Whether it's winter or you're under the weather, there is no better place for simple, fresh, delicious broth than here. I got another small immunity broth because I've never had anything like it before. The freshness of the vegetables and chicken bone broth was the best I've ever had in broth before. The tomato cheddar soup was lovely (I am biased towards amazing tomatoes). The chicken broth soup with rice and vegetables had less of a focus on the broth so you could taste the goods more. I consider them a separate category from the broth. The Mexican bowl was well-rounded and their homemade sauce was pretty dope. The staff was friendly (no limes available for the broth though?) and the vibes cleansed me of my desire for fattening food. If I could, I would eat only this on the winter. read more

I have been wanting to try springbone kitchen for quite a while. I am a mega fan of all things, bone broth, and soups, especially when they are seed oil free. Stopped in on a Wednesday early evening to try a build-your-own bowl and beef broth. I was a little surprise by the total price in the end. But given the area it felt acceptable. I got a cauliflower rice bowl, topped with chicken thigh and a few vegetable toppings (3 included) which included cucumbers, kale and broccoli. There was an additional price for the cauliflower rice versus the regular rice they had. There is also an additional price for chicken that is not thigh meat. Overall, including the additional prices of my selection added up to a grand total of $25 and a few cents. When I tell you, I had high hopes for this bowl, I was really let down. The chicken was tiny, minced pieces that looked like they were scavenged from different chicken preps, quite unappealing like the cucumbers that looked like they were oversoaked in a marinade, which made them very sour and slimy . Anything they touched had a sour taste. I did not like the bowl at all. The cup of bone broth was good. A fair price for the labor that goes into making broth. $5.XX The service was friendly and straightforward. They also have a bit of seating in this location. I've known about their bone broths for a while, but had never tried them until now as I wasn't sure they had vegan/vegetarian options, and was pleasantly surprised. I got the spicy miso broth and it was exactly what I needed--super soothing and delicious. The staff who were working there were very kind and even offered me a broth for free that I guess someone didn't want in their order anymore (unfortunately it wasn't a vegan one), but I'm hoping someone else was able to enjoy it. The space is pretty small, with one long communal table and a couple of bar seats facing the window, but I was able to spread out quite a bit as it wasn't super crowded when I was there. I spent two years wondering how this business could exist selling bone broth. Turns out they also sell protein bowls. The bone broth was delicious, no complaint there. The bowl tried waaaay too hard to be "healthy" which just meant an overload of fibrous and gritty stuff and not much discernible meat. Prices decent, but the consistency of the bowl was just bad. I recently tried Springbone for the first time via delivery. I got a cup of the classic chicken broth and the grandma's chicken and rice bowl. It was a gloomy day and my co-workers and I were looking for a gloomy day meal. So we decided to order Springbone Kitchen as we'd heard about their famous broths. I ordered the classic chicken broth which was really flavorful and surprisingly still warm even after 30 mins transportation. It comes in a cup which was a little odd but still the flavors were really great. It's perfect if you're feeling a little under the weather or craving something warm. I also ordered the chicken Mediterranean bowl which was very average (even a little below average). I felt the flavors were a little bland and the presentation isn't the most appetizing (see picture). Given the price for the bowl I was a little dissapointed with the bland flavors and toppings to rice ratio. WOWZA! What a gem of a find of a cold winter day. My husband and I were in desperate need of a healthy, cozy bowl-type meal (after copious amounts of pizza, alcohol and cookies), so we were so excited to try this place! Coming to Washington Square Park always brings Jamie W. and me a great deal of pleasure, and Greenwich Village doesn't have a dearth of choices for a satisfying meal. We just wanted to keep it healthy and noticed a couple on a bench eating some very appetizing bowls. We asked where they got them and found ourselves at Springbone where business was bustling mostly with takeout orders. Since they had a free outdoor table, we decided to have lunch right there on 3rd Street. Their chalkboard menu had several options available - a half dozen bowls, five soups, and at least eight different kinds of bone broth. Jamie decided on the $12.50 Mexican Bowl with free-range chicken, black beans, guacamole, pico de gallo, and chili sauce on top of a bed of Spanish bone broth rice (photo: https://bit.ly/3n0eP7k). It was like a fresher take on a Chipotle bowl. Mine was the $12.50 Grandma's Chicken and Rice which interestingly used the same rice, chicken, and chili sauce as the Mexican Bowl. It was definitely comfort food and the use of bone broth in the rice was a nice touch. My one minor quibble was that I would've preferred