I was walking through Hell's Kitchen and needed a snack that I could travel with and I came upon Juice Generation. I have passed this location many times but never stopped in. A smoothie sounded like the perfect snack so I headed inside. Juice Generation is a small shop, mostly meant for take out orders. There is a small counter in the front you can stand at, but for the most part it's just a space for customers to wait and the counter and workspace behind it. To the right is the menu. The decor is really fun, centering on the brand logo and New York City itself. The place was super clean and organized. I was quite impressed. I wound up ordering the Peanut Butter Split consisting of Plant Milk, Peanut Butter, Banana and Frozen Coconut Milk. The staff was friendly and whipped the smoothie up very quickly. The Peanut Butter Split is perfect if you are into peanut butter and banana flavors. It was also not so thick that you would give yourself a headache drinking it. I really enjoyed it! Juice Generation is one of those places you can't miss - you know what you're going to get and the quality is decent. I decided to check out this location while walking nearby. The storefront on 9th avenue is very small with very limited seating but the vibes are great. The staff is helpful in letting me know what the menu has to offer. The fresh pressed juices are good and I love how the smoothies don't have any added sugar. Something else to note is that they do have food options - they're limited but there's still a decent chunk to choose from. Plus they come with protein too. No weird chunks or icy slushy vibes. - this is the rise and grind that has chocolate protein powder, almond milk, açai, cocoa powder, a banana and some random roots lol - despite the ingredients it was so nutty. I think it was the combination of the banana and chocolate. It was delicious. This one was no different - although Mr. Greengenes supposedly has mango and banana in it, it didn't taste much like anything. It wasn't bad but it wasn't good; it kinda tasted like grass water. My online order was prepared promptly but I didn't know it was ready (did not get a notification) and I didn't know it was sitting behind the counter until I asked for it. I've always liked drinking green smoothies because I feel like I'm getting in my daily veggies for the day without having to eat a massive salad. I've tried both their green smoothies (Mr. Greengenes and Hi-Fibe), with a stronger preference of Mr. Greengenes (with a choice of almond or coconut milk) because it's less green-y taste. The cool thing about the hi-fibe is instead of throwing entire cucumbers in the smoothie they JUICE it first. I've read a lot in the comments about how pricy the drinks are. I agree the price is hefty, but you definitely get your money's worth -- they really jam pack the blender with loads of kale (amongst other fruits and veggies). Would I get it everyday? I love Juice Generation, but 3.5-4 stars for this location because (1), if you order anything with apple, they will carelessly include the apple seeds into your smoothie/juice even though apple seeds are considered toxic to humans, (2), if you order hot drinks, the lid will pop open somewhere along your trip, and (3), they used to give you any extra juice/smoothie from your order in a small cup so not to waste anything but lately they have not been that consistent. Nonetheless, the customer service here is friendly and I just love how they use real, fresh, and organic products in their juices, smoothies, acai bowls, and vegan foods...and plus, nothing is watered down. Their Acai Bowls are not it. This was my first time getting an Acai bowl from JG. I thought their Acai blend was natural, but their Acai puree has absolutely no taste. Which prompts me to guess that their Acai puree is artificial. Natural ingredients tend to keep their flavor longer than artificial ingredients. This Acai bowl was the equivalent of eating fruits with crushed ice. I don't know if maybe the person who made my bowl, might have just added way too much water when blending, but my All-Star Açaí bowl, was bland and lacked flavor. As I was drinking it, it was very gritty ... almost like there was sand in the smoothie. My guess is that the veggies used for the smoothie weren't thoroughly cleaned. It tasted good but I couldn't get over the grittiness. There were also two separate days I went in for a steamed drink of theirs, and the steamer broke both times... they offered me a refund or if I wanted it cold both times and I took it cold because I didn't want to waste what they made.
