Larry's is truly such a special place. My husband was deployed, and after a long day, I just needed a break from cooking. I brought my two little ones in, and from the moment we arrived, everyone was so warm, welcoming, and helpful. The food came out quickly and was great, my kids loved it, and the staff was incredibly sweet and continued checking on us throughout our meal. As a mom handling everything on my own during deployment, it meant more than they probably realized to walk into a place with two young kids and feel genuinely welcomed instead of overwhelmed. It was such a relief after a long day, and I'm so grateful for the kindness we were shown. We'll definitely be coming back! read more

A nice, casual Greek restaurant in a small shopping complex in Poway. A small shared parking lot. The menu includes a variety of plates, wraps, salads, and burgers. Service was friendly and we were immediately greeted upon arrival. I got a quarter chicken plate which came with a small side salad, side of rice, and pita bread. The food was fresh and tasty but the portions were small especially for the high price point (total cost was $19). I felt they could have gave more rice and salad to beef up the plate. Aloha folks! This was my first time at Larry's Santorini. I walked in and was immediately greeted by Ozzy (Larry's son), who was kind and friendly. He helped me choose a plate. I decided on the Gyros Sandwich and fries. I asked if I could get my fries without salt and he gladly said that he'd be happy to do it That made me happy. He gave me my drink cup and directed me to the self serve drink machine and told me to grab a table and he would bring the food out. The food arrived shortly after he took my order. The fries were hot and crispy (no salt as requested) and the Gyros Sandwich was excellent. Tender, juicy and delicious. Ozzy came back to check on me and I was appreciative of that. This restaurant supports the local community which is nice to see. I highly recommend Larry's Santorini for fresh and delicious Greek food. Tried this spot for the first time because my boyfriend's family always goes here - the gyro meat was some of the best I have had. Perfectly flavorful, not too thin, and overall delicious. Came here for lunch on a Saturday. Busy little strip mall on a popular corner, but parking was easy. We ordered gyros salad and gyros burger special. The gyros was good, but I prefer more seasoning. The tzatziki sauce was bland. The salad was fresh and there was plenty, along with the accompanying bread. It could have used another slice or two of gyros and maybe more than one olive. The burger was great. Loved the bun and seasoning on the fries. The service was very good. I love that there was a steady stream of customers, both eating in and picking up. This place is a random Greek restaurant tucked away in Poway. If you have a chance to stop here, I would! We were coming back from the archery range and were absolutely starving, so we decided to look around for nearby restaurants. A cute, highly rated Greek restaurant popped up, so we decided to give it a shot, and we were not disappointed! The vibe is comfort food with alabaster statues. The man behind the counter who definitely seemed like the owner was super nice and very friendly. He even gave us a free drink because we bought a lot of food! This was the most amazing Greek food I've had. I got the spanakopita plate and it was what dreams are made of. Every bite was excellent. The rice was fabulous. Their fries were perfect. If you want to come to a failing business, then come here. I ordered a euro burger and my friend ordered a shrimp platter with double fries. My friends shrimp plate with six fried shrimp that tasted fishy and a bunch of underseasoned fries for $20. My burger was $12 with a one dollar tip no drink and no fries average at best. A good hole in the wall greek place. This is the place on my work route thatI can walk in and walk out less than 5 minutes later with a fresh hot gyro. The portion sizes are large and filling and they use good quality ingredients which shows in the taste. I'm assuming the guy who is always there running the register is the owner, and he's always been friendly and accomidating. The salad is made with romaine that was green with no wilting and crisp. The tomatoes were red like a tomato should be with a nice flavor. The chicken was really good with a nice seasoning. The pita is soft yet grilled giving it a little crunch too. I asked how long they have been in Poway....26 years. It has taken me 20 years to come here and I found a new favorite food establishment. Tasty, filling Greek plates at their best! Located in a nice little strip mall off Scripps Poway Parkway, and conveniently by my eye doctor's office, lol, sits Santorini Island Grill. We typically get their gyro plates which are pretty substantial in size. Tender, flavorful meat spiced up just right and served up with soft pita bread and salad or fries. My eyes tend to be bigger than my stomach, so I usually get a Kids Gyros or Chicken Kabob meal and it fills me up easily. Feta fries are my weakness as well as their Dolmas so I always pick those up as well. I was surprised at how good their lemon chicken is considering how easily chicken could go from nice and juicy and cooked to perfection, to rubbery and gross. They definitely know how to cook a bird right! Parking is fairly ample, despite the lot of different stores and eateries in the shopping area. Service is friendly and quick. 4 stars! read more
