I am SO excited about finding this AMAZING company! The nicest folks AND the most skilled. I paid a fortune to a Carefree based company to do a complete new pool system w/ new gas heater a couple years ago..... They were horrible...Nothing worked correctly and they refused to fix anything. Pentair even sent 2 repair techs to help with the gas heater and they did nothing/ said nothing was wrong. 3 years later....my gas heater is (still) having issues.... called Pelican Bay...they sent Doug out....WOW..... he heard and smelled the gas and KNEW what the problem was....and adjusted the gas/air ratio. WOW...so for 3 years my heater did not work / did not work correctly..... the installers (the company from Carefee, and the Pentair warranty folks), did not know or do anything....but Doug from Pelican Bay figured it out in ONE MINUTE and fixed it. Doug also pointed out other improper installation issues that needed to be adressed and he was RIGHT. Pentair pool equipment manufacturer provided Pelican Bay Pools to me as an authorized Pentair warranty provider. So thankful. They fixed some warranty issues about a year ago and then I needed them again to actually finish installing my UV Bioshield system that my pool contractor refused to complete. Doug did a great job finishing that work and even providing me more education on other issues since I am my own pool boy. Michele at the office was equally amazing. Had a lot of difficulty finding the parts and she searched the entire Valley and finally got what we needed. They are both very personable, a class act, and outstanding representatives for their company. I find it difficult to find good companies to do work that I can't. Pelican Bay Pools upgraded my old Pentair Easytouch automation equipment to the Pentair Intellicenter system. The company specialist Doug is a technical wizard and did a great job. He is a fountain of information and clearly explained how to run the system from the new app. The new system and app are far easier to use than the outdated Easytouch system. Based on my experience, I would not hesitate to use Pelican Bay Pools again in the future. read more

Our Pentair pool controller we had used for 5 years suddenly acted up. We had asked Pentair who their local repair people were - they gave us several names and we chose these guys to come out & diagnose the problem. The man came out & got it up & running but suggested we swap it out for the newer more automated model. We are happy we did. He returned today and installed it and we now have a new app that shows everything and is easy to understand. It we have future problems we give the office our password so they can remotely diagnose the problem. Epic! read more

The top half of my pool filter housing split. My warrant company sent out someone that told me that no one in the valley had the part. They also said it was on back order and the wait could be as long as two months. I contacted the manufacturer directly and was referred to Pelican Bay Pool. A couple of phone calls to determine exactly which model I needed I was told someone would be out the next day to replace it at half the cost of the previous company's estimate. They arrived during the scheduled time, replaced the housing cover, made sure everything was running properly and even took the broken part with them. I did not select this company. They were sent by my home warranty company. After failing to call with a window for arrival, he arrived tested told me it was shorted out. Mentioned that there is a line from water so when we have a landscaper improve the drainage. Guess what??? Claim denied because they said it was flooded. BEWARE! DON'T TRUST! Their customer service attitude of their office personnel is extremely rude and unprofessional. They have been out to my home 3x and never fixed the "original" problem that the manufacturer stated was the issue. This vendor is an authorized service dealer for Pentair/Intelliconnet which makes your "remote" controls for pools, spas and water features at your mercy. When you call and place a service call they make you do all the leg work with Pentair and then come out and tell you one thing that is wrong and why its not working and after almost 100 days of back and forth changed their story and said it was fixed, but the claim they fixed the problem on something that was not even a problem from the beginning. Well if you want a company that will come to your home, eyeball your pool and try to convince you that yes, it's normal to lose 10 inches of water 3-4 times a week due to evaporation (????)and insist that you are wrong, despite the fact that the water has never leaked below the skimmer - although the water never "evaporates" past that point, oh and take payment and walk away without finding a leak then pelican bay is great at that. Oh and they are great at calling you back and berating you and telling you that you are stupid and don't have a leak. Then what you should do is call leak detectives who found the leak in the skimmer, the same place you were CERTAIN that it wasn't. Hear this - I will continue to write bad reviews and tell every single person I know about your complete lack of service and professionalism - for a long long time. read more

