I've see this establishment many times driving through Barnwell. Stopped by this time on the way to our annual book club retreat in Edisto Beach. It was early on Sunday. Not sure about their weekday fare but on Sunday from 11-2 they have a buffet. It was busy but the line wasn't too bad at 11:30 pre-church crowd. The buffet had several kinds of meat, fried fish, lots of traditional southern vegetables, two pasta salads and a potato salad and rooks and cornbread. Desserts included banana pudding, red velvet cake, and a Lane cake. Everyone in our party had the fried chicken although a few samples the fried fish. It was all very tasty and fresh. Between eight of us, we tried everything and all was declared delicious. We didn't get a chance to get seconds because the church folks showed up in droves and the line was out the door! The ambiance was nice and the waitresses checked on us and refilled our drinks regularly although they were very busy. Restaurant is always freezing cold for some reason. Ordered the filet mignon and it was not a filet mignon. When we pointed it out to the waitress, she talked to the kitchen and they said that it looked that way because it was a hand cut steak. It was actually a ribeye with a fair amount of fat. After pointing it out again, they reduced our bill by two or three dollars. read more

The food and service was amazing! The restaurant was very clean and my steak was cooked perfectly.

A pretty decent steak for the price. The quality matched the price and had a good flavor and a nice portion. The fries were a tad limp, but okay. The little side salad was okay and my wife liked her chop steak and baked potato. A nice little find in this neck of the woods. read more

Wayyy too out of date if your 55 and up this place is for you doesn't take card over the phone can't find the menu anywhere but Facebook and it's one page. Really should make it easier to find and order correctly also had about 3 items out of stock should just take them off the menu if you can't make half of it besides fried bs. A very nice meal in pleasant surroundings. Very good service, as well. We rode up to Barnwell to hit a roadside produce stand, and decided to stop for supper. We got there a few minutes before they opened. We were immediately seated and our server, Kansas, took our drink orders. I had the steak with a bourbon sauce, done correctly. I would probably go with medium rare instead of medium next time. Sides were asparagus and grits, which were both excellent. Lori had a grilled chicken & pasta dish, which she had to send back. The menu wasn't clear that it was an alfredo sauce, and Lori can't eat cream. Kansas was very gracious, and we substituted an oil and garlic sauce, which Lori enjoyed very much. I believe her side was green beans, which she said was very good. We enjoyed ourselves, and will most definitely go back. We may try the patio on the lake next time. read more

I have been to Mr B's twice. The food is good and the wait staff is amazing. Food is on time and presented well. Unfortunately the bar tender does not know how to make drinks. I watched her pours. Definitely under pouring. Way to busy on her phone. Also the manager is way to loud and I found it distracting and annoying. Her time would be better spent paying attention to her staff than interacting with her friends. Also both times I went they were out of menu items. Last night they had zero desserts. read more

We ate Mr. B's for both lunch and dinner during our stay in Barnwell. Their cheeseburger is both large and delicious. I got my burger with French fries (twice) and sweet potato fries the third time. Both types of fries were very good. I wouldn't recommend eating here if you are pressed for time. Overall a good dining experience. read more

This place is a hidden gem in Barnwell County. It sits right near the lake so it is nice for a night out or date night. When we arrived we sat at the bar; it was open seating. I ordered some drinks including a Moscow mule. It was good it just needed a little bit more alcohol. The bartender was nice but could've been more attentive. I ordered a Caesar salad, a fried shrimp platter with a baked potato and sautéed squash and zucchini. The food was really good. It was quite impressive for a joint in the middle of nowhere.The price was also more than reasonable for the food received. My only critique would be more alcohol and in the drinks and a more attentive wait staff. read more

We go to Mr. B's a lot for family birthdays, celebrations, etc. While the food is excellent, service and prices are what made me give a lower rating. The other night I got the lemon garlic chicken special. Chicken breast and 2 sides...they do have this exact meal on the menu without the seasoning for $12.95. I got the special and my bill for this item was $16.95...it was good but not that good. Service is a little below average. Our waitress wasn't personal at all and very forgetful. The best experience we have is when Brandi serves us. She is only there on Tuesday's now so I would suggest going to the bar when she is there. read more

