For a deli this nice in Manhattan, the prices are amazing! I ordered a veggie burger and it came with fries for less than 15 dollars. I loved the food it was really good and the seating area was nice. They had many sauces available and the wait wasn't long at all. Deli is good, person who makes your food isn't. If you speak Spanish, you get premium treatment.. if you do not, well good luck to you. My experience has been mostly negative, few times it was positive and I am grateful for. I've witnessed the person making the sandwiches and food was over the top with someone (multiple people) whom he was sharing the native tongue with (Spanish) that's amazing and I have zero, absolutely zero issues with that. However when came my turn I was greeted with the most I welcoming grunt, then proceeded to be annoyed at my requests for MY sandwich that I'm going to pay for no matter the amount.. with each request that I made for my sandwich, the person grew increasingly frustrated, sucking his teeth, making sounds. Eventually the sandwich was completed, now comes the part that set me over the edge.. The guy just flips the sandwich upside down and tosses it on a deli sheet and wraps it up loose as oppose to others who speak Spanish whom he has a better _____ with, their sandwiches were made with the utmost care and love and respect.. As if my requests to make a sandwich to my liking was an inconvenience for him. I apologize, didn't realize you didn't want to make my food. I was offered a discounted price for the sandwich to which I refused, I refused to pay less and give the assumption that it is okay to treat others food like crap and treat others like crap and a small monetary compensation would suffice and overlook the problem at its core.. Square Deli, you have a good Halal menu, myself and colleagues come here for that option. Nothing square about this place. Recently started working in the area and SO happy I have this gem right down the street. I walked in and went through the (huge) menu and picked out so many sandwiches I just had to try so I knew I'd be having lunch here often just from the options alone. The salads are super delicious and won't break the bank. They even chop it for you if you ask! What's also wonderful is the super friendly service. Everyone here is so freakin' nice and genuinely happy to be feeding you. I got the Tuscan Turkey wrap and ohhhhh man. Portion was perfect and the gouda cheese was melted so deliciously. I almost feel like I shouldn't write this review so that people don't find out about Square Deli simply because I like how quick the line goes right now, but for you Yelp, I'll reveal my neighborhood secrets. This is one of my regular rotation spots for lunch, I'd say at least once every other week. I've never gotten a bad order and prices are super cheap for how clean the place is and how good the food is. I usually do wraps or sandwiches, but the breakfast food always looks good. Both of the cooks (its always the same two guys when I come in) and the cashier are super nice and keep things moving at a perfect pace. I love this place ! I get breakfast here before work and really enjoy their oatmeal and smoothies ! They let you add toppings to the oatmeal like berries and nuts and the toppings are always fresh ! The night shift worker claimed that it should arrive by 12:45 PM in the noon the next day (today). I woke up and waited for my order. I called them finally and asked, a lady picked up and said she received the order; however, she would not deliver it over simply because she was not there at that time at night and she is 'confused' as to why this didn't go through, claiming to me that I have already gotten my order, which is bullshit. I've heard of places not being vegetarian friendly but this is taking it to another place. This place is great with one exception. A couple of the newer cooks (all men) come off as pretty rude. Recently, each time I've ordered a vegetarian item (right off their menu board) it's been met with a chuckle and the 'joke' gets shared with another cook. I don't get it? I'm clearly missing something and I have the sneaking suspicion the joke is at my expense.
