My review is based on my experience. I was looking for a specific type and size of nursing pot. I found it one ACE website and it is in a stock at this location. I drove there in the morning and arrived at this store on the time that they supposed to open but they were late. Then I asked about the stuff I want, and they show me. I grabbed it and paid then left the store. The price for the pot is a bit higher than regular pot but I just need small amount for my project so I'm ok. read more

I was just in here to purchase some soap. (3PM - Nov 13) Stood in line, and the person in front of me was returning a fly zapper. The customer placed their card by the reader, to receive the refund (as is usual for most places) but the guy behind the counter smacked his hand away and told him that he said not to put his card there. I could tell it took the customer aback. As soon as the customer left, the man behind the counter called him a "stupid animal." I confronted him, asking him why he feels it's alright to put his hands on someone, and his justification is that he told the customer to not put his card by the reader. He then said that he should've punched him instead. I asked him again, why he thought it was okay to put his hands on someone, and he repeated the same thing, but this time included that he should punch ME in the head. Absolutely ridiculous behavior. I won't be returning here, and I suggest you don't either. Man behind the counter was an old short guy with a beat up newsboy cap, chains and a big silver cross around his neck. Stay away from him if you aren't white. read more

They charge a 15% restocking fee on all returns even if it is the same day and the product was unused and in its original package. I bought $120 worth of metric tool I thought I needed,based on the instruction book, to put together a birthday bike for my granddaughter. Turns out I didn't need the tools, there was a one page instruction sheet in the book. I showed the manager the book and one page addendum and he still charged me the 15%. This place is last-resort, when you're in desperation and have no other options. They will price gouge and mark up prices to unsuspecting customers, even if it's just by a mere quarter or two. It's so petty and unethical that it's left a bad taste in my mouth. I would avoid and take business to a more reputable and customer-oriented business if possible. read more

Went in today to pick up a gallon of paint. Had a picture of the formula so they could easily mix it. Specifically asked for Pratt and Lambert. This customer service agent tried to sell me Benjamin Moore on the down low. She pulled up a different formula and attempted to get me to agree it was the same shade. It wasn't and it wasn't the same formula. When I brought it to her attention she said "I wasn't trying to scam you." I hadn't accused her of scamming me but She knows what her intent was. I told her if a customer asks for a specific brand and color that's what they are looking to buy. I didn't ask for a substitute and should not have to ask what brand she was trying to push 4 times. As I'm leaving she says "Good for you" and starts clapping. I turn back to look at her and she stops. The one star is for the pizzeria across the street- delicious pizza and friendly service. Doesn't even deserve 1 star. The clerk wouldn't allow me to use a debit card, which is legal currency, to pay for a painting pallet knife because I didn't reach the store-imposed "card minimum" which is also illegal and he could clearly see I had no cash in my wallet. Very dissatisfied and will not be returning. This is why people have switched to Amazon. read more

They should close down this store. TERRIBLE SERVICE!! Made 4 keys on Sunday 8/23 $2.00 each plus tax 3 out of 4 works ok. One is not working at all. Bought it back next day 8/24 so they remake the key and it still doesn't work. Went back again 8/25 asked for money back, they took out 15% for restocking fee. WTF you supposed to be a professional key maker. Instead I have to go back 3 x and you have a fucking nerve to deducted 15%? I understand if I opened a box or something but keys? come on. You can keep the money for I care but that's one lousy way to loose business. You should pay me for my labor going back and forth to get my keys fixed. read more

I love to support local business and mom and pop stores, but this place is awful. I especially love the local Hardware stores because that's USUALLY where you go when you want genuine knowledge and know how, but NOT this place. While they have a decent selection here, the customer service is AWFUL. The owner is the absolute worst. When you ask him a question, it's like you're bothering him or putting him out. He obviously has lost his lust for his business and could care less. I have never had such despicable customer service in a local hardware store. I am not even speaking of friendliness, I am talking basic customer service. Such a shame. Home Depot here I come, it's worth the time and travel. read more

