The weather was so nice today that my colleagues and I decided to take a little walk during lunch. One of them recommended we head to Juice Generation for some sips, and even though I'm not a juice drinker, I was intrigued. I don't know why but something just same over me and having a juice beverage sounded correct - it must have been the nice weather that has finally hit NYC. Anyway, we headed over to check it out. JG sells a variety of juices and smoothies in several flavor combinations. Some of them are fruit-based, some are milk-based, and some have additions to help with immunity, detox, etc. Since I'm not a regular juice or smoothie drinker, I was looking for something with flavors I liked and not loaded with calories. I found that in the Cherry C Monster - this contained cherries, pineapple, dragon fruit, banana, and orange juice. The smoothie was quite good - lots of cherry flavor and surprisingly not too sweet. Service was fast and efficient - they're pounding out those smoothies at a rapid pace so my order was ready in no time. Overall, I had a good first experience at Juice Generation - I don't think it will be a go-to based on my tastes, but if the mood catches me I would definitely return. read more

Stopped by this place bc it was close to my hotel and I was not disappointed. Service was great and there were many options to choose from. As a medical social worker seeing that was there was a sign for a CPR kit made my day! I've never seen this before and I think more places should follow suit! Stopped in the other day there, post a business meeting nearby. I live in the Midtown West area, and I'm not in this area that much, so I did not even realize that this Juice Generation lives here, so to speak! Yay! (Normally, I go to the one on 9th Avenue, in Hell's Kitchen.) It was so nice to find another Juice Generation, where I could make a purchase on my JG app, so it could count toward points that go toward receiving a free smoothie (plus, a free one on my birthday - hello)!!! : ) Anyway, finding this one was a pleasant surprise - it was surprising both that I ran across it, and stopped in for a much needed (and deliciously fresh and satisfying açaí bowl), and that it was so darn pretty. This is actually the loveliest looking JG into which I've been. It's like the prettier younger sister of the one in Hell's Kitchen....and way more spacious, too. The line was a bit long, yet the service was friendly and efficient. (Plus, to be fair, I stopped in at a quarter to 1 PM, which is peak lunch hour.) The standards at this location are subpar. I ordered a Protein Buzz smoothie and it was literally tasteless. The flavor did not come in as I drank it. I went back and expressed my dissatisfaction. I was offered the Mr. Greengenes® since they were getting ready to close. While waiting for my new order, I observed the the person making my drink had gloves partially ripped so his hand was exposed while grabbing the produe to prepare the smoothie Another associate went to help a different customer. She did not remove her gloves at the register and went right back to prepare his order with the same dirty gloves on. I had to say something. The guy offered to make my drink again when I pointed out the ripped gloves. Honestly, I accepted but the taste of the Mr. Greengenes® was also bland like ice and water. This review pains me because I really like this place. They make delicious items and the staff is super friendly. However there are a lot of things at play here that are not sustainable for a good business. First, they only have one door. The front door. So if they need to run out trash, they have to cut through the customers and go out the main entrance. So we have garbage getting dragged by while we're trying to eat or order. Second, I order ahead and am about a 15 minute walk to the location. I still wait ten minutes before leaving to give them time. And 99.9% of the time I come in to pick it up, the store is empty and my stuff is not ready. Pretty much every time. Today there were 200 people in line for some reason and the staff could not handle it. I mean, they struggle waiting on three people. I came to pick up and still waited another 25 minutes. To make it worse, the supervisor had a major attitude at the customers when we weren't giving anyone a hard time about the wait. Not our fault you're grossly inefficient. The guy in front of me waited over 30 minutes for a smoothie and when he said he just wanted to cancel and get refunded, they said they don't refund, you have to call corporate and request one. This is total bullshit, number one. And two, even if the employee was bluffing, I'm considering boycotting Juice Generation for good. You're going to provide shitty service and then refuse a refund? Tell us to call a corporate number we can never get through to? Screw that. Every place in NYC is the same now. Cannot hire anyone, let alone anyone competent. And provide terrible service, expecting tips galore. And won't even grant a refund. I'm ready to move to Jersey. read more

Not the best Juice Generation experience. I use to be such a fan of the shops around the city but they've changed the menu and I'm just not as impressed. A lot of the smoothies/bowls are filled with fruit and little to no protein items (I.e veggies, protein or avocado.) Skip this chain for a more local establishment. read more

I'm pretty sure all Juice Generation locations are clean and well kept but this one in specific is especially clean. In the afternoons is well light and the lighting provided by the store compliments the daylight and makes everything more appealing. It's a weird note, but everything just looks good. The store is relatively small so there's not any place for people to sit like the other locations (honorable mention: 63rd and lex location) but there's a table to take your shots or finish your purchase if you don't mind the standing. As for their menu everything is copacetic. All their smoothie bowls are bomb and as far as I know it's possible to add ingredients you've been craving to the bowl, no problem. Only issues that I have (but I've come to terms with) is pricing, it's expensive for a smoothie/health food shop. Also, the consistency of the smoothie bowl isn't great. My first bowl was more watery with thickness in the middle and I opened it up right at the table agains the window. However, my latest bowl was thiccc (which I like). Both tasted good but hey people make bowls differently. Overall, I enjoy a good Juice Generation bowl or "juicy gen" as I like to call it. read more

