Very little time spent sctually cleaning the pool. More just testing chemicals and adding chlorine tabs. Empties baskets, but we do that already. We're close to just doing it ourselves for the price they charge for the mediocre service. Update: I did communicate that we were disappointed with the amount of time spent on our pool cleaning, which literally is 5 minutes, I took a video timing it actually. The owner defended his employee stating he has several pools to clean in one day. I don't expect perfection, but I expect more than a guy stopping over to drop chlorine tablets in fir the price paid. Our tech was a nice young man, very kind to our dogs and us. Too bad he has so many clients and wasn't able to provide more than 5 minutes of time on our pool. After posting this review, the owner emailed me terminating our service immediately. Hmmm...seems if he really cared, he would have called me to discuss. I wish our tech the best. read more

They are consistent, reliable, fair, honest, and have worked with me on any issue or need that I have had. All work, whether it be the weekly cleaning or a repair has been done on time. This company was great for a few months UNTIL the frequency and individuals coming to service the pool lacked consistency. I took water samples pre and post expected dates of service to learn the values were no where close to what was reported on my bill that falsely indicated chemical use. When asked about this quality of service and value charged, then Dan and Wanda became unresponsive by phone and official letter to their business address on file. This experience resulted in expenses to re-key to lock my back gate (as the company was given a key). I would recommend shopping around and also consider testing any pool company's pH and other pool values reported pre and post "service visit." This review is coming from the fact that Dan decided to take a shot at me over text so I'd like you guys to know the kind of person he is and the kind of business he is running. I reached out to Dan from a friend referral because the bad storms we get in phoenix turn our pools green. I told him about my situation and was very responsive and tentative to helping us out. Ryan came out quickly to do an evaluation on the pool and it needed some work. Filters hadn't been cleaned, needed a drain, etc. Overall cost was 646$. I even tipped Ryan on the Side $100 for coming out over the holiday weekend!!!! (November 24). Then I informed Dan I'd like to start a monthly service which he told me was $110/month starting 12/11. I informed Dan that I would like to continue services even though I had to move to the Gulf Shores so I had a tenant move in. This is where it began to turn to crappy service, I don't think my pool was up to parr with his standards or the fact that I was gone, I'm not entirely sure. But I started to get multiple invoices for different number multiple times in the month. I reached out to Dan and he had told me I was past due but every invoice I had clicked on in my email said "Paid". I asked him to send me an itemized breakdown of the charges but these were charges I did not authorize. He of course was trying to upsell me on stuff and the only other separate invoice I should have had was 110$ for filter clean which I told him I did not want to do a second time, and to let me know before hand if they did anything extra on top of the monthly service which is 100% why I'm considered "late" in his eyes. Now the invoices I'm going to attach were twice a month for different costs which made no sense to me so instead of arguing with Dan I paid both invoices separately and asked him when he could resume the services. He never responded to me and my tenant asked me where they have been because the last time they serviced the pool was 1/29. So from 12/11-1/29 would be 220$ correct? No I got three separate invoices for 233.32, 239.18, and 225.18. So monthly total of 697.68? This happened in December as well. And then they sent more in February after not coming out to do the service. Now after all this confusion, I reach out again to Dan asking what's going on and he told me that accounts after 30 days passed due are suspended. I'm thinking okay cool let me just catch this up for whatever reason he needs to come back and service the pool, but absolutely not he said he filled my spot instead. These text conversations will be posted here so you can see there was no communication of a cancellation of service- but wait I got a demand for payment from Dan personally on 2/21. Saying "Service is suspended until payments are made. We do accept credit cards." So where is the cancellation Dan? I have an email thread of him saying what was due and it sure wasn't what he had told me. So today my response from him was "Unprofessional? How late was i with the service? You asked on the phone if i has stop service and i told you we had. We serviced the pool on time, can you say that about payments? Service