my chicken in shards rather than cubes. I was suffering through some cold symptoms, with my sore throat making it painful to swallow. Enter, the bone broth from Springbone Kitchen. As a longtime vegetarian/pescatarian (14 years), I was never a bone broth girlie, but Springbone might've converted me. Even if it's more about the temperature of the water that was soothing rather than any vegetal or bone broth qualities, I believe strongly in placebo effect. I'm about to cry I came to a place to have some soup, and a cockroach ran down my neck Oh my God, this has never happened to me in my life This is definitely not my day. I felt something crawling on my neck, so I brushed it off with my hand, and it fell onto my pants. I screamed and jumped up! An employee came over to check if I was okay, and I showed him the cockroach. He just stepped on it and walked away! I sat back down, completely losing my appetite, and noticed another one on the wall. I screamed again, and this time he killed it with a napkin. I ordered a build your own bowl with a base of half herbed quinoa and half organic mixed greens, chickpea salad for the side, turmeric roasted cauliflower for the protein, salsa verde for the sauce, and pickled onions, cabbage slaw, and pico de Gallo for the toppings. Overall, it was a yummy and filling bow at a fair price! The herbed quinoa was flavorful and plentiful, the roasted cauliflower was tender and nicely spiced, and the chickpea salad was refreshing. The mixed greens didn't add much, but I always like to get some greens with my meal! I thought the tomatoes in the pico de Gallo weren't the highest quality, but I often find that that's the case with fast casual restaurants' pico de Gallo. I'd skip it next time. I'd also try a different sauce, as while the salsa verde was pretty good, I think I'd like some of the other options better. Overall, this is a great place to get a healthier lunch or dinner! I've tried 3 things from here and all amazing (but some more bang for your buck). I've come here to grab dinner on a few occasions and based on those experiences, am recapping my memory. 1. Grandma's Chicken and Rice (10/10)- This was hearty, wholesome, and healthy. This truly tasted like something a grandma would make for their grandkids after school/dinner. It's clean (in the sense of not oily), and leaves you feeling perfect full. 2. Beef Chili Bowl (11/10!!!)- HOLY CRAP. I don't eat chili often, but on a cold day, I was craving this. and BOY WILL I NEVER GET CHILI ANYWHERE ELSE IN THE WORLD. Their chili was absolutely divine. It was decadent, thick, and put me in a food coma afterwards (in the best way possible). I didn't feel "heavy" or like I needed a run after to burn it off. One thing that I cannot stop thinking about though, was the sweet potatoes that it came with. Now, I don't know if I got lucky that this batch of roasted sweet potato, but they were out of this world. It was so sweet, I couldn't believe it. I tried to look really closely to see if there was sugar on it because it legit tasted like candy sweet potato. COME AND GET THIS (so that it can stay on the menu for the next time I visit NYC). Please and thanks. 3. Chicken Zoodle Soup (8/10)- Sooooo this was great, but it is not a meal. More like a light snack. Broth - that is what you get here. Especially if you've made some questionable decisions about food and drink before coming to Springbone. For those who prefer to chew their food, like me, there is an extended menu with other options. Pretty pricey food on that menu, but hey, it's sourced locally and the ingredients just taste so CLEAN. Feed me all the paleo food you got and I am a happy girl. I got the beef chilli bowl, which had a lot of quinoa and a decent amount of ground up beef. It was really tasty; the sweet potato complemented the ingredients so well. But the portions you get here are disappointing for the price, so keep that in mind when coming here. Tried the Mexican Bowl, and that was great. Tons of black beans, rice, and guac. The broth it comes with (on the side in a sample cup) was delicious! Now that I trust these people, I know I'm coming back for that! They were sadly out of the mushroom tea, so I got a plain herbal tea. It was alright, pretty simple, tasted like hot water. Love that they're open relatively late for the area and that their staff is pretty friendly. Their lack of space and a bathroom are whack, so just keep those in mind before stopping in. There's just a counter space and a picnic table, with there being seats for about 7-8 people. It's tight so don't come here for intimate conversations. Keep it casual, NYU students! The Spanish rice in the dish is cooked with chicken bone broth, so it worked perfectly for me (as I do not eat beef). To be fair, I couldn't tell that this was made with bone broth; nevertheless it tasted wonderful and was well seasoned. The rice was fluffy and the kimchi and chili sauce added a kick which rounded off the flavors really nicely. Portion wise, I was more than satisfied; this meal took me from starving to full, yet I didn't feel bloated or overstuffed. I'm also happy that they included guac at no additional charge! It definitely added a creaminess to the bowl and rounded it off quite nicely. I genuinely can't find anywhere to fault this place. The food was prepared according to my specification and was ready on time.
