Ba Bar has a unique take on Vietnamese food or what I would describe more as Asian fusion. The restaurant has a very open floor plan and was packed with people which made it feel fun and youthful. We put our name down for a large party, but the wait was surprisingly only 2-3 minutes. Even more surprising, our food probably came out within 5-10 minutes of ordering it. The papaya salad was light and refreshing, a nice complement to the curry dishes. I really enjoyed the sweet potato laksa which had a red curry base. My favorite dish was the Ba Bar green curry which the waiter said was vegan (hands-down best vegan curry I've ever had). The eggplant side dish had a unique taste, but I would not order it again (hard to compare to the insane flavor of a Chinese fried eggplant dish). The Saigon Singapore noodles were a classic dish but lacked flavor. You can't go wrong with the imperial rolls! Overall, I gave this place a 4 because the two curries and papaya salad were so good. I love this place! The vibe is warm and friendly. The people, staff and diners, are an eclectic urban blend. I come here every time I visit Seattle. I brought my husband this time. He liked being able to sit and enjoy his Old Fashioned after trying lots of different foods. No pressure to get moving...they encouraged us to chill and enjoy the experience. The menu has creative dishes. Everything is fresh and flavorful. They've got tons of craft cocktails. The service is outstanding...it's clear that service is a priority. Food...we tried things from the Happy Hour menu. Loved the shrimp crackers, chicken wings, beef salad, and some kind of spring rolls. There was nothing we didn't like. We also had some sort of lemongrass ginger iced tea and it was really good...we ordered it twice. The prices are reasonable. The menu has a lot of shareable. I also like having a lot of choices. Went here for dinner for my friend's birthday. Great service, we sat in the patio outside which was very pleasant (although a man came in asking for our food from the sidewalk twice, but that's not the fault of the restaurant). For the food: they have a new vegan menu which is exciting, but I will say the menu needs some more work. I had the tofu green salad. The description on the menu did not match what they severed me. Too many greens and not enough toppings, a few toppings completely missing even though advertised. The biggest fault of this salad were the uncooked, dried chickpeas. The chef did not realize that you have to rehydrate beans and cook them before serving them. I nearly broke my teeth on these. Avoid eating the chickpeas. My friend also got a tofu dish that was lacking tofu. For these prices I hoped that there would be more sustenance. Cocktails were decent. For two tofu dishes and two cocktails, $85. read more

we just got back from Vietnam and were looking for the same flavors. OMG the flavors were AMAZING! Best I've had in the states so far

My cousin, foodie blogger of wasabiprime recommended this place as our first meal arriving into Seattle. She told us the backstop of the Saigon Siblings and we were in. It was busy but we got seated at the bar right away which was way cooler than sitting at a table. Bartender was right mix of attentive, saucy, and expert mixologist and we enjoyed our respective drinks as we ordered and waited for our food. The pho, beef lemongrass rolls and spring rolls were onoliscious...Hawaiian local slang for mouth watering good! The next evening on our way back to our hotel, it was a very warm so we stopped in for soft serve pandan ice cream and ate it at the local park nearby. The following day before we left we also popped in to buy their pandas cream puffs. For those in Hawaii, they rival Liliha bakery but they don't make this flavor. If we lived in Seattle I would be here again but will have to wait till next visit. read more

