The price of the food does not match the quality. Last night I got the crispy thai shrimp salad and it was basically cole slaw with a chalky peanut dressing. The shrimp itself was tiny and looked like it came out of a can. The mixed drinks were also a rip off, the mai oh mai and the yacht club were extremely small, had a tiny bit of alcohol in it, and were not worth the $12. I definitely will not be coming back unless i feel like throwing my money away. read more

I loved my 1st experience at Avenue. The restaurant is a converted Hardware store in the suburbs and it works! I had the swordfish and it was delicious. Waitress was attentive and friendly. Nice bar in the front and seating in the back with plenty of windows. read more

I was not expecting to find such fine dining in Medfield. This place is delicious! Husband and I stopped in for an early dinner (5:15) with our one year old. The place was mostly empty aside from other people with children. I had the short rib gnocchi. This dish was so flavorful. The gnocchi was very light and the pork very rich. Husband had the pork chop special which was massive. Good char on the meat and the sides were also well prepared. Split a tasty lemon cobbler for dessert... the table next to us had two other desserts (creme brûlée and the brownie sundae) that look yummy. We tried two of the rotating beers - both local brewers. Our server was attentive, cheery and prompt. By the time we were leaving at 6:30 ever table was taken and the bar was packed. There were many other items on the menu that we wanted to try, we will definitely be back. read more

We had an 8PM reservation, and when we showed up, there was such a huge crowd waiting that it took 10-15 minutes to be seated. This didn't bother me - it's nice to see a restaurant thriving and they sat us as soon as they could. It was a little congested in the front area, but the staff worked diligently to get parties seated, etc. We would've gotten a drink at the bar, but there was absolutely no way we would've found room to get an order in. There are a couple of tables that back up against the bar, and we were praying we wouldn't be put in one - otherwise we'd have people's backs right on top of us. We lucked out and were seated near the open kitchen. The restaurant is VERY loud and boisterous. It could be hard to be heard at times. The food was very good. My husband and I shared the Kale/Romaine Cesar salad - very tasty and the croutons were great. The salted butter served with bread was yummy. My husband had a sourdough roll, and I had focaccia. Both were a smidge tough. Entree's were good. My husband's Bolognaise was a little cool - I believe it sat for a bit while my salmon was seared. My salmon was perfectly cooked and delicious. We shared a delicious bottle of wine and strawberry rhubarb crisp for dessert. I feel the meal was a good value for what we paid. We'll be back to try other items on their menu. I hope they expand their appetizer options to have more non-fish choices. read more

I just went back to the Avenue a second time so my husband could enjoy it but what a disaster it turned out to be. First time there was with about 10 friends and no issues but this time there were 4 of us and we waited 40 minutes to be seated (yes, with reservations). The bar is nice but 40 minutes is 40 minutes. The bartender kept shaking his head and saying, "sorry, my hands are tied." Finally, they seated us at the chefs table while was nice. Thought the whole thing was behind us until we had a waitress who couldn't hear us since the acoustics were so bad and she was very slow in getting our orders in and serving us. We had to ask where our appetizers were while they were sitting in the kitchen waiting to be served. Food was decent which was nice but after arriving at 8:30 it's tough when you don't get your food until 10. And to put this whole thing into perspective we didn't get one acknowledgment or apology. I didn't expect to be comped anything but I do appreciate a "so sorry you had to wait so long." Or even sending the manager over. Just the littlest something goes a long way. Went there 4 months ago. Gazpacho was very good. Waited some time for a hamburger that was probably cooked 5 seconds on each side. (We took it home and cooked it.). Extremely loud place. Havent been back but I will give it another shot eventually. We live in Medfield and like to support local businesses. read more

My family enjoyed a great meal at Avenue last week. The crab cake was a tasty start, if a bit on the small side. All the entrees were fantastic. Very impressive how well executed they were just so soon after the restaurant first opened. We especially enjoyed the tuna and lobster mac & cheese. The warm blondie with salted caramel ice cream was awesome. The chocolate cake was a bit firm probably from being too cold, but tasted great. The leftover cake the next day at room temperature was perfect. Great night out! read more

We ordered a bottle of red and calamari for an appetizer. The calamari was fresh and very tasty. I had a burger medium rare and it was cooked perfectly. My partner ordered a signature chicken dish that he thought was good but slightly over cooked. The staff was friendly and attentive. A bit pricey but worth a visit. read more