is suspended, stopped, canceled however you wish to phrase it. Good bye!" After I questioned him on how confusing the invoices were, after I paid him all of the money for all invoices, and asked him why he was avoiding my questions. I did tell him this was unprofessional because it is. No notice of cancellation but "give me my money" type attitude is crazy without explanation. Some response from an owner of a company. Instead of talking with me about business and how to figure this out he really just didn't seem to care and I personally don't want someone like this around my house anyways. Now I know Dan is going to hop on here and try to make me sound stupid because I didn't understand invoices, but simple matter is nobody deserves to be treated that way, regardless of the situation, be a man of your word and own it, and if a customer is confused maybe take a second to help them understand what is happening. Instead of belittling them saying "well I was never late but you were". Crazy that I have to write this but it's best everyone knows this dude has a snotty attitude and will cancel you without explanation. Sure Dan maybe I was late on something but instead of sending a bunch of invoices that say paid - help a paying customer out, can't come on here saying you don't have your money because you do buddy! Best of luck to you pissing customers off. Also live update he serviced my pool for 1.5 months and it's already back to green! Picture attached as of 3/11. We've used this service for 3+ years ... the last year has been rough. I've had to travel a lot and when I came back in May, my pool was dark (not green all the way), dirty and my cameras that have on my back porch to monitor activity had not indicated anyone had been at the house the entire time I was gone (about 4 weeks). I emailed Dan about my concerns, which also mentioned that when he changed my time to 5 am, I forgot to unlock the gate but ran downstairs, saw Ryan parked on the street, immediately texted him and asked him to come back and he never did. He told me he doesn't text or call people before 7am, yet they want to change the service to 5am start. I didn't complain and just went with it. The response I got from Dan was "we had the wrong email." and he sent me 4 weeks of a picture of my pool, which was dark and green. Did not address my concern about Ryan not coming back nor demonstrated any empathy or explanation that I was receiving service. So for the next two visits, I got up before 5, waited until Ryan showed up - he was on my property less than 2 minutes, which explains how he avoids my cameras because he's not here long enough for them to pick him up (giving him the benefit that he was showing up but just doing a crappy job)... He barely brushed the pool - total of 5 hits around the entire pool, dropped chlorine tabs in the skimmer and left. Today, I got up again before 5, watched him from my balcony - didn't brush at all this time, opened the skimmer, dropped tabs and started to leave. I asked him as he was leaving if he tested the water. He said he did, but he didn't. Nor did he the week before. The pool has a green hue to it (not bad), and his smart aleck remark was "if it was bad it would be green." He lied to me ... so I emailed Dan and said I'd had enough. Basically wrote what I am posting here in this review. Got an email back a few hours later that said "Got it." Wow .... 3+ years of service, complaining twice and poof that's it. Don't waste your time with Shimmering waters. Regardless of how long I've used their service, I am obviously zero valued. 40 years in the business, Dan? Lost your customer service skills? That's all you have to say? Looking forward to how he responds here ... maybe I'll get another "got it". Just be aware that there are multiple 2024 reviews here that are not good ... but some of these folks at least got more than "got it." Dan doesn't need my business I guess. I am pretty sure he won't value yours either. I guess you shut off my ability to reply to your lies, Dan. That sure was fast to respond to my review. We had the pool drained and cleaned but also repair work was done as a piece of the rebar tie was starting to come through the pebble tech surface. These guys have been great in the two and a half years I've been dealing with them. The owner, Dan, is customer service oriented and will help you out in any situation. They resurfaced my pool with a cool blue pebble tech material with deep blue tiles and it looks sweet. No delays, BS, etc in that process as it went smoothly in a timely fashion. The office is easy to deal with as in zero billing probs and the same tech has been on route for the entire time I've used them. His name is Ryan and he also is highly service oriented and friendly. They send you an e-mail every time they finish the service telling you what they did, providing a picture of your pool and advise if anything is needed. These guys are very good IMO. read more

