We definitely enjoyed Babette. We decided to come here after looking for new French restaurants, and this popped up. We didn't have reservations, but it was already 9.30 pm, so we decided to try walking in. We were lucky since there was an open table for 2, but I strongly recommend making a reservation before coming here. The restaurant is small, and it fills up quite quickly. The restaurant itself is very cozy and inviting. With dimmed lighting and bottles of wine in a center table, it's quite a beautiful yet simply decorated. The service was attentive and very friendly. Everyone who works there was polite and very knowledgeable about their dishes. Food coming out of the kitchen takes a little more time than normal, but it didn't matter... we had wine and bread. Everything we ordered was delicious, except maybe the apple pie, which was average..... but everything else was perfect. Beet tartare Fennel salad Snapper capers and lemongrass. There is a sign in one of the mirrors here that says: Yes to all of it. I feel this statement wraps up the full experience here. The food is pure alchemy, made with such attention to detail and overall flavour. For dinner I recommend that you do a reservation as the restaurant has been selling out. The beet tartare was exceptional. The gnocchi was phenomenal and the tarte tartin was second to none. Service was just as impressive. The restaurant is tasteful without being pretentious or uptight. Feel this is the one of the top tier restaurants in South Florida as of this writing. It's and elevated journey worthy of your attention and intrigue. So high class, so good. read more

As a local, I was excited when I walked past La Jolla and noticed a restaurant had opened within! The beautiful interior design and romantic setting led me to immediately book a reservation for my birthday. Given that they are new, there are kinks to still work out but so much potential. Be prepared for small serving sizes for the entrees, and I mean very small but beautiful ambiance. The house focaccia and butter were yummy and a nice touch. The lobster was honestly a laughable portion, literally we all chuckled a little when it arrived. My husband ate it in two, maybe three bites. My own steak dish was also smaller than expected. The chef sent out a complimentary salad which was so full of flavor and also topped the tuna tartare with caviar for us on the house. I was very excited about the basque cheesecake remembering how amazing the cheesecakes I had in Basque Country were. Again, disappointed with the portion but wonderful flavor. I wanted so badly to love it but the portions are so small you tend to leave feeling a bit robbed. Lovely experience though. Nice for a date night or small group. read more

There is a great new restaurant in Coral Gables on Alcazar Avenue in a beautiful old building with a nice cozy inside and a large terrace outside. The food is superb. We had the endive salad, the beet tartare and the cavatelli pasta with lamb ragout. All were creative and delicious. The apple tarte tatin for dessert wasn't too bad either. Bottles of wine were very reasonable. As of this writing we were told the restaurant has only been open for 9 weeks, but the inside was full and there were 4-5 table occupied outside. This will be a great Coral Gables tradition. read more

It was my first time visiting this restaurant with my good friend who had chosen it for us. It's inviting from the outside and just as cozy on the inside. We tried many of the items from the menu. We started out with a Spanish bottle of wine which was so smooth. We had their homemade focaccia and butter which was made with absolute love. We then started out with the crab truffle flan (chawanmushi). This was my friends favorite. The broth was delicious and flavorful. My personal favorite appetizer was the Endives salad. I absolutely loved it and will think about it for days to come. So simple but amazing. For our entrees, we were highly recommended the lamb ragu. My friend chose this while I decided the strip sirloin. The lamb for the ragu is cooked for 8 hours and it was truly amazing. I'm more of a beef lover, so I throughly enjoyed my tender sirloin with its touch of crisp. Very texturally pleasing for me lol it is served with a bit of mash potatoes and a very flavorful sauce/reduction. For dessert we had a fondant type lava cake with a vanilla gelato on top. It was perfectly sweet and a great choice to end the meal with. The service from the very beginning was so lovely and warm and professional. The owners are making sure their guests are happy as well. They have created a very inviting and cozy place that I will look forward to revisiting. P.S. the music playlist is another aspect I loved. It leaves you wondering.. what's coming up next? A surprise for the ears. It's a unique touch that we really appreciated. I regret not getting more pictures. read more

The food was very good, but unfortunately, the service was terrible. While two members of our party were late, we waited a half hour after being seated before a server came to our table to introduce themselves and to begin taking our orders. There were several long stretches of time in between points where a server would check on our table. We often struggled to get a servers's attention for water or other drinks because they were not acknowledging our table. While servers took plates away after each course, we were served a new course without getting new plates and had to ask for them. Also, servers were not always aware of who ordered which item. Given most of the other reviews, this may have been an off night. But, other tables didn't seem to be experiencing the same problems. read more

The service was spotty and not befitting a restaurant that feigns to be a fine dining establishment. Atmosphere was excellent -quiet, understated decor. Very relaxing. Service was very good, some minor snafus that need to be cleaned up if the service is to match an amazing meal. Food was superb - this is a hidden gem of a restaurant. You won't find better in the area! Amuse bouche was an outstanding carrot and ginger soup - excellent. One of our party wanted to order an appetizer of it. Neither taste overwhelming the other - I was afraid the ginger would be too strong, but it was perfect, just enough but not too strong. Beet tartar was surprisingly excellent - not much of a beet person, but chopped up and a light slightly spicy dressing made me want to try to make it at home. Beef tartar was very good, but not at the level of the beet. Halibut was perfectly prepared, with a light sauce thankfully on the side (in case) but fortunately it was perfect with the fish. Suckling pig was PERFECT. Crispy skin but not too thick/tough, meat tender and juicy, not dried out, and a perfect sauce to accompany but not overwhelm the pig. We were too full to try anything but one dessert - flourless chocolate cake - also amazing. One of the best three restaurants that we have eaten at in Miami in the past three or four years. read more

I had the pleasure of dining here last night and absolutely fell in love. Walking up to the restaurant I was already blown away. The landscaping was gorgeous and the ambience was the perfect mix of classy, romantic, and sophisticated. Everyone who worked at the restaurant was full of energy and knowledge of everything on the menu. They helped my friends and I make excellent choices for not only appetizers and wine but dinner and dessert as well. Absolutely everything we had was delicious. Confused service. We sat for 15 minutes without water or menus. Then they brought half the table menus, only after we asked. Food fairly ok. Atmosphere boring. They charge $50 per person in advance as a hold on one credit card, then they deduct it from the total check. But that does not work for a group. The crab flan is a soup.
