At one location I frequented, the coffee had really disappointed me. Once upon a time, their coffee was delicious, with rich, chocolatey notes, but the last few visits left me with bitter, almost burnt-tasting drinks, and no amount of milk could fix it. This was surprising, since they supposedly use LavAzza beans. I also never loved their cakes; I often found them too heavy on icing and light on actual cake. However, on a recent trip while shopping at 99 Ranch Market (which is conveniently right next door), we decided to give Paris Baguette another try and treat ourselves to pastries. I was immediately impressed by their selection and how frequently the display was refilled. Every item was behind a glass case, which felt very clean and hygienic. The cashiers were great at making the hot beverages, and they asked if we had a rewards program with them. We gave them our phone numbers, and it turned out none of us had signed up or that they expired. Here's what we purchased: - Cafe Mocha - 5/5 stars. Perfect balance of espresso and chocolate. The barista even made a heart on top. Although the lid covered it, the gesture was appreciated. - Cold Brew - 5/5 stars. Smooth and refreshing. - Chausson aux Pommes - 4/5 stars. A French apple turnover with a perfectly crisp crust and tender, flavorful apples that weren't mushy. - Croissant Donut - 5/5 stars. Flaky, buttery croissant-like in shape of a donut, filled with custard that was bright due to the citrus, and well-balanced between sweet and savory. - Blueberry & Cream Brioche - 5/5 stars. Their crust was crispy and light. It was an indulgent treat that was well balanced as the custard was rich, soft, and just sweet enough without being heavy. Patrons can help themselves to cream, milk, utensils, and napkins, which is convenient. The seating is roomy and relaxing, perfect for lingering over coffee and pastries. It's located in the Home Depot strip mall. Parking is usually easy on weekdays, but weekends can get a little hectic. Overall, this visit completely changed my opinion of Paris Baguette. The coffee and pastries were impeccable, and the environment made for a pleasant, stress-free experience. Definitely worth a stop if you're nearby.

This location is bright and clean with very friendly service. I've visited this location throughout the years, and it's just one of those places that I know I'll get something delightful, be it food or drink. Today, I quenched my thirst with a sweet peach iced tea. Yup - delightful.

I realize that Hackensack is way out in the sticks and all, but no one has reviewed the B & W Bakery yet? I did not know this (I'm not from Jersey,) but apparently, Hackensack is the U.S. capital of crumb cake. One day at work, a crumb cake was brought in from the place voted "best crumb cake in the country," along with B&W's crumb cake. In a blind taste test, our panel of 10 unanimously decided that B&W's crumb cake soundly trounced the one declared "best in the U.S." I can't even remember the name of that bakery. It was a fine crumb cake; I'm not complaining, but when compared to the divine, flaky, buttery cinder block with the density of spent uranium from B&W, it just didn't compare. B&W claims to have the heaviest crumb cake around, and it surely is. We all picked up the box and marveled at just how incredibly heavy the cake was. If you need to hold a flapping tarp down in a hurricane, or perhaps need to anchor your boat, these will do nicely, but it's better to eat them. I am not sure how many pounds of butter and sugar go into each crumb cake, and I'd rather not know. I just refer to their crumb cakes as "The Divine Cinder Blocks." read more

our family gets our baked goods every year for the holidays from this place, and can I just say, it is simply amazing. We did have to wait in line a couple times because the whole store was packed with people swarming to get their pies for thanksgiving and Christmas, but it was well worth it. The family enjoyed the pecan pies especially....and with a little hint of their famous crumb cake combined with some coffee, thanksgiving morning was that much better. We made sure to stock up the day before Christmas also because relatives from out of town were coming in and we wanted to make sure they had a taste of the heaviest crumb cake around. It all begins and ends with the crumbcake here. Personally, I think of it as a huge entenmanns crumbcake doughnut. I've had some of the cookies or other cakes that people bring to parties or get togethers and they are all very tasty, but even the conversation surrounding those treats ends up with "they were all out of crumbcake so i got..." Grabbed a few pastries called Lobster Tails which is a crisp, shell-shaped Italian-American pastry with hundreds of paper-thin, flaky layers, resembling a lobster's tail. This version was filled with whipped cream ( as others are with French or custard cremes. ) Always a safe bet when you need good bake shop goods. Only thing off to me was on a recent Saturday afternoon there were only 2 clerks working and between the phone call orders and the 2 people in front of me it took almost 30 minutes to get a few items. Still worth the visit and I wasn't leaving without !
