It's always a delight to stop here for an authentic Greek meal. The gyro meat here is excellent.

Was all excited to get some Mediterranean food (mid level dining environment) , but l was very disappointed in this expensive food that wasn't worthwhile! The meat (lamb) didn't taste up to par & the plate was filled with salad that was chewy romaine lettuce and a small portion of rice that wasn't even hot (fresh tasting). For someone that has good taste in food, I would give this place a F! Sorry ...The only positive note was that the hostess was very polite. PS: they did accommodate me with a small bowl of rice after I commented on how small the rice portion was! PSS: my husband is very polite compared to me, because I can't stand places that serve food that is a waste of my money! I don't mind paying for food as long as it's well done! I decided to try this place out for lunch after seeing its high ratings, so I was expecting a great meal. When I arrived, I was greeted by Evan who provided a friendly service. Inside the restaurant, there are plenty of seating and there is also outdoor seating. I ordered the Gyros Plate for takeout which came to $28. Evan was kind enough to provide an extra tzatziki sauce and utensils when I asked. One thing I found surprising was the 3.89% credit card fee so bringing cash would be a better option. The portion of the gyro meat was generous, but the pita bread and the rice portions felt a bit small by comparison. The gyro meat itself was very salty which lead me to reach for water throughout my meal. The rice pilaf was flavorful and ended up being my favorite part of the plate. Unfortunately, the Greek salad was dressed with too much vinaigrette making it soggy and slightly unpleasant to eat. The olives tasted old and had a bad aftertaste. The tzatziki sauce is also very watery. For the price of the meal and my experience, it didn't meet my expectations. The food quality felt short and I don't plan on returning. This will be my first and likely my last visit. read more

This is a cute, nicely decorated restaurant in Carmel Mountain with very good food. I really liked the mural on the wall of Santorini (having been there on vacation recently). The rest of the decor and the lights were very modern. We came in for lunch and tried the gyro sandwiches, which were very good and filled with a big portion of tender meat. They also have a wide selection of interesting appetizers; we had the Tarmasalata. The cream cheese spread was very good and veggies were fresh. At first the prices seemed steep, but they seem to give generous portions (though we didn't try the plates). Our server was also quick and efficient. This is the first restaurant where my husband started liking Greek food LOL. Our visit was back in April of 2024. They have pretty mural decor inside the restaurant, but we sat outside because it was such a nice sunny day. He started with their Greek coffee, which they pour from a copper cup at your table. We shared the grilled halloumi, hummus, baba ghanouj, mini spanakopita appetizer, beef kabob plate, and the Greek combination plate. Everything was so fresh and delicious. Not run by a Greek, but the flavors would have one think so. This is a charming little restaurant with some excellent food choices. The appetizers are a nice selection, including hummus, avgolemono soup,, Tara asada, baba ghanouj, dolmades, falafel and grilled halloumi cheese. There are also ten salads from which to choose. The sandwiches and platters are dominated by chicken kabob and gyros meats, all quite tasty, though we had one experience with a dry chicken. They have a vegetarian plate too, and spanakopitas, falafel, lamb and moussaka. Parking can be hit and miss, as it's in a busy center, but, hey, one can ear and then shop at Trader Joe's or Ralph's or any of another twenty selections. read more

Just went in for the first time today for lunch! Met the owner! The guy at the front helped a lot with the menu and what to order. I got the Greek Combination plate to try two different meats. The whole plate was awesome!!! Gyro was very tasty. The salad was very good! Usually I'm skeptical about a salad when it comes to a plate but this was very good. I recommend getting the baba ghanouj as it was a wonderful side to pair with anything really. The portion sizes are pretty big so you could comfortably share it with another person. I am thoroughly disappointed with the food here. We visited on a Sunday afternoon, choosing this Greek restaurant because it was one of the options available with the Synergy Restaurant gift card we purchased from Costco. It's quite expensive for what it is, but we figured the gift card discount would make it worthwhile. We ordered a beef kabob plate ($32 for two skewers) and a chicken gyro ($14.25). Unfortunately, both dishes were major letdowns. The chicken in the gyro had a noticeably sour taste, and despite being very hungry, I couldn't bring myself to eat more than a couple bites of it. The beef kabob was dry and completely lacking in seasoning -- overall, very unappetizing. The salad had olives WITHOUT the pits removed. Is this standard? Careful you don't break your teeth while biting into one. The only redeeming parts of the beef kabob plate were the rice and the white sauce included. In short, I won't be returning. Not only are the entrées overpriced, but the food quality simply doesn't justify the cost. read more

