I'm so happy I found AZ Pool Motors! Our pump died after the last monsoon. We brought out an electrician first, then another pool company that wanted $1,750 for a variable speed motor due to a recent law requiring them (while also explaining that motors get flooded regularly). I wasn't mentally prepared for the expense, so after a quick Google I found John and his rebuilt motors for $345. I can buy five of these for less than one of the new ones! I may considered getting a new one eventually, but the rebuilt motor is working fine and our pool looks good again after just one day. John was a little late, but he got the job done quickly and gave us tips on things to pay attention to on our pump. We appreciate it! read more

Had the pool motor replaced, worked great for one year and then died. Called to have it checked and was told it would be a full charge to replace the motor. They ended up not charging me which I thought was great, but after replacing the motor a second time the replacement only lasted about a month before it started sounding odd. When I took a look at it only 1 of the 4 bolya holding the motor to the impeller was even screwed in all the way. Two of them weren't even halfway screwed in, let alone tight. Now the motor sounds like an elementary school recess bell with a continuous metallic sound. Would not recommend at all. Now I get to look for a new company to replace the motor for a third time in less than 2 years after spending around $500. read more

Okay if you happen to need a new pool motor do yourself a favor and don't go any place else. Totally above and beyond and it will cost you less than buying a new motor at a chain supply store. They took a little extra time to fix a leak and answer a few questions. The warranty on the motor is the same as new. The charge in total was $310, that was $30 less for a motor and seals at the local pool supply joint and included everything. read more

The worst experience ever with a business. I decided to create a yelp acount to warn others. As you can see this is my first review EVER. Back around February of 2017 I needed to replace my motor and everyone I called wanted to replace everything. When I contacted AZpoolmotors they offered that if the only roblem was the motor, they could install a new variable speed motor which would be more energy efficient. They gave me a quote on the phone to which I agreed and schedued the appointment for a [erson to come out and install it. The person came out (which apparenty turned out to be the owner of the company) He called me and told me the install was complete and wanted to show me how to operate the new motor. I was unable to get home from work, so he said he would just program it to what he felt was appropriate. I thanked him and asked him about payment to which he said he would go ahead and bill me. This is where it gets ugly. My cell phone started ringing from back to back to back calls from the AZpoolmotors main office. (Very unprofessional, as I was at work in meetings, but to be fair they did not know this) When I was done with my meetings, I checked my messages to find that they were calling me all these times to process payment over the phone instead. Before I even had a chance to call them back,my phone rings once again, this time it was John, I belive was his name, (the owner/installer) Letting me know that the home office was calling me to collect payment. So I went ahead and informed him of what was going on with all the phone calls, and asked him that if they required payment right away, why did they not request it when he had called me earier and told me that they would simply bill me? He proceeded to tell me "well, the motor is installed already and we need payment now, and you better pay us right now or I'm coming ater you!!!" I could not believe my ears. It had LITERALY been less than 6 hours since this motor was installed and I was being harrased about making payment. The owner was rude and condescending, asking what I did for a living, and that he didnt care who I was, he would come after me, so pay him or else! Ad then hung up on me. I called the office and talked to Michelle (the wife I believe) I explained to her my convesation with her husband, and how irational it was for him to act that way. I explained to Michelle that he has been to my house (custom home in gated community) clearly I had the means to easily pay the cost of their services without any issue, it was smply a matter of miscommunication since he said that they would bill me. She apologized for his behaviour and explained that they buy the motor up front and normally collect right away to recuperate those costs. I told her, as a business owner myself, I understand if this is their procedure but they should explain that better or simply collect the payment over the phone when the order is placed, which was cearly an option they could have exercised as well. Either way, I paid over the phone and decided to just forget about the whole thing and move on. About two months into the motor being installed, it stopped running. I only noticed because my pool was turning green. I wet and tried to manually run the motor and it woud not work. So I called into AZpoolmotors and left a message, They called me back the next day and left me a message suggestig that I cut power at the breaker for about 30 minutes and the motor shoulr "reset" and start working normally. I tried this method and sure enough, the motor started working again. Now every month or so, I have had to do the same thing. I notice my pool turning green, I go and check on the motor and it is not runing again, I reset it, it starts working again. So I called in today, left a message, and Michelle called back. Once again, she tels me that there is nothing wrng with the system as a whole. She suggest again that I simply reset it and tells me this is "routine" maintenance that everyone that has a pool has to do. "This is part of owning a pool" ; I explained to her that with my previous set up, it ran automatically and never required any "resetting". She tells me these new motors are like your computer at home or your cell phone and they need to be reset al the time. I asked her why this wasnt communicated to me at the begginning to which she responded, "YOU are the ONLY person who has ever complained about this" . I asked if there was something they could do, perhas this unit has a bad controller? Or something of the sorts? SHE LAUGHED AT ME!!! And said, "I dont know what you want me to do. There is nothing wrong wth it, this is routine for these motors. If youd like I can send someone out to reset it for you and you can pay the service call fee, but that would be a waste of your money, you can just reset it yourself" As a paying customer, you expect at least a minimum amount of appropriate customer service. This business lacks any in my opinion. read more

