Got a salmon for lunch for work. Pretty good sized and was really filling. Just a solid takeout place.

    Greek salata
    Marissa L.

Visited this Avo location for the first time recently, and ordered the Greek salata. The line moved quickly, and while the price point is similar to a lot of other bowl spots, at least here the price already includes avocado. The salad was fine, but I think I've liked other bowls at Avo better. I think I was expecting this to taste more like Greek salads from Greek restaurants (which I really love) than it did, so I would probably order something else next time. Not sure if it was the choice of dressing, but I do appreciate that they've made all their dressings vegan to be accessible to more people. This location also has some seating (both indoors and outside) and a bathroom.

HUGE portions! I built my own bowl and it was amazing - al pastor chicken with tofu

This is my first time trying this salad chain. Apparently they have a couple around New York but it's my first time hearing about it. This location is conveniently located inside Industry City where all the food court options are. I picked the build your own bowl option - added tofu and mushrooms as my extra options. They were out of mushrooms but substituted it with al pastor chicken. The spicy chicken is so good. I'm hooked! The staff was super friendly and so generous with the portion size. My bowl was filled all the way to the top and I had leftovers for lunch tomorrow. They also have a promo currently - if you download their app, you get $7 off your next purchase. They also seem to load random promos in the app as well so I highly recommend downloading it if you love healthy options and good deals. Sweetgreen used to be my favorite salad place but I think Avo has now replaced it as my favorite.

It's 90° today in the city. So a refreshing cool smoothie sounds like a great refreshing treat.... Popped into Avo. Ordered the Avocado Dragonfruit Smoothie. Stepped outside into the blazing sun, took my first step... my yum was yucked! My tastebuds shriveled up like a man in a speedo at the first swim of the season in April! Warm warm warm, avocado, lychee, dragonfruit, coconut water & protein. Warm is being nice. I thought I accidentally ordered a vegetable purée, dip or summer soup! Stepped back in and asked if I could get some ice, only to find out they don't have any ice at all I'm a pretty patient and understanding person, but one would think ice is a pretty important component of a smoothie. I'm sure it's great normally, but $14.50 with tip for a hot smoothie in July... F minus.

This place reminds me a lot of sweetgreen. I happened to pass by it while walking in NYC, and figured it would be a decent place to have lunch. I ended up getting the ready-made bowl that came with halloumi. To me, it wasn't anything special, as I'm not really a fan of quinoa and would have preferred a crunchy, lettuce base, or more halloumi. The sauce also seemed kind of sparse. I paired my meal with an Olipop which was refreshing, and nice to see it as a beverage option. I didn't completely finish my bowl as it got to be too much/too boring. If you're in the mood for salad in the Flatiron District, this can be a convenient place to stop into, but I wouldn't say it's my favorite restaurant.

Loved this place. Very clean and the staff was very helpful when ordering. I decided to go with the spicy chicken bowl. OMG - good thing they put the spicy sauce on the side cause boy was it spicy. They gave me a hefty amount of spinach. Some rice. Chicken. Avocado. Cabbage. Pico. Chips. It was so delicious Will definitely be back!

Looking for something quick, healthy, and green?! This place hits the spot Walk in and order from their signature bowls or customize your own. I ordered the Farmer's Market bowl-kale, quinoa, almonds, chicken, avocado, and I can't remember what else was in it, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. A vegan chipotle dressing was mixed in that was made with cashews- love, love, love! Went up to the counter to ask for more. Friendly service, great food made with simple healthy ingredients.. I would totally go back.

great website listings with seasonal offerings (this one was amazing!)

