I had difficulty with my Medeco lock sticking with my key and not allowing me to engage the lock. I called George from All Star. He came, took a look and was able to unjamb the lock without having to take the lock apart. He told me what I needed to do and to stay with this lock as long as it was serviceable. Great service. read more

I had a 5 star experience here today. I went in to get a few key fobs made and the nice couple that ran the place did a great job. After I spent $60. The gentleman that runs the place (I'm so sorry I forgot his name) offered me some espresso which I enjoyed thoroughly. I will go there from now on for all of my keys. read more

Hired to replace 2 entry door bolt locks. He had his son install them.... Charged $450!! Three days later we noticed the bolt lock was bent and wasn't sturdy as it was jiggly - I called Joe and his response was that I can pay for him to come out and replacement. I did not use him again and will not. Cheap material and price gouging. Beware!!!!! read more

** Updated - see original review, owner's false claims, and my response below. Based on response, I am I called all star to have a cylinder installed in a lock in my condo. They quoted $45 for the service call + whatever parts. They weren't able to give an estimate, until they saw the lock. I assumed it would be whatever retail cost ($20 or so for a cylinder) + some very high amount of mark up. Figured $150-$200 in total. When they got there they quoted $450 for the work in total. To be fair, they did quote this and I had already gone through the inconvenience of scheduling and coordinating, so I just wanted the work done. That would be unremarkable, 3-stars and not even worth a review. However, before starting the work, they asked if I could pay Zelle, and I told them no, that I would do bill pay from the bank. Locksmith seemed fine with that and did the work. Afterward, he again asked if I could do Zelle, and if not if I would be able to give my credit card info, and was quite pushy about it. I had to remind him that he asked before, and he didn't need to do the work if he needed Zelle. Every other tradesmen I have worked with had done net 30 payment, and that would seem standard- especially at this very expensive price point. (Over $800/hour!) Work was fine quality, just poor communication all around, and did not meet my expectations for service at this high price. 2 stars. --- Response: Hello, Thank you for your feedback. We'd like to respond to your review in order that you wrote it: 1) PRICE. While you were thorough in your description of the job you've missed an important detail, which is matching new cylinder to the key cuts of your preference. This service is called rekeying service and it costs additional. Also you were pretty close with price assumption we charged you 269.00 for the cylinder ( including labor / installation ) and 155.00 to reconfigure your cylinder to your key, and we also waived the svc fee of 45.00 for you, in actuality it came out less then 450 if you do the math... 2) ZELLE. Our technician had communicated with you that in order for us to give net 30 days for payment we must have a ongoing relationship with the company that we do business with, what you have failed to mention was that we had spoke for first time and you did not have an account with us to request 30 days payment. In general when we give the option is 5-10 days. Zelle payment option was simply suggested and was NOT pushed in any shape or form. We have also offered you to make a payment via credit card upon completion of the job however you hung up on our representative after which we granted you "check payment" option. 3) JOB QUALITY we appreciate your honesty about the quality of the job. --- 1) The charges that they listed were not was on the invoice or described - though the total was what was quoted on the job, after they showed up. I was invoiced $45 for the service fee, $269 for the cylinder and $100 for the rekey. Like I said before, this was much more than "$45 service call + parts needed for the job". I did not complain that more was charged after the quote, instead that the vague price quote was misleading and encourage others to be more thorough in their due diligence if they should decide to use this company. I was also extremely clear to them about needing the rekey - and provided the key cut to them prior to them coming to install the lock so that they could come prepared with the lock keyed. 2) This is not true - technician never explained that they do net 30- I never even requested net 30 days. I just said that this was pretty standard practice in the industry. When the technician showed up, and provided the quote, I did inform him that I would like to pay by check, and he was fine with this when he did the work. Then after the work was completed, he insisted that I pay by Zelle or credit card, and they do not accept check payments. I had stepped out of a meeting, to take the call, and had to return - I told the technician this, and I told him I would call him back later, which I did. I did not "hang up" on the representative. When I called back, I told him that I would be paying via check, like we had discussed prior to the work - which the technician accepted, with some grumbling. So in a way I suppose that was "granted," but under protest. I will also note that after I left the review, Joey called and left a voicemail saying that he wished to "resolve the issue for you so we can both be fair with each other and come to an agreement." When I called back, he asked if I had sent the check already, when I informed him that I had, he offered to "extend a discount on future work". To be clear, I was not looking for any sort of accommodation when I wrote this review, nor would I have accepted any adjustment in price in exchange for removing the review. I felt it was important to share my experience with others who were considering doing business with All Star Lock Smith. read more

