Here for the first time yesterday and TBH a waste of time and money with limited choices. I wanted a whole wheat bagel with bacon scallion which they did not have, and it was so crowded that I will not be back!!
The line on a Sunday wasn't too bad and the wait was okay. However, the place was soooo warm it's like there's no AC on. The workers preparing the food looked miserable too. The cream cheese was a little melty as well...
Had to get bagels while I was in NYC and I'm so happy I found this spot. I had an everything bagel with scallion cream cheese & bacon omg it was delicious! The store was clean and organized. Service was super quick. I also tried the cold pressed strawberry and watermelon juice and it was soooo good.
Visited here during my first trip to NYC and had multiple people recommend Utopia Bagels - it did not disappoint! This place was packed and the line was going out the door, but the wait was worth it. I didn't have much time to review the menu before hand so I panicked and got a rainbow bagel with birthday cake cream cheese (something I can't just get at home where I live in Florida). Overall it was a great experience, though it would have been nice if they had more seating.
We made a stop here on our last day in NYC, just a short walk from our hotel, and it turned into the perfect final food memory of the trip. I had the French toast bagel with bacon, egg, cheese, and hashbrown, and it was outstanding. The bagel itself was perfectly chewy, and the combination of sweet and savory worked surprisingly well together. It was one of those sandwiches that feels indulgent but still completely balanced. Before leaving, I also picked up a dozen bagels to take home and somehow managed to pack them into my suitcase. After freezing and toasting them later, they held up incredibly well--still tasting fresh and satisfying, which says a lot about the quality. A simple stop, but an unforgettable one for a very NYC way to end the trip.
A must to start your journey through the city. TikTok put us on to this spot and they didn't disappoint. The options were lowkey endless for your bagel, and of course a bespoke coffee. Can't wait to come again!
Great bagels and a fun, customizable menu! The olive cream cheese was a standout- super flavorful and something a little different. I also tried the vegan burrito, which had good flavor but was on the smaller side and a bit dry. I love how many options they offer and that you can really build your own bagel exactly how you want it. As for drinks, the cold brew was solid, but the cappuccino didn't quite hit the mark for me.
probably the messiest bagel I've ever had, and I mean that in the best way - here we have an egg bagel with a sunny side up egg, jalapeno cream cheese, and turkey sausage. I asked for ketchup, thinking they'd throw a few packets in the bag, and they slathered that on too. it somehow worked. very well. - the egg was perfectly sunny side up and drenched the entire bagel. it blew all the ~oddly square factory energy~ eggs many bagel places use out of the water - the cream cheese was melting under the toasted bagel. it was more crunchy from the jalapeños than spicy. the serving size of it was wonderful - the bagel itself was a great size and chewy as it should be. the outside which should have that New York bagel hardness was the same consistency of the rest (even while toasted) which was a bummer
For what it's worth it's the items I ordered from Utopia Bagels were good, but when you end up paying $18 for a breakfast sandwich and latte, can the price really be justified? I ordered a vegan sausage, egg and cheese on everything bagel and almond milk latte. The bagel was average sized and for the price I imagined it would actually be a decent size. It tasted good despite my disappointment in the portions. The latte was good as well. The staff works hard! The shop was pretty busy for late morning. My order didn't take long to be made and all the staff I spoke to were friendly. The seating area leaves a little to be desired since the shop is so busy you'd wonder why they didn't design it to have more seating. I guess they're use to people grabbing their orders and leaving. I was grabbing breakfast before an appointment so I definitely needed to sit and eat. Luckily I caught the last open table by the exit, before I ended up leaving the shop. I ate quickly since I felt like occupying a table for longer than needed was unfair to anyone else in a similar situation. I recommend coming if you don't mind the prices and taking your order to go.
I ordered the Gluten free plain bagel with plain cream cheese, i asked for it to be double toasted. This bagel was crazy good. It was thick, super soft on the inside and really crunchy on the outside. 10/10
Yummy! Really enjoyed the egg salad and wheat bagel with matcha. I came on a Saturday around 2/3 and the place was packed, but I didn't have to wait too long in the service was pretty fast. My drink came out first and I was honestly really impressed with how good the Matcha is. Heads up, It is sweetened. There was not really anywhere to sit, but it was just me so I was able to squeeze in at the counter near the window, but it might be hard to get a seat if you have a group. Prices were pretty decent and I enjoyed everything will definitely come back to try some of the other bagels and drinks.
On this visit, I ordered a build-your-own-nova sandwich: a sesame bagel, scooped, with salmon, avocado, and lettuce. The portion of salmon and avocado was fairly generous, which I appreciated. The lettuce added a nice, fresh crunch, but it was your basic, watery iceberg lettuce that I'm not a fan of, so I'll skip it next time. I normally get pumpernickel bagels, but they were out of them on Uber Eats; the sesame bagel was equally good, though. Overall, I'm not particularly impressed with the bagels at Utopia and think there are better options out there. It's a solid bagel, but really not the best--something about the dough is just okay. If ordering again, I'd get the nova and avocado scooped on a pumpernickel or sesame bagel, or the Citi Fielder with no mayo.
Happened to be in the neighborhood and popped in for breakfast. I ordered the spinach feta egg white breakfast platter which comes with home fries and the choice of a bagel or toast on the side. As a heads up, the only option they had for toast was sourdough but you can ask for it to be toasted with a spread of butter. Overall, the dish was okay, although I was not particularly wowed by it. The egg white omelette was decent in taste, but it felt like there were more home fries than omelette lol! The home fries were nice - thinly sliced potatoes, with slices of green bell pepper. The service was good; I did not wait too long. The place was packed when I went (around 10am on a weekday), meaning there were no seats. So, waiting for the food gave me time to wait for a seat :) I like the ambience. There are a good number of outlets and a bathroom so I could see this being a good work spot. The music was catchy. A good selection of pop! Overall, the place gets the job done. 1) Food variety is good. They even have vegan options! 2) Affordable for the area ($12.95 for my breakfast platter). 3) And great location! I'll have to try the bagels next time!