I love dining at Mr. B's I live in Charleston and come home to Barnwell often. I have traveled in my work career and have eaten at many restaurants all over the place. For a small town, this place can hold its own. Food is good, drinks are cold, atmosphere is just right. Staff is friendly and responsive. The place is always clean and comfortable. Recently had salmon. As good as any I have had anywhere. My wife and son are fans as well When we come to Barnwell, we always eat at Mr. B's Don't forget the desserts. Customer service needs to be better- more help needed. There was a long wait and all someone said was how many in your party and I'll be with you in a min- no one ever showed so we left and there were three tables available. This was my second time dining here. This time did not disappoint and the service and food was exceptional. Last night we had Candice (I think). She was excellent. There were four in my party and we were pleased. Last night they tried something different and deep friend the rolls. That was a great idea. They tasted like a fresh donut. I told her if they sprinkled it with confectioners sugar they may be on to something. (If they do it I will be sure to remind them it was my suggestion when I return) so I can try one (on the house). I am not local however, we will be sure to visit when we are in town and need a place out. We ordered the seafood platter. My husband and I split it and the server was nice enough to split it for us on two plates to make it easier. Thanks Candice. My MIL and FIL ordered the shrimp platter. His was grilled and hers was fried. Both had a sweet potato. The salad was fresh and the green beans were great. I highly recommend this restaurant. I had concerns because from the outside it looks like an industrial building, maybe a mechanic. But on the inside is very welcoming and nice. Not at all like it looked on the outside. I had to walk almost to the kitchen before someone poked their head out and said hello. My girlfriend and I opted to have an appetizer and split an entree. The catfish zingers were absolutely delicious. Perfect amount of spicy and tasted fresh. We split the blackened tilapia with asparagus. It was very good, but I expected larger portions for the price. It was 1 piece of tilapia cut in half, and maybe 6 stalks of asparagus. That's my only negative. Well that and the servers were not very attentive even though we were the only table in the place. Ok food, if you're into fried chicken and rice everyday. You would think a restaurant that claims to be a 5 star would have a variety of foods. This restaurant is located next to a lake in Barnwell South Carolina. They have an outside deck which is quite nice in the afternoon. The drinks served at this location are not mixed and or made correctly. They have different ingredients that you normally don't find in a drink at other locations. The food that is served is of country origin, however they offer a verity of fish and or other sea foods. There are no sporting events held at the bar like most restaurants where they rent the top fights and or MMA events for their customers to watch. No wifi available for the public. No common courtesy, we had to seat ourselves at this location. We were not greeted accordingly, and or professionally. This is essentially a serve yourself restaurant. read more

Lovely view of the lake and great back room with full service bar for parties or group get together. I ordered a customizable burger and it was about what I expected - decent burger but nothing to make me remember it the next day. The menu was very basic with typical dishes that you can find anywhere, but they seemed to do a good job of execution based off of the comments from my family members. I DID love that they served everyone lemon squares after our group meal - they were super delicious and chewy and had a very nice raspberry jam on top as well. We were very pleased with our meal last night , lots of seafood choices . We both had the Tuna my sweetie had his pan seared my grilled both cooked to perfection with a pineapple chutney . The food was good, but don't expect to be going to a fine dining establishment. Prices seemed a little steep for this type of restaurant. The staff was mediocre with service. Silverware came in paper wrappers. No napkins on the table. Wine selections were minimal. read more

The specials are really the only thing they have going for them at lunch. Everything on the menu seems to be frozen and nothing special. The prices are absurd for what you get and God help you if you would like a burger with anything other than ketchup on it. They charge extra for everything and nickle and dime you to death when their prices are already too high for the quality. It seems like they save all the good food for dinner and feed the chosen frozen for lunch. Hopefully the owner will realize that you can't charge gourmet prices for frozen food with zero flavor. read more
