- A few customers during the Monday afternoon lunch period; small establishment with assembly-line style food prep, and the space is tight, with only a couple of small tables available for dine-in - Service was very speedy - Offers a selection of Mexican entrées with plenty of ingredients to choose from when building a custom bowl - Food was good but not great: I went with a custom al pastor burrito bowl--the yellow rice had some dry, hardened grains; both types of beans were very watery, which made the whole dish soggy; the other toppings didn't have much flavor, though the al pastor itself was nicely seasoned - Portion size is fair for the price, but overall the dish lacked flavor - Complimentary mini carrot muffin came with the meal, which was surprisingly moist and tasty
Stumbled into this spot and glad I did. The girl at the counter is so attentive and a sweetheart, great aura. Requested to have a little rice into my taco salad and it was no problem. Small little place but they are pretty busy with takeout and delivery orders, I can see why! Thanks guys!
Dropped by to grab takeout for dinner; we got the Mexican chipotle plate and falafel hummus wrap; food was ready in less than 10 minutes after ordering; staff were friendly. Excellent portions for the price, food was delicious.
I'd have to go back n try some of their real menu but based on today's cinco de Mayo celebration menu I'd say they were probably pretty solid at a decent price; Grubhub had a place called "cinco de Mayo and when I rolled up to pick up, I looked up... and down and around until I realized Natureworks was one in the same serving up tacos, enchiladas, and quesadillas. I splurged, Grubhub issued a 40% off coupon for the menu so I couldn't resist- $21 for four tacos and enchiladas- all were pretty decent and a nice size.
I came here for lunch since I work nearby. I'm always looking for a healthy place for lunch. My friend recommended this place for salads and smoothies. I ordered the turkey burger pizza style since it sounded interesting? I was tired of eating salads (I eat a salad at least once a week). The turkey burger was larger than I expected. The turkey was not dry and pretty juicy. However, the pizza marinara sauce was a bit bland. There was a lot of cheese though. I did like that it was in a pita bread instead of a hamburger bun since it's healthier. The staff were friendly and fast. I would come back and try their smoothies. I saw a lot of people ordering juices and smoothies.
This is long overdue but Natureworks is awesome and feeds me multiple times per month. When you're trying to eat healthy without breaking the bank and want a variety to choose from, this is your place. I honestly have never had a bad dish from here. Plus, their food is always hot and is ready quickly when I pick up my orders and delivered quickly when I opt for delivery. My go-to is simply getting a side (or 2) of grilled chicken to bring home and eat with my own veggies and sweet potato. Their grilled chicken is incredible and is not loaded with oil and salt (or at least it doesn't taste like it is). Other favorites include the: #64 Lean and Ripped Plate #68 The Ultimate Plate (w/ pasta) #26 Turkey Burger Pizza Style #72 Chicken Coop (w/ pasta + w/ out soy sauce) #41 Grilled Chicken Breast Over Steamed Spinach Other things I have tried and loved are the #67 Tony's Plate (the sauce is actually delicious and not too salty) and the #80 English Breakfast. Also, all plates come with a free whole wheat pita. These are delicious but they do go stale quickly so you should it eat on day one. Overall I would definitely recommend Natureworks for whatever you're craving!
Good lunch spot for hearty, healthy meals. I've gotten a wrap and bowl here before, this time I just got a side of falafel ($3). Falafel is REALLY good and not dry at all. good portion too. Loved that its baked, rather than fried. Love the combinations they come up with for their bowls, burritos, and wraps! They also serve breakfast all day.. win! They are also on ritual and your first order is 50% off up to $5 It's a small little place, I think there were two tables to sit at? Mostly seems like a to-go place. The people working there were very friendly also.