I hate Karen's and NEVER leave reviews. Partly because I want to support businesses during a hard time. I have spent hundreds of dollars at this ACE hardware for the past 2 months buying miscellaneous tools and parts to fix bikes. Every time spent in the store has been annoying. One person helping five people try and get into locked cases, while two or three people sit behind the desk on their phones. Unresponsive employees. General clutter in front of locked display cases. Upset when you do ask for help. Not a single person working there wearing a mask. Etc. Y'know, hey whatever, it's the way it is. I don't really care. I live here, and the world keeps turning. Yesterday I went in and asked to be shown where the 3/8 inch drive - 6 point socket sets were. They opened the case, and handed me the set that they thought I was looking for. (I've had to come in before and exchanged things that weren't labeled correctly) I looked at the packaging, which did say "3/8 socket set" but didn't specify the 6 point female side. I specifically asked if this was 6 point and not 12 point. They said, "yes." 35 bucks later. I get home, open the theft proof store-repackaging, (which required me to break the plastic,) and to my lack-of-surprise... it's 12 point. I return to the store today, wait in line while no ones at the counter, and attempt to exchange my sockets for the correct ones. They explain to me because I destroyed the packaging (it quite literally had to be to destroyed remove/see the product) that it couldn't be exchanged. Not only did they tell me that, but the cashier started to make a scene when I asked him several calm questions. Needless to say, and I really hate to admit it, but dumb corporate AutoZone had everything I needed at 75% less than ACE's price. I want to support my neighbors and neighborhood businesses, but cmon guys. Make people want to help you. read more

This is actually an Ace Hardware. It gets two stars because it is the only hardware store so close by. I haven't had such bad experiences with the creepy guy, but I totally knew who the other reviewers were referring to. I did get creep vibe from him whenever I come in, so I have always avoided him. I know that having things behind glass and the counter is par for the course in an old school Brooklyn store, but it does put me off since I never feel comfortable asking for anything. The store is packed with stuff, which means they probably have at least something you need, but it is extremely hard to navigate. I have gotten a bunch of keys made, but I have been trying to get my mail key copied for months. Every time I come, I am told they don't have that key template and will have it in next week. I've gone in many "next weeks" and they always tell me the same thing. It's really annoying. The prices are jacked up, but sometimes I am in a jam and can't go all the way to Home Depot in BedStuy. read more

This isn't your average hardware store. Yes it has all of your basic needs. It is a DBA (do business as) Ace Hardware so you all the accouterments that comes along with it. Getting keys made and light bulbs always seems to be the high point for the customers ive seen. If your into the custom keys wether its one with a star wars character, sports team, sugar skull or just green, then this is the spot for you. The highlight really for me is the amazing selection of art supplies and paint. With a huge selection of spray paint both name brand and customs. This isnt a huge stretch for a hardware store but the long isle full of acrylic paints and paint brushes, palets and supplies makes it an awesome spot for those of us who cant find a close or cheap art store in the hood. I've never been super impressed with this place, but it's the biggest hardware store in the area, so I've been here about a dozen times. Yesterday I bought the wrong kind of caulk. I came to exchange it for a new type, the price differential was very small, but in the interest of preserving a customer, I figured they'd let me charge the price difference to my card. Think again. I was forced to buy something additional. They were as unapologetic as possible. They lost a customer today. Had they done the right thing, they'd have kept a customer. read more

Pretty much my go to place for all things hardware. Every time I've come in, they've always had what I needed. Some things can be a little a little overpriced like locks or lock cylinders so it's probably best to hit a Home Depot for that kind of stuff. read more

Just do yourself a favor & DO NOT support this business. The fellow on the floor is lazy/un-knowledgable & his partner at the register does not care for the best interest of his customers- if you are confused/unsure of a product he just scans it & tries to process payment instead of making eye contact/addressing a customer issue. Awful customer service - was given wrong paint, I attempted to point out their mistake but they did not care.

I brought two lock cylinders. They were some cheap, after market brand. The old guy in the register said it would work. Guess what, it didn't. They have a 7 day return policy. I attempted to return an item because it was defective. The store would not accept it because it was used. He should have issued a refund. I would not go back. It's better to go to Home Depot or Lowe's. I would avoid this store at all cost. read more