Monthly pool service was up to par with most local pool services, $110/month plus chemicals. I don't understand why we were charged for a week of service in April so Dan could give his Tech's a week off before the start of "busy season". Why should I pay for him to give his workers a week off? My real complaint is that I had Dan install a gas heater for our pool and he hired a pluming company to install the gas line which he included understandably as part of his bill. His plumber's gas line however was not installed properly and wouldn't pass inspection to the point that I had to have a contractor and plumber come out and redo the entire gas line hookup. Dan agreed that he'd accept the costs to have my contractor re-plumb the gas line properly which then did pass inspection and he would back charge his plumber to cover the costs. When his plumber refused to accept the back charge Dan refused to pay my contractor, stopped taking my calls and texts and left me with the bill. He refused to even come out and inspect the project. Needless to say I fired him immediately. I would not recommend Shimmering Waters Pool Service and would advise others seeking honest pool service to look elsewhere. read more

Service is really poor. They are usually in and out in less than 5 mins. All they do is empty the waste basket, put in chemicals, & test the waters. They do not brush the pool wall or bottom of the pool very well. I would never recommend this service to anyone unless you like paying for service you don't get. That's why I cancel after 1 month of service not worth the money. I suggest looking elsewhere for your service and the owner has very poor attitude. read more

Only have good things to say about Shimmering Waters. I bought a house last year with a pool and something happened where the pool level kept going down day by day. I reached out to 4 different pool companies who all said it's likely a crack and water is leaking which terrified me. I then called Dan of Shimmering Waters and he offered to come by my house while I was at work and take a look. Lo and behold it was a simple turn of a valve that he happily took care of me for me at no charge. It happened again a couples months back and again, Dan came and took care of it as a courtesy. But I wanted to know how to take care of my pool on my own and how the whole thing works. Luckily they offer a pool school. Ryan from Shimmering came by on a Saturday and spent over an hour with me checking everything, teaching me about the water flow and how to best maintain everything. I'm thankful to have found Shimmering Waters as they went above and beyond for me. I would recommend them to anyone. Thankfully I have been fortunate to not have a history of leaving poor reviews. However I have never been so dissatisfied with a company and the quality of work they provide. Dan and his team came out 3 times to my property for simple installation of pool pump and repair of ball valves. First visit they forgot parts and only completed part of work. Second visit where they missed an agreed upon ball valve on water feature so was not able to shut off feature. The repairs they did do instantly started leaking around newly placed PVC fittings. Third visit all installation completed and woke up next morning to see leaking around PVCs repairs that they placed. Paid 2,500.00 dollars for pump and repairs, and now I am left finding new company to replace all the plumbing mistakes they made. The leaks were likely from not cleaning off PVC fittings prior to glueing as I found multiple shavings on fittings when cleaning salt cell. Poor craftsmanship and no pride in their work. Would not waste your time or money with Shimmering Waters. read more

I definitely do not recommend this company. I would give them zero stars if possible. They have zero customer service skills and don't perform quality work. The day they came out to change a pool pump their tools were in a 5-gallon bucket and they dumped them on the ground. I knew right then I had hired the wrong company. They had some sort of issue removing a part from the old pump so they worked on it on the side of my home...didn't get it fixed until the next day and left various parts/pieces from the old pump on the ground for me to clean up. They finally got the pump changed the next day and I noticed they did not hook up the grounding wire so I had to call them back out to hook it up. This is a basic step that should have been done and is just an indication of the lack of quality work they perform. When they did repair the wire it was not done correctly so I would up redoing it myself. Seven months after the pump was installed it's already having issues and when I asked if it was under warranty the answer I got was "find brand name, magntech, aosmith, pentair. go to the website for that company and fill out warranty requests. I am not a warranty center." I got the same answer when I asked about an owner's manual when the pump was installed...look it up online. No worries, I will hire a company that understands the meaning of customer service and performing quality work since you don't offer either of those services. read more

When my pool turned green, I got the run around from 2 places. I called Dan and he came the next day. After 3 visits the pool was blue again. He also charged me $20 for a new skimmer when the other place said I needed whole new set for $150. I've had them service my pool weekly since then and all the techs are nice and super helpful. I love how I get an email w/ pic showing my service was done. Only downside is buying my own chlorine and paying a small gas fee. I'd still recommend them any day! read more

Dan Hardin after about 1 year of service with us terminated my service by email effective immediately with no advanced notice. This is with me paying my invoice on time every month. He tells me one day that my water level was very low and that could effect the pump. He offers to sell me a water leveler to put in the pool. I told him I was going away for a few weeks and that if the pool continues to be low, I will do that. Then for 4 straight weeks he says the water was fine, so I didn't have him install the water leveler. Then last week he terminates the service immediately saying the water level was low again. I would have had him install the leveler but I didn't even get the chance to do it. Very poor communication and terrible way to run a Business. Seems there were alternative reasons why he terminated. If business is too busy to service properly or something like that, give some warning. Now I'm stuck over Labor Day trying to find another pool company to service my pool. I am extremely disappointed in Dan and his business style. I highly recommend being very careful if you choose this company for pool service. read more

Over the weekend I busted the lever off the top of my Hayward filter and the owner made sure to stay in contact with me via text to confirm he would be there on Monday (which understandably was the soonest he could get there since all the pool part warehouses were closed). I have been with this company for about 5 years. Dan and his team get the job done. Repairs are done in a timely manner. The only reason I hesitate to give 5 stars is because 1 small dispute about the pool turning green for 2 weeks after it was discovered that my popups weren't functioning properly. Also my water is due to be changed out. While I still believe this is not a good reason for the pool to be green that long, Dan and his associates did take extra action to rectify the situation. We've used Shimmering Waters for 5+ years now and have always been impressed w/ the service and value.

