great breakfast joint... excellent potatoes to go with your egglicious meal

This place is awesome. Friendly servers and food is hot, fresh and wholesome. Best place in Dallas in opinion.

As an update to my review... the owner contacted me to try to rectify the situation.

The food was excellent and so was the service. It is certainly a step up from a local diner and it has outdoor seating when warm.

We sat down and waited about 15 minutes without a server. Carla, one of the waitresses, noticed that we had been sitting down for a while and once we told her about our situation she was very apologetic and immediately put our order in. Our order came out very quickly and the food was fantastic. During our meal, Steve, the manager, came up to our table apologizing for what had happened earlier. Great service, and food. Will definitely be coming back for any future brunch fix. read more

I usually have either the Ham and Cheese Omelette or the Denver Omelette. Occasionally I will try their sandwiches. The food preparation is consistent and delicious. I have been dining at least one day a week since they opened. read more

My favorite breakfast place in Dallas. The service is always great but our server Matt in particular is always above the board. He's hilarious and he times everything perfect as though he can read your mind. AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME! If you're an eggs benedict fan, they have 7 different types. My favorites are the veggie and the crab cakes benedict. Yummy. read more

Have been here several times and never disappointed. Frittatas, Benedicts, waffles delicious!!

Delicious food and great service. The Egg and I doesn't disappoint. We were in town for the weekend and a friend recommended this breakfast spot. The waitress was very helpful and friendly. This will be a place I return to the next time I'm in Dallas. read more

A friend and I meet here as often as possible for good food and good service. We look forward to seeing the board's recommendation for the special of the day. The atmosphere encourages a leisurely brunch and visit. The staff are friendly and efficient, and the manager almost always stops by each table to be sure customers are satisfied. read more

Overall really bad experience here. Although the management and waiters were very nice, our entire experience here made us want to never come back. We ordered and paid for our food through Eatstreet google and was told it would be 20 minutes until it was ready. When we arrived, the manager said they never received our order but could get us in and out quickly since we already know what we want and our order had already been typed out. We were seated and I handed my phone with the completed order to our waiter so all he had to do was punch in our items and be done! Simple right? Guess not. Our order took 25 minutes to come and every alteration I made was not acknowledged. Our food arrived cold and soggy, Items were forgotten from our order and requests like no sour cream, extra crispy potatoes, and additional toppings were ignored. My boyfriend and I both work in the service industry and just expected better service considering our experience had been a mess from the start. We were handed a $20 coupon for our next visit but we will not be returning. Don't go here for your over priced average breakfast, there's some way better options through out Addison! read more

Can't believe this place has already been open almost an entire year and I've only now visited. My nephew (a foodie in training) proclaimed this was, "the best breakfast place ever". I have to agree. Everything from the coffee, eggs, bacon, biscuits and gravy were top notch. Waitstaff was friendly and attentive. GREAT value for the huge portions they serve up. Can't wait for next weekend so we can go back! read more

Went here after reading reviews on Yelp, as I have a class in the vicinity. Found it fine, went inside...nice, clean and decorated well...though the classical music would have been better off trumped with old country songs to match the decor. Coffee was good, menu very well put together...what's this...crab cakes benedict?!?! SIGN ME UP!! Well, that concluded the climax of my visit. Dish came out, barely even warm; and if the crabcakes were "fresh" they would have actually had a slight crust from being just grilled. Said something about it, so they said they would redo it....did not redo, just microwaved the one I had not touched and put it on a different dish. When the "redone" one came out, well it was hot, but so was the tomato that was the middle layer....this is supposed to be built as such: FRESH grilled crabcake, FRESH tomato, poached egg, hollandaise sauce. Overall, I was extremely disappointed, which got worse each time someone else came in and I heard the microwave ding the completion of their meal. read more

Surprisingly good! While I will still lean towards Original Pancake House, The Egg and I is good for their own merits. The ranch potatoes are great, and the corned beef is really good (and NOT from a can -- I'm looking at you, Pete's Cafe!). The hollandaise sauce could use a bit more lemon to punch it up, and they seem to serve it with everything. read more

I was really disappointed in this place. We went here after there was an hour wait at another restaurant. I had previously gone to another location of the same chain, but I was really disappointed in the food. It was really blah. Great prices but no taste what so ever. read more

Honestly, I only went here becuase there was a long wait at The Original Pancake house two blocks south. But it all worked out great, because I was seated right away at The Egg & I! I ordered the raspberry granola pancake - it was outstanding! It's just one pancake but it's BIG! And it comes with yogurt instead of butter and syrup, so i can convince myself it's healthier than a regular stack. I can't wait to go back and try the waffles! I think earlier may be better - I arrived at 9 a.m. on Sunday morning, and by the time I left it was really starting to fill up! read more

Busy but quickly sat. The food was excellent and I had plenty left over for another meal. My server Vanessa was polite and took very good care. Overall a very pleasant first impression. read more

Have been here numerous times. For brunch I am def. an egg kinda guy...and this place has sooo many egg dishes and they have all been good. Yesterday I had something new and very different...2 pieces of toast with mashed avocado and eggs (on the side). Was very good and they are generous with the avocado too! Prices are reasonable. Service always good. read more

