Recently moved from California to Houston and needed to have a Texas Driver's License for a public sector requirement. This meant I needed to take a road test, as an adult with 24 yrs of driving experience, 8 yrs of military and federal "motor vehicle operator's" ID, and no Class C road test appointments available for over 2 weeks at DPS. I immediately took a look on yelp, calling the Top 3 based on most reviewed in my area. Tony of Road Ready Driving School was the only licensed third-party testing center that answered. The Road Test @ Road Ready was fairly priced and time slots were available during the week. I was nervous, but competently confident. Tony was a genuine professional, and provided excellent feedback and answers to any question I had. At the end of the Road Test, he asked me about decisions I made while driving a vehicle I'm unfamiliar with and choices I made regarding why I considered not turning right on a red when I was allowed to do so. I saw he respected the logic that if you cannot see far enough down the lane you're turning into to gauge the safety of committing to the change of vehicle position, then it's best to, in my words, "hold what you've got, and commit when it is safe to do so." When my children are ready for official non-parental driving lessons, Tony is the only person I'm gladly calling because I know they will not only learn a thing or two, but also gain the confidence in the decisions they make and the reason behind their choices. I had no driving experience prior to starting my lessons with Road Ready Driving school. Literally had never turned on a car. KC, Larry and Tony gave me lessons over the course of 9 months to prepare me with basic skills and help grow my confidence on the road. We started with no gas in a parking lot and slowly progressed to road driving. I found each of the instructors to be patient, courteous and knowledgeable. Lessons were always easy to schedule and Amanda at the front desk was helpful when any changes needed to be made. Prior to taking the test, Tony helped me perfect my parallel parking skills and took me on the test route multiple times to help me feel at ease. He also gave me encouragement day of the test to calm the nerves. I passed on my first try! Overall, I could not recommend this school more and will forever be grateful to them for helping me reach this milestone. read more

From start to finish this was a disaster. I signed up to take the written test and did pass, but the instructor was rude and belittled the people in the room all day. Also, the school simply teaches you the twenty things that are on the test, so you pass but have very little knowledge of the rules of the road in Texas. I then paid for beginners lessons and a block of driving lessons. The beginner lesson round a cinema carpark was fine, but I cannot agree with other reviewers on here about Tony as an instructor. He was brusque and got annoyed when I couldn't do complicated parking manoeuvres after 2 lessons. He made me feel very insecure, telling me repeatedly that I was going to need 'a lot of lessons' and telling me it would have been easier if I had passed when I was a teenager. I have moved to a different school/instructor. I suggest you do the same. read more

So happy to came across here for my driving classes. Tony is a great instructor, friendly, and very informative. He boosted my confidence and taught me to be a defensive driver. Easy to book for appointment. Cars are well kept and maintained. He has a disinfectant for the car and instructors uses face shield and mask while doing the behind the wheel lessons all the time. lengthy review but hopefully this helps someone! i liked my experience with tony, he was my instructor for 5/6 of my lessons and i had no prior driving experience before coming here but i learned a lot from him. he was friendly and engaged in conversation while i drove which eased some of my anxiety making me feel more comfortable on the road as i wasn't overthinking what i was doing. he can be a bit discouraging though when you make a mistake or aren't making quick progress especially if you're a slow learner and need constant positive reinforcement like me, but he did give praise for skills i was improving at each lesson. i'd say his teaching style is more of a do what you think you should be doing, but if you're doing it "wrong" he'll definitely let you know in an aggravated way kind of deal. i believe my last instructor was one they newly hired and his name was yusef(?). i very much disliked my experience with him to be quite honest. my turns were improving according to tony, but according to yusef they were "really bad" and was told i was "going to need more lessons" as whoever taught me before "didn't know what they were doing." he would also GRAB THE WHEEL if i wasn't doing something to his liking and even berated me for turning my head to check my blind spots as apparently it was a "waste of time" since i "should ONLY be looking at my mirrors" and "whoever taught me to do that shouldn't have." at one point during the lesson i literally had to get ahold of the wheel back and firmly told him to just let me drive! felt like my practice time and money were wasted with him. will probably still take my driving test with them anyway but i just hope i get the instructor i am familiar with read more

Fast and friendly i had to take only the road test. I moved from another state and my license expired. Booked it and paid online then called to confirm date and within 48 hours they had had me scheduled and taking the road test. Instructor was on time and friendly. This school doesn't keep a record for the previous year, so you cannot prove your left hours. Also, their website hasn't kept information of taken lessons. Be careful with them and keep a record of your lessons and the name of your teacher (with his/her signature). read more

I had already made up my mind to sign up for the driving lesson here after seeing the review but when I actually called to ask questions and arrange for the lesson, I felt very uncomfortable when I was pressured by Tony to make the payment immediately when I had clearly told him I want to first check my schedule and will respond by email. I can not imagine to be behind the wheel with him, when driving lesson is all about trust with instructor. read more
