a bagel sandwich with cream cheese

RATING: 6.7/10 PRO TIP: If you want your bagel untoasted, make sure to ask because the default i think is to toast the bagel. Get a discount if you work at LHGV EVERYTHING BAGEL SCALLION CREAM CHEESE + EGG Sans the egg, this is my standard order. LHGV workers next door get a discount so don't forget to mention it. Don't get me wrong, the bagels here aren't bad but the competition is so stiff when it comes to NYC bagels and it's hard to impress. They will scratch the itch and you won't regret it for sure. The bagel comes toasted by default, and I got them in the morning and they were still kind of soft. Not sure if they make their bagels in house or not. Overall a good add to the neighborhood but not a destination spot. FINAL CATEGORY: OK (terrible / bad / OK / good / great / excellent)

Bagel Rx's turn. Let's start with a little background. I pass by Bagel Rx quite frequently. Before it opened about a month ago, I was hoping to be one of the first to review. Unfortunately I wasn't. Instead there were 2 bad reviews commenting on service. I thought that was unfortunate since bad reviews can kill a business. Every business goes thru opening jitters so to bang em hard out of the shoot I think is a little unfair. Thats why I waited. Now for my review. First of all, clean and bright. You can order and pay at the kiosk or at the counter where a smiling young man was ready to assist. Ordering my test bagel, toasted everything with butter was prepared quickly while the cashier poured my large hot coffee. Self service counter contained the various creamers. Also were the sweetners which included Sweet N Low. Why do I call that out? Many businesses have abandoned my sweetener of choice and went solely with Splenda. Have we not paid attention to the news about artificial sweeteners being bad. At least saccharine is tried and true. Took a lot to give cancer to rats with Sweet N Low. More than I would ever consume in a lifetime. Sorry for digressing. Back to our regular reviewing.... Onto the morning meal. Right amount of crunchy on the outside and softness on the inside made for a delicious bagel. Coffee was hot and fresh. So as I sat at table outside consuming my breakfast, I watched a steady stream of people come and go getting their morning coffee. So before I rank them in my top bagel list, I will visit again for a final evaluation. For now they are a yes and will come back again.

    Egg everything bagel (my favorite)!

Best bagel I had in New York. Fluffy and had a good crust. Amazing ratio for BEC. Coffee was excellent too!

The meat to egg ratio was perfect, they were very generous in how much bacon they put, I wasn't fighting to scrounge for meat in my bagel.

A smoothie sounded like the perfect snack so I headed inside. Juice Generation is a small shop, mostly meant for take out orders. There is a small counter in the front you can stand at, but for the most part it's just a space for customers to wait and the counter and workspace behind it. To the right is the menu. The decor is really fun, centering on the brand logo and New York City itself. The place was super clean and organized. I was quite impressed. I wound up ordering the Peanut Butter Split consisting of Plant Milk, Peanut Butter, Banana and Frozen Coconut Milk. The staff was friendly and whipped the smoothie up very quickly. The Peanut Butter Split is perfect if you are into peanut butter and banana flavors. It was also not so thick that you would give yourself a headache drinking it. I really enjoyed it! This is a great stop if you need a quick drink, smoothie or snack.

The storefront on 9th avenue is very small with very limited seating but the vibes are great. The staff is helpful in letting me know what the menu has to offer. The fresh pressed juices are good and I love how the smoothies don't have any added sugar. Something else to note is that they do have food options - they're limited but there's still a decent chunk to choose from. Plus they come with protein too. I liked how my bowl had all the fixings and the pastry was "guilt-free" The prices are a bit hefty but for fresh juice and a yummy sweet treat, I'd be back for more.

I don't know why but something just same over me and having a juice beverage sounded correct - it must have been the nice weather that has finally hit NYC. Anyway, we headed over to check it out. JG sells a variety of juices and smoothies in several flavor combinations. Some of them are fruit-based, some are milk-based, and some have additions to help with immunity, detox, etc. Since I'm not a regular juice or smoothie drinker, I was looking for something with flavors I liked and not loaded with calories. I found that in the Cherry C Monster - this contained cherries, pineapple, dragon fruit, banana, and orange juice. The smoothie was quite good - lots of cherry flavor and surprisingly not too sweet. Service was fast and efficient - they're pounding out those smoothies at a rapid pace so my order was ready in no time. Overall, I had a good first experience at Juice Generation - I don't think it will be a go-to based on my tastes, but if the mood catches me I would definitely return.