Not so much a restaurant but really a great little hole in the wall place that dishes out healthy food options at affordable prices. A lot of the time healthy eating equates to bland eating, but not here. I can see myself hitting this place up more and more as I get my training in gear. The food was actually quite flavorful. Really big menu of food options from sandwiches in whole wheat pitas, burritos, salads, pizza, all-day breakfast, high energy protein plates, energy and protein shakes, soups, and snacks. This place has it all. There are monthly breakfast and lunch specials. For month of June there are discounts on breakfast and free sides with lunch sandwiches. I ordered the Ultimate Plate which consists of grilled chicken breast, brown rice, mixed steamed veggies, hummus, and a pita on the side. It is $10 but you get a lot of food here! Plus, it tasted pretty good and the chicken was not dry at all. Veggies were fresh and hummus was decent. Washed it down with a raspberry crystal light drink which is a pretty large cup for $1.99 - yum! So glad this place is only a few blocks from my office. Guys who work there were nice and the food was prepared quickly. Dining area is small and consists of a few high tables and chairs, and some counter space along the wall. Mainly I saw a lot of take out and delivery going on. Two women next to me were eating the pita sandwiches and they looked good. As one who likes to eat healthy, or try to, I will definitely go back for more healthy meals here.
Okay, so my original review of this place (from a few months back) read: I am ashamed to say that I've lived across the street from Natureworks for almost a year now and being the health freak that I am, never walked in...until today. After having beasted it out at the gym while also feeling a little under the weather, I was in desperate need of immediate fuel, but was too lazy to cook like I usually do. Then came my epiphany AHA moment...NATUREWORKS! Lets try it! Pulling up my handy dandy Seamless app, I went order crazy. I got the vegetarian chili, an order of hummus, and the "Lean and Ripped" high energy protein plate. All that for a measly $13! Not to shabby for a New York City dinner! Now for the food breakdown: Lean and Ripped plate- [Foodies, you can stop reading now. Health nuts, proceed.] This is your standard "clean eating" dish. If you're expecting over-the-top flavors and your tastebuds dancing and singing, it's not going to happen. What you get is white meat chicken pieces over a bed of steamed veggies (broccoli, carrots, cauliflower, and zucchini). It's plain tasting, but very filling. I'd order it again. Vegetarian Chili- If you've read any of my previous reviews, I'm extremely hesitant with vegetarian food items. I am a carnivore through and through but for some reason this menu item spoke to me. I ordered a size small and it was very filling and not overly salty like many soups are. It's more of a bean soup with that southern smokey taste to it, pretty solid. Hummus- The star of the meal. Seriously. Some of the BEST HUMMUS I've ever had. I was shocked. It tasted like they put insane amounts of tahini in it. Personally, I can eat tahini by the bucket, so having that much flavor of it in my hummus made its way straight from my tastebuds, to my heart, then finally to my stomach. YES YES YES. In addition to all this, they put THREE PITA BREADS in my bag. THREE. Dear lord, if you're trying to cut carbs...BEWARE they give it away like Oprah gives out humpback whales (Dane Cook joke, y'all). If you're looking for a good, inexpensive, filling, and HEALTHY meal, this is your place. Their menu is massive and caters to all dietary needs for all meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks! It's such a hole-in-the-wall that it can be missed in a second but it's almost as if its a 31st Street secret. Shh! NOW FOR THE UPDATE: I have upped Natureworks Restaurant's stars from four to five because I have ingested it so many times it is now a piece of my soul. Though I haven't reordered the Lean and Ripped plate, my go-to is OPEN SESAME! It is by far one of the more delicious healthy weeknight dinners I treat myself to every week or so. It's so meaty, so tahini-y (copyrighting my use of that word...one day), and good for you. And even though a large size is massive, I devour the entire thing every single time, with a side of steamed spinach because apparently I'm trying to win the title of Iron Woman. But seriously though...the service is good, Seamless orders are speedy, and this place is also on HealthyOut for those of you who hoard smartphone apps.
I always swing by and grab a green shake! Very reasonably priced and tastes good too. Got the All alkaline shake for $6.60 and it was so filling. Definitely worth it. I've heard food is good here too but I only got a vegetable chicken rice dish (I forgot the name) but it was healthy in that there were no sauce so it tasted bland.
This small little spot serves some really good Mexican food. Mostly take/ out but there are 3 small tables inside if you want to eat there. Big selection of tacos, burritos, bowls, nachos and more. Choice of chicken, steak, pork, fish or veggies. Came with my son and we shared a Steak Burrito and nachos. The Burrito was stuffed with rice, beans, lettuce, pico de gallo, sour cream and cheese. The nachos had fresh corn tortilla chips, beans, melted cheese, sour cream, jalapeños and tomato and we added a nice spicy tinga chipotle chicken. Portions were big. If you're looking for good, fast, authentic Mexican food.... This is it. Super reasonable too. read more

