Cute cafe! After we ate sushi at a Japanese restaurant across from this cafe, we decided to visit Calamillor to have some coffee. We told our waitress that we just ate and wanted to have some coffee. And immediately she wasn't happy about it. She threw the cafe menu to our table. We were not happy about her attitude but the coffee was excellent! We shared a cake and it was delicious! Another male waiter who didn't speak any English was very friendly! We tried to communicate with a little Spanish and English.

Typical spanish morning breakfast w bon bon coffee.

A good legit spanish restaurant, food, service and ambiance are good. Portions so so with mid category pricing. The parking? watch out the south miami parking police are out there if you pass 1 minute to fine you with no exceptions even if you arrive when getting ticketed like us. I had a typical spanish breakfast, serrano ham, egg white, house potatoes & avocado, toast with a bon bon coffee, no dessert. About $80 for 2, food, tip, taxes.

If you're Old school Miami, you'll remember the corner of Bird Road and 57th Avenue as Allen's Drugs, a retro pharmacy with a lunch counter. It's been modernized to a glass, storefront and brightly lit Spanish restaurant from where you can also buy wine and pastries for your own party. I stopped recently for some tapas, and I have to say it was a very good experience, a very yummy dinner. Although they have a full entrée menu, I just went for tapas. My starter was their Huevos Estrellados; always a favorite! Unlike chain Spanish restaurants, here it starts with a base of real thinly sliced potatoes. I asked for both chorizo and Cinco Jotas ham, and had it topped with a sunny side up egg. My other favorite was their Angus beef stuffed piquillo peppers, with a yummy and mildly sauce. My basque cheesecake - nice and moist inside - made for a sweet closing. Portions were big enough that I had leftovers for lunch. Service was pleasant and timely. They were attentive to detail enough that although normally their six croqueta order includes two cod, two chorizo & two jam, they switched mine to make it three chorizo and three jam. I would definitely come back!

Very sano spanish joint with everything you would expect..octopus, tapas, tortilla de patatas, great wine. Breakfast is the best here. Best service, very clean place. Bathrooms too !

Stumbled on to this gem of a restaurant after a visit to Quest Diagnostics across the street on Bird Road. Very classy Spanish establishment with excellent pastries, wine and food. I'm sitting next to the pastry case and cannot take my eyes off of the Black Forest and Guava Cheese croissant--all baked on premise. I was here for breakfast and found the dish with scrambled eggs, toast, potatoes and smoked salmon at $21 to be not only tasty but a good value. Quality ingredients throughout. They even serve the highest quality of Spanish jamon on the market--Cinco Jotas. I will definitely be adding Cala Millor to my rotation and plan on coming back for lunch, happy hour and/or dinner.

Don't walk, run to this hidden gem. I LOVE this place and I am a regular. Everything here is fresh and delicious. Customer service is excellent and they are attentive. Their paella says for 2 people, but it is such a large portion, 4-5 people can easily share this if they eat one plate each! It's really tasty and well made. The appetizers I've had were croquetas and prosciutto ibérico. Both delicious! Croquetas are crispy inside and soft mix inside - my favorite flavor is the jamon (ham). The cod flavor one is a close second! The prosciutto ibérico was delicious as well and shareable. My brother in law had a cheeseburger and it looked well constructed. He said it was an excellent entree choice, juicy and delicious! I gotta try this another time! My mother in law had breakfast entree with eggs and bacon. She loved it! My husband and I stop here for coffee all the time. I get lattes and he gets espresso. We loveeeee the coffee here. My lattes taste so smoooth, love it! Dessert - pistachio ice cream is really good. But the star of the show is the BASQUE CHEESECAKE!!! it is my absolute favorite dessert I keep coming back to eat. I've purchased a whole basque cheesecake to bring over to a family gathering and it was a HIT! Everyone loved it and finished the whole thing. In conclusion, the vibe, atmosphere, customer service, decor and food here is SPECTACULAR!!! 10/10!!!