Very disappointed that we had an agreement for this company to come out to replace a pool motor on Saturday. No call no show. I wanted to upgrade my pool pump to a variable speed and the "other guys" said I needed the entire pump.... I called AZ Pool Motors and John came out and installed a new variable speed motor for half the price and it works beautifully. They could have recommended a entire pump.. at twice the price... but instead, they did the honest thing and provided only what I needed ! EVEN BETTER..... After showing up right on schedule, John took his time, explained everything and labeled everything on my pump, helped show me how to backwash the system and program the new unit. What more could a pool owner want !!! I highly recommend AZ Pool Motors if you want a professionally installed motor at the BEST PRICE out there. You can do like I did and waste a bunch of time calling several places, and getting conflicting recommendations resulting in extreme frustration.... I take reviews on Yelp seriously and all the reviews were positive so I reached out to get help with our burnt out motor. I sent John pics of my unit and he suggested I lift the motor and provided the cost for a rebuilt one. Once he got here he told us lifting it wasn't going to fix our issue so he did not do extra unnecessary work. He gave us a referral to get the unit protected from rain etc. and instead only installed a new rebuilt motor with the one year warranty. $310 installed. Great deal! I had a bad motor one time a as motos came out and replaced it 8 months later it burns out it will be on for 10-15 minutes and it will turn off for 20-30 minutes and turn back on and turn back off and it cost me again $169.00 so if you need a new motor. It was the middle of the Arizona summer and my pool pump stalled. I called all around the valley and kept getting the run around. I called AZ Pool Motors and left a voice message. I did not think I would get a call back. About 30 minutes later, I received a call from John who walked me through the process. There was no pressure and John gave me some pretty good advice based on my line of questioning. He did not try and up-sell me or pressure me into anything. He quoted me a price over the phone that included installation. I purchased a new variable speed motor from John that came with a 4 year warranty. John came to my home a few days later and I received a courtesy text just prior to let me know John was on his way. John arrived on time and he did so much more then install my new pump. My pool pump motor had seen better days. the previous owner had some work done on it, long story short wrong parts where put in. When our pool pump motor began to fail, we wanted a perfect duplicate and ordered it online. When it arrived a few days later in damaged condition, and the provider couldn't replace it in less than several weeks, we found AZ Pool Motors. They came quickly, and brought a rebuilt motor in case the new but damaged motor could not be used. I really expected the tech to tell me my motor was no good and install the one he brought, but the opposite happened. He tested the motor to make sure it was good, tweaked the damaged bit so it was workable and installed it, leaving me with exactly what I wanted -- three perfectly matched motors running our equipment quietly and efficiently. When we noticed a small leak a week later, they returned the same day we called and fixed that too -- at no charge.
