Just got endorsed by awesome cycles... great environment and def recommend! All skill levels were in our class and the instruction was amazing! We got lots of riding time to practice. My dad and I selected some little GROMS for our bikes, but they had various types to choose from. The lot ground was irregular, however unless your riding on a track all the time, this is a real world public streets. Better to learn how to control bike in a training lot than after you pass and get out on your own. Debbie was amazing!!! And made the class fun and way less intimidating! As were they other instructors.... 10/10 recommend! I'll be sending all my current non riding friends here that get jealous after they see me riding by on my super cool sport bike, and want to ride.. I absolutely loved Awesome Cycles and highly recommend their basic cycle class. (I haven't taken their advanced class yet but I'm sure it's just as good) Debbie and Chris were a fantastic (dare I say AWESOME?) team. They have two scooters and various bike types to choose from. I have a scooter but I wanted to learn on a motorcycle so I could have both skills. Learning on the bike definitely helped my overall confidence and why not use this time (and money you paid) to learn that skill instead of only practicing on a scooter? Girls, I highly recommend using one of the cruisers if you have shorter legs like me. My advice is pay attention, ask as many questions as you need to, and don't be afraid of the bike. I took this same course back in late 2006 and had a great time and had no issues with Awesome Cycles or their instructors except that their fleet of motorcycles were old and in need of repair. Now fast forward 15 years to 2022..... They apparently have new instructors and the exact same bikes based on the awful experience my wife had during the January 15 & 16 class this year. I was so confident she and my friend would learn and have a great time and the classroom time was indeed very good. Debbie, the instructor, taught well in the classroom with no issues according to all. The huge problem came when it was time to get on the bikes. The course surface was irregular and not suitable for new riders with many patches (see photo), a big dip and there was loose gravel. Coupled with the course conditions and the selection of old motorcycles that were clearly in need of maintenance and repairs, the students literally had to run to the the "best" bike available so that they weren't stuck with the huge overly heavy ones. My wife was stuck with one of those bikes, a old Suzuki GW naked sport bike (see photo) that she couldn't even put her toes down. Kim (the assistant) said my wife needed another bike since she couldn't put her toes down and my wife too, said she didn't feel comfortable on that old Suzuki that was clearly too big and heavy for a brand new rider. However, Debbie, brushed off their concern and requests for another bike and literally had to hold on to the Suzuki and walk my wife (as a parent does with children learning to ride on a bicycle) down the course but when Debbie let go, my wife dropped the big bike on herself twice and the second time getting badly injured (see photos) since not being able to put her toes down when she lost her balance. After the big Suzuki stopped starting after the second big fall, Debbie allowed Kim to pull out the smaller Suzuki GZ cruiser that was lighter, lower and much easier to ride with controls in the front of the bike. This is the problem: All that time they had this alternative cruiser available but Debbie insisted my wife struggle with the harder to operate and stay balanced sport bike? Why?!?! Her spirit & confidence was already crushed along with her legs and feet so the next day she failed due to the enormous pain she suffered being literally crushed by the big old Suzuki sport bike crashing down on her. Another student even ran into her bike while getting back in line with Kim scolding him to be more careful and not immediately removing him from the rotation. Debbie offered her to come back to retake the class but it took almost three months for her to heal up and now they say all their spaces were full for the only weekend we have off of work - this is a blessing in disguise because my wife confided in me that she felt very uncomfortable working with Debbie again, even at no change, so we got her signed up at another school that uses a fleet of well maintained and easy to operate motorcycles that their students don't have to sprint to so they aren't stuck with lesser quality bikes that are too big and heavy for smaller first time riders. Here is what makes me feel incredibly bad about referring my wife and friend to Awesome Cycles - in the classroom, Debbie stressed the importance of choosing a motorcycle that fits your body type and gives you confidence, but she completely contradicted herself with her reckless teaching style. I 100% do not recommend this school anymore and will tell this to anyone looking to get themselves or their loved ones their motorcycle license, choose another school and don't take a chance on their safety and well being. I only stated facts that happened and in no ways am personally attacking Debbie, but what my friend and wife went through and witnessed, stay away from this school. read more

