This place is SOOO DELICIOUS!! And the menu boasts so many varieties and is great for those with any dietary restrictions (dairy free, gluten free, vegan, vegetarian, etc.). It is in the beautiful area of downtown Orange and has a nice inside as well as expansive patio. Service was prompt, friendly, and they were able to accommodate our large group of about 20 people. Everyone enjoyed their meals, drinks, and deserts. I had the curry, a hummus appetizer, and a white chocolate macadamia nut cookie; all were amazing. The service and the ambience was amazing! The hostess was also our waitress and she was constantly checking in on us to ensure that we were absolutely happy and enjoyed our meals. We love that. She was also exceptionally friendly. I must also say that the strawberry margarita and the cheese bread is probably one the best I've ever had! I had an amazing lunch here on a weekday afternoon. It was a nice day so we decided to sit on the front covered patio. It was a bit cool so they had their heaters on to keep us comfortable. There is also indoor seating with a charmingly cozy atmosphere in what is formerly a house. Barbara was our server and was informative, attentive, funny, and full of personality - she made our meal all the more enjoyable. The menu here is HUGE with lots of sandwiches, salads, bowls, soups, etc. I ordered the Ruta Club Sandwich and an iced tea. The sandwich was on sourdough bread and contained ham, turkey, cheddar cheese, and tomatoes. Packets of mustard and mayo were put on the side to add as I wanted. The ingredients were fresh, especially the vibrantly flavored tomato slices. A small pasta salad on the side as well as a pickle completed the plate. It was an excellent sandwich. Instead of dessert, I had a coffee drink; Cafe Milano. This Viennese coffee tasted of cocoa and cinnamon with whipped cream on top. Excellent!!! The service, atmosphere, and great food combined to make this a fantastic experience. Note: Parking in the area can sometimes be challenging. Meh. We ordered the garlic chicken salad, no carrots. Instead, she put no cucumbers. I asked since there were going to switch it out, if I can have green leaf instead of mixed... they basically picked out the carrots and left it as is, then stated they switched out the mixed greens for spring mix. They did not. The other item we ordered was the Thai bowl. Asked for dressing in the side, instead, they drenched it with the peanut sauce. Excellent experience on a Saturday late morning, around 11:30 am. We initially were going to the filling station cafe, but as usual is it insanely busy and food is just ok. If you walk down across the street and a few more steps, you'll find this relaxing, welcoming, and quieter restaurant. No wait, plenty of seats, very welcoming staff. I met a friend for lunch and he suggested Rutabegorz because it has a great selection of vegetarian options. The place is very conveniently located in downtown Orange and has a really nice inside and outside area to enjoy the food. The service was great with a friendly staff and also er efficient service. The food was good and very tasty. It is ver close to Chapman University and draws all kinds people. The price was very reasonable and I am looking forward to going again. Parking is a nightmare here. It is right off The Circle. There are a lot of college kids running around. If you plan to park a block or two away, watch for signs. First time at the Orange location! Having grown up in Tustin, I've been dined at that location for years. I happened to be walking around old towne Orange yesterday afternoon when my tummy gave a little rumble. In an effort to try to eat better this year, it was like it was meant to be: ah ha! A hearty salad from Rutzbegorz! Immediately upon sitting down, I was greeted and my beverage order was taken. I opted for something different - the quinoa Thai salad. They had a monthly black bean hummus and tortilla chips for $1, which I also decided to try. Even though the quinoa Thai salad was billed as a "smaller salad," it was definitely still filling. Note that with the "regular" sized salads, I usually have leftovers. This one made the perfect meal for someone who was very hungry. There was also a kale salad as a special that looked very appealing -- well, many of their salads sounded wonderful. But I was happy with my choice. I loved the peanut dressing. All throughout my meal, the service was attentive. There is indoor and outdoor seating; I love all the courtyard tabled outside! Here's a place I tried the veggie burger at. I ordered a double burger here because I thought it would be good to do that. I ordered it a while ago. I went in and then I thought they only put one patty in after I looked, so I went back because I i figured I paid for it so I want to get what I paid for accurately. And then they checked and they told me they were indeed two patties- he showed me. So it was my mistake for sure. I rated this one 9/10.
