The food is wonderful, and the staff are happy, pleasant, helpful and the vibe, overall, is great. People are complaining about the price. It's in one of the most expensive areas of the city. Finally made it to Utopia bagels after much hype. I've been to this location as well as the one in LIC, though I still need to try the original location in Whitestone/College point area to see how they compare. At one point, Utopia Bagels were known as the best bagels in NYC and I was really looking forward to this because I feel like the bagel game is fierce, and I've found plenty of my favorites so far. After trying a few times, I have to say that Utopia Bagels is a solid, good bagel but unfortunately far from my favorite. However, if you're looking for a classic, quintessential NY bagel, you will certainly find it here. I wonder if I come in the morning if it'll make a difference; each time has been around noon or so, but it looked like they were still making bagels. I ordered a vegan sausage, egg and cheese on everything bagel and almond milk latte. The bagel was average sized and for the price I imagined it would actually be a decent size. It tasted good despite my disappointment in the portions. The latte was good as well. The staff works hard! The shop was pretty busy for late morning. My order didn't take long to be made and all the staff I spoke to were friendly. The seating area leaves a little to be desired since the shop is so busy you'd wonder why they didn't design it to have more seating. I guess they're use to people grabbing their orders and leaving. I was grabbing breakfast before an appointment so I definitely needed to sit and eat. Luckily I caught the last open table by the exit, before I ended up leaving the shop. I ate quickly since I felt like occupying a table for longer than needed was unfair to anyone else in a similar situation. I first tried Utopia Bagels at BagelFest, where it was one of my favorites, so I was looking forward to this visit. I ordered a build-your-own egg sandwich on a toasted, scooped-out pumpernickel bagel with over-medium eggs, white American cheese, turkey, avocado, and spinach. While the sandwich was tasty and all the ingredients were fresh, the overall combination felt like a bit too much and was slightly too salty/oily. The bagel did become soggy where it met the fillings. I suspect the cooking method utilized too much oil or butter, and because the spinach was sautéed--which I wasn't expecting--it likely contributed to the moisture. For that reason, I wouldn't include the spinach in the future. I did, however, enjoy the way the eggs were over-medium. The bagel itself didn't taste quite as special as I remembered or as the hype suggests. Next time, I think I'll choose fewer cooked elements to make the sandwich less oily and salty, like sticking to a simpler egg, cheese, and avocado combination. As a heads up, the only option they had for toast was sourdough but you can ask for it to be toasted with a spread of butter. Overall, the dish was okay, although I was not particularly wowed by it. So, waiting for the food gave me time to wait for a seat :) I like the ambience. There are a good number of outlets and a bathroom so I could see this being a good work spot. The music was catchy. I can't remember the name of the sandwich I got, but it had salmon, cucumber, and that chive cream cheese. It was so fresh and full of flavor. I wish I could've ate two of them. I was a bit hesitant to go to a franchise location because I usually go to the OG location in Bayside/Franny Lew which is bomb. But I'm glad the quality of their products didn't go down. Place was poppin when we got there with a line out the door on a Sunday morning. However, things move quickly so not terrible. You also get to see how they freshly make the bagels as the line moves along so you know you aren't getting any stale bagels. And for being a Manhattan location, I'm surprised their bagels only cost $2 a pop. You could dine in but not too many tables and it can get pretty noisy with all the people waiting for their food so maybe not the best place to sit, eat and chat if you're part of a group. I got the Cheech with whole wheat everything bagel. It was just as good as the original location and it left me quite content for the rest of the day. The east river isn't too far from this location so you could definitely take out and walk over a few avenues and your food will still be warm. read more

Out of the two I liked the roe one better than the salmon. Not really a fan of the zest and citrus forwardness of the salmon. If I didn't try a bagel while I was in NY, I knew I would think about in my sleep for the rest of the year so this bagel spot being around the corner from my hotel was perfect! I immediately knew I wanted an egg and cheese bagel so I got the CHEECH and subbed for bacon. First bite and it was so good! The flavors were so rich and hearty! My mom got the salmon bagel and she ate every piece. First time trying Utopia Bagels!! I visited New York to spend time with my brother and discovered a new bagel spot. There was a line when I went but it did not take long to order. At first, I ordered a garlic bagel with plain cream cheese. It was really good and came out in a timely manner. The second time I went, I ordered 20 bagels. They were out of two bagels that I wanted so they replaced it with another one and also gave two more of the other flavor. It was a little upsetting but thank you to the employee who gave a little extra! I tried a pumpernickel bagel for the first time and it tasted just like the Cheesecake Factory bread!