This place is good but their orders are inconsistent. I order two chicken tacos which should include onion, cilantro, guacamole and sour cream. I usually get the same order so I know how it should look like. Instead I got this. read more

Continuing my review of health foods, Natureworks is clearly a step ahead of the rest. (See my Fuel review) Natureworks offers an affordable, fast food, healthy options. They offer an expansive menu with options ranging from $5-$15 depending on the portion size. Simple ingredients and a slightly higher quality of food than Fuel. There is a standard Protein Bakery section which tastes healthier (less sugar/chocolate) than its Fuel counterpart. Unique to Natureworks is the protein carrot cake. A must! Food is prepared relatively quickly ~10-15 minute wait depending on how busy it is. They also offer catering for work events. If in the Murray Hill / Kips Bay Area, and hungry for a good fast food option, look no further. Again I would recommend this over Fuel in terms of quality of food and healthier ingredients. Flavor and price are on par if not better. Not at the level of "grass fed" or "organic farm raised" meats for our bougier folk but still delicious! read more

Dropped in this place for a Falafel + Hummus salad to go, came with a side of Tahini. Super basic but lettuce was fresh and it was healthy and refreshing. Took them 5 minutes to make and I also love how many options they have available on the menu. Would not recommend eating in tho. read more

Not at all what I expected based on the name. Nature I thought healthy, organic, flavorful, clean eats sort of place. And I walk into the place and it got some gym like photos and not the cute, hipster place I imagined. Ordered an omelette with tofu and spinach. A salad. And falafel. Everything came plain with dressing and ketchup and bread on side. Definitely need the sauces to dress it up. All though not as expected, the place is perfect for a post workout stop. Meal was simple, hardy and packed with protein. I ate about 3/4 the omelette and saved the rest. Salad went to work for lunch next day. It was really filling. So much food for a reasonable price. read more

Seldom do I come to work without a lunch made at home, however on the few days that I don't have time, I like to find a healthy alternative and Natureworks popped up on my Yelp search as a healthy place near my place of work. Although there are so many conflicting opinions about the benefits of Yelp, I think it's an extremely useful tool and when used the right way, can be really great for business. I think the convenience of the application is wonderful, Natureworks has a link on their Yelp page that allows you to place an order for takeout or delivery. It makes the process of ordering your food so much easier. Especially for someone like me, I can place the order my phone and then it's ready to be picked up once I get to the restaurant. There are also some people who frown upon Yelp users and think they do not good for business. Although there are lots of people out there who write reviews that are in no way helpful, there are people who put in effort and hope their reviews are beneficial to others looking for a place to eat. So, when I walked into Natureworks to pick up my order that I placed through Yelp's website, I was offended by the laughs and smirks that were exchanged by the workers when I stepped forward and gave them my name for the take out order. I felt uncomfortable eating the food the entire time as they were staring at me exchanging smirks and couldn't hold back their laughter. It made me feel as though my food was tampered with because I am someone who writes Yelp reviews and it was a really shitty feeling. Even when I was leaving, they both could not hold back their laughs. Nobody else was being looked at like this, I was being observant of others who walked through the door. Call me paranoid, but it was very evident something about me in there was HILARIOUS. I tried to ignore it and enjoy my small sized baked chicken with vegetables, brown rice and hummus. Some would call the chicken bland and dry, but I prefer it that way because that means it is being loaded with salt and salt added dressings so the plain nature of the food worked well for me. The hummus was interesting, definitely unlike any hummus I have tasted before, but it was okay. After eating the small size, I felt sufficiently full and fell like I had eaten a healthy meal. I paid $10 and change for the meal and I thought that was reasonable. Rarely can you find a place that doesn't cook their vegetables in pads of butter and unhealthy oils so this place was a breath of fresh air in terms of healthy eating. Honestly hesitant to come back because of the uncomfortable vibe I was given by the workers but in terms of freshness and quality of their food, I would recommend it. read more
Love the idea of a fast casual restaurant focused on healthy alternatives to the usual garbage, however Natureworks just doesn't really do It for me. I've only had It for delivery to the office since I've joined in with a few coworkers when they put in an order. Their large variety of foods they offer is always interesting, so I've given some things a try. The few times I've had It, I've gone with a chicken focused dish and every time I just finish feeling blah about It. Yes, I got my veggies and lean protein but I feel like It could just be better. The chicken in particular has always been so, so dry. And today It wasn't just me, the two others with me complained about how dry their chicken was. Thankfully mine had sauce to help It out. I won't go out of my way to eat at Natureworks by any means, but if I'm looking to eat a bit light, I'll consider It. read more

