Called another shop who referred me to Short Circuit. These guys are very helpful and knowledgeable...you can tell right off the bat. As I suffered thru the various symptoms which was crackling, no sound at all, couldn't use hands free..., but when I couldn't get the touchscreen to respond in certain spots, I narrowed it to probably be the ACU (audio control unit). We took it out of the dash itself to save the labor on that. Took it in and in a week I had it back. Year warranty. These guys know what they're doing as they've done it for 25+ yrs. They repair the 'guts' inside and they diagnose before they charge. And the replace is much more costly and involves reprograming by Ford. Where this unit sits, it's unlikely that something happened. It's age. So if you're approaching the 10 year mark and you start to have sound issues, remember these guys. Great knowledge and service (shout out to Mark) matter. It's NOT located in a retail strip mall type area. So when you map it, don't get thrown by that.

Samsung was very patient and walked me through the steps many times giving enough time, i.e. enough seconds, increasing the seconds before going to the next steps. After very long time ( I could find out the exact time for "Factory Reset" over the chat session.) Finally, he gave the address to go and get factory reset done. I gave 3 stars, because it is costly and my phone was under Samsung warranty. But I was told that "factory reset' is not under warranty, which does not make any sense to me. The receptionist recommended becoming a member with an option of cancelling the membership. My phone was "Factory reset. 2) I went again and asked for another software repair which needed more fee. I wanted to try it on my own before paying and brought the phone with me. Yes. It is costly. This is the first time that I went to a shop to repair a device. I have few more devices, which require additional tools which I do not have and do not want to shop around to purchase to repair them. I am waiting for 30 more days to take my devices to the shop to ask them to repair. I will update about the repair and cost once it is done.

This requires a lot of work, and this is ot a non-profit shop. I brought in several old Mcintosh vintage pieces. They needed a lot of work. One ended up costing a lot more to repair than what was estimated. They stuck to the estimate and asked if I would not mind at least paying for the additional parts needed. They basically lost money restoring an MP1-4 (look it up it is rare). they did it as a labor of love. They told me few were made and only a couple had ever come through the shop. They restored a pre-amp, tuner and power amp as well as the MP1. John explained what could and should not be done to bring these back to pristine condition. This is an honest good shop with techs who love working on vintage gear. I have to check if they are back up and running after the fire. I hope so!
