Made an appointment next-day, told me on the phone what he would do while here, to set timeline expectations. Came out the next day as scheduled (on time), opened up the TV, diagnosed the problem, and told me he'd check to see if he had the part. I have a flat screen to be repaired. Awake TV has a 5 star rating with good reviews. The website says they are open now and open till 8:30 PM. I drive to the location. The place is locked up. I call a number and who ever finally answers says that he is on a service call and won't be back for 90 minutes. I am not a happy camper and will not recommend this one room shop that has TVs piled from floor to ceiling to anyone! read more

WOW! If Yelp had six stars, I'd give it to Peter at Awake TV. Our Samsung LN46C630 46" LCD HDTV (purchased in 2010!) was having some significant screen flickering and weird ghosting issues. I spoke with the Samsung techs on the phone (2x) and thru a few system re-starts and factory re-sets, they basically struck out. The troubleshooting info online (YouTube, etc.) also turned up zilch. Peter was fantastic: - A VERY economical price to diagnose the problem overnight and then (if fixable) provide me an estimate the next day. He did so like clockwork. - He diagnosed it as a screen problem. The boards were fine. (Thankfully.) The price to repair it was super-reasonable. He ordered a replacement, matching Samsung LN46C630 screen and I picked the TV up just four days later. The picture quality is JUST LIKE NEW! It's so difficult finding a reliable, honest, and skillful Big screen TV repair man! After reading & searching through Yelp, I came across Peter Moon. Surprisingly, he actually answered his phone! That's a good start! He promptly made a house call appt to my parent's home the following day! He showed up right on time, and diagnosed the (Panasonic 51" Projection) TVs problem. My Dad was so happy, he even asked Peter to fix another broken (Sony 27") TV that had been out of service too. His minimum $50 House Call fee was waived with purchasing his repair services. The costs of repairing (under $500) two TVs was much less than buying a new flat screen LCD and throwing/recycling away the electronic waste. read more

After reading Yelp reviews, decided to call Awake Tv. I found them deceptive in regard to what they say they charge for a home visit, as opposed to what their website says. For a flat screen 36 " tv they said it would be $95 to just come out for the service call. This is quite a big difference from even the max $50 service call on their website. I pointed this out to them and they said the price was higher because my tv was a flat screen. I asked them what this had to do with the price of a service call and their response was that they had a higher liability in case they dropped the tv when they were looking at it!! With deception from the get go, I can't even imagine what would ultimately have ensued if someone from this facility would've ultimately come out. read more

Our Samsung TV started making this popping sound and wouldn't turn on. Of course, it was out of warranty so I started the dreaded process of looking for a repairman. The last time we had to get our TV fixed it was a mess of ordering and re-ordering parts that resulted in our TV being out for weeks. I called Awake TV in the morning and was surprised that Peter told me he could come out that same day, in the next hour. I had read that there would be a diagnostic fee that would be applied towards the repair and that's what he told me as well. Seemed reasonable. After he arrived, he started taking the TV apart. I was glad that he handled the TV by himself with no help required from me. He said he had to go to his shop but he'd be back in 2 hours with the necessary part. As an owner of a very expensive high-def TV set that likes to go on work stoppages (e.g. break down), I'm unfortunately well qualified to rate the services of TV repair folks. When my set broke down most recently, I called Peter, he came out the next day and he quickly fixed the problem with my set. Moreover, when recalibrating the set with the new part inside, he finally got my TV adjusted in the way I'd been wanting for years (that several other service technicians had never been able to achieve). I won't bore you with the technical gobbledygook, but my set looks and works great now, and the repair tab was very, very affordable. To add to some other reviews, while there is the standard house call charge that all repair services charge, as is industry custom, this fee is applied to the cost of the repair if you have him fix the set. read more

