I used to go here fairly often for a coffee and snack. I decided to try it again this week and got two veggie burgers to go. The vibe and ambience hadn't changed and it still felt nice as i waited. We stopped in B18 for a quick late lunch while visiting my daughter in her new digs in Jersey City. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. We had the Korean Steak sandwich and it was excellent. It had really nice flavors and the and the side salad was also really good. The Cortado was very good also.They have a nice selection of baked goods and other options. It is a little pricey but isn't everything in the Metro NY area? Definitely will return. read more

My first time here .. absolutely LOVE IT .. the gentleman attending was an absolute joy , answered questions and helped me with a smile .. that is so important to me when I go places . Tried out this place a few months back based on a friend's recommendation and I must say, it was pretty good for a coffee shop. They had been ordering coffee and a few sandwiches from here pretty regularly so I had to try this place when I visited them. We had a takeout order from this place for a couple of coffees and some sandwiches. The coffee was fantastic. I had mocha latte. For breakfast, I gave ham and cheese croissant a shot and my friends had ordered avocado toast and a chicken wrap. The food was amazing, albeit, on the expensive side. Everything tasted great and fresh, was cooked properly and wasn't soggy or anything, which you typically expect from a coffee shop, unfortunately. It's about 130 steps from my apartment building to B18, so when I run out of iced coffee at home, this is the next best place to go. Extra large iced, no room. Remember "extra large" because that's their biggest one. Large looks more like a medium, and anything smaller is far too small. The only coffee place on "this side of the light rail," B18 has plenty of options for breakfast or lunch other than coffee. So it's actually much more than your average coffee shop with plenty of AM and midday food options. If you are in a hurry there's some easy grab-and-go food, and if you have more time, their menu is pretty robust. I've yet to explore anything more than coffee, but I'm thinking a treat-yo-self day work-from-home lunch next week is in order. They used to have a $10 minimum for credit cards, but that went away in March once COVID started. Speaking of... COVID stuff: Mostly business as usual, wear a mask when you go in to order. Outdoor seating is open, and well-spaced. Indoor seating is still closed, but I suspect that will open up shortly at a limited capacity. read more

B18 has been a part of my fiancé and I's weekend ritual for a few months now and we love it. It's across the street from our building so we just casually walk over for a quick breakfast or brunch. It's like a step above a coffee shop, so don't come here expecting a full breakfast spread. We tend to dine in, but you also can grab and go! My favorites are the French toast and pancakes. They have really good iced coffee as well. B18 has a nice atmosphere, great for eating with people, alone or just coming in to get some work done. My only random gripe is that on the lunch menu they don't have regular pizza- it's all white pizza lol. Other than that I totally recommend stopping in for some coffee or a quick bite! read more

I love everything about B18 I keep coming back! It's such a great café to have in this area of Jersey City. The vibe is super cute, they have a good amount of seating or you can order to go. The have a really extensive menu. Their matcha lattes are the best I've had in this area. I also love their Southern Potato Egg bowl. Everyone I take here loves the food too. They have great daily soups too like their Italian Wedding soup for only $6 with toast that I've gotten on the go. The service is super friendly. The only thing is paying if you're sitting down is a little awkward. Since you're not really being waited on I go up to the counter to pay. I can't wait to try more of their items! read more

It's a decent cafe that I would come to again if I needed something quick. I've lived in the building across from this place for 3 years now and I tried it for the first time a few weeks ago. I have my go-to spots close by so I never ventured out more, but with this place right across the street, I had to stop in and check it out. I ordered an iced matcha latte and an espresso for my husband. We then found out they had a $10 minimum for CC so we also ordered a glaze donut. The matcha latte was good, not the best, but good. The donut was a huge disappointment. By the time we ordered it, it was already very cold and it just didn't taste as great. We didn't have any issues with the owner or the staff. I really enjoy going to Beechwood for breakfast or lunch, but I am giving them 4 stars because they have a credit card minimum of $10. I work down the street from Beechwood and often go there for coffee on the way to work. I barely ever have cash on me so in order to get coffee with my credit card, I have to get a $10 gift card and with my card so I meet their minimum. I've done this twice but unfortunately the first time, the gift card I was supposed to receive must have been accidentally switched with a blank card because when I went back to use this gift card, it was blank. Their personal cheesecakes and chocolate chip cookies are absolutely delicious, I would highly recommend any of their desserts. read more

