    Coffee with almond milk

The atmosphere is very cute. I lived the vibe walking in for brunch. There was zero wait which surprised me for a Saturday morning. The staff was really nice. Our waitress was attentive and sweet. The food was good. I got a white chocolate latte... it wasn't very good and ended up sending it back and getting a regular coffee. They have milk alternatives like oat milk and almond milk for coffee.

Food from here was wonderful and the space is super cute! I really love the way they make their home fries - unlike anything I've had before! Our server was very attentive and the food came out in a timely manner. Definitely give this place a visit!

Stopped into Avenue Kitchen a little while back and I am happy to say that our experience was nothing like some of the more negative reviews I have read, in fact, it was a downright splendid experience in a bright, upbeat space, with perfect outdoor dining and a wonderful staff. We were greeted immediately after stepping inside and asked if we wanted to be seated inside or enjoy the beautiful weather that day. Usually, I will choose to sit inside, just to avoid any baking sun or exhaust from passing cars, but something that day spurred me to sit out front, and boy did it help make the whole experience! The patio out front is spacious, comfortable, and even quiet and somewhat private despite being right up against the shopping center parking and right next to a neighboring restaurant. Our server was absolutely outstanding; she was the only thing standing between the small issue I experienced when ordering! They didn't have bagels and I couldn't order my initial menu choice, and although I was slightly annoyed, she smoothed this over impeccably and helped me ease into several of the other choices that I had wanted as well, so it was actually a win. The menu isn't "extensive" but the choices that are there are unique and wonderful, and many of them have interesting twists and takes on other dishes from the past as well as creations you may never expect. I decided ultimately to go with a Brûléed Grapefruit, which was a half a grapefruit with sugar poured overtop and then caramelized into a perfect glasslike sweet crust that was an experience unlike I have ever had before with any fruit. This alone would keep be coming back again to try it over and over. In addition, I also tried the avocado toast that was loaded with perfectly fresh avocado and so many other things that created a wonderful balance of fresh vegetal flavors and smooth buttery umami that makes this modern classic so popular. This was just another highlight of their menu, at least for me. This is a wonderful woman-owned and operated space that is worth checking out if you are ever in the area and should be a repeat staple for those of you who live nearby. If I was just a bit closer, I'd be coming every Friday or Saturday morning for just the grapefruit alone, not to mention the rest of the menu to explore.

My husband and I took a drive to Pennsylvania for brunch. The venue was nice, bright and gave off a very inviting feel. Our server was friendly and attentive. The food was delicious and filling. I definitely recommend others to try out this establishment.

We used to frequent here years ago when we lived here and was one of our favorite spots. We are traveling and decided to go back for breakfast. First the positives, the service was good and the atmosphere is nice. I ordered the Latke which was over cooked so much the outside was hard. My wife had a waffle and bacon. The waffle was good. I also had an order of bacon. So for $7 you get 3 pieces of thin sliced smoked bacon that comes out tasting like it has been under a heat lamp for hours. They were nice when we sent it back and they removed it from the bill. Seriously though for that price is should be regular cut bacon and cooked fresh to order. Very disappointed. Won't be back

Avocado Benedict - we added tomato

Overall experience ended up being quite average although I loved the French toast. We ordered it with whipped cream which turned out to be homemade and so delicious. The avocado Benedict we enjoyed however came out lukewarm so my wife and I switched plates so she could have the French toast, but I enjoyed the Benedict as well. Service was sufficient and the overall ambience was a little strange as the decor made no sense to me. Fair pricing for the area. Would return.

First of all they serve breakfast all day. Two thumbs up on that. I went for lunch. Had a bougie Achiote chicken sandwich. I was shocked how good it was. Service very good. Ample seating, with choice of booth or table.

At 10 am I was able to order lunch. The million Dollar burger was amazing!! And the fries.... Out freaking standing!! The burger was exceptional in every aspect. The onion and lettuce were super crisp and the meat was super flavorful and cooked perfectly to the medium rare I ordered. The brioche bun was so delicate and delicious.