I had a problem with my Samsung LCD TV. I went online to see what the problem/solution was & found out it had a problem with the power supply. I read some reviews online & called some TV repair shops in SF (where I live). In SF, I would have to take my TV in & leave it about a week. I've used Peter last year when my tv broke and wanted to share my feedback with everyone else: I had a Sony Wega 32" flat screen tv that broke and when I called other places they told me that I had to bring it in for them to diagnose the problem and to see if they could fix it. They said if I was to transport my 200+ lb tv to and from the shop, I would only have to pay the diagnostic cost and parts. But if I wanted them to do the transporting it would cost me $400 on top of that! So I found Awake-TV online and I am so glad I did! Peter did house calls..and came to my house and diagnosed the problem with my tv and then order my part. Within a week, my tv was up and running again..and the total cost was much cheaper than $400. My Samsung flat screen TV went black only after 2.5 years. After cussing about it for about an hour, a friend recommended Peter Moon at Awake TV. I gave Peter a call, he told me that it'll cost $30 for him to take a look at it. Few days later, Peter called and told me about the part that needs to be replaced and how much in parts and labor it'll cost me. I cussed again at the TV for dying so soon then told Peter to go ahead and fix it. The amount was kind of on the borderline of spending more money and buying a new TV or fix the old TV and hope the same problem doesnt happen again. I hate these new TVs made with no consideration for quality. I still have a 20 year old Sony tube TV that works just fine. Regardless, Peter was very professional and courteous. Great address to have in your book. If you want to keep up you expensive TV or maintain an old one because you can't afford the new fancy toys, he is the man. His name is Peter. He charges $50 to come to your house and very quickly diagnose the issue. My uncle who's a experts in electronics, by his studies and work, could tell right away that the man knew what he was doing: good tools, fast and without hesitation. He has seen so many TVs that it looks like he already knows what he is going to find inside, just from the external symptoms. He has good estimates and will tell you if it is not worth to fix the TV. If the decision is tough to take, he might fix it in order to check the condition of the image/tube, before you decide to go on to pay to fix it. He will deduct the $50 from the repair fee, which he executes fairly fast, and could take your old TV for recycling if you give him a hand to load it (when necessary for large TVs). Last time he came, he told me it was not worth for me to fix one of my TVs that is getting old, which I believe. A few days later he offered me a TV matching what I was hoping for as a replacement and that one of his customers did not want to fix and told me that it's mine if I want to pay the repair. Great deal! Fast and Flexible. Very helpful and trustworthy. A must have in your address book. read more

Our Samsung 55 inches 10 years old tv has green lines and turn on and off by it self. I called Peter and not only he comes promptly but also find the parts and get it working again. Be very cautious! The owner mistakenly cut off 2 HDMI cable cords from the back of my TV without knowing what they were for!! Regardless of his mistake, he still made us pay him for the home visit ($50) and the HDMI cable he installed ($8). Though he was apologetic, he should've waived the home visit. read more

I contacted Peter Moon (Awake TV) for my 2008 Samsung 58" HD TV, the problem being that it wouldn't turn on - it would cycle turning multiple times turning on/off before finally turning on to eventually never turning on. We scheduled a house call appointment. Peter arrived promptly, looked at/worked with TV and the particular IC board, gave me repair assessment and cost/delivery of repair. We also discussed other options/ideas: current status of my 2008 Samsung, repairing current board vs. buying new board, not repairing TV vs. buying new one, mounting TV on wall). I opted to repair TV. Repair time was 1 week, during which time he called me a couple times to update me on repair and confirm appointment for installation. After 1st repair and a subsequent return/repair visit, TV works perfectly. I highly recommend Peter for TV repair. He does his homework researching your particular TV model, explains everything he plans to do on your particular TV, and he warranties his work. Peter at Awake TV is simply the best. I used his services because of his stellar reviews in Yelp. I have an older Mitsubishi 65" projection TV that stopped working. Being electrically inclined, I did some web searching based upon the symptoms and learned that either some Pico fuses had burned out or the IC Convergence Chips were bad. I pulled the printed circuit board replaced the fuses that were bad, reinstalled it and it blew the fuses again--it had serious problems likely needing the Convergence Chips changed which is a much bigger job that I wanted to handle. I spoke with Peter, he know exactly about the related issues. I brought him my circuit board, he tested it on the spot and confirmed the IC Chips were bad. He sold me a refurbished printed circuit board that day for substantially less than the quotes I was getting from other local repairs shops to do the work which would have taken days. My TV works great now. His place of business is cluttered but he knows how to work on audio video equipment. I highly recommend Peter at Awake TV. read more

I had walked into the store while Peter was in the middle of repairing a T.V, and interrupted him in regards to a question I had for an old RF unit that was unable to be used on a modern T.V. i had previously visited several other T.V. repair stores and electronic stores who had brushed me off and told me that they didn't deal with old outdated accessories. However, Peter had actually spent the time examining the item and finding other components to make it work on a modern T.V. while also telling me to come back if it didn't work. I referred my brother to Awake TV based on the yelp reviews. Big MISTAKE! Peter Moon arrived at his house and made sure that he collected his $50, before spending an hour fiddling around the TV saying "this could be a tricky problem..." then he says,"I will need to take it to my shop, and it could take up to 1 week to fix...and it will cost at least $350 to repair!" Luckily, my bro is no dummy, and he got a 2nd opinion from McAlister's Electronics in Sunnyvale. The guy at McAlister's charged $75 to look at it, and diagnosed the problem within 1 hour. He said that it had a bad sensor, and would cost an additional $40 to fix! Do the math, that is $235 cheaper than Peter "very tricky" Moon and 6 days faster!!! Buyer Beware!!! read more
