Size of bowl costing $20. Remote for scale.

The food is pretty average overall and was a bit on the salty side. The portions are also surprisingly small for what you're paying. At this price point, I'd honestly rather go to CAVA, where the food tastes just as good and you get much better value for your money. I ordered two rice bowls for my wife and me, with an additional $2 charge for beef, and the total came out to $42 before tip. For two rice bowls. I understand everything has gotten more expensive, but that price feels pretty outrageous, especially considering neither of us felt full afterward. I appreciate that they offer healthier options, but I don't think the food tastes noticeably different or unique enough to justify such a premium. It almost feels like the "healthy" angle is being used to justify a much higher price for something that should be more moderately priced. Overall, the food is average at best. Between the small portions, salty taste, and $20+ per person price tag before tip, the value just isn't there for me.

Do you ever drive by a place over and over and tell yourself the next time I'm in the area and it's meal time I'm stopping? Well, that was me until the other day. Couldn't decide between BYO bowl or wrap until I realized they are the same price and opt'd for the bowl. Which is a hearty portion, so that was a win. It was yummy, but only one texture. I wish pita chips or slivers were a topping option to give it a little crunch. Could totally sit and people watch from the front barstools, but grabbed and continued home.

This is a nice, casual place for a healthy meal. We came for lunch and it was fairly busy but we managed to get a table. They have outdoor seating in the back as well. We got a rice bowl, pita wrap, and za'atar fries. Rice Bowl- I absolutely love that you can build your own! I got my bowl with chicken shwarma which was tender, juicy and beautifully seasoned. You get to choose a variety of toppings and two sauces. I got tzatziki and hummus which tied all the flavors together. The tomatoes, cucumbers, pickled beets and cabbage I chose as toppings were all fresh and added brightness to the meal. Pita Wrap- This is a hefty and filling wrap! We got ours with chicken shwarma and it was loaded with your choice of ingredients and sauce. The meat was out of this world in taste. Every bite is truly a delight! Za'atar Fries- I could snack on these all day. The fries were perfectly crispy and served hot and fresh. The seasoning is delicious and has a wonderful combination of savory, with an herby tang in the end. Great experience overall!

great quick service restaurant in the orange old towns plaza. there is both inside and outside seating which is nice. love that the food is seed oil free and the food didn't feel heavy at all. the BYO salad bowl was great but i would ask for less sauce next time because with the vinaigrette, it made my salad a bit too saucy. i even took some sauce out to mix to dip my fries in which was delicious. the spicy hummus, tzatziki, and toum were all delicious sauce. the BYO salad was a perfect portion and the baba's burger was perfectly cooked and i loved how crispy the fries were.

I got a chicken shawarma rice bowl with pita bread and drink. Over all the food was okay, nothing to really motivate me to order here again. The chicken was on the salty side. The rice has no flavor, I guess I'm used to yellow rice from Mediterranean places. The garbanzo beans were too hard. The Hummus and tzatziki were the good parts of the bowl. I'm going to be honest I don't leave reviews often unless I'm bothered and I'm bothered. The food is overpriced, ordered on doordash so Im aware of the prise increase. The bowl is $20+ I added a drink and pita for another $4.50. Don't let the perspective of the photo fool you, the drink was only around 12oz, it was basically a kids drink barely enough to enjoy. Come tf on you're charging way too much to do something like, it's ridiculous...

Came here upon recommendation from Wine & Wax down the street. You pick your protein to have in a wrap, bowl or salad. I had the chicken(thigh meat) gyro rice bowl, hubby had a chicken(breast meat) wrap. Very flavorful in a healthy portion. Also had some fries, on the thinner side with a nice crisp. Really enjoyed the meal.

