I got straight off the plane and went to awesome coffee. It was exactly what I needed after a long and tiring flight. Starting strong with the chill and relaxing ambience. I ordered the cold brew with lemon. It was DELICIOUS!! Did some work by the window for a couple of hours and topped off my visit with a butter crossiant and bagel with cream cheese. The cream cheese was the highlight! Zora was the sweetest and service was efficient and welcoming. I plan to make awesome coffee part of my morning routine while I'm in town. read more

AWESOME COFFEE is conveniently located to our work location. There are metered street parking available in the surrounding streets. Came both during a weekday and a weekend and on both occasions, this coffee shop is open and well-occupied. The space is large with a lot of indoor and outdoor eating areas. They are also very study/work friendly. Considering they have a lot of "sweet" dessert drinks on their menu, I was a bit leary of their espresso drinks... But my doubts were for nothing! Their CORTADO is legitimately strong, creamy, delicious and not too sour. Both times I ordered it. Their LATTE is strong and not milky. Their OREO MATCHA is surprisingly good. I'm not sure how the matcha flavor was still noticeable when the oreo was generous, but it was. The staff are friendly and patient. read more

Since Awesome coffee opened, I've had to stop myself from visiting everyday! This local coffee shop is exactly what South Park Social District needed. 4/5 stars because their prices are a bit higher than others in the area to be coming daily but it's well worth it for a treat yourself moment. Aeda and Zurri are my absolute favorite baristas, so sweet and always have a smile on their face! My go to here is a hot Dirty Chai Latte, it's the perfect mood booster and they have managed to somehow make it extra delicious! The atmosphere takes this place next level. So many spots to setup laptop (they have WiFi) read, have conversations both inside and outside. It has an intimate SoHo vibe that we can enjoy for free, well almost ;) I look forward to many more peaceful coffee moments at awesome as a local resident! read more

Updating my review. On first visit I gave this place one star due to overpriced coffee. For some reason on visits back the coffee cost less (my employer paid for cup that time). I have since returned as ambiance lovely and reminds me of NYC. Also the price of decaf americano with half and half only $7 and some change now. Like the other 1-star review recently posted, I had high hopes for this place. I've been a South Park resident for 5 years and the only thing missing from this cozy little pocket -- that's IMHO the best and nicest part -- of DTLA was a solid coffee spot. Major red flag upon walking in was the line up on Torani syrups behind the counter. I should have turned around and left, but decided to give it a try anyway. I ordered an espresso tonic and was shocked when the barista told me my total was almost $10. WHAT. I will let the photos I post speak for themselves because anyone who knows what a decent espresso tonic is supposed to taste and look like knows this wasn't it. Walked back home with major buyer's remorse -- set my drink down on my table, and never touched it again until I finally got myself to throw it out a few hours later. There appears to have been a major investment made in the aesthetic of the shop, but a significant lack of R&D on the coffee menu. I also got weird and non-awesome vibes from the person who was possibly the owner. Baristas seemed stressed from him breathing down their necks, but also appeared to be inexperienced. read more

Soft Opening on 12/07/2025. Great ambiance liked the music, friendly staff. Aesthetically pleasing a nice place to grab food with someone or by yourself. My husband and I had been looking forward to trying out this place ever since the signage was placed. Finally today it opened. Although I was really looking forward to trying the waffles what I ended up getting was really good. My husband got a bagel with cream cheese and the seasoning was really good. I got a Chicken Bowl it was different but would actually order it again. For drinking we got Hot chocolate it was warm and sweet. I will be returning to try out the Fruit waffle another day this week. I recommend this place to anyone nearby. Not sure about parking but will ask and update review later for anyone traveling from far away. Please note if you go this week before grand opening we were told not fully stocked just yet but the things they do have are great. No complaints. The Latina girl who took my order today seemed completely clueless (she gave me that Gen-Z stare), and when asked what she would recommend, she wasn't helpful.. she couldn't care less lol. Also she didn't inform me that there'd be an up-charge for alt milk. I paid $11+ for a tiny portion of Strawberry-Matcha latte that barely had any strawberry in it, and it tasted artificial. Both the service and flavor were lacking today. On my previous visit, I ordered an Espresso Tonic which was decent, and the man who took my order was very nice and welcoming, and gave me suggestions when I mentioned a flavor I wanted to add. Maybe the service is hit or miss depending on the day--but my experience today left a bad taste in my mouth, and I don't plan to waste my money here again. Working at a hotel, we get tons of inquiries about good spots to visit in the area; Sadly, this won't be on my list for any café recommendations. If you're in DTLA - go to Loose Leaf Boba instead. Their Strawberry-Matcha tastes solid, they use quality ingredients, you get a bigger portion, and it still costs less than Awesome Coffee's prices. Just more bang for your buck. Their Vietnamese Coffee is amazing, too. There's much better cafés or boba spots in the area. Even Starbucks is a better option on that same block! read more

We were really excited for this location to open up across the street from our place. The location is prime, the ambience is nice as well, but the coffee is lackluster at best. I've tried two different drinks: Vietnamese coffee (my favorite elsewhere) and a Mocha latte. I think the Vietnamese coffee was close to $9 -- I was asked what type of milk (Vietnamese coffee shouldn't be given the choice - should be condensed) and by instinct asked for whole, which came with an extra charge. The mocha was also very syrup forward and lacked a strong espresso flavor. All in all, I think I will continue buying my beans from other coffee shops in the area & utilizing my espresso machine at home. Please do more r&d on your offerings and bring a more worthwhile experience to our pocket! read more

I wouldn't even give this place a single star. This was, without exaggeration, one of the most incompetent and unpleasant customer service experiences I've ever had. On May 2, 2026, around 9:30 AM, I interacted with one of the three employees working, and she failed at even the most basic level of service. She is the main reason I'm writing this review. I ordered three drinks, nothing complicated, yet the entire process turned into a confusing and frustrating ordeal. I asked for a flat white with triple espresso, and she had no idea what that meant. I had to spell it out "three shots" and even then, she looked at me with a blank, confused expression. Ordering a hot cafe latte was no better. I was met with silence and confusion again until I slowly repeated, "hot latte with whole milk." We also ordered an iced Vietnamese coffee, which she seemed to at least understand this drink. When the drinks came out, a different employee handed us FOUR drinks instead of three. None of the hot drinks were labeled, and everything was completely mixed up. As I tried to figure out what was what, she handed me a random iced cup with no ice. When I questioned it, she didn't apologize or clarify anything. Instead, she walked over to the cashier, and the two of them stood there talking among themselves in front of the espresso machine while I waited. The cashier then came back and insisted that I had ordered an extra flat white which made no sense. The drink she was pointing to wasn't even a flat white, and it was in an iced cup, not even a hot one? What? Instead of taking any responsibility, she argued with me and insisted I was wrong. When I asked for a refund for the extra drink, she refused, saying she "wasn't the owner," as if that excuses not correcting a clear mistake. There was zero accountability and absolutely no attempt to make things right. This place seriously needs to reevaluate who they hire and how they train their staff. The entire experience wasn't just frustrating it was embarrassing. To make it worse, the coffee itself was terrible. There was no real espresso flavor, everything tasted unbalanced, and the milk was over-steamed to the point of ruining the drinks. I ended up throwing it away right in front of the shop. Avoid this place if you value your time, money, and patience. read more

Me and my dad come here every morning and grab our morning coffees. We absolutely love the tatse of the coffee hot or iced and even the tea. We love the mugs they serve them in and like to sit and enjoy our morning. The workers here are so polite and sweet they know us and always get our orders on time and with pleasure.