Where to begin on a highly negative review about a pool re-do by this company? For 10 months I have waited for the main problem, a problem this company was the cause of, to be rectified, to no avail. I can only guess Dan is waiting two more months for the warranty to be over so he is not accountable for his mistake. This months call was unanswered. Synopsis~ DO NOT use this man for a pool renovation. He is a pool guy for pool maintenance only. He did well when he fixed our pool pump. Not so much for a simple pool renovation. He has no crew or techs relying on him for reputation. He is a very expensive and unnecessary middle man. He hires a crew to do the work and then leaves the customer to oversee the project. I REGRET deciding to hire him. All I have wanted and STILL want is the leveler to work! A leveler I did not even want. A leveler that was added at his cost and the crews labor because he was not overseeing this renovation. Over a month to complete, I do not lie when I say he showed up TWO times only, until final bill day. An abandoned line was not only not sealed, but perfectly mini pebbled around. To add insult to incompetence, Dan was handing me a final bill while a drain cover was being screwed on to "hide" the mistake. See pictures. You will see my hand and a totally USELESS hole with a drain cover on it (before the leveler was added) as the water was filling up to further "hide" the mistake! How did a hole like that get forgotten? Honest mistake you can think. But you see, a big deal was made of that area. It was an old line only 2' from the filter. A new designated vacuum line was desired and hope was to be put right there. But no, Dan stated there was fear of the crew digging in that area and hitting electrical lines of the pool light. We wanted no safety hazard so as suggested we agreed to the new line, at a costly fee of digging and re-plumbing 20' on the other side of the pool. Somehow the crew forgot that danger, thought the hole had purpose and left it, as they perfectly plastered around the useless hole of danger. Later when demanded to fix, they had to dig in that area anyways for their solution of making the useless hole, useful~ a water leveler. I flat out refused to have a mini pebble "patch" on a brand spanking new mini pebble plastered pool. It was admitted that a patch would show. I say that about the crew in jest. Among a communication barrier, they honestly tried as hard as they could with what was thrown at them. The customer pointing out mistakes and the biggest problem, being the absent Dan, the guy hired to do the job! Everything I relayed to him upon our planning discussion literally had to be re-communicated to the crew at each step. I kid you not when I say, he would call to tell what to tell them! Unprofessional! So now what I have is the first useless hole in the side of the pool and a useless hole outside the pool for the leveler that levels the pool water if you shoot hose water through it to start it. Then it doesn't work until you do that again. Four times Dan or the crew came out and that is what they did, blew water through it and it worked that day. As the water evaporates, it has never turned on again on its own since 11/11/14. Pics, emails & video has been sent to Dan to show that it is not functioning with out that kick start. Imagine buying a new car and you have to get a jump to start it every time. Would that be acceptable? This situation is not acceptable. Dan said he wanted me to be happy when I looked at my pool. It was lip service because I am still not happy and he will not honor the warranty (as I throw my hose in to fill the pool right next to the non functioning water leveler). I have been very patient. At this point I am pissed, two months away from the one year warranty expiring, wondering if legal action is my only avenue. So since I have to waste my time writing this review I think it pertinent to add more mistakes for you to consider if you consider hiring this company and as I said, I lay blame on Dan's shoulders for not being present as HE was hired to do the job ... -Be clear on what grout you want. My mistake maybe, I assumed the grout would be white to blend in nicely with the light blue plaster. It is literally cement grey. Cement, as in used my skimmer basket to strain the rocks from cement and used as grout. The white water line shines brightly against the grey cement grout. -Later mentioned I need a skimmer basket as I don't have one. When pointed out what mine was used for and where I seen it last in the garbage pile, a new one magically appeared. -Another dead line, an abandoned aerator line, was also forgotten to be sealed and covered to the point of being PERFECTLY tiled around. Was fixed. And by now crew and customer is super frustrated and tense. Dan? Nowhere to be seen. Oh there is more! But there is a cap for writing on here (see pics). I hope to come back and say he fixed the problem! Doubt it after this review. read more