BabaG is a build your bowl Mediterranean concept, similar to CAVA. Ordering is done at the front register, and after a short while they prepare your bowl and bring it out to your table. Unlike CAVA toppings are not unlimited, you are only limited to 4 here before they charge extra and you can't specify extra toppings like CAVA. BYO Salad Bowl ($18) - This came with a base of green lettuce, wish there was more variety in the greens like CAVA. I went with the chicken shawarma as my protein. Unfortunately it wasn't very tender and over cooked and dry in quite a few pieces. For my 4 toppings I went with cucumber, sumac onion, olives and crunchy garbanzo beans. Didn't care for the crunchy garbanzo beans, they were a little too hard. For my dips/sauces (limited to only 2) I went with hummus and baba ghanoush. Both were good. Overall the bowl was overpriced and costs 50% more than CAVA's bowl. CAVA offers unlimited toppings and more dips/sauces. I also thought the chicken shawarma could have been better. Service was friendly.

Conveniently located near the "Circle" in the City of Orange with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Ordered a build your own chicken pita wrap -- it was huge and really good! Also had a build your own 1/2 salad 1/2 rice and chicken breast with hummus and garlic sauce -- so yummy. Street parking is a challenge during peak times with such a popular area.

Definitely fell in love with the sweet eggplant side OMG. The beef and the sides were all tasty, the rice plate was able to be shared by 2 of us. Note: no pita unless you get as separate side or as a wrap. All in all, I would definitely go back and I'm NOT the biggest Mediterranean food fan.

New restaurant right off of orange circle. You order at the front and they bring the food out to you. They have 10 tables on a small patio in the back as well as indoor seating. They don't offer reservations, but we had no problem finding seating for 6 on a Thursday at 12:30 for lunch. I got a bowl with rice and lettuce as the base, with chicken breast, hummus, baba ganoush, and an assortment of pickles. All the ingredients seemed very fresh. Chicken was on the dry side but when combined with the rice and toppings, it wasn't very noticeable. The sweet baba ganoush was different, I've never had a sweet version before but it was a nice twist. Service was very friendly with someone checking in on our table throughout the meal.

Stumbled upon this restaurant in the circle and WOW the food was so fresh and flavorful. The phone clearly did not eat first for the photo. My husband ordered the burger and that had great flavor but the BYO bowl is definitely the way to go. The spicy humus was one of my favorite things. Huge portions, fast service, fair price, lots of indoor seating and patio seating. The place gives off a family friendly atmosphere. Will definitely be making this place a staple in our rotation. Added bonus: they are seed oil free!

I love this place... not only the food WHEN I eat it but AFTER I have it I love how I feel. You can TASTE the quality with the no seed oils, its incredible they care so much to spend MORE money for our health. Where do I start with Baba G?! OMG!!!! The food, the service and the ambiance was SO amazing!! Timmy the manager and Tim the owner (who's carrying on his family legacy with a twist to make it his own) are great, warm, welcoming and attentive as well as the rest of the staff. And the FOOOD, OMG! It is SO hard to find not only delicious, fresh food (because EVERYTHING is made in house) but something that's healthy and health conscious. They cook with seed free oil, they use avocado oil and it just so happens to be vegan friendly. They also source their hard seltzer and beer locally. This place is truly a GEM & A MUST TRY!!! You won't regret it! For reference I got the falafel wrap and the fries with cauliflower, let me tell you *chefs kiss* I'm telling everyone I know about them! I'll definitely be back. read more

Baba G catered lunch for my committee. The food was not only abundant but delicious. Everyone raved about how good everything was. We had chicken, rice cauliflower and salad. There was an assortment of hummus, tzatziki and the most amazing pita chips! The cauliflower was perfect and the chicken, both white meat and dark was tender and everything seasoned just right. Make your own bowl concept was great! Quick for a college student to buy when there on the go. Healthy and beautifully put together. All the flavors were on point. The cubes of chicken was made to perfection. I'm sure old family recipes had a lot to do with how good these bowls are made. Service was great and ambiance was good. I hate to write a bad review, and we really wanted to like this place, but this was not good. My husband got the loaded fries and they were fine at best. My pita wrap was so dry that it felt like biting into cardboard. The pita also was stale. The chicken again was fine at best and the toppings were minimal. We will not be returning and will be going elsewhere for our Mediterranean. read more

