Buffalo Chicken Stuffed Bagel
Jeff M.

Moonrise Bagels 58 W. 8th. St. New York, NY 10011 Viral Buffalo Chicken Stuffed Bagel This chain location has gone viral on social media because they sell bagels stuffed with a specific filling. On a positive note, the bagel was hot and doughy. It was served in a timely manner. But, I honestly was not impressed with the inside filling. Some of the buffalo chicken chunks weren't fully cooked and it tasted as if it was in the fridge. There was also an up charge for a dipping sauce, which is unfair because this bagel already costs $11. If you decide to explore this location, I would recommend placing the order to go because seating is limited to a ledge, 2 indoor tables and an outdoor table. While stuffed bagels are a unique concept, I feel it was highly priced and overrated. #moonrisebagels #stuffedbagels #buffalochickenstuffedbagel #viralstuffedbagels

I have no idea how they stuff the bagel but the bagel itself and the filling was perfect. And it's pretty hefty too. It's kind of hard to eat and is messy which is a minus. The spicy sauce wasn't my favorite. I got the egg and cheese. Eggs were fluffy and good cheese flavor. Service was so nice.

So Ive been to the Catskills location and I had to try this location. First, its small and quaint inside. It looks like a newly built store. It's super inviting inside. There aren't really any seats. There's like a bench seating and a seat or two outside. The place is really a grab and go spot. The concept of the stuffed bagels is a great idea and they have the frozen bagels as well. So, I had the Pastrami with Everything bagel. The bagel itself tasted super fresh and better than the other location I went to. My only gripe is that the pastrami was super salty inside. I had to take it out because I couldn't eat all of it. It was otherwise very good. My friend had the Vegan bagel and loved it. I love the concept, I just wish they had a few more options like some egg whites options and maybe a cinnamon raisin option. This place is definitely something you want to eat when you're super hungry and want to indulge.

Got a bacon, egg and cheese bagel. I asked for no cheese but they said they were already made. They also asked me if I wanted seeds, so I went with Sesame. The bagel is massive, hot and fresh and was ready pretty quickly. Moonrise is extremely tiny and only has 2 small tables near the window. So I recommend taking your bagel to go. I'll definitely come back to try more of their bagels!

I went during the week and the wait wasnt bad I only had 2 people in front of me. Not many seats I believe 4 inside and a few outside all were taken so I took mine to the park. I got the everything bagel with sausage egg and cheese and it was OK it didnt live up to the hype for me and it was $11 I think i would prefer a bodega bagel but the sauces were great I really enjoyed the chili sauce and would get it again. The service was quick and they even sell frozen bagels by the bag.

Such a cool concept! Hot fresh stuffed bagels !!! We got the last egg and cheese everything bagel and it was pipping hot and DELICIOUS! The Mooney sauce to dip it in was delish too. Very tangy and herby. Amazing vibes inside the place, great music and even greater staff. They were so kind and lovely. Not much seating just by the window and two small outdoor tables. 1000/10 would come again!

Really unique addition to NYC's bagel scene. I got the pizza stuffed bagel in everything and plain bagel, no sauce. I was pleasantly surprised by how non overwhelming the bagel was. It had the taste of a pizza slice without the sluggish, oily aftertaste of one while also preserving the essence of a bagel. The bagel itself was really soft also, with the right amount of crisp as if you're eating a pizza crust. Would definitely come back to try their other flavors. Service was quick and very efficient as well. There's a couple of spots to eat inside but realistically plan to take your bagel elsewhere to eat

Innovative concept for making a bagel. They stuffed the usual bagel sandwich ingredients inside the bagel. I got the egg and cheese kind. It came out fast and piping hot. I enjoyed dipping it in ranch and house dipping sauce. Service is great. The staff is very welcoming.

Ambiance (2/5): There were only 2 tables that can fit 2 each and then a standing sliver to stand against the wall for 3 people to stand. No bathroom. Service (5/5): The bagels came out extremely fast. Ran out of plastic knives to cut the bagels. Food (3/5): There was the novelty of having a stuffed bagel to give this place a try. I really enjoyed the bagel itself, which was dense, chewy, also soft. The downfall was the stuffing which was wildly unevenly stuffed. I got bites of just bacon, tiny bits of egg, then only egg, then nothing... For $11, you can definitely get a normal breakfast bagel with much more stuffing to make it worth. Fun to try though!

The best bagel in the city. This is insane. Egg bacon and cheese on everything with the chili sauce is so crazy good. It's stuffed with warm bread and egg. It kinda tastes like eating a pretzel with a pizza and a bagel all at the same time. I will be back.

