It's been 3 months since I had AWAKE TV repair my television. I own a Sony KV-34XBR800, which weighs in at 225 pounds (on a good day)! My TV status light started to blink indicating a 4-blink and a 6-blink. My television would turn on (in the sense that you can hear it click on, but no picture), give me the status blinks, and then it would turn off. I started to research the dilemma on the Internet and discovered that my TV was very...very sick. I began to panic with the idea of either replacing the TV or having to somehow move it downstairs and into my truck to get it to a repair center. What a relief to find Peter at Awake TV! :) I called and the owner, Peter, answered me right away. I explained to him my situation and my model # (this is important). Peter was able to immediately schedule me in (that day) for an appointment to repair my TV at my home!!! What?!?!?!? At my home??? Awesome!!! Even better...he scheduled me at 7:30 PM, which was great for me. Peter called me to tell me that he was running late and that he would be at my place at 8:00 PM. Ok...that was alright with me, but poor Peter...what a long day! Peter came by and he checked out my status lights and he removed the back cover of my TV. Several clumps of dust fell out, and I was so embarrassed over my housekeeping skills...I had to look away. Peter laughed and said that the dust is pretty much typical for all TVs even in the cleanest places. Oh good...I felt better! lol He tested some components on the motherboard and he recommended that I replace the entire motherboard and power coupling. Oh my...that sounds expensive! Actually, when he told me how much it was, it was cheaper than buying a new TV and I got two new parts that should give me another 100,000 miles on my TV!!! lol The range of cost was between $200 - $350. Even better...Peter had the parts - so my repair was immediate on the spot. What I appreciated the most was that Peter gave me "an honest repair." It wasn't frivolous and he told me that if the repair would out way the cost of a new TV, he would tell me. Thankfully, in my case, the repair justified the cost. With the replacement of my old parts with new ones, my TV came back to life. Peter tested the system and re-calibrated my TV by degaussing (eliminating unwanted magnetic fields) it, and voila...I was happy!!! :) The repair time was about 1 hour including the diagnostic exam. The reason why I waited 3 months to write this commendation to Peter was to allow YOU, the reader, a chance to see that his repair work is genuine and worthy of your time and money. Like yourself, I was a little skeptical of: (1) having someone come over to my home to repair my TV, and (2) if the work was of high-quality, reliable, and reputable. WOW this guy Peter went above and beyond the call of duty. I called around noon and he informed me he would be at my house at 6 pm that evening. I didnt really believe him but made an appt anyway. Sure enough he showed up at 6 23 on the same day and with a courtesy call. Very pleasant nd very knowledgeable he did not try to make me overpay at all . As a matter of fact he tried to save me money and offered to give me a surround sound amplifier to use until mine was repaired. WHo does this now days.+++ He took the faulty equipment home fixed it and told me it wasnt worth 10 bucks even though it was new in box. lesson here kids is dont buy electronics from 2 guys driving around in a van,,,,,,just saying... LOng story short johnny is a stud, He was truthful did not try to gouge me even though he could and sold me a harman kardon surround sound amp and installed it up for much less than I expected. If you need a lesson in customer service and quality call this guy. I hope I dont have to use him again but if I am forced to he is my first call. Peter gave new life to our 32" Panasonic conventional TV. The set's less than 10 years old and the picture was occasionally collapsing to a single bright line and there was bowing on the left and right sides when it worked, too. He set our expectations realistically, explaining that he believed that he could fix the collapsing picture issue, but it might not be worth the $ to fix the bowing issue. We decided to do the repair, he removed the TV to his shop, and three days later brought it back with *both problems fixed* for the original est. price. One very happy customer here :-) read more

Our 51" wouldn't turn on yesterday and my husband had a nervous breakdown. We called the manufacturer and they wanted $90 just to diagnose the problem, and they couldn't promise when a technician would be sent to us. Our Panasonic 65inch TV started getting squiggly lines making it hard to see. Granted, it was bought in 2002 so we have had it for a good while, but we are not in the market to buy another one, so in reading through Yelp, I decide to give Peter a try. Just had Peter do a small but tricky repair to an old multi-standard VCR. Dropped the unit at his shop, he said he'd need a week to look at it, he called me in 6 days and we agreed to proceed and he fixed it in one more week. Picked up the unit and very happy with it. Peter is one of the most honest and best independent TV repairmen that I have done business with. An estimate fee is charged (around $30.00) but can be credited toward any repairs should you choose to go forward with them. He has repaired an Olevia 42" LCD HDTV for me a few years ago and the cost of repairs is fair as he breaks down the cost of parts and labor. Quality of work is outstanding (TV still works great if not better than new). I went back to Peter with a second 37" LCD HDTV and this time it was not worth it to pay for repairs. He gave me multiple quotes from parts via different sources and the costs of parts (not labor) was still prohibitive. Peter took care of recycling the television for me. After a several months of lame troubleshooting of my 3 year old Sony XBR55 power-on problem, I finally decided to get a professional. After reviewing Yelp reviews, I called Awake TV on Monday at 9:30 am to set up an appointment. Peter arrived promptly as scheduled at 2:00 pm to troubleshoot my system. My TV was fixed by Peter replacing a board, but 6 months later it's broken. Peter says it passed warranty. He blamed the board from Samsung and said he is able to find an upgraded board this time. Monitor Fixed: Dell U3014t 30 inch 4MP (2560 x 1600) My monitor was damaged in shipping (did not power on) and the mainboard needed to be replaced. Don't bother going anywhere else trying to get a TV fixed. I went to Fry's (where I bought my TV), Best Buy, and neither would help me. Screw those guys. I found Awake TV on Yelp, and I couldn't be happier with the results. Peter fixed my 32" 1080p Samsung TV for $160 plus a $30 diagnosis fee. I saw all the great reviews for Mr. Moon and decided that, that many people can't be wrong and gave him a call. I have a Mitsubishi DLP and it was displaying a message that the air flow was blocked and tv was going to shut down and then the tv would in fact shut down. After explaining this problem to him, he referred me to mitsubishi's 1-800 number because they were extending their warranties for this problem because it was a faulty sensor. It's hard to find honest people these days so please give him your business. In my case, he could have easily have come out and fixed the tv and charged me for it but instead he showed me the way to get Mitsubishi to pay for it. Unfortunately they didn't use Mr. Moon to fix it so he didn't even get paid for this but anytime I need repairs I will be calling Mr. Moon again! read more

Peter is awesome. What a very nice business owner. My Mitsubishi DLP died on my birthday of all days. I called Awake the next week and Peter was able to come out the next day. He was very polite and really knowledgeable. He also told me that the "air flow" message that had been plaguing me for a couple of years was still covered under warrantee. He suggested that while we waited for lamp replacement to come in that I get authorization from Mitsubishi to fix that as well. I was excited to find out the air flow issue was still being covered. This guy is really good. We have a projection Toshiba HD tv, and it had a speaker out and the hd channels weren't aligned correctly. Peter came by, took out the "brain" and within a few days, the sound issue was solved. Peter also reinforced the electrical panel (I don't know the technical lingo) for free, just to ensure that nothing would short out again. He patiently adjusted my screen until it was perfect. We have a Mitsubishi 55 inch TV. The screen was showing red and green lines and no blue. Called AwakeTV and Peter came out that evening. Peter looked at the TV and came back the next day, same time. I got a hand me down large screen Sony TV that the color had gone funny on. Had to get my brother to carry that huge thing in his truck. $500 later it looked good. He went away on service for 6 months and when he came back he commented that the color was funny again.
