This afternoon, I stopped by Cafe Dulce while I was out for a walk. I've been to their Little Tokyo location before, but I didn't even realize they had a spot here, but just while I was out for a walk and just happened to stop by. The café was small and cute. I always forget about Dulce Cinco until I happen to pass by after a rare trip to Santee Alley. Since I live closer to the Little Tokyo location, this one tends to slip my mind. I used to frequent the USC shop when I lived nearby, and I've visited the one at The Row several times too. This location feels much more mellow compared to their busier spots, but the service and quality are just as consistent. The pastries likely come from one of the larger locations, so they can run out, like they did today. They had Halloween decor today, which is great since Haunted Little Tokyo is tonight. Dulce does a lot for the community, especially the Little Tokyo community, and that's one of the visible events I tend to go to. read more

Both the Vietnamese iced coffee and the blueberry matcha were on the sweet side. The blueberry doesn't hit you in the face and goes nicely with the matcha. The Vietnamese iced coffee wasn't as strong as I expected (from the general 626 area) and super foamy on the top so really you only get like 3/4 cup of liquids. read more

We got there just as they opened. The music was already blasting, which was a bit surprising at 9 AM. Thankfully we were able to get two of the seats though because the space filled up quickly once the doors were opened. The barista seemed to get a bit overwhelmed. Thankfully our coffee came out fairly quickly but the food took a bit longer. The burrito was SO good! I am a harsh judge of breakfast burritos but this one had tons of flavor, the potatoes were well seasoned, there was enough cheese without being overwhelming, and the salsa was a nice addition. The strawberry donut had entire slices of berry in the jam layer! The mochi ball had an interesting texture. I liked the crunchiness of the outer layer and the tender chewiness of the inside. I didn't get much cinnamon flavor though which I would expect from something called churro. I would be interested to try the other ones - especially the green ones made with spirulina. And I also want to try some of the other buns. The coffee was good. Though it's hard to judge accurately since Vietnamese coffee has so much sugar and cream in it, almost any coffee is going to taste great. read more

A CAFE DULCE in the midst of LA's Fashion District, and it is awesome. During our visit, there were some people inside but there was no line to order. Our drink was very quickly made and we barely had to wait to get our drink. There is no outdoor seating and there is a small indoor bar seating area. Close by to The Fashion District/Santee Alley amongst other main spots like California Market Center. We wanted an afternoon pick me up but didn't care for the typical lattes. So we came here for their Vietnamese Iced Coffee only. Drink was delicious...flavorful and strong. Comes in one size only...think it's a 16 oz. Knocked off one star because of the difficulty in finding parking. I know it's not Cafe Dulce's fault but it takes away from the experience. Street parking only and ONLY if you're lucky, you can conveniently park in front. Otherwise, you may be driving around multiple blocks trying to find metered parking. So FYI on that. We were here on a Saturday afternoon around 1:30p ish. Lucked out and found parking around the corner. Also, there's only a few seats here so this isn't really your typical "meet up chill" coffee shop. This is more of a grab n go. read more

Came here after seeing someone eat a delicious looking kale salad. I had actually come here twice before for coffee and a pastry. Who knew the salads were so good? My coworker and I decided to share the kale sale and the spicy chicken sandwich. We got there a little after 9am because the salads go fast. I saw the fruity pebble donuts that have always tempted me, but tried to resist. The girls helping us was nice enough to give us that donut plus a coco pebble one! Fav!!! I love going to their Little Tokyo and USC locations!!! I was so happy to find out that they just opened in the Fashion District with their full food menu! Asian Chicken Salad or the Tuna Melt for the win!!! You can ask them to warm up any of their sandwiches or pastries in their toaster oven, in fact I strongly recommend it! This spot is closer in size to the Little Tokyo location but they have seating indoors, outdoors and the lobby of this recently renovated 210 E Olympic building has generous seating for WFM folks. It's around the corner from CMC and most of the upper floors are fashion folks so the vibe inside is very chill. Around the corner is Santee Alley so loads of bargain shopping and obviously there's also the fabric shops in the fashion district close by as well. I had a couple errands to run in the fashion district. Unfortunately, I arrived too early and the businesses I needed to visit were closed. GREAT NEWS was that it gave me some time to kill. I walked by the location on my way to another place and it caught my attention. When I realized I had time to kill, I looped back. The Vietnamese iced coffee was delicious.