I got my M license 47 years ago! while I used to ride a lot then, the environment was more forgiving than today's! It made sense to check how my skills held up throughout the years, and to meet with other aspiring motorcyclists... Awesome Cycles tuition is provided by passionate people. They are there to help you fulfill the aspiration to become a rider. They are full of good advice, encouragements, and help you where they think it will help. Most of it, I found the two days going way too fast, I wished we had more. It was a lot of fun!!! The first day is divided between classroom and off circulation practice. The second and final day is ride practice followed by the final test. The motorbikes are 250cc in the vast majority, light and maneuverable. They also have some "forgiving" models, with smaller wheels or scooters. I think one of the best attribute I can think off with regards to the experience, is that they make you feel comfortable, even if you are the nervous kind. During my session, Jan 30th/Jan 31st, we had riders who had never used a mechanical gear box before, let alone a clutch actuated by hand... You should not hesitate! considering what you will get out of the course! read more

Took the BRC course Jan 2023. Instructors were Mike & Kim, class size was 12, experience level in the class was all beginners except one person who had been riding for a couple years. Time spent in classroom vs time spent on range was probably 5%/95% which is awesome. Allows for much more practice, and you are required to take an ecourse prior to day 1 which covers that classroom material. The course is very helpful and teaches extremely useful skills (at least in the eyes of this beginner). You will go through 14 exercises on the range which teach a variety of skills. The format of this is as follows: instructor explains exercise and answers questions, other instructor demonstrates exercise, riders run through repeatedly until instructors feel the class has a good understanding. They provide coaching and feedback on what you are doing well or could improve to perform better and sharpen your skills. On the second day when the exercises are finished, you do the skills evaluation to determine if you pass. After all the practice, teaching, and coaching, I believe this is very passable. 8/12 of our class passed (2 no showed the second day and 2 did not pass, so in all 8/10 who took the evaluation passed) If possible practicing on a friends dirt bike or bike to understand how shifting/clutch/throttle all work together would make the course a lot smoother/passable, however the way the course is done a true 100% beginner with no experience could learn/pass. read more

I normally don't leave one star reviews but I thought it was important to warn people considering this class. I came to this school after hearing my husband talk about his experience 15 years ago. I had been debating on whether to get my license or not and finally signed up for the mid January class this year. The actual class time was fine. My instructor Debbie walked us through the material we took the written test and got prepared for an afternoon of training. This is where things went wrong. As our class got prepared to choose from the bikes put out for us we were told to find one that might be similar to what we see ourselves on in the future. Everyone made a beeline for the bikes and grabbed one so I was literally left with the last empty bike which was huge and not at all what I would ride. I am 5'6 and about 125 pounds. I was stuck with a giant Suzuki GW that I could barely tip toe on. Kim, Debbie's assistant this class, immediately asked me if I felt comfortable and thought it didn't look appropriate for me. I agreed and Kim said something but Debbie dismissed her and me. I ended up falling twice and after the second time the bike wouldn't start and I was pretty seriously injured. This could have easily been avoided if Debbie would have allowed me to be on a smaller Cruiser style which turned out to be available inside the container on sight. Once I got on that bike, late the first afternoon, I was hurting so bad and asked for a few minutes to get familiar with a completely different style of bike. She said, "It's the same thing!" (Which it's not for a first time rider.) I was basically bullied into continuing that afternoon and returning the next morning or lose my payment. And that was the end of that. I failed miserably and was told to go home now, you need more practice and come back another time. I emailed her the same Sunday for clarification and it took 3 weeks to get a response. So I practiced and reached out to Debbie for this April's