I am very disappointed with this company. They were dispatched by my home warranty company to look at my salt cell. I was told that the technician would be to the house between 4 and 5 on Thursday. There were two adults and three kids home all afternoon waiting for him to arrive. Imagine my surprise when I found a note at my front door that he had come and left... When I called the company to re-schedule I was told it was my fault, they told me after talking to the tech that he heard voices inside and rang the doorbell several times and nobody answered... I was very surprised to hear this as well. I would think that if he could hear voices inside and tried to ring the bell and knock that he might have called my contact number too! My suspicion is that he just left when he found the side gate locked (that was the reason listed on the note) and went home early... Especially since the office person had already told me that she scheduled me at the end of the day since I was close to the technicians house... The main reason that I am upset besides the fact that I will have to wait another week to get my salt system fixed is that the office staff immediately took the tech's side and treated me like I had done something wrong. I am beginning to think that these businesses just don't care about providing courteous service anymore. read more

I didn't choose these guys. The MFG of the equipment sent them out for warranty work. They came out twice to fix pool and spa lights. The first time, the lights happened to be working so they did nothing. Didn't check anything. The 2nd time, they 'lost' my workorder. They are supposed to call in 72 hours to set up service but didn't call at all. I called them 5 days later and they said they completely missed it. Fine, I get it, they are a small operation and things happen. Their tech finally came out and they told the MFG it was fixed. They didn't bother calling me. But the lights were still not working when i got home later that day. The guy may have thought he fixed it but never checked the lights per my security cameras. I left them a message and they called me back but the person on the phone kept interrupting me and never let me fully explain the problem. She hung up on me and well that's that. If you have choice, and you do, choose someone else. read more

Larry with Pelican Bay was fantastic. Not only did he fix the issue with my pool, but he took the time to look at everything else to make sure no further issues would happen. I also had a few questions on pool operability and he spent a great amount of time explaining everything thoroughly and making sure I understood. Since Larry left, my pool has been operating at a level I have never seen. Everything works great! These guys are true pros with both pool understanding as well as customer service. Pelican Bay Pools is an absolute Joke!!!! I would not recommend this company to clean pools in Iraq. They were charging me $90/Month + Chemicals, and billing me $120 - $200 every month. I now have a much more reliable service charging a flat rate of $80/Month. They charged me an additional $750 to put new DE Filters, Powder and new O-ring in my filter, and cracked 2 of the new filters while installing, which I found out later by my new service company. On top of all this, The customer service is awful. Nobody ever answers the phone. In my opinion, Larry is not running an honest business, and he is charging outrageous prices. With so many options for Pool Services in Phoenix/Glendale/Peoria, I would look elsewhere and know there are plenty of companies that will not charge additional for chemicals. read more

We got our pool resurfaced and equipment replaced this past spring by Pelican Bay Pools and we couldn't be happier. When we first met Larry we could tell he knew about pools. Pelican Bay Pools was recommended to us by our pool cleaner. We have used other pool companied to fix our filter- had the whole grid system replaced, the pump motor replaced- different pool company and will never have that guy back. Now our pool pump and pipes were leaking so we decided to try this company, couldn't hurt. They came out that week to look at it, gave an estimate and were not pushy. We agreed the estimate was reasonable and done that week in a timely manner. Problem was solved. Or so we thought. The next day DE was shooting out the jets- not good. I called Pelican Bay and explained to them the issue. they had someone come out next day to look at it... no problems with anything, pool was back to running normal, no charge for the extra visit out. We were very happy with their service and will definitely call them again for any other repairs we need. read more