We used to go to this place before Covid because their Kebob and Salads taste perfect, not salty but tasty. I'd rate that past experience 5-star. This time, two reasons why we gave this place only 4 stars are: 1. Over-priced for a neighborhood restaurant at Rancho Bernardo/Poway area. A 2-skewer Kebob plate for almost $30 is way too much considering that we just ate at Baba Kebob in Miramar and their 2-skewer Chicken Kebob plate is around $20. 2. So many comparable Greek/Mediterranean restaurants in the area that offer the same items at reasonable price. This place has to offer something special and unique to be able to justify their premium price. A 4-star rating is still okay but to get a 5-star rating, I recommend adding speciality items in your menu that can justify why you can charge more. read more

Not sure what happened, maybe a change of ownership. But we have been eating here for over 29 years. It has always been excellent, but this experience today was really bad. My beef kabob was so tough that it was inedible. (Chewed on one bite and gave the rest to the dogs. They didn't seem to complain.) My wife's appetizer plate had two scoops of hummus (I guess) and something else that were both soupy and frankly, disgusting. Neither of us could finish our dinner. And the pricing has gone up exorbitantly. We are happy to pay good money for delicious, well prepared food. But this was not that and we will not be returning. A restaurateur knows if he is serving great food or pawning off slop and meat that has been reheated. NOT PLEASED... read more

Expensive for not a lot of food in their steak sandwiches, there was little flavor and the steak was so drippy it turned me off from eating it altogether. The place looks great and is very welcoming. However, the food quality was very disappointing, especially for the price. The falafel was crumbly. We had requested no onion in the salad, but it was all throughout our salads. The dressing was tasty, but the amount was excessive. As a result, the pita soaked up a lot. The rice was bland. The meats I one platter were good but planted on top of the salad, rather than on the rice. Just not a great presentation. The price was out line with the average quality. We tried: Greek Coffee Mythos Beer Appetizer Combo Grilled Halloumi Moussaka Greek Combo Plate w/ Chicken & Souvlaki Zeus Kabob Combo w/ Barg & Kofta Baklava The Appetizer Combo comes with veggies, olives & pita for dipping with hummus, baba ghanoush, tabouleh and tarmasalata (cream cheese w/onion & fish roe). The halloumi is perfectly grilled to delicious perfection. The moussaka is so dreamy and comes with a huge salad and rice as well. The meats here are so good, and come with garlic sauce and tsaziki for dipping. The baklava is the traditional Greek walnut cinnamon and so yummy. I am a big fan of Greek Food. When you are in San Diego this is the place to go. You can either sit down or order to go. There is something for everyone. My daughter who is vegetarian found their vegetarian plate to be delightful. All their plates are filling and come with Pita Bread and a salad. So yummy. The owner was very kind and welcoming. Service was decent. Our waters were filled constantly and order were taken promptly. There is inside and outside seating. The restaurant is relatively quiet and peaceful. The food was delicious. This place is so good! I can't believe I've only recently come in to try it. Came here for a post-hiking meal and was blown away. We were craving Mediterranean food and saw this nearby, so we decided to check it out after some good reviews. It's tucked away in the back of the shopping plaza, very unasuming. Going to move to San Diego so scouting out restaurants around where we want to live. Came here for lunch on a Wednesday. Only one other table was occupied when we came in. There were quite a few takeout orders while we were having lunch, so maybe they do a good takeout business during the week. The server who greeted us said we could sit anywhere. He gave us our menus right away and once we put our menus down, he came right away to take our order. I ordered the Pita Sandwich and a bowl of Avgolemono soup. My sister ordered the Gyro Salad. My gyro sandwich had plenty of Gyro meat. The meat and the pita were moist and not dry. The tzatziki sauce was a little bit runny for my taste, but the flavor was good. My avgolemono soup had good balance between the tartness of the lemon and creaminess of the egg. The pita bread that came with the soup was soft and moist. My sister said her gyro salad was good. She also said her gyro meat was tender and not dry. All in all I think this place is a keeper. read more

Amazing food, great service and a friendly owner. We went in around 645 to get some dinner. We were greeted and seated by the shop owner. Very friendly man who loves what he does and is proud of his product. One of the few remaining restaurants that still get gyro meat from Gyrocones instead of pre sliced, you can taste the difference in the quality. Got take-out as it was very hot inside the restaurant and a heat wave outside. No wonder there were no guests. The person who took the order was friendly and helpful and the food arrived quickly. Half a tabbouleh salad for $9, half a greek salad for $8, and a gyros sandwich for $14.25. The greek salad had some chopped lettuce, 2 olives, 2 slices of cucumber and some cheese sprinkles, dressing on the side which was tossed since it seemed to be largely oil, no herbs, no flavor - definitely overpriced. The tabbouleh salad seemed less than fresh, had pita triangles in excess and about 3 tablespoons of tabbouleh with a consistency of hummus, which contained a chewed up looking stem of pepperoncini (but no pepperoncini). The sandwich was not bad, but heavy on the meat with one slice of tomato. Tsatziki was great though, so 2 stars, but probably won't return for any of the salads; those are better in Poway at the Mediterranean Bakery and Grill next to North Park Produce. read more