This is the got to place for a quick coffee or snack. Owned by the same owners of Beechwood Cafe in Jersey City, this cafe breathes a new life into the area. I'm so exited to share this gem with the Yelpers who may find themselves in need of a quick caffeine fix. The prices are reasonable. Their food selections are wide in variety from brownies, rice crispy treats, scones, muffins, danish, to cookies and sticky buns. Being new and in a new building, it is very clean and has a wide open feel. Plenty of natural light that enhances the mood of a small or large cup of their fresh brew. Come check it out. In this day and age where customer service very much dictates the success of a business, I'm surprised at the level of mediocrity I've encountered at this place. I vividly remember how the server would keep reminding us about not taking any seat in the dining area because we hadn't ordered "food" and were just taking out coffee. Also, on numerous occasions, I've been served a mocha that tasted more like a "latte". Now I'm not an expert on coffees but I'm sure it can't be that difficult to get those nuances right. None the less, my experiences have been much better over the course of 2017 and we've started coming here more often. Amongst the positives, the place does have a cool location right by the river and can be a good spot to chill during the summers. They have a decent selection of cup cakes although they'd be better off serving them warm rather than cold. In terms of the food, I've tried out the "Kimchi Fried Rice" and "Veggie California Burger" and both of them have been really good with respect to taste and quantity. The place does have seating upstairs and wifi as well if you're looking to get some work done. They also do have a significant brunch menu although I've never tried that yet. Also, If you're short of cash you can always buy a "Beechwood Gift Card" that lets you pay by a credit card (something which is much appreciated). I associate B18 with weekends.... weekends that I treasure and love and would only spend in places that I love too. Glencel and the rest of the staff there are super awesome and friendly, and will make sure that your weekend starts off on the right foot. The coffees will always hit the spot, and depending on how hungry you are, you have a pretty good range of food choices too. The menu is actually going to expand further as well! Personal favorites - for a lighter day, I go with the Smoked Salmon Sandwich... yes it has cream cheese on it so its not CRAZY light... but not as oily or heavy as a burger that you would get for brunch at another spot. For normal days, I'll go with the Mc and B or the EBC... B18s take on bacon|sausage egg and cheese sandwiches. They're legit. The eggs are buttery and layered so you get a nice texture as you bite through. The bakery items are just as good... croissants and cookies are always an option too. B18 is one of my favorite breakfast spots. Conveniently located near Path and HBRL, it offers delectable selections of pastries and savories (yes, savories is a word. You don't need to say savory food; just say savories). Their burritos are a very good option for breakfast; reasonably sized, yet filling. You can customize your own too. They come toasted and well packaged shut in their tortilla wrap, so that you do not make a mess and fool of yourself while skimming through your TPS report for that 9.30 am meeting Susan scheduled. Winners, in my opinion, are the avocado toast (every basic bitch's favorite), Santa Fe burrito, Southern potato and eggs, and smoked salmon tart. If you are veering toward the sweet side, then definitely the banana pecan waffle. Quick caveat: the prices are steep....and my thought is that it may be because their ingredients are quality, and their location is premium. To me, it is a treat and regard it as such. So, in the rare moments of indulgence, B18 is on my radar. read more

The owner/front-end manager everyone keeps writing about is RUDE. In the handful of times I've been there, I've heard her consistently snap at customers and staff. She does not have people skills. There seems to be a ton of rules at this place: where you can't sit, where you will have service, when you can order, where you can stand. Even the door has numerous notes that tell their expectations. Simply put: it has a bad vibe and isn't desirable. The coffee is not strong and doesn't even taste good. The $10 minimum for c.c. is annoying and ridiculous nowadays. The food I've had (croissant, muffin, egg sandwich) is good, but the attitude of the personnel and the c.c. minimum keep me from going there even though it's so close by.