Heads up that this is across from Seattle U and has an outdoor patio that's dog friendly and open Friday and Saturday. Came by for drinks and Pho and I gotta say that this is a great place for Happy Hour but have some patience as it seems like new people to being servers or young adults who are in college. Our drinks were incorrectly dropped off to a couple who was seated across from us and the server was corrected by them and had to check their notes for which table it was. If we had not seen the whole interaction, we wouldn't have accepted drinks that already passed the servers hands and was placed with other people. This is why at Starbucks and other food establishments once it leaves the employee window/hands they have to toss it and make a new one due to sanitation and hygiene standards. This is due to tampering and liability concerns for food establishments. With rising costs in a HCOL area and tariffs, we like everyone are being careful of where you go and spend disposable income. The customer service here fell short and the food was good while being close to the CID. It's difficult to find a good place that can provide both cocktails and pho. My family loves this place! Food is delicious, the staff are so friendly, the interior is very comfy and decorated nicely. Mi is always really nice. The Bun Bo Hue has a great broth that's full of umami. Then there's a great vegetarian option Com Chay if you're not a carnivore. It has eggplant and mushrooms that are super delicious! They first served me cold tamarind soup. I replaced it with the mushroom pho and it was the same disgusting broth. Their pho used to be clear and tasty. Now it is riddled with tomato seeds, way too much garlic, full of tamarind, and what tastes like anise. The quality of the food has gone down. I unfortunately will not be coming back to this place, but it doesn't matter because they seem busy. If you want good and authentic Pho go to the international district. This place deserves to have the title "the best pho in Seattle." If you've never had pho or Vietnamese food outside of a "fast food" setting, Ba Bar is a must try. I was introduced to this place early on when I first moved to Seattle, and many more times by the locals. I love the cute decor and the outdoor seating feels so special. Happy hour gets very packed and it tends to get very noisy. Also a popular place for big groups. When it's not loud, it plays very interesting Vietnamese music. I feel like I'm eating premium food with their pho and other dishes. My favorite are the fried rolls. The drinks sound nice but are a bit overpriced. There's nothing really special about them. I love the dessert and bakery options, but I can't say they taste great (acceptable but not great). The thing I don't like about this place is that you are pressured to order fast, but once you order you'll never see your waitress again. On average it takes 10-15 mins to find someone for the check. After I pay, I've never had a waitress just slam my card on the table, not ask me if I want a receipt, or say a thank you. This is my experience every time I come. But for 11.50, you should get more than 3 rolls. Almost $4 a piece for a spring roll is very high. We also had the Sai Gon Chicken Salad . Great flavor once you add the sauce. Lots of chicken, crunchy veggies. The Pho Tai Nam soup had really flavorful broth, but because we got it to go, by the time we got home it wasn't warm enough to even warm up the raw prime fillet or wilt the veggies. I can't get enough of this place and the variety of soups they have! My favorite here is the duck confit ramen noodle soup! The broth is just so tasty and rich in flavors! I ask for my duck leg to be extra crispy and I don't know how they manage to keep the inside moist and tender, but they do! Their Saigon Wings were also a great, but not quite as tasty as San Tung's from back home. Everyone there were pleasant, offered great suggestions and seemed to like the interactions with their diners. Banh Cuon Ha Noj (9/10) was delicious! Highly recommend, the format of building your own wrap and getting a bit of everything was fun! Rice noodles part was just a bit mushy and too soft. Xiu Mai (10/10) was amazing and flavorful. Baguette was perfectly toasted while still being soft on the inside. Just wish it came with more baguette for ratio to the meatballs. Duck Breast Pho (8/10) has a really strong smell from the bamboo shoots. If you haven't smelled it before or aren't sure if you like it, I would recommend you get something else. I like bamboo, but this was a lot even for me. It's definitely a more adventurous pho but the duck was super tender and delicious! Came with cabbage salad on the side, which was a bit too spicy for me personally, but was pretty yummy! Wings (10/10), amazing and perfect. We also want to support the owners because they regularly supports non profit organizations in the city. The location is excellent because there is free parking nearby after 4PM. Service is excellent. The servers were attentive and friendly. Ambience was also nice. Clean facility, lots of windows, and felt spacious. Seats were comfortable. We ordered chicken wings and fried egg rolls. The chicken wings were perfect. Yummy, crispy, salty and sweet. I also liked that the egg rolls were fried in rice paper. Last night was my very first time going here, and I only went because Pho Bac had closed for the night. I've never received such small portions in the history of buying pho for such a high price. I paid $27 for a small ass plate with the least amount of soup i have ever seen. Even the drinks are expensive I paid $14 for a Manhattan. The meat had fat attached to it which is something I hate when buying pho. Personally, I'm never going back here again. I'll just go to Renton next time. Others in my group got curry and dry noodles, and they were more reasonable for their prices imo. The Vietnamese coffee was strong and a little less sweet than I am used to from Vietnamese coffee.