Moonrise Bagels W 8th - 9 Buck disappointing Eggplant Parm Bagel that's boring and not worth it

Read about Moonrise Bagels opening in December with their stuffed bagels. As a native New Yorker, weaned on echt Kosher bagels and Kossar's bialys, wanted to try it out on my next daytime trip downtown. Noted they closed early based on whether they were sold out, however arrived at around 10:30 but still had a short, slow line that extended outdoors - it's a small storefront with hardly any seating. Have to say, whatever hype they stirred attracted some obnoxious, IG/Tiktok obsessed, FOMO tourists that dissuade us locals and kills the pleasure of being a customer - however, I still persisted figuring at even at that off-hour the line would be the shortest. My overall reco is absolutely NOPE, not worth it... go elsewhere! Moonrise Bagels stuffed concoction is a bloated, overpriced gimmick that, if you consider yourself a foodie and/or value your money, won't find deliver anything worthwhile! My experience - Ordered the $12 Pastrami Reuben, $9 Cheese Pizza (red sauce, mozzarella, asiago, provolone, basil, oregano), and daily special $9 Eggplant Parm Stuffed Bagels. (Note - You can choose which type of bagel you want stuffed, e.g., Everything.) What you (like me) will notice first - being stuffed means there is not much room for the filling. In fact, the Pizza bagel was barely filled! (See pic - a real, rip-off!) While best of the three was the Reuben, it was nothing to write home about or post online (except to complain). The other two were just ridiculously priced. Considering that Pizza Stuffed Bagel cost so much, you'll have much more to enjoy with two slices at fantastic West Village pizzeria's like Joe's! My reco to Moonrise Bagels - Lower your prices in line with what you're giving your customers before further word gets out that your original product is out of synch with what your asking people to pay. Hard to believe that locals will repeat a visit given your competition. You may want to also have product available late at night when hungry drunk people are heading home from nearby bars and not paying attention to what they're putting on their credit card.

Moonrise Bagels on W 8th St

After trying Moonrise Bagels at Bagel Fest last year and then seeing them featured on an ABC News - Neighborhood Eats segment, I made it my mission to get some of those stuffed bagels. Their newly opened store is conveniently located in the Village on W 8th St, east of 6th Ave, easily accessible from the A,B,C,D,E & F trains. When I arrive around 11am, I see that tons of people also saw it on the news because there is a line of about 20 people on the sidewalk and about a dozen inside waiting to order or pick-up. The gentleman ahead of me kindly shared his menu with me, so I could figure out what to order. The line moved pretty fast as people came out with their hauls. There is a simple procedure hung above the register: 1) Choose your stuff (BEC, SEC, VSEC, PatRueb, BuffChick or Pizza) 2) Choose your seeds (plain, everything, sesame, poppy or onion) 3) Choose your sauce (house moonie, ranch, chili aioli) +$1 ea or +$2 for all 3 4) Get stuffed I was excited when I got to the front, but was dejected that they had sold out of the 2 popular flavors, Pastrami Reuben and Cheese Pizza. So I ended up with a Bacon, Egg & Cheese (Everything), a Sausage, Egg & Cheese (Sesame) & a Buffalo Chicken (Onion). Each stuffed bagel is individually clamshell boxed. Even with walking in the cold back to the office, the bagels were still warm and the cheese was still gooey. They tasted just like a sandwich that was mashed together, which is novel, but I think I'd rather have them as a traditional sandwich instead. I didn't get any of the dipping sauces, so that might have enhanced the experience. Their dough is mixed and rolled up in Poughkeepsie, trucked down to the Village in the wee hours of the night (hence their name) and boiled & baked on the premises. That good ol' NYC tap water is what makes NYC bagels the best. Yes, they are pricey ($11/bagel). Yes, there will be a line (but it moves fast). Yes, they are unique, gimmicky & delicious, so they're worth a try. Yes, get there early because once they sell out, you'll have to come back the next day. But, there is nothing like a warm NYC bagel in the morning and even better when it's stuffed with tasty stuff.

Moonrise Bagels is one of the most exciting new food spots to hit Manhattan. It's amazing to see the journey from a small, creative operation to a modern concept in NYC and they've done it without losing what makes it special. These aren't your average bagels. The stuffed bagels are full meals on their own, packed with bold, comforting flavors you'd normally expect from a late-night cart or diner, all wrapped inside perfectly chewy, hand-rolled dough. Every bite feels intentional, indulgent, and satisfying. The space feels fresh and welcoming, the service is fast, and the quality is consistent. This is how you bring a unique idea to the city and execute it right. If you're in Manhattan, this spot is absolutely worth the visit just get there early because they sell out fast.

FOOD: We ordered a bag of 3 bagels-- everything, poppy seed & salt. The bagels were cute, medium sized and served warm/hot. We chose the scallion cream cheese which came in a lil container. Apparently the bagels are not made in the traditional manner, but they were still delicious with great texture and taste. We also ordered the tea (ok) and strawberry lemonade (yum). We enjoyed our bagels on the little countertop area outside. OVERALL: Definitely recommend! A different bagel experience than some other places (as in, those places where you are served bagels topped with cream cheese and other things) but we enjoyed the simplicity of the bagels and controlling the amount of cream cheese.
