Unfortunately the Pool Shack owner was paid and you are reading the typical Phoenix contractor customer horror story because once my final PayPal payment went through, Pool Shack refused to stand by their work to leave the job site without setting up the new pump functioning or adding chemicals to our freshly filled pool water. Apparently Robert was upset because I didn't sign up for weekly pool service even though my request to try out their service prior to signing a year contract or by my final payment not completed in cash or by check as demanded. The owner claimed PayPal was not an option because they didn't have an account set up and instead insisted that I deliver a check or cash which wasn't possible since I was out of town however when I went to search on PayPal, I found the Pool Shack business account right away so I made my final payment out of trust and I was insured that the job was complete with the pool running with chemicals in full working order which it wasn't. Pool Shack took advantage of my trust for contracting more pool work and since the previous job was completed according to the work contracted, I had a comfort level that in my absence the pool would be in good standing upon my return. Pool shack knew the next weekly pool service wouldn't happen until a week from my payment but since this didn't happen the pool was found in dire straights which was discovered by our pool service with a total of 11 day's since new pool water was filled and after Pool Shack left the equipment powered off without chemicals. Needless to say and shown by my photo algae growth sets in quickly in triple digits with the above circumstances. Since extreme measures with shocking/pumping still didn't turn the situation around in time to prepare the home for vacation rental, we were forced to drain, acid wash and refill all over again. At the time I was too upset to write this honest review to warn other customers and I rely on real people sharing business reviews so I feel that this one is well overdue. Bottom line is that the owners of Pool Shack and their representatives aren't reputable nor do they run their business with integrity. This left me with an unfinished pool repair and much worse than the condition of the pool upon the start/completion of the job. The end result of the algae green pool completely negated the money spent on the freshly acid washed pool + fresh water fill by the men intentionally leaving the pool without a running pool pump or chemicals added upon leaving. I am a reasonable person with over 20 years of working with contractors and I would NOT recommend using Pool Shack for any pool repairs, electrical work or monthly pool service.

They asked me to send a couple of pictures and answer a few questions, then provided quotes for both repair and replacement options. I also did some research on the company and found out they are licensed, bonded, and insured, which gave me peace of mind. Their pricing was also very reasonable compared to other quotes we received. In the end, we decided to replace the pool pump. Chris explained the quote and options, Robyn handled the scheduling and payment process, and Michael came out for the installation. At the time, a complete pump replacement, including labor and taxes, was around $1,600. Fast forward to this year: the motor failed less than 1.5 months after the warranty expired. Given how close the failure was to the warranty period, I contacted the company hoping they would offer some goodwill assistance or a reasonable discount. Instead, I was quoted between $2,150 and $2,800 for a replacement, depending on the model and horsepower, with only a $100 discount offered. What makes this especially frustrating is that the 1.5 HP pump model they quoted is available online for around $1,150. The pricing difference feels excessive. Based on my experience, I would be very cautious about using this company for repairs. I understand warranties have limits, but I expected better customer service and a more reasonable resolution given that the motor failed so soon after the warranty expired. We purchased a brand-new spa and have been dealing with issues since November 2025. From the beginning, we experienced problems that simply should not have existed on a new product, including discovering an incorrect pump had been installed, malfunctioning aerators, control screen issues, and other items requiring troubleshooting, repair, or replacement. Early on, the owner acknowledged that their spas are stored in a non-climate-controlled warehouse and explained that the Arizona summer heat can cause components to warp and create issues. I appreciated the honesty, but found that concerning. A customer purchasing a brand-new spa shouldn't have to deal with the consequences if storage conditions have affected the product. The exterior panels were not damaged upon delivery, but because of the amount of internal troubleshooting required, they were removed and reinstalled repeatedly. This eventually resulted in damaged panels and missing fastener/button pieces. Because of the number of issues, we were even offered a replacement spa. We considered it, but the spa offered was not comparable in luxury features and amenities to the one we purchased. We didn't feel accepting a less-equipped spa was a fair resolution, so we chose to continue working with the dealer in good faith to get the spa we actually purchased functioning properly. To their credit, some of the larger problems were eventually addressed. However, there are STILL items that have not worked properly since day one and remain unresolved. At this point, my biggest complaint isn't even that the spa had problems. Things can go wrong. My biggest complaint is the lack of communication and follow-through. Essentially every ounce of communication throughout this process has had to be initiated by me. I have had to repeatedly ask for updates, follow up when I don't hear anything, and try to keep the process moving. There has been virtually no proactive communication from the dealer. We have been beyond patient and understanding. I have made a conscious effort to be kind, reasonable, and respectful because I understand that problems happen and not everything can be fixed overnight. At this point, however, I can't help but feel that my patience and understanding have been mistaken for complacency. Being understanding does not mean I am okay with unresolved problems. The remaining issues are relatively small, which almost makes this more frustrating. I have been reaching out for months trying to get them resolved with little to no response. After dealing with this since November 2025, I should not still be chasing someone down over items that haven't worked since the spa was brand new. A hot tub is a significant investment. We gave this dealer every opportunity to make things right before leaving a negative review. Unfortunately, after months of continuing to be the one initiating communication while issues remain unresolved, I feel sharing our experience is warranted.