A go-to stop for me when in NYC for a healthy and quick breakfast. They have a really great selection of juices, smoothies, bowls and healthy snacks. A ton of options to choose from. My standard is the blueberry flax muffin and Get Ur Green On juice. Delicious, nutritious and filling. Depending on what time you arrive you may run into a bit of a line. At this point I've reviewed a few different juice places and truth be told, I'm finding it hard to tell the difference between them anymore. This one seemed to be on the pricier side, but their stuff is good. And they also had really friendly, upbeat staff. I always love that! I honestly forget which shot I did, but it came with an orange wedge to bite into right after and man if that didn't make all difference! It made the shot pop but also helped take away a bit of that initial bite. I bought two juices, one of which was definitely Supa Dupa Greens. I wish I had more to say, but it's green juice. Good green juice, but nothing in particular stands out. The Hella Good Greens Acai bowl was also really tasty. I'd add extra granola next time, they just put a sprinkling and I like it when there's enough to add a crunch. I will definitely come back. ETA: OK, I know I said it's hard to tell the difference but this has become one of my favorite places. The granola they put on the Hella Good Greens is fine (too much and it's a crunchy mess, learned that the hard way). Their fruit, particularly their blue berries, is some of the freshest I've found yet. Best acai bowl I've had. Add strawberries for 50 cents, it's worth it! So far none of their locations are truly convenient for me, this happens to be a location I'll be hitting up for a short time, but they're so good I would honestly come a little out of the way over another juice place. read more

I wouldn't be able to tell you all the differences between Juice Generation, Pressed Juice, Juice Press, The Juice Shop, in that they all seem to feature a wide range of abnormally expensive juices and various cleanses (which just seems like an overpriced way of torturing yourself in the name of doing something that your liver already does for you free of charge). I will say though that Juice Generation's Supa Dupa Greens is one of the tastier green juices out there and nothing gives the person on the subway next to you the same pickled expression as when you bust out a bottle of bright green juice and scarf it down. Juice Generation's saving grace in the desert of Midtown is their acai bowls. I've eaten every one of them. Am I proud that I plunked down close to $12 for a smallish bowl that consists primarily of fruits and berries? No. In my defense, I tend to eat the same things over and over again until I get massively sick of it and that's what happened to Seamless sushi, Thai, and chopped salads. Best: I'm biased because I love nut butter so I gravitated towards the Almond Butter Bliss and Peanut Butter Acai. These bowls are on the small side but, wow, do they keep you full. They're also the caloric equivalent of a hefty burger so satiety is not a surprise. Not so great: Not sure if the jackfruit in the Jackpot I got was a little on the off side but it permeated the taste of the whole thing so that every other bite tasted like bitter jackfruit. Took a few bites, gave up, tossed a $12 lunch, and slunked over to Chop't. Once in a blue moon, their bowls tend to be too watery. Also, their smoothies are great for a pre-workout snack. The worst thing in the world to me is working out on an empty stomach but I also can't eat anything resembling a full meal because I'll double over from cramps. The smoothies from Juice Generation are thick enough to actually feel quite substantive: I'm a fan of the Mucho Mango, the Peanut Butter Split (ask nicely and they'll sprinkle in some hemp granola in there), and the Joyful Almond (despite an irrational hatred of Almond Joys). I'd also be remiss if I forgot to mention the spicy mango roll (much better, in my opinion, than Beyond Sushi's Spicy Mang) and their baked goods. That's right, Juice Generation does what very few other juice shop does and actually offers carbs, despite the fact that they tend to sit there uneaten (sad face). The pumpkin + protein muffin and cold brew brownie have gotten me through more early-morning work meetings than I can count. Plus, they serve their wheatgrass shots with an orange-slice chaser. Once was enough for me (just to see exactly how big of a wallop wheatgrass actually is) but I appreciated the gesture. read more

I came here for lunch to get an acai bowl, as I walk past the store many times, but have never actually gone inside. The interior is super clean and modern, with white subway tile and wood accents. It seemed really fresh and organic which I really liked! The wait was a bit long. I went after 1:00 hoping the lunch rush would be over, but it still was a bit of a wait (15-20 min?) I got the pb&j bowl, because peanut butter and jelly is always a win in my book! It's pretty standard size for an acai bowl and it cost $11.65, which isn't crazy for midtown Manhattan. I would probably give this bowl a 7? It was good, but nothing too crazy. The ingredients tasted fresh, but I just didn't get that wow moment with this bowl. This place kept me alive. We had a Toronto/NYC/NJ trip for over 12 days and it was constant drinking and a lot of good good food but I need my green shakes and I was dying without one, 7 days in. I was relieved when I walked into this place. Everyday, I had at least 2 shakes and it saved me from a lot of pain and suffering! This place is a little expensive but I didn't mind. The only suggestion, I would have is if I had an option of just blending the whole fruit, I would chose that. I came here in the morning for a breakfast smoothie bowl and also picked up one of their baked donuts (which were very low calorie but also incredibly delicious).
