It's for a very old lock and I'd had alternative places (like Ace Hardware) make a few copies of it that just wouldn't work. One visit to 5th Ave Key Shop (and 5 minutes later), I was walking away with a brand new key that cost me $3 (which was cheaper than Ace Hardware) -- and most importantly, worked. Had it not, the locksmith had already offered an alternative solution to come out to assess the door/fix the cylinders in the lock. I'm so pleased with the quality of service here and will definitely turn to this shop for all key-related things in the future. This was an important reminder to support local businesses!

Both were hardware stores that offered key copying services. Both hardware stores (Tarzian and Lehman Locksmiths) in Park Slope failed to copy the keys correctly--the key didn't work on either door with the keys made from Lehman.
