This has become our go-to neighborhood bagel and breakfast place with their Latino background. They have a perfect balance of bagels and Latin inspired flavor like breakfast burritos in quesadillas. Everything I've had there has been quite tasty. It's a small shop, so don't expect a lot of seating. Also, it could be a bit hot in there in the summer, so just plan accordingly. Came across this spot as I was walking around the area and was hungry. I had never heard of this spot before. Walked in and did not know what to expect from here. Their menu looked extensive but I just went with a sesame bagel not toasted with scallion cream cheese. It seemed like alot of people here got breakfast sandwiches, they looked good from the people I saw eating them. I was surprised at how the bagel was pretty doughy/ soft which I like. The scallion cream cheese had just the right amount of scallions in it. There is outdoor and indoor seating, way more tables outside though. There is an open kitchen so all the smells from the kitchen you can smell when you walk in. It's a bit much for me. read more

Tried my usual bagel here (everything bagel with scallion vegan spread and tomatoes) and it wasn't bad but it wasn't the perfect bagel. I wish the everything bagel had salt as one of the seasonings because it was missing some flavor and salt would've brought it together nicely. Sofia's is a cute bagel place in west village. There's maybe 3-4 small tables inside with good lighting since it's got big windows. It does feel more like a takeout place since the space is limited. I ordered the Sofia's bagel and it came out really quick. The person at the register was also kind and helpful as well. The toasted bagel was crispy and warm, not too hard. Sorry to say it's a 2. While I always want new businesses to succeed I have to be unbiased in my reviews. Place is nice overall with 2 2 person tables inside and 10 2 person tables outside to sit at. Service-despite having 4 guys preparing the food and 2 cashier stations things went kinda slow. Now onto the food. Coffee was good with self service opportunity to moo it and sugar it. For me that works well. The bagels, not so much. A little too chewy and a sparse amount of cream cheese. Also, a bagel with a shmear and a large coffee- just short of $12 bucks. No thank you. I'm gonna equate it to this analogy being the US Open is in action. A 100 or so players show up to play in the Open. Only 64 make the cut to qualify into the first round. $6.79 for a sesame bagel with plain cream cheese. The bagels are flat and not nearly as large or fluffy as a typical New York bagel. They also barely added any cream cheese. I would've been disappointed if I paid the standard $4 for this, but nearly $7 is ridiculous. And they don't list the price on the menu because they know they are price gouging. Surprised to see some reviews noting poor service. I have never experienced that, but I only buy bagels and vegan cream cheese here, and haven't eaten there at all. I'm always greeted with a smile and they always doublecheck to make sure I really want the VEGAN cream cheese! Yes, absolutely, because it is the best I've had, both in consistency and taste. Go for the scallions, you won't be disappointed. Bagels are on par with Murray's, but no line and less expensive. I've been here twice now - two days in a row! It strikes me as a wonderful family-run business. They're so friendly. The food is GREAT - I've tried both the burrito version and now the bagel (pictured). I'd think of the bagel are more akin to a European style (more bread-like than a boiled NYC bagel), but it's still delicious. Less dense than a typical New York bagel, which I actually prefer. Portion size is solid. I'm thrilled to see it gather a small crowd since this space has struggled for several businesses in the past. A new neighborhood gem! It can take almost ten minutes to get a bagel with cream cheese even when it's not crowded. I'm giving 1 star because they don't have 0. New York takes pride in having the best bagles and we do. This establishment has the audacity to call themselves new york bagles. I am a west village resident foodie. I asked them if they bake the bagles at the spot, which they said yes. This was a lie and they use pre made bagles with pre made dough. What they ha eis not bagles. It is the kind of bagles that you accept eating at the airport. It was cold, hard, with a cweird chewed consistency. It is the worst bagle I had in new york city. Not the mention they do not habe a proper ventilation system, and they fry bacon and onions in a 20x12 square foot place. After I got up from my table after having this terrible experience.