Called the store, spoke to Joey and he sent over George, one of his installers. Locks were installed professionally and efficiently. I will definitely recommend them to all family and friends. read more

They made 10 copies of my specialty keys -- Mul-T-Lock MT5 -- in no time flat. Great service, very nice people.

Joey sent Andrew over in no time and the Mul-t-Lock was fixed in 30 minutes. Great to have them in the neighborhood.

They are so great, we have used them twice, once for a middle of the night emergency lock replacement and once for a different lock repair. Available 24/7, trustworthy, (did not try to upsell) and went the extra mile to be sure we were safe and comfortable. I love to support a local expert who will stand by his work! read more

George was awesome. He was expedient and extremely knowledgeable of our complex door buzzer problem. He took great care to make sure we understood what was needed to get the job done right. read more

I needed a high-security key made that other locksmiths could not figure out. Joey at Allstar Locksmith and Hardware was able to get it done for me. I couldn't be happier. His prices are reasonable and he and his wife are really lovely people. Their store also has a pretty great selection of indoor houseplants. Definitely go here for any locksmith needs. read more

Joe has saved me more than once with lock changes and today, Victoria was wonderful managing to duplicate keys that are from copies, not the original key. Hard to do and second time was the charm. They both work! This business is the best. I highly recommend them for skill, professionalism and more. So sorry they moved from Flatbush but worth the walk. But why is this posting that I am from San Francisco?? I am in Brooklyn. read more

Do you think if you addressed my concern in a way that implied you were willing to resolve my issues I would've gone to someone else? Your behavior was that of an unprofessional animal. I will continue to respond eveytime you attempt to discredit my experience with your business. Why? So that any potential customers can see what they can expect from you as a business owner. You were rude, tried to bully me, had your locksmith send me rude texts messages (which I have saved and can post if you continue), you cursed at me in direct messages and you think I would interact with you in a business transaction ever. No sir, I'm sure the New York City offers managerial training courses, as you are in dire need of instruction. They can assist/train you on how you should conduct yourself as a business owner and alleged professional. read more

Locked myself out of my apartment and called Allstar. Wow. What an all-star company. The locksmith came with in 10 mins. I obviously live very close but I was impressed with how responsive they were. Cost was pricey for fixing the door in 10 seconds, but the ease of dealing with this company is worth it. Highly recco read more

Great work - professional - pleasant interaction. Replacement work on the door knob for the main entrance door to our building. Also replaced a very old dead bolt lock on my apartment door. The lock needed to be cut off the door. The replacement lock looks great and is, of course, compliant with current building codes (unlike the the old lock). read more

All Star just saved my butt. Needed extra keys fairly last minute, a bit of an unusual building key. Tried 4 different nearby shops and none of them had it, but All Star did. Super friendly quick service, woman working in the shop gave me some tips in case the key gave any trouble, but of course it worked perfectly. read more

Amazing work! I called in the morning, and they came by to install a deadbolt on a metal door that previously had no holes or anything for a security lock. Joey was incredibly polite and the job super solid. Would definitely recommend them in the future! read more

Joey and family are the real deal. Got frustrated dealing with less than competent or honest locksmiths in the neighborhood. I noticed Allstar on my block association's recommended list. I had a wonderful experience with Joey from All Star Locksmith. I called with a non-emergency issue thinking I wouldn't be able to get an appointment for a few days. But instead he came over within the hour. He fixed both of my issues quickly and with care. He was very personable and easy to communicate with. I will definitely be using All Star again. read more

The locksmith at Allstar Locksmith is an expert locksmith. I stupidly lost the card with the code on it to my house to copy our house key and would've had to pay a ton of money to replace the whole padlock. But he was able to replicate the one key we had and saved me the headache and money I would've had to spend to replace the whole thing. They are super friendly, fast, and they definitely know what they're doing. Highly highly recommend! read more