Harvest bowl is a huuuge disappointment compared to everything else I've tried! Non-massaged, dry kale with wildly (offensive) browned avocado, a balsamic dressing that was barely noticeable aside from the moisture it provided, $2 extra to add "crispy Brussels sprouts" which were shredded, remarkably flavorless pieces. 1 tiny dab of goat cheese, flavorless quinoa. roasted almonds were crushed and unnoticeable. What a miss. Super disappointed that I branched out to try this bowl! Will definitely go back eventually but have been meaning to try Just Salad and Dig so will most likely make one of them my next lunch stop when in East Midtown just to see what they're offering. The Summer Bowls were great! You alls Fall offerings are too similar, uninspired, and not it. Plz reach out to me as I'd love to help your team out!!

12/20/23: As a lover of avocado when I saw this in passing, added to my list of spots to try. Finally did. Upon entering pretty empty so placing order didn't take long. Staff friendly and helpful. Unfortunately once purchased an enroute to home received a call to meet friends for dinner. As a result never got to consume but will definitely return to try again. They also have an outside seating area which probably best utilized once weather becomes warmer.

    My Thai Salad

Excellent salad spot. I love the idea of an avocado-centric restaurant. They are very vegan-friendly. Every menu item is either already vegan or can easily be made vegan. My favorite salad is the My Thai which has also been a favorite among my office friends. The spicy cashews are sooo good and so is the tofu. If you're looking for an oil-free dressing option, go with the tahini dressing.

    Ellen C.

I got the My Thai with tofu and overall it was pretty yummy! I felt super healthy eating it. The only thing is I expected the sauce to be sweeter - I think I was thinking a Thai peanut sauce but it came with a sesame ginger sauce which is more tangy. The avocado tasted super fresh. Would order again!

The food tastes fresh and clean, and I include this place in my rotation of healthy quick salad/bowl/vegetarian meal options in the neighborhood. I love that they have raw vegan treats, an increasingly rare find since several of my favorite raw vegan spots in the city closed down over the years. I'll admit I was first lured in by the antiquey aesthetic and the colorful vintage florals, but the food and environment are both very pleasurable.

It was our first time eating at a Friedman's location. It had a nice diner feel to it, with a mix of booths and tables. The brunch menu has a variety of breakfast items, salads, sandwiches and burgers, starters, and entrees (fish tacos, grain bowl, fried chicken). I like that several of the items are naturally gluten free, and some can be made gluten free by request. We decided to go with three breakfast items from the brunch menu: I got the shakshuka, my sister got the Nova Benny, and we got the lemon ricotta pancakes to share. All 3 dishes were great. The shashuka came with grilled ciabatta, perfect for dipping into the sunny side eggs and tomato sauce. My sister loved that the poached eggs and smoked salmon of the Nova Benny came on top of a crispy potato latke. The pancakes were fluffy and the lemon ricotta and lemon zest elevated their flavor. Our server was friendly and attentive, and he asked us if we had any allergies when he took our order. He came by several times to check on us and refill water. Beyond Sushi was in Midtown near where I was staying, so I ended up coming here---on Valentine's Day, which happened to be a mistake! Since I didn't have a reservation, the lady who checked me in told me I had to find a seat at the bar. Her attitude was not the best, as when I looked over the menu and made a decision on what I wanted to get, she dismissed me when I waved her over, saying she is not the person taking orders. Um, okay? Then who is? One guy at the bar was nicer, and was able to take my order. I started off with a hot tea since NYC was cold in February, and then decided to have as much as I could of two dishes---the "chicken" yakitori skewers and the Korean BBQ skillet. The skewers came in a set of two, with a white mayo-like sauce drizzle and pickled cucumber on the side. Super delectable, though very filling because of the protein! The skillet was made with classic Chunk Foods protein, the go-to plant-based option for all the meat dishes at City Roots restaurants as far as I know. This was incredibly filling, but the sauce and the texture were all around delicious as well. I could NOT bother to finish the brussels sprouts the skillet came with---way too much to stomach, and I was going to focus on the "meats" since I can always have brussels any other time! The bill by the end of it was PRICEY. That's why I only go to one of these restaurants as a special treat when I visit NYC. Watch out if you order hot tea...$13!!