As far as the bagels go, there's no difference between this location and the original in Whitestone. The bagels have that great balance of chewiness and crispness that Utopia does so well. That being said, the service feels chaotic. There are a lot of workers running around but the operation doesn't seem particularly efficient. There are plenty of bagel shops with fewer employees that manage to get orders out much faster, including the original Whitestone location. I stopped by around 1pm on a weekday, and there was only a party of two ahead of me. Even so, it still took more than 10 minutes just to get a toasted bagel with cream cheese. The bagels themselves are excellent, but I don't think I'd stop by if I had somewhere to be. read more
I was very excited to try Utopia Bagels after hearing so much hype surrounding it, but I was honestly disappointed. The line was long, but it moved pretty quickly which was a plus. That said, I think there are plenty of other bagel spots in the city that are better quality and a better value overall. I ordered my go-to: a bacon, egg, and cheese bagel with added scallion cream cheese. It was alright but the everything bagel itself was not the best. We also got a lox bagel, which was fine, but nothing memorable compared to other spots in the city. In total, we spent over $40 for two bagels and one juice, which felt excessive for the experience. In a city with endless amazing bagel options, I don't see myself coming back to Utopia Bagels anytime soon. read more

Clearly the place is popular with locals, hectic foot traffic (all the tables taken) and brisk food delivery service. I had the Citi Fielder which was turkey, cheese, avocado, etc on a sesame bagel. The overall experience was ho hum. The bagel was ok (I'll stick with Tompkins Square), the turkey and cheese were folded into a mass which resulted in unequal distribution, and it overall would have benefited from a little salt. If I lived here, I wouldn't go back. read more
Solid 4 stars. I haven't had good luck with finding bagels that aren't super chewy. On our last day in NYC, we walked a ways to Utopia bagels. It was busy but the staff seemed to manage it well like clockwork. We ordered the everything bagel with jalapeño cucumber cream cheese and ate it onsite. Just like the pizza, you have to eat the bagel then and there for the best taste and texture. The everything bagel was crispy, airy, and seasoned just right. The cream cheese was light, tangy, and fresh from the cucumbers. The combination overall was delicious. I devoured that bagel in minutes. So good. I'll definitely be back when I'm in NYC and in the area. read more

Utopia is typically my go-to bagel place around Midtown East. Quality bagels that are a good mix of doughy and soft with a crisp exterior. This location can get a bit crowded at the breakfast and lunch rush, but the line moves quick. Unlike many bagel spots, there is seating available to dine-in if desired. Not the best bagel I ever had, but definitely in the upper third of bagels in NYC. read more

Looking for coffee and Bagels on my first morning in NYC and this place was close to the hotel. Located on a busy corner this joint was hopping already at 7:45 in the morning. The line moved quickly and when it was my turn I was overwhelmed with bagel options! Prices are amazing (2$ a bagel) and the bagels are huge. Ambiance can be described as chic and clean. Bagels are chewy and the cream cheese is on point. read more

We went after seeing it on TikTok, and weren't sure what to expect. It did not disappoint. The bagels are fresh and hot, crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside the chive cream cheese is so amazing. I can't remember the name of the sandwich I got, but it had salmon, cucumber, and that chive cream cheese. It was so fresh and full of flavor. I wish I could've ate two of them. My Husband got more of a breakfast bagel. It was pretty good, but I still think that mine was better. His egg was nice, and the sausage was very well seasoned. I wish I lived in New York just to go to this place again. read more

I was a bit hesitant to go to a franchise location because I usually go to the OG location in Bayside/Franny Lew which is bomb. But I'm glad the quality of their products didn't go down. Place was poppin when we got there with a line out the door on a Sunday morning. However, things move quickly so not terrible. You also get to see how they freshly make the bagels as the line moves along so you know you aren't getting any stale bagels. And for being a Manhattan location, I'm surprised their bagels only cost $2 a pop. You could dine in but not too many tables and it can get pretty noisy with all the people waiting for their food so maybe not the best place to sit, eat and chat if you're part of a group. I got the Cheech with whole wheat everything bagel. It was just as good as the original location and it left me quite content for the rest of the day. The east river isn't too far from this location so you could definitely take out and walk over a few avenues and your food will still be warm. read more
Came back for the Zaru collab and loved the furikake bagel! It was good texture and flavor. The toppings on the bagels were also good just nothing super special. Out of the two I liked the roe one better than the salmon. Not really a fan of the zest and citrus forwardness of the salmon. Really like that this shop is really big and lots of seating tho! read more