This pool company is rude, is crooked, and does not stand behind their work. I have a brand new Pentair pool heater. This company came out to fix it and claimed a rat ate the wiring and it was not under warranty. I them cash to fix it. The only thing is that is was not fixed. The pool still showed the same error message and they refused to come back out to fix it. The owner Margie was rude and threatening and had little concern that they took my money. She was not willing to fix the problem that I paid them to fix. Another pool company had been out just before they came out and did not see a wiring problem. After talking to the warranty company it sounds like they just made up a story about a mouse and pocketed my money. I am left to sue them to recover the damages. I have mixed feelings about this company. They did a good job when I first moved in. I had them drain the pool, do an acid wash, refill it and do weekly maintenance. Later I paid them to replace the old filter, and plumbing. All of which I am happy with and it is still quality work. Now the bad. That monthly service equated to a cloudy pool that I constantly got negative comments about. I agreed to 90 dollars a month, and without my consent, my bank was charged for 140 a month 2 months in a row for an "algae treatment". When I finally blew up and fired them, I decided to do the pool myself. After probably about 5 minutes of reading, I brushed the pool, shocked it, and it has been crystal clear ever since. Do I think I got treated like a punk? Yes. Was I extremely pissed that a company would swindle me? Yes. Did they do good *actual* work, yes. So I would not recommend them for monthly service, but I would for repairs. read more

After reading everyone else's review that was less than two stars, I COMPLETELY AGREE!!!! Our first issue was about a year ago when I noticed our pool pump's pressure was high and one of the pipes was leaking. I went through our home warranty (FIDELTY) and told them about it. Pelican Bay Pool (LARRY) came out and "fixed" the issue. A couple weeks later I noticed that the pressure was still high and I accidentally broke the pressure gauge. So, I called the warranty out again but this time, they sent a different company (We Fix Ugly Pools). The tech changed everything, did an AWESOME job, but then noticed that the pipes that Larry changed was NOT fixed. He said, it's pretty obvious that this guy didn't change everything out. So, this new tech called my home warranty place to see if he can fix it for us, but unfortunately, my warranty said they had to call Larry back out. So, Larry came back out and "fixed" the issue. Three months go by and I'm having MORE issues. So, I called the home warranty and they brought Larry back. Well, Larry replaced the impellar on my pump (which I knew was the issue). It took him two visits to come change it. About a month later, I finally was able to look at the issue (I had gotten into an accident and the month passed by was the first chance I was able to look at the fixed work), and well, here we go again, the SAME PVC was leaking again. THE ORIGINAL issue was back! I called the home warranty and I had taken a day off and Larry said, "Well, I'm not going to be able to fix this today, I have the next two weeks off because of the holidays, you can call your warranty company back and ask them for another place to come out." So, that's exactly what I did and Fidelty said they are the only company that covers our area. So, I had to wait TWO weeks for them to enjoy their holidays while my pool turned green. Finally, Larry came back and my wife had to take some time off and he "fixed" the issue. The following day, I came out and looked at it and AGAIN there are OBVIOUS pipes that are leaking! I called my home warranty place and they said I would have to pay another co-pay if I wanted a different company to come out. So I said let's have Larry come out again. When the lady called me to make an appointment she got rude with me because I told them they had to come on a Saturday, both my wife and I have taken off TOO much time from work for them to NOT fix the issue. She said well, we don't have tech's that work on the weekend because we like to give them off the weekend. I said I don't care, they need to come out when I can be home so I can show the guy that he keeps screwing it up! She asked me to call my warranty place and ask for a different company too and I said, believe me I have and unfortunately you guys are the only ones that serve my area so we're a little stuck with each other. So instead of getting more pissed off at her, I told her she needed to call my wife before I said something even more rude. Finally, today, they sent out a different technician. So we'll see if it's actually fixed tomorrow. read more

I have several complaints about Pelican Bay Pools including not diagnosing original leak correctly and taking 6 days and three visits to replace a manifold on water heater that finally blew. I am willing to give them the benefit of the doubt on the leak and the three times they returned (twice without the right parts). But, when they did not give me a written report on what they did or knock on the door to tell us that they had finished the job and left all the parts and pieces of PVC and gaskets all over the area I have had it with Pelican Bay Pools and they will not be back to my house. read more

