Not sure why this location seems to be cursed or something but they have typically been replaced with another kabob place. The first one was really good, the second business was okay, but this third one seems to good again. We got the chicken and gyro meat wrap and it was very flavorful and served on a fresh fluffy pita bread. It was a little tricky to eat but just need some extra care to fold/roll it up back up to eat. Baba Kabab on Poway road is a must try location! Food is packed with flavor and extremely well made. Past couple of weeks I've tried the baba kabab sandwich , beef and chicken entree. Food was as delicious as it looked! The staff is very friendly and accommodate any special requests. For the baba kabab sandwich, I would recommend the spicy option, gives it a good punch! This kabob shop is great. That tibia family owned is even better. The service is unmatched. Friendly and welcoming every time we go. My daughter loves the gyro plate. It is her go to and consistently delicious. My husband and I get the chicken kabob plate. The chicken is always cooked perfectly, never dry and always great! Also, the tzatziki sauce is bomb! If you like it hot, they can spice it up for you! I enjoy the soft basmati rice, yogurt sauce, salad, and other dishes. I once had the lamb Palau rice, which was fall-off-the-bone tender and fragrant with raisins. Did you know they also sell ice cream, bottled sauces, baklava, and other items? Fabulous food and service here at Baba Kabob in Poway. I opted for a chicken kabob plate while my dining companion had the chicken pita sandwich. Both were excellently prepared - flavorful with notes of char from the grill. The side salad was fresh with a nice tangy dressing while the rice was fluffy. Baba Kabob is a hidden gem in a sleepy little strip mall in Poway. I love a good pita sandwich and their gyro or chicken schawarma are both fantastic. I order them both spicy and they grill the meat with a flavorful sauce that adds an amazing layer of flavor. I don't know what it's called but they have a lamb shank and rice dish that is super flavorful and aromatic. Enough food for two meals, tastes like home cooking. They usually have something interesting to purchase to take home like baklava or their special spicy sauce. The salads are nothing special, the same good meat on mostly iceberg lettuce. This is a family run restaurant and you can taste the passion that goes into the food. Super friendly staff and I'm glad they were able to survive the COVID downtown. Came in again for lunch and ordered the Kofta (Kobideh) Plate which comes with rice and a small salad. The meat was well seasoned and juicy! My coworker had the Chicken Kabob plate, which also comes with rice and salad. He really liked the seasoned chicken and it looked juicy as well. We split an order of Pita with Hummus. The pita was served hot. It was the kind of pita I like, thick and pillowy, unlike other places that are so thin and dry they mine as well be serving cardboard. It was a nice day so we sat outside and people watched a bit while we waited for our orders. We didn't wait long for our orders to arrive. The customer service here has been consistently friendly from start to finish when I have visited. They even gave out complimentary chocolate muffins to everyone who was dining while I was there today. I'll be back again soon! read more

This is the latest Mediterranean restaurant in this location and the absolute best, hands down! I ordered the beef plate which consisted of rice, filet mignon, salad and a bottle of green tea. I sat down and the chef came over and asked how I would like the beef cooked. He also brought a glass of ice for my tea (I didn't ask). The food came out with two sauces and it was delicious! Such an amazing Kabob store to get some food. We were in the area at a shooting range and I looked for the closest kabob place to us. I saw this place and wanted to try it since it had good reviews. The Beef plate was delicious and I also tried their chicken as well which was nicely marinated. It was the best choice for us to eat here and the guy working the cashier was very nice. They also have ice cream here as well if you want to eat that. We sat in their outside dining area and they bring your food to you when it's ready. It took about 10 minutes for our food to come out since they make it fresh when you order it. The parking situation where this place is at is not bad at all. The best kabob shop in town! Skip the chains stores. This is the go to place for kabobs in Poway! Everything is fresh in our dish, the veggies, the rice and the meats. I'm not a huge fan of rice but I can be picky about it. --Their rice is GREAT, flavorful but not greasy, the grains are separated clearly but not dry. This is among the best I've every had. The kabobs are tasty, tender, juicy and generously proportioned. Add an extra kabob only if you are really, really hungry. If you are reading this, just go and pay them a visit. Chicken kabob Chapli kabob (chicken breast in real saffron seasoning) Beef kabob (filet) Chicken shawarma Gyro (not traditionally afghani, still delicious) Sambosa You can get a great catering deal for about $13-15 per person and forego cooking and cleaning etc. soooooo worth it! I really enjoyed a meal here. My parents and I split some plates that had some rice and some salad. I loved the chicken kabob and the kofta kabob. Very delicious. But if you're not famished, I think you could easily split a plate between two people. There are a TON of soft drinks in bottles for you to choose from. They also have Thrifty's ice cream and baklava for sale. Friendly service. You order at the front and they'll bring it to you at an outdoor table. He made us fresh Afghan tea to complete the True Afghan's tradition Sofra. Tea was a great balance to help the food go smoothly to the resting place in the Volcano . Chicken Kabab was tender, had huge chunks and perfectly grilled. Beef Tikah kabab was delicious and generously cut. Chivs Bolani was delicious a little bit oily.
