And like any brick and mortar store, profit margins are tight. That said, in numerous business encounters, I've found pricing to be beyond fair and reasonable. But this is not eBay, Amazon or Walmart. They simply can't "meet or beat" any price when their inventory might be limited in a certain category and/or procured at a price point they can't simply ignore. I would hope a community that wants to see stores like this thrive would appreciate that it must be supported, not by blindly overpaying for product, but understanding that much of the store's stock of merchandise has come to it through many channels and being ok with modest premiums on some (by no means all) items over what you'll find on the internet (where there is no tangible relationship between the parties and the transactions are cold and detached--where the provenance of more esoteric items is questionable at best). Unfortunately, I've seen the store have to put up signs discouraging haggling and rummaging through product. This isn't an ancient Arabian bazaar where you have to haggle for every dollar and deal or you'll lose credibility. It's a business with dedicated individuals trying to offer a welcoming and unique space while pricing the best they can within their modest profit margin targets. And this is not a clubhouse or an extension of your den. Please try to treat the store, merchandise, and humans working here with respect and graciousness. I promise you'll get it in return. And because this is not your play room, but a store catering to the public (many of which come equipped with video security), do not have some misguided expectation that you can berate or criticize the store, its pricing or product and maintain your "privacy". Others in the community who shop here can see and hear you, you're not in your house. And everyone has cell phone cameras that capture any number of public interactions every second of the day. If common decency has no sway over how you carry yourself in public, at least understand that you can't simply carry on with impunity and expect to be cloaked in anonymity. In short, I encourage my fellow patrons to please not let scrounging for the next deal or the impulse to try and nickel and dime the store, because it is unique and accessible, create an atmosphere like so many other impersonal chain stores. Where the desperation to get a better deal, and not (ever) to feel like we've overpaid, turns us into the epitome of lowbrow consumer who doesn't even seem to enjoy the experience. If we think we deserve better, let's try to act our best when shopping at Perfectly Centered and elsewhere in town, and we might just end up being right.

Even walking in with high expectations, I was blown away by the level of service. George, Kemesha's husband, was working the store on his own today. When I walked in and I asked for his help to select a gift, he apologized that his wife wasn't there. Then he called her. He put her on speaker phone and she guided me to an amazing gift. I could have looked at the shelf all day and not "seen" it. She wanted to give me another option too -- and I appreciated her integrity in that, but this first one was perfect! Next was gifts for my nieces and she directed me to a selection where literally everything was so perfect. And there were things there that I would buy for myself! When I mentioned I also needed a gift for another nephew, whose birthday is in a couple of weeks, she encouraged me to come back. She said that she could have recommended something in stock, but that she was getting more merchandise next week and didn't want to just sell me anything. This store isn't exactly around the corner from me; it was a detour to come here. Shopping online would be more convenient, in theory. But some things are more important than convenience. There is a level of care in how Kemesha and George run their store that cannot be replaced. Within 5 minutes Kemesha and George won me over as a raving fan client for life. This is a business run on integrity and caring, and I'm thrilled to give them my business. PS - I rarely take the time to write online reviews, so consider that for what it's worth to you.

READ THIS BEFORE SELLING YOUR COLLECTION To HERO COMICS & CARDS!…read more I walk in and the owner shows me this incredible card collection he just bought from someone and starts bragging how he already sold a card for $2000. Mind you, he had no idea how to identify some of these cards. I've been in this hobby for 10+ years and I was more than happy to show him everything I know on about how to identify a card. One of the cards I helped him identify was worth $900-1300 conservatively and in NM condition. When he found out how much this card was worth he told me he didn't even factor this card into the value of the collection when he paid for the collection. He said that he thought this particular card wasn't real or was tacky. If you do not know how to evaluate certain cards don't accept them but instead do the right thing and guide your customers to a place that can evaluate a collection appropriately. This should be common sense for someone who has been in the industry as long as you have been. When the owner realized how much the card was worth he didn't seem too concerned about ripping the person off at all! Instead he said "sometimes not knowing what a collection is worth can truly payoff," then he laughed. I really tried to have a good conversation with this man but deep down my intuition was screaming that this person was lost in Greed. There was one card I wanted to buy and he wasn't even willing to sell the card for fair market value even though I helped him identify these cards. All of a sudden somehow he became the expert and was suggesting that these cards were worth more than they actually were. He kept referencing TCG player prices but he knows nothing about how this market works and pretends he does! He didn't even know how to look up these cards on TCGplayer until I showed him. The prices you find on TCGplayer are oftentimes above market value and you can almost always find them cheaper on eBay! Don't deal in a market you're clearly not informed enough to deal in. Be ethical and guide people in the right direction rather than try and fill your own pockets. It's just really sad businesses like Hero Comics exist. I feel for the customer who didn't get the value for their collection that they truly deserved. If you are looking to sell a collection get a quote from multiple card shops before actually selling your cards. If you find out your cards are worth a pretty penny reach out to an online auction that pays 90% of a cards value! Their are plenty of local card shops that know what they're doing and won't accept cards that they are not experts in. Many of these shops are fully transparent with you about the cards you have and can guide you into the right direction. And to Hero Comics, no one is perfect, do the right thing, actually reach out to the person, and be fully transparent with them on what the cards are worth and what they sell for. Give them at least a 70% commission which is industry standard for most card-shops. Take accountability, learn, and grow. I'm confident you will.