Five of us went on a recent Sunday night. We arrived around 5:15 so the restaurant wasn't crowded yet, so we had very attentive service. Our waiter, Paul, was friendly, helpful and efficient. Other waiters occasionally refreshed our water and cleared our table so we seemed to have a little extra service because the restaurant wasn't full yet. We started with some cocktails and appetizers. I would not recommend the Yacht Club drink - it was a little sour/bitter for my taste. The calamari and Avenue flatbread were delicious. We also had the roasted beets salad. I personally didn't have any but those who did said it was good. All but one of our entrees were very good. Thumbs up for the lobster trompetti, the angus burger, the grilled tuna, and the beef bolognese. The one disappointing entree was the Argentinian chicken which was a little overdone and rubbery. By the time we left, the restaurant had filled up and the acoustics were a little loud. Overall, we enjoyed our dinner so I would definitely recommend Avenue. read more

This place has a very small bar and is very loud. Hurtfully loud, don't expect to hear your waiter or the people you're dining with or yourself for that matter. I've been there 3 times and every time more disappointing than the previous. The food is average, nothing really special about it. Food was good. Butternut squash soup was good, I got the pasta with meat sauce, it was good but not worth $24. My husband got the steak frites, again good but not worth $29. Overpriced. I got a "specialty cocktail", smallest drink I have ever seen, $12, not worth it. Biggest problem was the menu had very little selection, only about 6 or 7 entrees to choose from for dinner, no specials were offered. Pumpkin cheesecake was the only item that my husband and I did not like. Waiter was not very friendly, forgot to get my drink. Overall, good atmosphere, people at front desk were friendly, food was good, just a bit pricey. Probably won't go back unless it's to sit at the bar and get an appetizer. read more

Well I guess it's Medfield. I understand there aren't many choices in the area. We made a reservation for dinner but were still seated at a high top table in the bar. Just doesn't make it feel like dinner does it? The wine list is abysmal. Their specialty seems to be beers but as hops allergic would have been nice to see a hard cider or two on offer, there were none. The specialty winter cocktail the waitress recommended as similar to cider was what we went with - it was hawaiian punch + cheap champagne, saved slightly by a twist of orange. I ordered the signature chicken dish which was delicious but very very salty. Very salty. I ate less than half and my feet felt puffy before I finished eating. On the + side - It is very inexpensive for the type of upscale casual atmosphere on offer and the bar was lively. Definitely don't recommend for anyone with dietary restrictions or who is health conscious, or anyone who likes wine, or anyone who doesn't live in Medfield. read more

We've been to avenue three times. Everything we ordered was fabulous. Yes it's noisy, but I heard they are working on that for the future. Yes it's hard to get a reservation or you have to wait to get in. Hey it's a new place and this town needs great places like this. Over time the lines will reduce and the restaurant will settle into normal mode. But having a very nice place in town, with nice people, great food and convenience is a huge plus for Medfield and we have enjoyed it. Thanks for making this town better and adding some more elegance to the center of town. My only complaint is the rolls. I too like one of thither reviewers love a good warm roll or bread to place butter on. The cold rolls don't do it. Thanks read more

We had an early reservation on a Wednesday night. Our table was nice but it felt like we were sharing the table with the couple next to us. Rolls were cold and chewy, drinks were small and the entrees took over an hour from the time we ordered. My "well done" burger was pink inside. Our family has been to Avenue many times since they've opened, and we had yet another amazing meal the other night. Top notch attention from the wait staff... on top of water, drinks, bread... you name it. And right down the line from apps to main dish to dessert, I must say... so absolutely delicious!!! The calamari is crispy and buttery... there wasn't a scrap left on the plate. We also got the app special of grilled carrots. Unbelievable flavor!! For the entrees, the burger with cherrywood-smoked bacon and cheddar could have been the best burger we've ever had. Cooked perfectly. The scallops and risotto were out of this world. The miso glazed Scottish salmon was juicy and very flavorful. A must have. For dessert... whoa... we had chocolate creme brûlée (as delicious as it sounds), pumpkin cookie ice cream sandwich (off the charts amazing), and lemon sorbet (very refreshing and a great end-of-summer treat). Chef Josh Foley and his crew have something truly special going on here. We all left shaking our heads at how outstandingly delicious everything was! We dined there on a Sunday night of the week that they opened. Given the fact that it was a new business I will be a bit lenient on the service. The wait wasn't too long (35 min) and we were able to get a drink while we waited. Although they weren't taking reservations there did seem to be reserved seating for some people. This was only mildly annoying as people that had showed up after us were seated before us. We ordered the muscles to start. The dish needed more garlic and shallots and could have been cooked a few more minutes (we shouldn't have to let the muscles open bc they didn't open themselves). Not a good start. We both had the bolognaise which to be honest was bland and in my wife's case, bone dry. It was like the chef threw ground beef on some pasta. The kids had pizza and chicken tenders. The pizza was very good but the tenders need work. The desserts were comped bc of a mix up in the kitchen. The waitstaff was good. All in all, we spent 2.5 hrs (did I mention the kitchen mix up?) and $200 on dinner. We could have eaten at home for a fraction of that with better food. read more