mid month class. She responded in 24 hours but told me the class was full when I know that according to their website the night before there were plenty seats available. AND, implied it was my fault for being hurt on the bike that was thrust upon me. I am merely trying to warn people that this is not the place for true beginners. They used old, and unsafe motorcycles and are wreckless and contradictory to the classroom curriculum of using equipment that is appropriate for the rider. Called them on the phone just to try out their 24 hour hotline and Debbie picked up. I told her that I was excited to get my motorcycle license and CHL and what I referred to as my "man-training". She lit up with indignation :) and proceeded to tell me she had her CHL and Class CM license. I tried to talk myself out of driving all the way up to Kuykendahl. I am so glad she told me to take the 3 day course. It was really fun to build the camaraderie between my fellow riders. I have to recommend them to everyone now! I was really impressed with my instructor Lionel and will never forget his sentiment for teaching to the student. I learned more than just how to ride a motorcycle over the course. If you can ride a bicycle- you should take this course.:. If everyone took this course the roads would be much safer. Now my awareness behind the wheel of a car has quadrupled! Hello. I'm JB. I once wrecked two motorcycles in the span of a week and followed up those crashes with a near miss on a scooter two weeks later. According to the stats quoted in the class, most motorcycle crashes and fatalities happen due to improper cornering based or lack of skill, too much speed and rider error. All were factors in both of my crashes. Clearly I needed to improve my riding skills. I chose Awesome Cycles as the instructors for my MSF Basic RiderCourse based on the testimonials on their site and was not disappointed. The classroom instructors (Debbie & David) were veteran riders with laid back demeanors and straight forward delivery styles. Take the three day course if you're considering completing the course now as you're not out on the parking lot in the hottest part of the day. In case you are wondering, I went out for a spin after class and avoided an accident thanks to my much improved cornering skills. I didn't panic when the oncoming car stopped in the apex of the turn. Me and my boyfriend attended this class 8/1-8/3. We went with absolutely no riding experience ever and left feeling more confident then ever. we learned so much and our instructors were so encouraging! after we finished the course we went to a high school parking lot on our own bike and were able to ride it with confidence. the things they teach you are also very good to know when driving in your car. i have always known to drive careful around motorcycles, but now i feel a better appreciation for the riders. i would deffinately recommend taking this course if you are new to riding or have been riding and dont feel that confident. we are going to take the advanced riders course in a few months after we ride around 3k miles and feel more at ease. whatever you do, dont go pay more money for a name brand class like harley, this class is so laid back and teaches you so much. read more

A "REAL" Review of Awesome Cycles First, I would like to thank Awesome Cycles for providing the opportunity to learning motorcycle riding to the general public. 1) Why does Awesome Cycles have such rave reviews - 5 stars. The reason is simple.....they are the people who passed the test and can now live their dream of driving a motorcycle. 2) Why does Awesome Cycles have several reviews that are 1 star? That reason is simple....these are the people who fail the course and are very upset at spending money on what they see as a waste. 3) Many people who rate it a 1 star had medical problems, had paid, and try to get their money back. The terms and conditions CLEARLY state no refunds. 4) I passed and this is not a 5 star review. The Basic Facts you should know.... a) 20 to 35 percent of the people FAIL the riding exam and do not achieve their goal. 30 percent of our class "almost" failed, which means that 1/3 of all of participants are good to go. Many people find the test very stressful. You could...in some instances.....do perfectly both days.....make a slight error on the final test and fail. That is a lost 300 bucks and couple of days. b) Some of the people who fail the riding exam at the end is because of their choice of motorcycle to their body type. Recommendation ***** If you are small.....specifically ask for a small bike. NOT ALL OF THE INSTRUCTORS HAVE SMALL BIKES AVAILABLE. DON'T ALLOW YOURSELF TO BE PUT INTO A CLASS THAT DOES NOT HAVE THE PROPER EQUIPMENT THAT YOU NEED. c) The average class size is 5 to 7 participants per range What to expect ...... 1) My class was 20 percent female 80 percent male. 2) Ages were 27, 33, 45, 55 and 65. 