Different cheesesteak item #1070 in the last five years. I hate myself for loving the Grilled Cheese and Short Rib sandwich. They need to hire people. Taylor is wonderful but she is just one person. She was greeting, seating, waiting tables, bartending, clearing and setting tables. If I'm paying $16 for a grilled cheese and $12 for my Maple Rye Smash, I want more people waiting on me. I did love the sandwich. It was very flavorful and had a good amount of meat. It came with very good fries. I don't know how she found time to do it but Taylor made me a wonderful Maple Rye Smash. PS the plate was cracked.

Check In was smooth and I server Matt was excellent! Avenue kitchen restaurant has very nice ambience for a restaurant located in a strip mall. When you approach the restaurant there is nice outside seating that most likely existed prior to COVID. Inside is very stylish a modern open concept with 'exposed' beams etc. The bar is a statement piece large, bright and neat. Overall inside has the look of a large semi expensive condo in a major city. Major upside? plenty of parking! All of the breakfast/brunch menu items are interesting. Using Yelp to view the food was extremely helpful. I went with the Creme Brûlée waffle and loved it. It wasn't extremely sweet it was delivered with a nice golden brown caramelized sugar top with fruit and mint garnish. The firm waffle worked well with the custard topping and fruit. A little too much custard topping for me but I moved the 'extra' to the side. Hubby enjoyed his steak, potatoes and eggs. The steak was cooked as requested and tender. He love the bacon bloody Mary so much he did it twice. My St. Germain spritzer was good not special. As usual the La colombe coffee as usual was strong but good. This was a nice experience and worth a try or repeat visit!

Nice bar! Only open for breakfast and lunch.

Wow, first time here. Lovely decorations and nice bar! They are only open for breakfast and lunch right now. The place was not busy when we got there but filled up quickly! Then we realized this poor server was on her own. She kept up with orders, seating people, delivery food and bills. She did it with a smile on her face. The food was great! I had a toasted caprese sandwich with delicious fries! The sandwich was so good. The balsamic glaze really made the sandwich! My husband had a grilled chicken sandwich with homemade fries. He really enjoyed his!! Definitely going back maybe breakfast next time!!

    Farro Salad
    Caroline C.

Had a nice A-OK dinner here with girlfriends a few weeks ago. The food was pretty good- we ordered a lot of different apps and entrees to share! Pizza was okay but a little lacking in toppings, farro salad was very good. Short rib grilled cheese could have had a little more cheese but the fries it was served with were good! Baked goat cheese was very interesting and I think worth the split between a group. We love the chips and buttermilk dip it's a favorite. As an aside, I think it would go well with fried pickles LOL. Cocktail selection was impressive and it was nice to have a glass of wine with dinner. I think the ambiance was just okay for an evening meal. It was very bright inside and we were a little cold. The service was fine; they forgot one of our drinks and we didn't wait too long to order but we found ourselves sitting around a little bit.

    Chicken and Waffle

My husband took me here for a early Friday lunch. I was pleasantly surprised. The restaurant is quaint and luxury. They have a full bar. The restaurant was beautiful. All cream with neutral Decor. The only thing that I did not like was the white Christmas trees LOL. But the restaurant made a great backdrop for my Instagram post. I ordered the chicken and waffle. The chicken was delicious. The cider donuts were soft and delicious. I did not care for the dipping sauce. However the sauce was not needed. My husband got the French toast that was actually very good. The potatoes had a better on it that was interesting I don't think I need it on my potatoes moving forward. One big downfall is that they did not have any breakfast meat besides pork. Most Philadelphians don't eat pork. The chicken with my chicken and waffle was the best part of my meal. Even better than the Donuts. Their breakfast drink menu was long and I enjoyed my cranberry bubbly. I will definitely come back here. It was not the best food I ever had in my life, however when you pair the décor and the service from the new waitress, Maddie and the delicious doughnut and fried chicken It is worth coming back.