What an incredible experience! This restaurant gets a 10/10. There is nothing that we did not like. The ambiance is excellent. They even considered the acústica. Our server Janiel was friendly, funny and very helpful. The food was incredible. We had a pitcher of red sangria that was delightful and served about 4 glasses each (2 of us). We had the octopus in a creamy potato that was amazing. You would never have guessed it was potato. It was creamy and the octopus was cooked to perfection. We also had a cheese and ibérico ham that was to die for. We shared a shrimp and octopus paella style rice that was amazing. The seafood was fresh and perfectly cooked. The rice was soupy as it should be and perfectly seasoned. For dessert we had a basque cheese cake that I could not describe. All I can say is I do not really like cheese cake and this is now my favorite dessert. Our server brought us some guava to put on the dessert and OMG! Amazing! I have not had such a perfect dinning experience in a while! Calamillor, you out did yourself and you have gained a returning client! The experience was so great, I forgot to take pics of all y dishes!

Had breakfast at CalaMillor on a recent Friday morning. The staff was friendly and welcoming. We were seated quickly. The restaurant was very clean, bright and airy. Parking was a bit of a walk but not terrible. The baked goods looked amazing but we didn't try any. We had the ham croquettes, patatas brava, eggs with Serrano ham and the iberico tomato toast. We also ordered an espresso and cappuccino. Everything was pretty good, but not great. The coffees however were outstanding! So good that we had to ask what coffee brand they used. Not sure we'd return for the food but we would definitely return for the coffee. I honestly think Bulla is far superior to CalaMillor. The food is better and the prices are as well.

If you take anything from this review, it's try their Smash Burger. Top tier. Competes with some of the best I've ever had, including Apocalypse BBQ, Vice Versa, and Cowie Burger. The patties are smashed with crisp, lacy edges. Cheese is melted flawlessly, helped by a creamy sauce that gives everything this extra rich finish. You also get a subtle sweet-onion note. We've also tried the octopus and the cachopo. They were solid, but the burger is the clear winner here. No free parking, but the burgers worth it!!

So overall, not bad. Great service. Cheese and jamon platter not worth it, just some manchego pieces with assorted salami and jamon. The burger tho, worth it, definitely get that. Don't really need a reservation, this place doesn't get filled as much.

Came here for a late breakfast and was starving. Menu is definitely interesting One minute I'm looking at breakfast options like croissants to grillled octopus and table served paella. We saw some friends and were invited to join the table. This was great cause the place was packed and had a wait, good sign. We started with the fish croquetta's with cafe con leche. Perfect amount of salt and not greasy. The plain croissant was huge and crispy. I opted for something completely different t for myself and went with the tuna sandwich that came with a wild salad. It was delish. The tuna had the right amount of may and veggies along with the toasted perfectly thick bread and the salad was the perfect compliment. Around the table there was chorizo croquetta's, Nutella croissants, a.d this egg and chorizo dish that my dad devoured. So yeah, brunch was great. Stop by and check it out.

Arroz con leche. A bit too runny for my taste.

I really enjoyed my lunch at this Spanish restaurant & bakery with a group of 5. What's really great about this space is all the windows surrounding the table on the really busy corner of Bird and Red. There's ample street parking on the side streets. The food is very creative Spanish cuisine. I think the best thing is to come in a group and get a bunch of dishes to try. The croquettes are a must, especially the cod croquettes. They're so soft and melt in your mouth, with a crispy outer crust. I included pictures of a few dishes. Some of the food was under seasoned, so you might want to ensure that you have a salt and pepper shaker on the table before the food arrives to easily adjust to taste. They had a great Prix Fixe option that gave you the choice of appetizer, main, and dessert, as well as coffee or tea options. It was $35 on 01/07/25. The steak option added $5 to that.