3) Some people were more stupid than a bag or rocks. The students in the class WILL LIMIT YOUR OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN. EXPECT IT. Facilities - Bikes 1) These are 250 cc motorcycles that weigh 400 pounds. These cycles are not sellable and have been beaten into a pulp and the only possible way to use these cycles is sell them for scrap or use them here. 2) Almost all have the turn signals removed or smashed off. Almost, if not all, have no mirrors as they have been removed or smashed off. Many cycles just "cut off" mid ride because their fuels systems need maintenance. 3) There are no "facilities". There is no "port a potty" for use. It is a parking lot at an abandoned mall. Anyone who states that the facilities rate a "5 star" is lying. 4) Water is provided....but see below!!! 5) Helmets are provided....but they are old....smelly and essentially trashed. Lastly....AND MOST IMPORTANTLY I am very concerned (and you should be too) as to the actual "Safety" involved with this course. For all they preach.....they treat their customers like a piece of meat. How do you say? While they stress skills and safety on a motorcycle.....they ignore reality of significant safety risks in order to make max money. Heat conditions, exposure and working in hot conditions are very dangerous. You should realize that I took my classes in August....in Texas.....in 95 plus degree heat. Humidity was over 90 percent. Looking as simple charts for people who do light or medium level activity in such conditions have a maximum exposure time of about 20 to 30 minutes of exposure....with a 45 minute cool down. PARTICIPANTS ARE RIDING HOT MOTORCYCLES...IN AN OPEN PARKING LOT...WITH NO COVER FOR AN AVERAGE OF OVER 1 HOUR PER SESSION....SOMETIMES LONGER (UP TO 2 HOURS!) HOW IS THIS ALLOWED? Even their "contractor" teachers should not be working in such conditions. To make matters worse....the instructors have a digital stop watch to measure the minimum amount of time for each exercise. Why? To keep things moving. They have a schedule and can't spend too much time on one exercise, participants be damned. THEY HAVE TO GET THROUGH THE COURSE. If your class slows up....YOU SPEND MORE TIME IN THE HEAT TO CATCH UP IF THINGS GET DELAYED. If you are in a class with someone who needs extra help......you get exposed even more. Even if you start at 7 am...class lasts to 1:30 pm. YOU WILL BE IN HIGH HEAT and there is nothing you can do about it. Their attention to safety is very poor. You think you are "tough" and can handle it? You should not have to. You are paying for this. We had LIGHTNING.....tough crap. You are standing in the middle of a parking lot like a lightening rod. Class goes on. Safety? HAH! Do they have water? Sure. Do you actually get a break to drink it? Not at proper intervals. Bring your own water? So what!! No break.....you can't drink it. And don't forget....no bathroom for you women. You now know the truth........ read more

Just as the name says, these guys are AWESOME! Needed to complete basic rider safety training and was really concerned that the experience (or lack of) would be met with condescension. Man was I wrong! These guys were patient, supportive and made learning fun! Even making mistakes was fun. These guys use their experience and find ways to ensure each participant grasped the concepts, then demonstrated and walked us through. By the time we were performing the evaluations, we all felt comfortable with each task. At no point did I ever feel unsafe or belittled. I just finished the BRC and I learned so much. I loved the idea of owning a motorcycle but this class solidified the desire I have to be a rider. My instructors Lionel and Chris were amazing. The delivery of how they taught the information was in a fun down to earth but serious way. When they say rain or shine we ride they are serious. It rained for our entire 3rd day except for the test. Bad experience. Unethical place. I booked a class and showed up on time.AC did not put me on their list by mistake (I showed them my confirmation email) and when a girl (on the list) showed up late at 9:15 for the 9:00 class they let her in and kicked me out. I paid the $200 and arrived early since they stress so much punctuality, but apparently they do not follow their rules. The instructor in the room acted dumb, 0 communication, he called his manager but would not let me talk to him/her and told me to call the # on the website tomorrow after 10am. He encouraged us to leave or I would have had to call security...REALLY?!?!? My weekend just got screwed! This is full weekend course that you HAVE to take to get your M Endorsement, do you know how hard it is to find a full weekend free (without wife complaining because you are gone both days...)? I guess they are AWESOME until a problem pops up and they just do not give a damn about you. Go somewhere else, don't trust these guys. read more