We couldn't limit our picks and started with the Grilled Kennett Square mushrooms, Camembert with carrot caramel foam, and the chilled pea soup with mint. We also ordered the Nashville hot catfish and curry soft shell crab. The caramel foam was delicious and paired perfectly with the cheese and bread. The pea soup was refreshing and harmonized well. The mushrooms were simply delightful. The catfish was cooked extremely well, with the crust (with a corn meal crust?) remaining crunchy and the fish juicy, with the seasonings on point and spicy. The curry soft shelled crab was the winner among many winning choices and was perfect. We couldn't stop raving about it. We enjoyed it so much, we overindulged and ordered the lamb. The meat was exceptionally soft, even for rack of lamb. Unable to resist the dessert menu, we finished with the rhubarb sorbet with basil water and granola. My wife is not a fan of rhubarb or basil, but also loved the dessert and its balance and uniqueness. The service was excellent and attentive, and the restaurant is very cute and cozy. My wife has worked in restaurants for years and we were both thoroughly impressed by the execution and care for all the items we ordered. It's one thing to have a creative and unique menu, it's another thing entirely to have that level of execution for it. Thank you!

The value alone for the price is worth coming here repeatedly, and that is without me even knowing if the menu for brunch changes seasonally or based on what is available on the market at the time! The dining room is very well set, minus the goofy china, and we were quickly greeted by our wonderful server. She engaged in my insane ramblings and conversation and told us all about the comings and goings of the restaurant and everything else I wanted to ask about. Our mimosas, champagne, and coffee were kept flowing and full at all times! The actual brunch buffet was outstanding. I was dumbfounded at the quality and variety of the foods on offer, especially the amount and selection of cold seafood. They have unlimited oysters!!!!!!! With all the accoutrement that you could possibly want for them. As well as mussels. So if you are a shellfish or smoked fish fan, get here immediately. The hot foods were also unbelievably good with one of my personal highlights being a banana foster; flambéed right in front of you that you can stack on top of waffles, French toast, or anything you'd like; in my case just eating a huge bowl of the bananas. The food gives you that fine dining experience without the pretentiousness. The staff is warm and friendly -- shout out to Chet for his amazing service. They were also very accommodating to our son who was in between napping when we began dining, setting up a high chair for us in a way that would allow him to continue sleeping in his car seat. We started the meal off with some seared scallops that were perfectly arranged. Next, my wife had some seared tuna while I ordered the Colorado bison -- both items off of the special seasonal menu. The dishes were incredibly flavorful and the veggies that surrounded the meat added a nice complement. I also really enjoyed my California cab, as did my wife with her house Manhattan. We will definitely be back next time we are in Delaware, and highly recommend to anyone visiting the Hockessin area!

(Server rectified) The pasta carbonara was prepared using guanciale instead of bacon or pancetta. I found it too rich and almost over cooked. The duck wings appetizer my friend had were excellent. The fresh fish entree was delicious. The cheesecake dessert was a thing of beauty. I would probably try again, but it's a half an hour away. (We passed way too many other restaurants to try)

If there's 8 people, and we order 2 orders of a dish that has a quantity of two pieces in the dish, tell us it has two pieces in it. We would order more at the time. Yes we could have ordered more when it arrives, but let us know, so we can make that decision in realtime which affects our entire order. Staff: Wonderful wonderful! As a restaurant working alum, I see all the hard work that everyone is doing. The small things that make a difference, to larger gestures. The hostesses having table wedges if a table is wobbly. A manager walking around greeting people and asking about their experience. Their kickass drink runner who never spills a drop when the drinks are filled to the very top. And the friendly waitstaff and food runners. Management: Once we were there and it was slammed. But they never missed a beat. However, management walked around and apologized to people for the wait because their online system wasn't working (we honestly didn't even think anything was awry) and comped something for a bunch of tables. Class act! Food: Always excellent. We try something new every time we are there and it never disappoints. FYI try their pasta. Beautiful! Drinks: We always order from their specialty cocktail section and they are always on point.