This company was contaracted with my home warrenty company. They came out on a service call and told the company that the filter needed replacing. They then said that there would be un covered charges of $444 that I would have to pay. $144 for sand for the filter and $300 for removing the old sand which they called an "access fee" I was told by the warranty company that the fee was for removal of the old filter and sand, and that was not covered under the plan. It took 5 phone calls to get that explained to me because the person who answers the phone at pelican did not know how to explain it and was going to have the tech call me . They said they would be out on monday and fix the filter. i got a call from the tech saying he would not make it and it would have to be Tuesday. So they came a replaced the filter, left the old filter in my yard and told me if i wanted to removed I would have to pay another $70 to have it removed. So I went out to start my pool and the pressure gage read 35lbs. I called Mike the foreman and asked what the pressure should be and he stated around 15 lbs. I told him what it was and he said he would send the tech out and see what the problem was. The next day the tech called and asked me if about the problem, and stated that I should file a claim with the home warranty company and he would come out and see what was happening. I called the foreman to tell him that I expected the pool to run correctly after the new filter was installed and he has yet to return my callers. The office person called my warranty company stating that I stilled owed them $444 and that they are not able to locate me, even though all this time I am in discussions with their Forman. Do not use these guys for any pool services. I believe they do not care about customer service and have questionable business practices. My next call will be to the registrar of contractors to file a complaint. read more

This company is so incompetent it is almost funny. almost. While there would be weeks where they didn't even show up, the billing by the front office is even worse. They are unorganized, don't follow any schedules, and forget that they billed you and end up billing you again months later. I would NEVER recommend Pelican Bay Pools to anyone for service repair. I had to use them through my Home Warranty Co., Fidelity. I have contacted Fidelity to remove them from the approved vendor list. This company was called out to fix a problem with a filter that my filter was re-distributing debris back into the pool. Larry went out the property and said the problem was my Hayward vac. I insisted they speak with my weekly service tech. to understand the problem completely (because Larry NEVER looked at the filter, he walked up and did a cursor review, that's all he did or he would have discovered the issue. (I had to push and push this issue that the vac. was not the cause of the problem and fixing the vac. would not fix the problem). Finally Larry got the message through voice messages my tech. left on Larry's phone, Larry NEVER called my tech. back to have a live conversation. Larry went out with the right part to repair the problem. In doing so he drops the bad part into the value that ends up causing blockage for the pump and filter to run properly. (if my tech. had not discovered this so quickly it could have caused severe problems to the unt, maybe this is Pelican's way to continue to mild money out of the Home Warranty company to keep coming back to fix problems, ??? not sure, but just saying what it looks like !!!) My tech. on Monday March 12th, 2012 discovers this, takes the unit apart, retreives the broken part and puts everything back together properly. Now I am fighting with Pelican to pay for the bill my tech. charged for fixing the problem Pelican caused. I don't know if Larry did this on purpose or was purely STUPID, CARELESS or just didn't give a flying ____ about fixing the unit correctly the first time. I will make sure Fidelity removes them from the approved pool provider list and that everyone I know will hear about this company. Just thought my fellow Pool Owner's in the Scottsdale area should know about these BOZO's. read more

I'm thoroughly unimpressed with this company. I have a contract with Fidelity home warranty and this is the company they sent out to fix a leaking backwash valve. The technician replaced the valve and told me he verified the leak was fixed. When I turned on the pump later that day, water was leaking from both connections feeding into the filter. Instead of a small leak, I now have a big leak and am unable to run the pump without draining the pool. When I reported the issue, the CS rep informed me they wouldn't be able to have a tech out to look at it for 4 DAYS! This was a problem they caused and this response was unacceptable in my book. They should have had a tech out to fix it immediately or the next day at a minimum. I told them not to bother and asked the warranty company to send a different company to fix Pelican's shoddy work. Save yourself the hassle and don't do business with this outfit! read more