I had such a great time with Sam the Instructor. It was very informative and fun! It was really more of an excuse to get on a bike and ride around with supervision, only at the end of the program you get to be a licensed Motorcycle rider! If I can give some advice, it would be the following: -Follow The Website's Directions! There were still people saying that they waited at the actual driving range for the 1st day of class when the website clearly says to go to the classroom FIRST! Remember, late people pretty much just donated $200+ dollars for nothing....here's why -BE ON TIME You will be turned away if you are late. State law mandates if you are late for the program, you must be turned away. Don't forget about the disclaimer when you signed on the program saying that there are no refunds, no rescheduling! meaning if you are late, that's instant $$$ down the drain -Bring a Cooler large enough to be a chair. I myself brought a rolling cooler so I had a small setup. Cooler as my chair and cooling container for my drinks (which in Summer is VERY important) and then used the retractable handle as a place to hang my Helmet and backpack. My classmates didnt bring a chair so they were just standing around during break and the Instructor will let you put stuff in his cooler (youre SOL if theres alot of people). -Wear a light long sleeve shirt If your class is in summer, don't underestimate the heat. You will be in the range for HOURS in the heat sitting on hot engines and you dont need a thick long sleeve to add onto the already hot day. Good luck and have fun! read more

General info: I attended their Basic Rider Course this past weekend with instructors Louie and Mike. The classroom section with 18 people was broken into two "range" sections: one with Louie of six people and the remaining people with Mike and a second instructor. We spent about 3 hours in the classroom each morning before going to lunch and spent the rest of the day from 12-6 on the range. Classroom section: The facilities are relatively easy to find with directions from their website. Facilities include everything you need (bathrooms clean, coffee, and snacks and drinks for purchase on the honor system - bring a few bucks cash). The teaching style was informative and direct with demonstrated fun and enthusiasm about the subject. Both instructors are highly skilled riders and very willing to share their experiences and expertise. Range section: When we got back from lunch, bikes were set up on the range. We picked up out helmets and after a quick safety speech were sitting on the bikes learning the basics. I was amazed how fast we learned. I had no riding experience before the course (besides a bicycle when I was a kid). Everyone learned extremely fast. Louie explained and then demonstrated each exercise before we got on the bikes. He fielded questions with great knowledge and an easy way of explaining the material. Bottom Line: The following day I went the DPS, got my motorcycle license and feel completely confident that I have a fantastic foundation to ride any bike. The rates are pretty reasonable, don't get me wrong but my husband paid for a class and the next week, the morning of the class, he became ill as to where he could not move. I could not predict he was going to be sick for the next following weeks. However, I called Awesome Cycles and asked if I could reschedule him for another session being that he had already paid and she said NO; if I would have called the day before, she could have gave his spot to someone else. I will never sign up for this program with this company again....$215 just wasted!!!! And I didn't even ask for a refund, I just asked to sign up for a different date! read more

This place is amazing! The staff is great and everything is very professional. I have never road a bike before and was unable to drive a manual car. I came out of there with a 100% on my written test and only missed one thing on my riding test. The instructors are there to help you, they are very patient and very kind. I went Saturday and Sunday and was taught by David and Chris. Like I mentioned before they are amazing instructors and will help you. They are great people in general. Did a really good job of teaching the basics. I feel very comfortable on my bike because of the things I learned in this class. Only complaint is the parking lot where we practiced had a little gravel that scared me and the mini cones were a little add to see. Maybe if they were a brighter color than light green it wouldn't be an issue. Try some obnoxious purple or something that really stands out. Great place and a lot of fun. Highly recommend this place! My friend and I decided to take a 2 day course together this past weekend. We started off with pretty much no riding experience (aside from being a passenger) and left with new found knowledge on how to ride a motorcycle confidently AND safely. The other 10 people in our course ranged from experienced riders to newbies just like us. Our instructors Charlie and David were very informative/encouraging and made the course fun and enjoyable!
