A solid bagel, no question. As someone who takes their bagels seriously, I wouldn't crown it the city's best--but it absolutely doesn't deserve hate. Love the option for vegan cream cheese, but I see what some of the other reviews meant when they said the bagels tasted a bit doughy. I tried the rainbow bagel and it tasted a bit like play doh. It's possible that taste came from the excessive amounts of food coloring necessary, but I'm not sure. The main reason I'm giving a 3/5 is because after eating the bagel I felt extremely sick. The organic ones were actually nice and crisp when I took it home to toast them. The mango cranberry cream cheese is way over priced I think. For $2.75, I got about a third of the small half pint size container. They weigh them and that's all I got. The colorful bagels are priced like desserts but worth the change if having colors. They have a discount for NYU students with an ID but even still it's very expensive! They usually have a long wait and their system is very disorganized. I appreciate that there is quite a bit of indoor seating available and there is a clean restroom in the back too. Their bagels are big, the hubs and I were able to share one and were very full. As far as consistency, these bagels have a nice outer layer but the middle is on the tougher side. It would be nice if they were a bit softer. As far as flavor, they were OK. There are definitely better bagels around NY, but this place is conveniently located in East Village.