I had broken front door lock at my tenants business entrance than needed emergency replacement back in March. All star arrived with hours and replaced it at a fair price. High level of professional communication via text . The lock started getting loose and having potential issues this month and they took care of it right away, no hassles. I've had terrible experiences before with locksmiths and gauging but all star has been a great experience. Would recommend highly! read more

I have been using All Star Locksmith for years -- and every time they come through. MUCH, MUCH, MUCH, BETTER than every other locksmith I've used. No waiting around for hours. No poor workmanship. I love Allstar Locksmith and Hardware for many reasons. The owners, a wife and husband team keep a well-stocked store with beautiful plants gracing the front of their store and when you enter and ask for something they are patient, receptive and helpful! I visited Allstar again this week to have another set of keys made, including a new Mul-T-Lock security key. (Our landlords lost the combination donkey's years ago, which makes it almost impossible to duplicate the Mul-T-Lock keys.) Joe wasn't in the store, but his wife, Victoria, was there and recommended I call him. So I did, and Joe asked me to text a couple of closeup photos of the Mul-T-Lock key. Joe's so incredible at making the Mul-T-Lock keys by sight, he was able to tell the combination from my photos. He texted Victoria the code, who was able to make the key for me on the spot. Took it home, and after oiling the key, it worked perfectly! There's literally no reason to visit another locksmith or hardware store in the Prospect Heights area. Superb customer service and now they've saved my ass twice. Thanks Joe and Victoria! read more

All Star was there when it counted. David was a total professional. He came out at around 7 PM to find us locked out when our lock completely failed. He called us on the way, so that when he arrived he had everything he needed to completely repair our door. David gave us confidence. While it was a large and costly job, it was done quickly and I believe the outcome was as good as it could have possibly been. I just moved to the neighborhood, and I turned to Yelp. All Star came right to the top and I was happy that I could work with someone in my new neighborhood. For any lock requirements, I'll go back to All Star. read more

I have used All Star Locksmith probably since they moved into the neighborhood. I own a small rental building and live in a condo. I have used Joe for both with great success. They have installed new locks, repaired existing ones, and provided great hardware supplies at their store. It is remarkable what they carry in their space at the store. Joe and his son are professional and do great work. They never sell me what I don't need and always suggest the most economical solution. Joe is always available to give advice, seeking nothing in return. I will continue to use All Star Locksmith for all my lock and most of hardware needs. read more

I shopped here for quite a while, probably came in once a month for a year. It's an okay store. They mostly don't stock modern supplies or high-end stuff. You'll find dusty, generic drill bits, old T12 bulbs, and most recently, a plumbing torch that doesn't self-ignite. When I realized the torch didn't self-ignite, about a week after I bought it, I tried to take it back. They wouldn't take it. Not for cash, not for exchange. I tried to give it to them for free because I didn't want to waste it by throwing it out, and they said "give it to your friends". The reason they gave for refusing to do anything was "it's too old". If it was too old to take back, it was too old to sell. That's totally unacceptable (not to mention self-defeating) business practice, and has been for a long time. You might still need to go here if you're looking for something that's out of production, but otherwise, I would steer clear. read more

happy with my new lock. my locksmith worked me through my issues and we came together and figured out my smart lock

These guys are GREAT!!!! I needed a lock installed on my mom's door and they promptly arrived and made a recommendation for a lock that made us all feel safe. Fast forward to a month later, the lock was loose and they promptly showed up again, fixed it with no hassle and did not charge us a dime. It's wonderful to find business owners who stand behind their work and can be trusted. I highly recommend them and will definitely use them again!!! read more

We contacted this locksmith in Sept 2019 to provide lockout service. The locksmith arrived and started drilling immediately with no attempt at entry. Like another Yelp review states, he replaced our lock and charged us $400. Months later we discover--purely by accident--that the door doesn't lock because the bolt of the new lock barely reaches the strike plate in the frame. This entire time, the door has only been held shut by the friction between the door and the frame. We called the locksmith, thinking that they would jump at the opportunity to provide some support for a $400 installation of a $20 lock. Turns out that's not the case! Since our service fell outside the 90 day warranty, they offered to sell us another service call to fix the first job they botched. No thanks. read more