We chose a Spanish Urbión Rioja reserva wine and it was quite delectable. We also ordered 2 Coke zeros. For our starters, we selected: * 2 Chips de Berenjena. Eggplant chips, flash fried and drizzled with honey. These are the best!!! So delicious, we ordered 2 servings and everyone in the restaurant was ordering them. * Fried Calamari with a very tasty aioli sauce. * Gulas de Ajillo Baby eels cooked in garlic sauce and olive oil - delicious. This dish is very special to us because my Husband eats it every time we visit Barcelona. * Pulpo a la Plancha - Grilled octopus with creamy black rice made of calamari ink. The rice was excellent, absolutely luscious. * Pulpo a la Gallega. Boiled octopus and boiled potatoes drizzled with paprika and olive oil. The steak had no char and was overdone for a filet. My Husband also ordered * Patatas a la Giralda - their twist on patatas bravas with two homemade signature sauces. These were crispy, and delicous. Served underneath the 2 sauces. * I ordered Grilled Chicken with salad. I was taken aback by the server for food shaming me to order something pricier, not just basic chicken. That's not cool. I also got a side of * Patatas - fried steak fries, very crunchy paired well with our food. For dessert we had * Crema Catalana, which is a Spanish syle Crème brûlée. This dessert has probably been the smallest dessert I've ever ordered. Not to mention, the consistency, the taste and color was all wrong. It was as if you had a Jello vanilla pudding with a miniscule amount of hardened caramelized sugar. Definitely not getting this desert again. I'd like to try the Tarta de Santiago next time. Once our food arrived the Flamenco show began and it was glorious!! The lead male vocalist was phenomenal! His vocal range and guitar skills were admirable. The show began with singing first and then the dancer started. She was a personable, very talented dancer and performer. At one point she locked eyes with me and before I knew it I was up there dancing with her, which was so much fun! We had never heard of it until our friends mentioned it as they said they really enjoyed it and were good friends with the owner. It has deli section with lots of Spanish cheeses and other items; also, has a wonderful selection of Spanish wines. Hard to miss as there are bottles everywhere. The vibe was that of small European type cafe in Spain and Portugal and was very warm and cozy. The owners are especially nice and provided us with some complimentary bread and some home made crab and salmon spreads with Aoli that were awesome. The restaurant is small so reservations are definitely in order if you are thinking on checking them out and I really recommend that you do. What the owners are saving in operational overhead makes it's way to the quality of their food. We all decided to go Tapas style so we could try a little of the more popular dishes and I have to say it was the right approach. No need to worry on portion sizes either as they are excellent and perfect for sharing. From the home made ham and cod croquettes to the traditional lacón con papas, Spanish seafood medley "Mal de Vida" it was all fresh, made to order and delicious. We really had a wonderful time, eating and reminiscing which is what it's all about right? Parking can be a bit of a problem so if you can't find a spot in the strip mall itself, their is public street parking available and you can drive around back to the residential neighborhood and park anywhere you do not see a "No Parking" sign. This cozy little gem is as good if not better than many of the upscale Spanish restaurants in Miami and for way less money. We had a reservation for a party of seven, yet the host was unwelcoming, dry, and made us feel more like an inconvenience than guests. We were told to "sit down" with no warmth or hospitality whatsoever. The ambiance was equally upsetting. For a Spanish taverna, we expected a lively, warm atmosphere--music, conversation, and a welcoming vibe. Instead, the restaurant felt dead silent, stiff, and uncomfortable. It was so quiet and stuffy that we didn't even feel comfortable speaking with each other. We enjoy fine dining, but this was absolutely not that experience. After receiving water, we waited--and waited--with no service and no acknowledgment from any staff member. Despite being a group of seven, no one approached our table for quite some time. Eventually, we felt so uncomfortable and ignored that we all got up and left. Even my mom, who waited to let the staff know we were leaving, had to walk away because no one bothered to come over. Upon being seated, we were provided with the regular menu and the Miami Spice Lunch menu. The Miami Spice Lunch, which has now become a daily Executive Lunch special, is a standout value. The portion sizes and the quality of the Argentinian steaks speak for themselves. As a group, here's what we ordered: Starters - Ham and Cheese Empanadas - Morcilla - Grilled Provolone Each starter delivered exactly what you'd expect from an Argentinian steakhouse. The empanadas were warm and flaky, the morcilla was rich and well seasoned, and the grilled provolone came out bubbling and perfect for sharing amongst our table with the restaurant's complementary bread basket. Entrée: - New York Strip Steak, 12 oz This was the only cut of steak we ordered. It was cooked to each of our desired temperatures and seasoned simply, letting the quality of the beef speak for itself. It is clear why La Cabrera has a reputation as one of Latin America's best restaurants. Sauces on the side, which included a BBQ sauce, and a chimichurri, were left for our choosing and were used for the side dishes more than anything. Sides: - French Fries - Jasmine Rice Both sides complemented the steak well. The fries were crispy and large in size. My father-in-law, a cuban man who's very serious about his rice dishes, thought the jasmine rice was very good. Dessert: - Dulce de Leche Ice Cream with Cone - Dulce de Leche Pancakes The ice cream was smooth and rich, while the pancakes were finished with a sugary powder coating that was impossible to resist. This lunch reinforced why La Cabrera continues to be stand out in a crowded field of steakhouses. Between the consistency, generous portions, and the value of their daily menu specials, it's an easy recommendation whether you're bringing family, hosting someone from out of town, or simply looking for a great lunch in Coconut Grove.
