Babalouise is right down the street from my house, how convenient, right!? For the last two days I had called trying to book an appointment with no answer. Finally, on the third day, a person decided to answer the phone! wow! lucky me! I booked an appointment. I walked in and stood at the reception desk wondering how to check in...oh okay...well why WOULDN'T I think to look for the receptionist sitting down in the guest area scrolling through his phone?! I gave this place multiple chances because of how close it is to my house... I wasn't feeling the professionalism and the complete and total lack of customer service so I just quietly decided to dip out before my appointment so that I could call and cancel over the phone. I'm walking along, minding my own business... when this fucking guy comes running after me and calling me rude and inconsiderate and basically HOW DARE I leave?!?! The same guy who barely acknowledged me when I walked in the door is now CHASING after me and yelling at me in the middle of the street...seriously? uhm. I can get better customer service at supercuts. I don't need some fucking moron flailing his arms at me and yelling in the middle of the street because I decided against bangs. ABSOLUTELY do NOT go here unless you feel like being humiliated and attacked. Get rid of the forty year old infant who LITERALLY chases your customers away. read more

I just recently moved to Ballard and this shop was super conveniently located. I called and got an appointment same day-awesome! I walked in and was introduced to my stylist Gaia. I've visited a lot of salons around Seattle and I have to say this was the first haircut that I really loved! Not only was it not awkward at all (I usually feel like conversation is hard to come by when I get my hair done, but Gaia and I talked and laughed the whole time like we've been friends for a long time), but she did such a good job on my hair! She respected that I wanted to keep as much length as possible and spent a lot of time asking about how I style my hair normally and really focusing on that. Also, usually stylists try to upsell you on a ton of products that they use, and I was impressed that she didn't do that at all. I walked out of the salon the happiest I've been in a long time with a haircut. The salon was super cute too and they let the stylists bring their dogs to work! Love it! I told her I wanted to bring my boyfriend in to get his hair cut as well and she actually recommended another stylist at the salon. I was amazed to see that they really have the best interest of the customer in mind and want each person to see someone who suits their needs perfectly. I will DEFINITELY be returning! read more

I have naturally curly hair, or poofy is the better word! So, naturally, it is very hard to find someone with the ability to give me what I want in cut and color! I have searched high and low with very rare success, but now that I found Babalouise and the wonderful stylist Heather I have no more worries. Heather has lightened, darkened, cut and foiled my hair about 3 times in the last 8 months. The last time I went into see Heather I was getting ready to leave town for 5 months for work. I wanted my hair to be a little darker with more natural highlights and just the tiniest trim for my uber curly hair that I straighten. I knew that the sun would lighten my hair up(headed south) and I wanted the grow out to look natural. Heather does EXACTLY what you ask for. She foiled, my hair, 3 different colors, perfectly! And not only was it perfect the day I got it, but now four months later, my hair is grown out and she did just the right amount of color to match what would be lightened. It's AMAZING! So blown away! No ONE else is ever touching my hair. read more

I no longer live in Washington state, and sadly I cant always fly up there every time i want my hair done, but if i could, i would definitely come to Babalouise to have Heather do my hair! Heather is very personable and i trust her implicitly with my hair. She is not one of the type of stylists that when you tell her how you want her hair she just ignores you and does what she wants, she actually does what you ask for! Every time i had ever gotten my hair done by her, i would just tell her what i want and she would make suggestions based on my hair type, My hair is fine and wavy, not to mention my natural color is dirty blond. After i had moved back to Utah i tried to have some low-lights put in my hair at another salon, lets just say my hair looked green! Glad i happened to be visiting my family in Washington, heather made time in her busy schedule to fix my hair, she is great at color correction, and the cuts she gave me always looked great. I miss you girlie! read more

This is a low-key salon and all the people are very friendly and cool. Bobh has done my hair three times so far, and I've been really happy every time. He's a visual artist as well, and it shows in his thoughtful and intuitive approach. I'm always conservative going to someone new, but was getting really tired of my typical layers and wanted to take some gradual steps toward something more unique if I could find a stylist to trust. His pace of inspiration without pressure is good. No drastic changes, but nudging in the right direction. As he's gotten to know my personality and style he has had good ideas that work well for me and my hair. My haircuts from him have looked good for a long time, which is nice for my busy schedule. It's actually been a couple months and I'm still getting compliments. This is a good stylist! Oh yeah, and the place is chill and really affordable, and everyone's having really weird conversations that crack me up. read more

They treat you right at BaBaLouise! It's a friendly, upbeat place but without the relentless loud music -- and the relentless hard-sell -- of so many other salons. As soon as you show up for your appointment they offer you an all-natural Hansen's Soda, which is a nice touch on a warm day. The stylists are friendly, not phony (I like Tracey, myself) and they enjoy their work. As I waited for my color to set I watched a stylist turn a middle-aged woman's long, somewhat dull hair into a shiny, modern 'do that made her look worlds better. She left with a little grin on her face, as though she couldn't quite believe how well it had turned out. My own haircut was just great and I will be back. Oh, and I love the fact that you can get 20% off a facial just by booking during a weekday afternoon. "Happy hour," indeed. read more