Disappointing. We ate here yesterday and a few weeks ago. We loved the previous Byblos restaurant. It was one of our favorites in the circle, so I wanted to give the new place a chance. First, I'm not a fan of counter ordering, especially with the prices. Wine comes in a plastic cup and if you want a second one you have to go up and get it yourself. The food is ok but not as good as before. Why would you change things when it was already so good? The hummus used to be better, and the beet salad is now basically lettuce and small pieces of beets. I also missed the appetizer plate they used to have. We will not return unless it becomes a full service restaurant again. read more

Sorry to say but this place was very disappointing compared to the previous restaurant. I walked expecting to be seated at a table, only to find out it is takeout. If you choose to eat there, the food is brought in a black plastic container with plastic utensils. The food I received was barely warm and just okay. On top of that the food was quite expensive for the quality. The environment was very sterile and plain; there was no character like there was before. Sorry BaBa G but this ain't it. read more

Came here a while back when it was still the original owner. Did not come back for a long time because the food was unfortunately just not that good. Like the passion left their kitchen. They changed owners and the vibe and the food is amazing. Best falafel. I'm picky and I absolutely love it. Fresh herby tzatziki too ! We love Baba G! There's not a better spot in downtown Orange for quality, healthy food that tastes this amazing. For many years our family went to Byblos, the former version of this restaurant--and they have managed to capture its quality food, great atmosphere and hometown charm and warmth with this new fast casual version. Great food, great service and great owners (Tim Mashi). Ps the fries will change your life. read more

I wanted to like this place since I frequented the previous restaurant, Byblos, all the time. Unfortunately Baba G's needs to figure it out because they have some Problems. I picked up food for my fiance and I and the portions were much smaller than Byblos. each plate was $17-$18 and they gave us 7 pieces of bite sized chicken in each entree. That's whatever (I guess) but just a warning to everyone, the portions are tiny. I called the restaurant to let them know I wasn't happy with the portion size. That's where things went downhill fast.I told them I was taken back with the size and a bit bummed. They didn't seem to care at all and just said, ok and.... It was all around an awful experience and like I said, this is coming from someone who went to Byblos probably 25 times. Would not recommend. read more

Super sad to say the remodel lost virtually all the original charm and menu of the family-owned restaurant. Food is still pretty good, but the entire menu is different and is now more of a build-your-bowl restaurant rather than a sit-down cozy vibe. I used to come here ALLLL the time with friends and family; it was a staple whenever I wanted to eat in Orange! But after one visit to check out the renovations.. I can't say I'll be back. Staff was nice enough, but it was clear the priority shifted to make the meals in to-go portions and keep the customers flowing rather than attentive service, curating an enjoyable meal, and providing an atmosphere. And with the bowls being $18 I'd definitely rather go to Chipotle or Cava. It's shifted from family-owned, personal, and cozy to what looks like another chain with insane prices. Heartbroken!! read more

Baba G's is absolutely delicious! We used to go to Byblos (previous restaurant) and Baba G's is still a part of the Byblos family just a different dining experience. We ordered the Greek salad and added chicken ( very tender and juicy), the baba wrap ( with filet- flavorful), and the loaded fries ( a generous and filling serving). This is healthy fresh food at a great price point. You can't go wrong. The staff were welcoming, friendly, and the service was prompt. We sat in the back patio which is shaded and has cute lighting. It's was a very pleasant atmosphere. We will be back! read more

We both got the Dutch crunch bread because we never pass it up at any deli that has it, and it was perfect! Soft on the inside, and perfectly light and crispy on the outside. (We actually talked about how it had just the right level of crunch- good texture, but not scraping up the roof of your mouth!) The chicken quality was awful -- dry, cold, and tasted old, like it had been reheated or sitting out for hours. For $18, that's unacceptable. The protein should be the highlight, not the worst part of the meal. It's also frustrating that you can't see the ingredients when building a bowl. The setup feels poorly thought out -- they should model it after other spots with ingredients displayed behind glass so customers can actually choose fresh items.