And, the plates remained once we hurriedly ate the food the "airline" pushed in front of us. The soups were delicious with the French Dip layered with thinly sliced beef (It was called a French Dip after all.) soaking in a rich onion influced broth accompanied by a soaked brioche crouton covered in melty provolone. The Butternut Squash Bisque flavored with asiago was definitely a winner too but before our soup course was 1/2 finished and with our Mediterranean Platter's tabouleh still showing its colors and enough hummus to later lead our waitress to ask if we wanted more pita ... the first entree was added to our crowded table. Not sure where the blame lies for the hurried appearance of plates but we were looking forward to a special evening out ... a birthday dinner choice ... a restaurant specializing in small plate dining should be well accustomed to serving diners in a relaxed manner. Upon their arrival I looked at the Schnitzel Medallions but wanted to enjoy the French Dip soup ... I knew the temperature of the food would be decreasing but the soup was so good. Why in the world would the first plate be served while we were enjoying our soup literally with soup spoons in or hands ... no, I did not hear that our flight was boarding ... we were in no rush but we were being rushed. So, now on the small table were our two soup bowls that we were finishing ... the plate still holding quite a bit of our Mediterranean Platter (We did expect to have some small talk after all it was a birthday celebration so we had leisurely started eating this appetizer.), we had the plates that we were expected to eat off of (Mine still had hummus and tabouleh on it.) and this brand new plate with pork tenderloin and asparagus. Maneuvering food became a needed skill. My dining partner put some schnitzel onto her "eating" plate letting soup cool ... I decided hot soup was more important than hot or even warmish pork so I continued to eat my soup but rushing soup made it less enjoyable. So, I finished my soup squeezing the empty bowl into a limited space on the table ... my "eating plate" was crowded still having hummus on it because I rushed my soup .. my dining partner said "yum the Schnitzel is good" while her soup chilled. I took the serving plate with the remaining Schnitzel and asparagus eating off it since it was the only plate with room. Before I took a bite the sliders arrived further crowding the table. Quickly the Butternut Squash Bisque was finished so that she could eat a hot well maybe warm Crispy Fish Slider ... I was still working on the Schnitzel knowing I was going to eat cold fish. And, as we both kept putting food in our mouths foregoing any conversation the Chicken Primavera arrived and looked picture perfect amidst the crowded table but finally the soup bowls were removed ... there's still hummus and tabloeh from that Mediterranean Platter that we didn't have time to finish and the waitress asks if we would like more pita ... sure ... I had just finished the cold slider and was about to try the chicken primavera. She also then noticed my water glass was almost empty and asked if I wanted a refill ...I did but had been so busy shoving food down my mouth that I just barely noticed I needed water (I actually knew I did but no one ever stopped by to ask.). And, just in case you're wondering... our flight still was not close to taking off from the terminal in this lovely lounge (It really is an attractive restaurant to dine in.) that reminded us of a classic airport lounge but it felt like a hallway fast food eatery. We had come to enjoy a leisurely small plate dinner with good conversation...celebrating a birthday before heading off to the theatre. You might be wondering why there are three stars rather than one. Well, the food was all really tasty. I would say it was delicious even though due to the rush the only food I ate that was hot was my soup. We finally did get back to that Mediterranean Platter and yes, we were given more pita and I wasn't rushed eating it because there was nothing left to be served. Oh, it looks like they have some nice outside seating for warmer days. We skipped the mixed drinks ... they looked really good and other folks seemed to be enjoying themselves.

Purchasing the suggested pairings (ahead of time) added to the overall experience. We also had wines that were brought on preference and the paired wines won out every time as they perfectly complemented the prepared courses. Our two servers were friendly and attentive, explaining every course and refilling our wines without asking. Present, yet out of the way. The atmosphere is very cozy in the back of the cafe at Talula's Table - the original table as opposed to the smaller kitchen table added a few years back. Reservations still take a year (though it's easier to snag a cancelation or weekday as they recently added online reservations in April 2026). However, it was well worth the wait (and I'm not sure why I waited so long to try it)! We left stuffed between the hors d'oevres, eight courses, bread, surprise course, and plenty of wine to wash everything down. We experienced the Spring 2026 menu and look forward to dining again in another season.
