I grabbed bagels here on a Saturday morning and the line was very long - probably a 15-20 minute wait. To assist with the line, workers take your order while you're in line. We finally got the bagels and they were underwhelming especially for the price. I prefer the bagels at PopUp Bagel. Additionally the shop style is just a typical bagel shop, nothing fancy.
Stopped by for bagels with a friend on a Saturday at 1pm and waited around 25 mins which wasn't too bad. There's a couple small tables inside and we snagged one and sat there to eat. I got the el chapo sandwich bagel and couldn't taste any chipotle mayo, it was pretty dry I wouldn't get it again. My friend's bacon egg and cheese looked great! Wish I ordered something else. Wouldn't recommend the el chapo but I would go back and try a new style, lots of good options.
A truly huge bagel that will keep you filled up throughout the day! I came to this location on a Thursday morning, and even though there were a lot of folks waiting, the line wasn't too bad compared to its competitors. Similarly to others, this is designed to be a quick grab and go but there are a couple of tables if you need a place to eat your food. When you come in, you'll need to go to the back to order with their employee, who will write down your order and name on a slip. Once you get the slip, you go to the register to pay. In total, I paid $16 for a Koch on an everything bagel and waited around 10 minutes with about 8 people ahead of me. The bagel itself, as I mentioned, was gigantic and packed. The Koch is filled with two eggs, scallion cream cheese, and pastrami. The bagel itself was a typical NYC bagel but didn't really have any interesting textures or profiles that made it unique. The inside overall made it a hearty meal. While the pastrami was slightly dry, I still think it made for an overall good breakfast choice.

The place is empty when I get there (read: no line) with 5-6 people working. I order a Pastrami lox w/ capers, tomato, onion ($20) with a drip coffee with (as usual) the least generous splash of oat milk which they charge a dollar extra for ($5.50). To spend almost $26 on a grab and go breakfast, even if it has lox, is not a small amount. The first time they get the order wrong even after I say pastrami lox multiple times and they remake it (it takes way too long considering what happens). The second time, they make the pastrami lox but forget all the toppings - which of course you py extra for. I trust they did it right this time and realize when I am sitting down to eat in Tompkins Square Park I go back and ask for a refund since they already made it incorrectly once. Feels sloppy and disrespectful at this point. They're not apologetic for the multiple attempts at making my order at all. I just bought my first home nearby so was hoping to continue to patron them weekly as a local but they objectively ride on reputation alone. Overpriced with little consideration for customers. Will be finding a new bagel spot and update this post when I find it! In response to owner reply: It is overpriced when you are providing one drop of oat milk every time and charging $1 for it. Fine charge $1, but the coffee shouldn't look black. Happens every time. I am someone is happy to pay standard or more price, as long as value is there. In this instance, value was not. Getting order wrong twice in a row, wasting both of our time, feels worthy of at least an apology. I am aware you are busy on weekends but as I previously noted, the location was empty when this occurred. Thank you. Last update: After my second note the owner offered for me to visit and get my order on the house. Appreciate the effort to make it right.
These bagels really are top notch. The cream cheeses are so good the chipotle bacon was amazing. The French toast bagel was so good. Sometimes we try sweet bagels they just don't hit and you wish you had gotten another savory but this place does the sweet super well. We ordered a scone and they threw it in for free. Very nice, but it was the driest most plain scone I've ever had. I think it was a couple days old and they were being nice.

This bagel was the first thing I ate after landing and it was heavenly. No words. Actually I changed my mind, I will elaborate. The bagel was perfectly crunchy on the outside and perfectly chewy on the inside. The cheese was perfectly melted. The bacon was perfectly crispy. The avocado was perfectly creamy. The eggs were perfectly cooked. You can start to see a pattern. Not only was the food amazing, but the service was great as well! I'm not sure I like the idea of a two-tired waiting system. I got a sausage, egg, and cheese on an everything bagel. The bagel was fantastic but I'm not a huge fan of the type of cheese they used. It was that plastic-y american cheese that sticks to the roof of your mouth. The vibe on the inside of this place reminds me of early oughts Panera. It feels like it's eternally a rainy day with Death Cab for Cutie playing.
We liked both of the bagels (everything bagel with lox, French toast bagel with espresso CC), very chewy. Definitely one of the popular spot, but they were efficient with taking order even though the line was very long.
Great NY bagels. Got an onion bagel with cream cheese and an onion bagel with cream cheese and lox to go. Authentic good taste and texture. The bagels are more bulbous than I'm used to; spherical between a baseball and softball in size but excellent nonetheless. If I were topping it myself, I'd cut it into 3 or even 4 slices. I'm looking forward to my next bagel!

