The tech went to inspect my broke lg tv that has a faulty mother board and charge me $45 for inspection and said he would let me know if parts would be available for this tv but it's been over a month and still no word from this guy. Now my tv it's just sitting on garage. read more

I usually reserve my one star reviews for places that not only have disappointing products, but dishonest service as well. This place is just that. The only problem I had was that my three year old TV would not power on after turning it off overnight. The light on the TV would glow, so power seemed to be getting to the TV, just the screen would not flip on. Initially, Cho the owner/operator estimated that he could fix it overnight, and he did. He charged me 150 for labor, and since it would have cost about ten times that to replace my TV, I thought it was fair. I brought it home, plugged it in, and it worked. The next morning, the same problem resurfaced. I brought it back and Cho said he would fix it within a week. 57 days later, he was still waiting for parts. Okay, I won't go into why it took them two months to get my TV repaired, well, 58 days. They said that they don't control shipping, yadayada. But they didn't even fix it! He bandaged up the problem, and returned it to me broken a second time. Cho said that he replaced the PC board, the power supply board and a few other parts worth over 300 dollars, in addition to fixing some solder joints. It sounded like a lot for a simple problem as I later found out when I brought the TV to another shop. The biggest problem was, the parts were not even replaced! When another technician opened up the box, we saw that the power supply board had as much dust as all the other parts, with the exception of a few fingerprints on the connections. Really??? We did spot an overstressed solder joint, and fixing that seemed to fix the problem temporarily as Cho did. The labor for fixing the solder joint was only 75 dollars, or half of what K pro charged me, and they said that it would cost 220 to replace the power board, which I declined because I decided to just buy a new TV. If this was the end of my story, it still wouldn't have warranted only one star. I would have given maybe two stars for I don't know, that asian connection? Anyway- Cho proceeded to attempt to sell me one of his "repaired" TVs. Apparently, dozens of people come here to get an estimate on TV repairs and decide to leave their units here if the estimate is higher than what they are willing to pay. Cho then has the right to "dispose" of your property, as the invoice states, as he sees fit "on his own expense." He tried to sell me a plasma TV, model number TC-50PX34. He says that he will charge me "cost," which was only $575, and tried to tell me that this is a 2011 model that retails for 1100+. Thank God for mobile internet because we looked it up, and this TV sells for as low as 230$ used, or 499 brand new. Seriously folks, I could not make this stuff up if I tried. He REALLY tried to sell me a used TV for more than it would have cost me BRAND NEW. I urge anybody who reads this and insists on using them, to seriously consider taking your TV back even if the estimate is higher than you expect and bring it to another shop for a second opinion. I don't want to name a competitor, in fear of having my review flagged as advertisement, but there is a variety of honest businesses out there that deserve you as a customer. read more

A few years back, my Sony Wega went on the fritz. I located K Pro and the owner came out and did a fast, in home, efficient fix of the TV.. I don't remember the problem, but I DID remember the great service! so much, that I kept their business card in the fold of my checkbook. Fast forward YEARS and the same Sony all of a sudden, just stopped working. I shopped around for a home repair visit; called one place in Oakland and they arrived 90 minutes late, promised that they could fix the Sony on the spot, but instead said that they'd have to take the TV to their shop, look for the broken piece, and couldn't give any guarantee on a return time. Out the door they went, without my tv......and without any payment for the crappy service! The next day I dug out that business card, called K Pro, explained the problem. the owner was able to give me an appointment that afternoon, and called to confirm as the time drew closer! 30 minutes later, I was given a prompt, professional assessment (complete with a drawing to help me understand!) of how my TV had finally bit the dust and the broken circuit board was no longer produced, that it wasn't worth fixing b/c if the circuit board had to be replaced, all the little pieces had to go as well and that there was no guarantee that we'd even be able to find the parts or guarantee that they worked. here's the best part- I got great advice on replacement models and places to shop! I bought a Samgung smart TV, called K Pro to come back to install and haul away the corpse of my Sony. And once again- great customer service- didn't have to wait too long for an appointment. Up the new TV went, out went the old, and I got confirmation that it was e-recycled, because they even called to make sure that it was ok to use my name & address on the e-recycle form!!! Took my older Samsung LCD TV in for repair as it was making a high pitch noise when turning on coupled with static/snowy picture. It was a common issue with older Samsung LCDs. Owner knew right away what the issue was and fixed it in less than half a day. It turned out be a bad capacitor so he put in a better kind. Price was very reasonable and my TV's been given a new life. It has since been 5 months since the repair and no problems so far. read more

This is the second time I've used the services of K-Pro Technology. I first called the service because my 2 year old big screen SAMSUNG TV suddenly went blank - no pic nor sound. Upon calling K-Pro, its owner came over to my home rapidly and punctually, looked into the TV's circuits in back and quickly diagnosed the problem...a couple of faulty resistors which he explained it to be a problem germane to this model. Right there and then he changed the parts for an most reasonable price and assured me the problem would not repeat. True to his word, the TV it's now about 6 years old and runs perfectly. Most recently, a friend wanted to get rid of her 8 year old 60' Samsung TV on account it had also broken and the TV repairman told her it wasn't fixable. Too old he said. I took it off her hands but decided to call K-Pro again just to verify the other repairman's diagnosis before disposing of it. In this case, K-Pro's owner said it only needed a new circuit board - a $250 part - and he knew where to order it as a refurbished part (Samsung no longer makes this model) in exchange for the old board. After a couple of weeks time the new part arrived, he installed it in minutes and the television now works like new. in fact, because this TV had previously been in a wall mount, he located, and gave me for free, a new table stand - one he happened to have floating around in his warehouse. I usually don't post reviews but i wanted to give this place a review for their fast turnaround and good service. I have a Samsung LCD 52 i've had for about 1.5yrs. Recently the power just went dead. I haven't had much problems with any TV's I've owned so i wasn't sure what to do. I called the Samsung mfg directly and they said it's out of warranty and gave me some referrals for repair centers. while i was searching, i was referred to this place K-Pro TV in Hayward. When i called them the gentleman already knew the problem as i described it over the phone and said i need a power capacitor. As you know, 52 inch is a bulky TV and i did not have the bandwith to take it into his store. He said he would come out to my home to repair at no cost and would only charge me parts and labor. Within a week, the TV was fixed and now works as it use to. He charged $125 that includes parts and labor. What a great deal!