My daughter introduced me to this restaurant several years ago, and I come a couple times a month. The food has been consistently great, I love the selections, and I've always, every time, had great service. Today, my best thanks to Alex!!! read more

The fried egg sandwich is to die for. Omelettes are very good. Very nice menu selection. The only thing I don't care for is the turkey sausage patties but that's just a personal prefrence. Service is excellent. Portions huge. read more

Went there yesterday and decided to do carry out. Big mistake! The hostess had never used the POS system before and it took her at least 5 min to put in a simple order (omelette, oatmeal, and iced coffee). Then she brings out the coffee and it's hot. Instead of changing the cup and putting it in an iced coffee cup, she puts ice in the hot coffee. It takes almost 20 min to get my order (yes I realized I should have called ahead.) and I get it back to my office to eat and my omelette literally looks like its been soaked in butter and I don't have any brown sugar for the oatmeal. On top of this, it cost me close to $20. I guess, judging from the reviews, I ordered the wrong thing, and should have eaten there, but I would be extremely hesitant to go back considering they can't even make a decent omelette. read more

Not impressed. Bacon thinner and not as crisp as The Original Pancake House. The Sourdough toast tasted more like white bread. Again, Original Pancake House's sourdough bread is fantastic. Prices were comparable read more

If you've never been to the Egg and I on Knoll Tr in North Dallas you are truly missing out. From the amazing Pecan coffee to the Chia Coconut Oatmeal to the Bacon Avocado Scramble.....nothing disappointed. Absolutely delicious. Ask for Victoria, great, friendly waitress. The manager was in and so friendly. He spent time visiting with the guests making everyone feel welcome. Wonderful, and tasty experience. We will definitely be back. Thank you to the nice couple who made this recommendation to us. We were at a different restaurant who had stopped serving breakfast for the day. They said don't go anywhere else but the Egg and I if you want breakfast. read more

Took my dad for fathers day and he loved it. So many healthier choices. The food was fantastic. I will be returning very soon

Nice, clean, quick location thst works well for a speedy breakfast meeting that's a drastic step up from Denny's or a relaxed weekend morning with the paper. read more

Not only is The Egg and I convenient, it's one of the best restaurants to grab a delicious bite of breakfast. It can get packed but the wait usually isn't too long. Come with an empty stomach early in the morning and you will leave with a full one not wanting to eat until dinner time. The service is wonderful. Everyone is so nice and accommodating. read more

Awesome food and very friendly service with spectacular management! My husband and I have been coming here for over 6 years. Waffle express is my favorite...looking forward to pumpkin waffle season this fall. Ask for Laura or Susie! read more

Great food and great service! Loved our waiter, DJ - super friendly and welcoming. Definitely recommend!

This is by far my favorite breakfast place in DFW. Staff is always friendly. Try Athena Scarmble. It's amazing.

The wait was a bit ridiculous. The hostess was so friendly and kind that it made the wait less painful. Took a while for food to come out but it was delicious once it did come out. Everything was good read more

Fantastic breakfast. I usually get a benedict and it is decadent.

Wife and I have been going here for some time. We take family and friends, too. Very nice spot, especially for brunch. Good food, lots of variety, nice service. Today we stopped in for brunch, after not having been in for perhaps 6 weeks or so. After we were seated, I noticed that the music coming over the PA system in the ceiling was terribly loud. I asked several of the folks up front at reception if they could drop the volume a bit. They said that they "had no control over it." Huh? They did offer to seat us elsewhere, perhaps farther away from a ceiling speaker. We moved. It didn't make much difference. I'll try this place once more, but, if I hear that the music volume hasn't been tamped down, I'll leave, and cross this place off totally. Shame. Why do coffee shops like this feel they need to jack up their music so loud? Why do they even need music? And, here's the topper. It was classical music...usually no problem with that! read more

My wife and i just moved to Addison Tx a few weeks ago and we fell in love with this place. The food is GREAT and the service is something other resturants could learn from..You need to check it out! read more

Terrible. Ordered Pancakes and bacon. Waited 25 minutes for my order. When it arrived it was ice cold. I complained to the waitress who had quite the attitude. It was brought back by another waiter who was even more rude. It had been microwaved so the pancake was hard as rock. Bacon was not made fresh and still ice cold. I complained again and was met with very bad attitude by the wait staff as well as the manger on duty. The meal ordered by my friend was inedible. They did remake hers and we took it to go. I have been here before and the meal was much better. Must be having problems with staffing all around. I will not return and give this place another chance. Too many other good breakfast options around. read more

The Raspberry & Cream French Toast it's delicious. I highly recommend it. I never had a long wait, but on Sunday mornings. Definitely worth it. read more

I had the wild mushroom and veggie hash this morning. I think there were three pieces of mushroom and a few slices of green/red peppers, some onion and a little spinach. All the rest was was big mess of potato (hash). Have had that dish at a different location and they were not skimpy on the veggies. read more