The bagels are extremely fresh, chewy (but not too doughy), and are definitely not overshadowed by the other ingredients. I got the wheezer which is the best bagel sandwich I've ever had. I would maybe not get it toasted because the cream cheese can get a tad bit melty and it gets messy then. However, the bacon, egg, and chorizo are all so well cooked and seasoned. I ordered ahead because I figured they'd be slammed on a Sunday morning and came 10 minutes after the expected time, even so, I had to wait an additional 15 minutes for my order to be ready. That's just a warning if you're in a time crunch! I ordered a toasted everything bagel with the garlic/herb tofu spread, and it's a solid bagel. A bit dense, but chewy and nicely toasted. This was my first time trying a tofu spread and I honestly didn't love it. It lacks the tang that makes cream cheese what it is and I felt that the garlic/herb flavor was lacking. Tompkins will do for convenience, but it's not one I would seek out. read more

My friend and I wanted to try the limited edition Jeremy bagel, and it was good! Service was quick, despite it being busy inside! After a few days of ordering that godlike bagel and schmear, I was truly feeling like a New Yorker at this point. Day 3 of having bagels till I say enough is enough! (Said no one ever) This place is as hipster as it gets fyi. I mean just by looking at everyone walking in, it was the place to be. Lines out the door. We knew we're in for a treat here. Once it was our turn to order, I finally got a taste of what a real New Yorker is like. So basically you need to have your ENTIRE order taken in the beginning, no changes, no additions if you need to add something you gotta go back into the ordering line to have the guy revise your ticket, so that means no coffee at the cash register, you gotta order everything up front. So that was a bit of a hassle but I mean welcome to the beautiful US OF A, where some people are cool and some take their jobs WAY TOO SERIOUSLY. Now that we got that cleared out of the way. Onto the bagel, you already should know by now. Toasted everything bagel, smoked salmon, capers, scallion cream cheese, tomato and onions to seal the deal. And just a heads up, this is a massive bagel. It's YUGE! Out of all the bagels I had, this one was a football. I mean massive. Super healthy portion of fillings and the flavor top tier! Love, bite after bite. Also I can't leave out their epic cream cheese options. The most beautiful display of cream cheese you will ever see. Bravo Tompkins. You guys did well. Just sharpen up those service skills and you could have gotten 5 stars out of me. Respect goes a long way, mistakes happen and there's always room for improvement. Really tasty, hearty bagel sandwiches with nice amount of seasoning. The everything bagel and scallion cream Cheese were super flavorful but not too salty. The chorizo was nice and flavorful too! Bagel itself was kind of on the harder side so it had some chew. It would hit hard after a hangover or if you're super hungry :P Long line but they're pretty efficient with cycling everyone through. I tried the French toast bagel and it was probably one of the best bites of a bagel I've ever had. Very French toast-esque and lowkey wish I had gotten a plain French toast bagel instead of the plain bagel with pb&nutella AND triple berry cream cheese (my take on pb&j). Line moves fast, they have a very streamlined system. My bagel was good, tons of cream cheese which feels like the norm in NY. 1/4 of it ended up smeared on the parchment because I can't eat that much cream cheese. Very average, borderline bad bagel spot. Ordered a lox everything bagel, the lox was great, the bagel itself was hard, didn't taste fresh at all. I'm not sure I can say enough GREAT things about this place! AMAZING!! I want more every time I think about it. Super friendly and helpful staff, great vibes, amazing food.... How do you top that? Always hot and fresh! Few tips: know what you want before you go (I need to study the menu more, they have so many great options and I always change my mind) and during the weekend expect a line! This was still decently good but just not what we were looking for that morning. - Tofu cream cheese ($3): Must get! When my friend told me about this, I was skeptical but it definitely makes the whole bagel sandwich taste even better. This was the 2nd bagel but first good bagel I had during this trip to New York. I had a meeting near Tompkins Square Park so Tompkins Square Bagels was an obvious choice. I ordered a salt bagel with scallion bacon cream cheese and a hot tea. This is a busy place! Lots of people in and out. Great bagel! Crisp skin and nice and chewy. Super delicious but also super pricey. The staff there are so nice and recommended this combination because like every bagel shop in NYC, there are so many options. Got to enjoy their seating area too and it's super nice. They have Vegan as well as Gluten Free Bagel. They have two location one on Avenue A and the other one in Second Avenue and 12th Street. I think they bake their own but I'm not 💯 sure.