I had to grab something to eat before my workout. I was referred to this place. I ordered the protein veggie salad and a peanut butter banana shake. The shake was great! You can taste both the peanut butter and banana; no one item overpowered the other. The salad, on the other hand, wasn't all that great. I don't know if it lacked the dressing but it tasted bland. The tofu was dry and didn't help the flavor. I would definitely come back to get another shake. read more

Ordered from this place through ritual because they had a $5.00 off your first order promo. I ordered a Supreme Smoothie (left) and a Chocolate Peanut butter delight right). Taste wise they were both just okay. The strawberry delight had a very vitamin taste that they could've done a better job masking. Multiple aluminum bits were found in the chocolate peanut butter delight smoothie (2nd pic) which is why I'm rating this place so poorly vs a 3/4 star for taste. Had to stop drinking the smoothie half way in because pieces were being spit out after every sip. They should strive to do a better job being cautious with what goes into their food and drinks. read more

Clean clean Protein & Veggies If you need good clean food that most certainly won't win any Michelin Stars in the near future, then this is it. Their food fuels my workout days with sustainable whole grains, quality protein and huge portions. Super Protein Plate - The chicken baked in tahini is actually really good and I regretted getting the large size, it's SO filling! And the brown rice and spinach were a great addition to this post-workout meal! It did taste a little bland towards the end.. Very friendly people, mostly a takeout place; wraps, soups, salads, smoothies, etc. Great healthy option for lunch and for people needing that clean pre/post workout meal - thank you Natureworks! Fast and good and delicious. Super fulfilling. Good for vegan and protein looking people. The bare burger is really good and fulfilling. I got the wrap style. It's filled with lettuce/guacamole/sun seeds (not sure what's inside) but delicious. You can also order the party with pita/salad/....it's around ~$10. Strike three, Natureworks. As a (former) regular customer, I was initially willing to overlook some of the not-so-great things about some of the food choices here because I appreciated the fact that they sell healthy, filling meals at a reasonable price. So what if the baked falafel is dry & mushy? Who cares if the sauces are watered down as long as they're flavorful? Okay, so they strategically stuff brown, moldy lettuce into the bottom of their pita sandwiches as filler, then top it with the fresh, good stuff... but that's okay, I'll just toss out the bottom part. Well today, I had finally had enough of letting things slide for Natureworks after taking a bite into my Lexington & almost swallowing a big pointy piece of plastic from a bread loaf sealer. Like I said, strike three. There's no excuse for negligence that could've put my life at risk. I'm never ordering from here again. read more
I got the Farmers Market Protien Plate. Mmmmm warm cucumbers :P I thought I was adding the turkey burger along with the grilled chicken. Nope, only turkey burger; which is this substantially bizarre odd mix of processed food and texture. Have you ever been lied to by a vegan? I felt like that. It might have been turkey, may have very well been been soy turkey substitute. Spongy, soggy, salty, and a taste you can't quite put your finger on. The 5 egg whites on the bottom wasn't so bad, but I wonder how it got there. How did they cook it and still have it fit perfectly on the bottom of a throw-out plastic bowl. I really hope they didn't cook it in the plastic. I got a side of guacamole which was about as average of a guacamole it's starting to become a stereotype, I ate all of it regardless. I ordered through delivery.com and realized afterwards that I could have saved a buck ordering through seamless (surprisingly). I received my $13 order at my desk 1-1/2 hrs after ordering. But get this... I placed my order, a little later my co-workers asked what I was doing for lunch, I told them, they said, good idea we'll check it out. Two of my friends went there, ordered and came back to the office, ATE, used the washroom, and then talked about what they ate. AND THEN MINE ARRIVED LOL! Was it bad? Nah, not entirely, but it was not attractive enough to deem "tasty looking". I'm not even complaining about the delivery time it's lunch time in midtown, what would I expect! Just don't advertise 30-45 minute delivery time. I work at the empire state building, not hard to find. I will probably try it again, because it was a unique healthy dish; but eat in or take out (not delivery) and I'll update my stars and review. read more
