We came to have a sweet little breakfast but they didn't have many breakfast options. No traditional breakfast. We ended up getting a burrito and coffees. The burrito was ok. And the coffee was actually horrible, I couldn't get past one sip. Neither could my partner. We ordered the special dip of the day, which was hummus, it was good, simple, wholesome. Nice location. We.were quickly greeted. We ordered the 1.00 dip/hummus of the month it was green chili dip cream.cheese base. Very good. I ordered the tropical tea and they kindly refilled often. I off the green Verde chilaquilles they were quite good with 2 fried eggs on top. Nicely portioned and great flavor. I did like that they serve breakfast all day. Also ordered mushroom roasted sandwich. So good with the melted toasted cheese bread. Dressing and lettuce complimented it. Very pleased with both orderes. That's a bonus. I met a friend for lunch and he suggested Rutabegorz because it has a great selection of vegetarian options. The place is very conveniently located in downtown Orange and has a really nice inside and outside area to enjoy the food. The service was great with a friendly staff and also er efficient service. The food was good and very tasty. It is ver close to Chapman University and draws all kinds people. The price was very reasonable and I am looking forward to going again. I haven't been to this location before but it has more room than the one in Fullerton. I had an amazing lunch here on a weekday afternoon. It was a nice day so we decided to sit on the front covered patio. It was a bit cool so they had their heaters on to keep us comfortable. There is also indoor seating with a charmingly cozy atmosphere in what is formerly a house. Barbara was our server and was informative, attentive, funny, and full of personality - she made our meal all the more enjoyable. The menu here is HUGE with lots of sandwiches, salads, bowls, soups, etc. I ordered the Ruta Club Sandwich and an iced tea. The sandwich was on sourdough bread and contained ham, turkey, cheddar cheese, and tomatoes. Packets of mustard and mayo were put on the side to add as I wanted. The ingredients were fresh, especially the vibrantly flavored tomato slices. A small pasta salad on the side as well as a pickle completed the plate. It was an excellent sandwich. Instead of dessert, I had a coffee drink; Cafe Milano. This Viennese coffee tasted of cocoa and cinnamon with whipped cream on top. Excellent!!! Excellent experience on a Saturday late morning, around 11:30 am. We initially were going to the filling station cafe, but as usual is it insanely busy and food is just ok. If you walk down across the street and a few more steps, you'll find this relaxing, welcoming, and quieter restaurant. No wait, plenty of seats, very welcoming staff. I had a bowl of cockie leeky soup and half a turkey sandwich. Everything was very good. For fans of such things, cockie leeky soup was one of the items on the April 14th 1912 First Class lunch menu aboard Titanic. Later that night Titanic hit an iceberg. Parking is a nightmare here. It is right off The Circle. There are a lot of college kids running around. If you plan to park a block or two away, watch for signs. I went in and then I thought they only put one patty in after I looked, so I went back because I i figured I paid for it so I want to get what I paid for accurately. I actually like this location better than the one in Fullerton (in terms of ambiance). The food is always so delicious. My friends and I shared chicken nachos. I had a sandwich. It was delicious, but a sandwich I can make at home. What I ordered isn't their fault and I'm not going to fault them for my choices. I decided to go lite because of the shared nachos. First time at the Orange location! Having grown up in Tustin, I've been dined at that location for years. I happened to be walking around old towne Orange yesterday afternoon when my tummy gave a little rumble. In an effort to try to eat better this year, it was like it was meant to be: ah ha! A hearty salad from Rutzbegorz! Immediately upon sitting down, I was greeted and my beverage order was taken. I opted for something different - the quinoa Thai salad. They had a monthly black bean hummus and tortilla chips for $1, which I also decided to try. Even though the quinoa Thai salad was billed as a "smaller salad," it was definitely still filling. Note that with the "regular" sized salads, I usually have leftovers. This one made the perfect meal for someone who was very hungry. There was also a kale salad as a special that looked very appealing -- well, many of their salads sounded wonderful. But I was happy with my choice. I loved the peanut dressing. All throughout my meal, the service was attentive. There is indoor and outdoor seating; I love all the courtyard tabled outside! It was savory, and all the flavors just went well together. I am not big on pasta dishes, but this was IT. I saved some for the following day, and boy, it tasted better than the first time I had it asking with the bread. The dish also comes with a piece of fruit(watermelon, melon, etc). 5/5 My partner had their chicken pesto pasta, and they liked it. I wonder if she's the bosses daughter because she's not much for customer service . I did not get a warm reception from her during my visit. She came up and took my order. It was very peaceful and had a unique setup. The waitress was friendly and made sure we were caught up on all the new featured dishes on the menu. I ordered a falafel plate- I've never had it before! It was delicious- I loved how fresh the vegetables were and the rice was cooked perfectly. My only complaint was the falafel balls were a little dry. This is our first visit. The place is located in a quaint and picturesque part of Orange, just north or the Circle. Rear parking is limited, but it looked like street parking was free and reasonable for an 11AM meeting with 4 more, party of 6. Seating was immediate and the group opted for patio on a perfectly summery November day. Note that Glassell is a fairly busy secondary route here, so there is a fair bit of road noise, though not so bad it's a conversation killer (mostly). You'll be looking at a fairly enormous menu: I can't recommend highly enough to browse Yelp's info or go to Rutabegorz' own online menu (no pictures, but adequate descriptions) before you plop down, unless you're looking to kill time. Wife opted for the day's special, Eggplant Parmesan. She liked it. Didn't rave, but liked it. I aimed for the Peasant Mushrooms, but whiffed on that, so I decided the weekly special Veggie Lasagna might be OK. Well, it was OK, but just that. My old maxim that you don't try Italian at a generalist restaurant still holds true. A bit bland, with a sauce that could've been Contadina or maybe Prego. Fortunately, they carry sriracha and that saved it for me. That's a decidedly mixed view of the food, I'll admit. But it's a different story on the service. This place has a *g-r-e-a-t* wait staff. Marco was on the spot with us, and the bus/assistant (sorry, didn't catch a name, dude, but you're fantastic!) was right on top of everything, even as the place started to fill with lunch hour diners. Not only efficient, but genuinely friendly and glad to be helping us. While no one goes to a place just for the service, this service added a whole star to this review! Keep that going, add a little more oomph to the tomato sauce, and this could be a go-to local place.
