impressive, b/c I am horrible with names! For example: I wish I remembered her name - white, slender, great smile, long blond straight hair - about late teens, early twenties. Most definitely "thumbs up" !! Just a comfortable feel! I can see why it has become a favorite among the out-of-state "traveling" workers, working @ the nuclear plant. They have a good selection of favorites, but with a twist. The duck egg rolls & crab dip was super yummy! Warm soft bread with butter. My husband & I shared a plate for dinner. The portions are large but we had also ordered appetizers. We ordered the pork chops with a brown sugar glaze, garlic mashed potatoes & sweet & sour cabbage. Oh wow! Everything was outstanding. Great flavors! Most definitely hit the "home cooked meal" spot! Which is something my husband misses while traveling. Make sure to order the pork chops medium - if not they come out dry. The garlic in the potatoes was perfect. D the texture was on point. The most surprising part was the cabbage. I'm not a lover of cabbage - but I found myself eating most of it. We were stuffed & had some left over for the next day. Of course, we cannot skip out on dessert. We had heard about the different cheesecakes they made. That day they had a plain, turtle pecan & banana pudding cheesecake. We ordered the banana pudding cheesecake to go... however, we ate the whole thing before leaving! They also have a to-go buffet-type thing. This place is worth the ride if you don't live close. The food is outstanding and the services awesome. Have some of the best steaks on the menu that you can have, two pork chop dishes that are out of this world and the fried shrimp is as good as any as you find at the coast.