Three locations and nationwide shipping for bagels made "the old fashioned way." This location in Queens is their original, founded in 1981. My Everything was chewy but not tough, toasted and satisfying to encircle a stacked Hawaiian (ham, melty Swiss, fresh avocado, and chipotle mayo) - hitting all the right notes. An absolute delight upon arrival to be greeted by smiling faces, fast service, and hot food that comforts like mom-made. read more
DOOOOO NOT GET THE LEX!!! There was WAY too much mustard i literally couldn't finish it. The bacon egg and cheese was ok. We ordered for pickup so maybe if u get it super super fresh it's better? But both the bagel itself and the sandwiches were mid or subpar. You're in New York, there's probably a better bagel. I've had better bagels in London this was actually so sad for me read more
Day 2 of becoming a New Yorker at heart. Today was one of those days, where you just snap your finger and say let's go! Originally, I had plans for another location but I'm glad we came here. Closer to Grand Central Station. That rush, that feel of let's go, let's go, let's go! Was in the air today. Once the Uber dropped us off in Midtown, I knew right off the bat we came to the right place. The early hustle and bustle on the streets, that aroma of fresh bagels in the air was enough to seal the deal. If you read my previous review, you would know it's smoked salmon or NOTHING. So I got THE WORTH IT bagel. And let me be honest, it was spectacular lemme get 14 more of those! Toasted everything bagel, Nova lox, SCHMEAR of scallion cream cheese! (Stepped it up today) tomato, red onion and capers. This bagel was truly memorable. After we ordered our goods, the lines started to fill up! That's when I knew we showed up at the perfect time. Get there early! That rush is no joke! Amazing sandwich, I can't phrase that enough. This one was God tier in my book. Super creamy, salmon smoked to perfection! Just look at that photo I posted. Utopia is a high quality bagel place. They have a large selection of fresh bagels and unique cream cheeses to choose from. Some of the bagels they offer include onion, french toast, garlic and jalapeno cheddar. Some of the cream cheese selections are oreo, birthday cake, blueberry, olive, and cinnamon apple. They even have vegan cream cheese made from tofu. They sell more than just bagels as well. Breakfast platters, hot and cold sandwiches, and soups are also available. And one of the more interesting novelties about this place is you can see the workers making the bagels. There is a see through glass wall where you can see the preparation process like when they are boiling and baking the dough. read more

I didnt realize that Utopia Bagels opened up a shop in Manhattan until recently. I knew I had to go. I lived in Queens for years and UB was a staple for us. Still the same delicious bagels, but now more accessible that I no longer live in Queens. read more
FRESH TASTEY BAGELS!!!! crunchy chewy and everything you could ask for. i've had the egg, onion, garlic bagels and none of them miss. they are pretty generous with the toppings but i will say bagels are on the smaller side? sometimes i can split a sandwich between 2 but here i gobble the whole thing up. usually there's a long line so come prepared! outdoor seating available under a tent/enclosed structure. read more

If I didn't try a bagel while I was in NY, I knew I would think about in my sleep for the rest of the year so this bagel spot being around the corner from my hotel was perfect! I immediately knew I wanted an egg and cheese bagel so I got the CHEECH and subbed for bacon. First bite and it was so good! The flavors were so rich and hearty! My mom got the salmon bagel and she ate every piece. I want to shoutout to staff at this restaurant too because I was so overwhelmed looking at the menu but the cashier took the time to explain everything to us and was very patient! Also everyone in the restaurant was nice too, we sat down and were immediately joined by two other women and they were so sweet. The restaurant was clean despite all the foot traffic! New York is one of my favorite places and I'd recommend this place again and again! read more
An everything bagel with vegan tofu scallion cream cheese! I enjoyed it and thought that it was flavorful! However, I've been to other bagel shops where they warm up the bagel and smear a generous amount of cream cheese. Service was quick! I like how there was seating available too and the bagel shop was definitely spacious compared to other bagel shops! read more

A coveted five star review for this amazing bagel place. Everything was hot and fresh and the lines move quickly but are definitely an indicator of how excellent does a bagel shop is. Reasonably priced crisp outside chewy interior it was nearly perfect. Huge variety of cream cheeses and options we got the bacon egg and cheese as well as the smoked salmon. We were able to get a table which was a value plus 100% recommend this is the best place close to Midtown. read more
When in NYC you need to eat a bagel. and that we did. There are many different places throughout the city and this was one place on our list of food places to try. The menu selection is huge. Service is great. The wait time is like any other busy place. You can get coffee to go with your bagels. Order and go or sit down and enjoy. Big windows to see the city life. read more