Really R.L.? I have been going to Babalouise for almost 6 years. I've seen a few different great stylists, but I'm always sad if I made my appointment on a day when Sadie (the shop dog) is not there. Over the years of going there, I have always had a comfortable, relaxing experience. I have never even heard her bark. She is always tucked under her cubby sweetly sleeping. Sometimes she won't even wake up to come say Hi. I love there is a shop dog and it makes my experience at Babalouise so much more enjoyable. I guess you can't satisfy everyone. Looking at all the other reviews R.L. posted. Yelp is just your negative venting tool. Thanks Babalousie and give Sadie a little love from me and the rest of her Fans. read more

Wow, I can't stop admiring my hair!!!! This is an amazing salon and can't believe I haven't been here sooner considering it is in my neighborhood. I have heard great reviews from my friends and had to check it out for myself. I imagine I am a nightmare for stylists after years of bad treatment from numerous salons. I was fortunate enough to get Holly who not only gave me the best color that evened out my hair, but she also gave me the absolute best set of bangs I've ever had. My coworkers are jealous to say the least. Thank you so much Holly, I will be telling my friends what wonderful service and styling you gave me. Babalousie is a true gem in Ballard! read more

Booked an appointment for a partial foil with Sam...but left with that AND a haircut. I was a little annoyed when the stylist INISISTED I get a haircut in addition to what I came in for. I hesistated at first, but eventually gave in as I felt guilt-tripped into getting an unwanted $40 haircut. Sam said I was in need of trim asap. I knew she was right, I knew my hair looked a bit damaged - the split ends were adding up. But didn't like the way she went about selling it. I gave 3 stars because the partial foil turned out great and the unwanted haircut wasn't too bad. I don't know that I'd go back...but overall was satisfied with the outcome. read more

Heather is amazing! She has been cutting and coloring my hair for a couple of years now..and she always does a great job. The depth of the color she applies to my hair changes as it grows out, and I always get compliments on it! The prices at Babalouise are affordable as well, which this mother appreciates. I never have a problem getting into see Heather, and take my children to see her as well. I like the changing art work, which is always something fun and catches my eye. The Salon is swanky too, and not overpretentious by any means...love the street parking! Thanks Heather!! read more

I am new to Seattle and was referred here by the waitress at a diner I frequent. It is important to me that I patronize a local business. I was told to see Joie and was not disappointed. I have a lot of anxiety when it comes to getting my hair done. I have very long hair and people often want to do something odd or "daring" with it. Joie listened to what I had to say, had a plan in place was very thoughtful and friendly. When I'm nervous I chatter like crazy and she was very patient. In the end, I walked out loving my new cut and feeling good about the city and myself. read more

Nikki has done it again - and I'm in love with this salon! She performed her magic on my thick, poof-y hair and gave me a cut that is manageable and stylish. As she was styling, she showed me some tricks to keep my new bangs in place and also walked me through what she was doing and why. The receptionists here are awesome, as well. I'm always greeted with a smile and a "hello!" I'll be back very soon to get my bangs trimmed and to see all the smiling faces here. Oh, and also to throw some more color into my hair! ;) read more

Love my cut! Nikki is awesome. She was easy to talk to and super nice. She really listened to what I wanted, what my concerns were and gave me a haircut that was exactly what I asked for. When she was styling my hair she explained what she was doing and what products she was using so that I could replicate the look at home, but there was no hard sell on any products, which was nice. Not only was the cut great but the price was so reasonable! This was yet another great experience at Babalouise. read more

I've been going to this salon regularly for about a year now, and have yet to be dissapointed. :) I come in about once a month for a cut and full foil color and have always been happy with the results! My work schedule is a little hectic so Ive seen a bunch of stylists (some of the stylists stay super late, thank goodness!). Cindy, Meegan (sp?) and Chad are my favorites! Pleasant, and totally pro at what they do. Thanks for being so awesome Baba Louise! :) read more

I love this place! I get my hair done by Diane, who is fabulous. Probably one of the most sincerely nice people I've met. I have become familiar with the other stylists and the estheticians and I have to say, they are a great group of people, very friendly and talented. BaBaLouise has a very laid back vibe but, don't let that fool you, you will get the same results here is you would in a very high-end fancy salon, just much less expensive. read more

Donna is amazing! The word-of-mouth I've heard about her is true. For one thing, very few hairdressers can cut men's hair properly -- stylish but also angled right. It's taken me three years in Seattle to find someone like that, and now I have. Plus, she's really fun, knowledgeable and attentive. Every hairdresser asks if you use product, etc., but Donna actually gave me useful hair-care advice. My hair has never looked better! read more

I want to rave about stylist, Nigel Collier, who has cut my hair for years. He just recently joined the staff at Baba Louise. Not only does Nigel give a great haircut ( he always gets it just right!) but he is so much fun. I always look forward to my appointments with Nigel to talk books, movies, music, popular culture -- knowing I will not only learn something, but will laugh a lot while getting a great haircut! read more

I got my hair done with Nikki at Babalouise, and the whole experience was just wonderful. She listened to me and quickly understood exactly what color and cut I was envisioning, executed it perfectly (it's been 3 months, and I still LOVE my hair color), and was great to talk with during the whole process. They also provided me with tea and were very hospitable. The price was very reasonable as well. Check them out! read more

Heather is amazing! I'm very picky when it comes to my hair. I usually only trust myself when doing anything with it. The last time I cut my own hair, I just couldn't get the back right.. I decided to turn it over to a professional. I explained to Heather what I wanted and she went above and beyond. I've never had a hairstylist that I've returned to, but I will definitely be seeing Heather again! read more
