I also noticed there's a Manhattan location, as well as several NJ locations (Ft Lee, Pal Park, Englewood, etc.), which is usually a good sign. I ordered a Soy Garlic combo (6 wings, 2 drums) + pickled radish for pick up--and yes, the aroma driving home got us salivating so much that we didn't bother reheating and just dug in. An obvious rookie mistake, but it still hit the spot. The drums were HUGE. For anyone new to Don, I highly recommend skipping wings and going straight for drumsticks (more bang for the buck). Then we ordered the 10 wing + 5 drumstick combo and we asked for half/half sauce assuming half of the 15 pieces are one sauce and the second half is another sauce. First off, they charge you $2 for sauce, which is fine but tell me why they charged us $2 FOUR times. So $8 total for sauce bc they separated the 10 wings into 5 and 5 and put one sauce each and they charged $2 each for that. And then they separated the 5 drumsticks into 3 and 2 and put one sauce each and charged $2 each for that. So total for 10 wings & 5 drumsticks was around $44. I've literally been to every korean fried chicken place on northern blvd and never have they separated the chicken like that and charged the sauces that way. Like why are you charging us for sauce 4 times when it is one single order of chicken. Never coming back here. Its a legit rip off. The driver never contacted me to let me know that he was at my address, instead he left it in the salon. How can you make a food delivery to the wrong address and think that's okay. The hair salon has chemicals flying around and a lot of people in the shop. This is totally unacceptable. I don't know who went in the bag. It's like that 80's movie "Honey, I shrunk the kids!" In this case, the wings! As a longtime Bonchon fan. I also question whether my fix justifies the cost as generous portion sizes are no longer the norm, but the prices have gone completely off the rails. Bonchon also decided to phase out and limit its chicken promotions. Bonchon's culinary strengths remain intact though. The double fried chicken retains its iconic crunch, and the soy garlic sauce continues to strike a perfect balance of savory and sweet. I'm afraid Bonchon's pivot toward premium pricing and away from generous promotions reflects a challenging balancing act and risks alienating it's fan base. Come on Bonchon! Do the right thing. Staff brought everything to the table even though it was only self serve. 1) Angry Nonna Sandwich: The mildly spicy sauce was delicious and savory. Chicken parm was seasoned well and not salty. Bread could've been a little more crunchy imo. Portion size was plentiful and definitely enough for a full meal. 2) Regular Hand Cut Fries: So many widely-cut fries and more fries than I'd imagined for a single order. Worth it! Size wise was like those halal rice platter in aluminum foil container. I got full midway but still finished the whole thing. Fries were definitely freshly prepared and made.
